Bank of America Allegedly Drops McMillan Gun Company For ‘Political’ Reasons

McMillan Group International, a company that manufactures firearms and accessories, is claiming that Bank of America asked them find another bank for “political” reasons.
The company, whose different entities have been doing business with Bank of America for more than twelve years, says it has never made a late payment, and never bounced a check.
On Thursday, the Director of Operations Kelly McMillan explained on McMillan’s Facebook page:
Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Market Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking [of Bank of America] came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an ‘account analysis’ meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories.
At this point I interrupted him and asked, ‘Can I [possibly] save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer what my business.’
‘That is correct’ he [said].
I replied ‘That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?’
‘You have to do what you must’ he said.
‘So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?’
Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.
The Daily Caller is reporting, in addition, that the bank representative remarked, “We have to assess the risk of doing business with a firearms related industry.”
Many ask, what risk would that be? Are there really enough people who would refuse to do business with Bank of America over having McMillan as a client that it justifies discontinuing the decade-long relationship?
And when the representative allegedly agreed that the motivation was “political,” did he mean among clients and executives, or government officials?
As a bank that received $20 billion in the bailout, many are outraged that the company seemingly finds constitutional rights a professional liability.
McMillan has thanked the public for its support over Facebook, writing: “I know this is not about McMillan. It’s about the possibility of losing our freedom and right to keep and bear arms. If this had happened to any other company I am sure all of you would have been on their web page shouting your allegiance to the cause.”
The company assures its clients that many competing banks have offered their services, and Kelly McMillan is looking to see whether the company can stop accepting Bank of America cards.
See Glenn Beck’s take on the matter, below:
Meanwhile, Bank of America asserts that the allegations are false on its Facebook page:
We want to let you know that we hear your comments and questions regarding one of our customers. While we cannot discuss the details of any individual client we work with, we can assure you the allegations being made here are completely false. Bank of America does not have a policy that prohibits us from banking clients in this industry. In fact, we have numerous, longstanding customers in the industry.
We are also extremely proud of our support of the US military and reject any assertion to the contrary. We count as clients many companies that provide for our nation’s defense. We employ thousands of veterans, Guardsmen, and Reservists, and plan to increase our hiring this year.

Got fed up with the way they treat customers, tell you one thing and hide things in the small print. I had no activity in my savings account for a few months and they started charging my account because I wasn’t using it. My money just laid there for them to use so they charged me more than my monthly interest for no activity.
Any one who is in favor of the 2nd amendment move your accounts and let them know why.

This was how he backed the Kansas community impending law to force churches to allow access to gay marriage requests. Of course, this communty‘s leaders are willing to violate their state’s constitution. How about it ENCINOM(AN)? Or, are you going to accuse me of comparing apples to oranges? Posted on April 24, 2012 at 3:59pmWe have been using B of A for 15 years now. Our little family business has passed as much as $3 million in sales per year through the branch here on the east coast of Fl.
I’ve been looking for another bank to deal with as lately B of A has been screwing up with alarming regularity.
Y’all should have been around the day they (B of A) made a $120,000 mistake on my father’s account. I had to lock up the guns he was so PO’ed!!!
It looks like the days of the small town bank are gone so I’ll have to do a little searching to find a bank I can trust…. If there is ANY bank out there that can be trusted…
This situation with McMillan is enough for me to want to divorce them. Bye Bye B of A. I have a few rifles with McMillan stocks on them. I really hate to see them have to deal with this political BS – as if being a gun / gun accessory mfg wasn’t enough to deal with political BS.

“As the military sniper grew in importance in the Vietnam War, the USMC came to McMillan to upgrade its issue sniper rifle. Accuracy and point of impact were unsatisfactory because the wood stock they were using performed poorly in wet jungle conditions. Gale McMillan, founder of the McMillan companies, worked with the USMC in 1975 to develop the HTG fiberglass stock and refine the bedding techniques which were emerging on the competitive benchrest circuit. The rifle was designated the M40A1 and the new rifle went on to revolutionize the modern tactical rifle.”

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 11:06amBefore I jump on the “outraged” bandwagon, I’m wondering who they sell their weapons to. I’ve never heard of them, so I looked them up. Their niche is sniper rifle systems, suppressed sniper rifle systems, EOL (extreme outer limits) “hunting rifles” –in other words, extreme long range sniper rifles for “hunting”, and accessories to turn your rifle into any of those already mentioned…all custom.
They also make designer ammo for big game, knives, schedule hunts, sell sniper books, etc.
More power to them…unless they are selling these to anyone with the cash to buy them.
As an American (and an avid shooter & prepper) I don’t want an American bank my tax money bailed out to finance a firearms company that sells these weapons to other countries, other military’s, or strawmen buying for terrorists.
If they are not allowed to sell or ship outside the USA…then let the BoA bashing begin.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 11:22amFree market dictates they can sell to anyone they legally choose to, just as any other manufacturer of fire arms. Same goes for BOA, they choose not to do business with another company. If we are going to get into who sells to a third party then we have a problem. The manufacture of cigarettes, alcohol and any other regulated product cannot be held liable for what a third party does, unless they are part of any illegal action.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 11:41amThat is not always true. There are a lot of things made in the USA that are restricted as to who they can be exported to.
2ND amendment aside, I’m wondering how people would feel if Colt went to an American bank bailed out with our tax money and said, “We need a loan to expand a factory in Des Moines so we can meet production of assault rifles for a new contract we just signed…in Syria.”

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 12:00pmA financial institution using public money should not just look at the prospectus of the company seeking the loan and SHOULD act as a responsible party in deciding to loan or not to loan.
Do you want them loaning based just on the bottom line?
How about Fruity, gummy, disney character shaped birth control pills in a Hello Kitty container.
Bongs, crack pipes, a new pill that erases the smell of alcohol off your breath.
Maybe they should loan money to fertilizer company’s who sell most of their production to the middle east? You can show us a 25% ROI for your new teflon coated ammo and already have a contract for 50 million rounds for delivery to Mexico…sure! You developed some new software for a new game system, that also integrates nicely with A2A missles guidance systems and already have a buyer for 100,000 units in Pakistan for their new “video game” components…as long as you have collateral…sure!
Bottom line…banks should show some scruples and responsibility and conscience in regards to WHO they loan to and for what reason. That is THEIR right as long as they do not descriminate. Maybe if the banks had shown some balls with Janet Reno & ACORN, we’d be better off right now.
I do NOT agree with them in this instance regarding their desire to not do business with a firearms maker (if they sell only in the US) …but I do agree they have the right to look beyond the balance sheet as to who they do business with. It’s about time.

Now here’s what was really insane – a lot of you probably don’t know, but under fed reserve guidelines, banks have to have 20% of their loans, on deposit in their bank – ie, banks can lend $5 for every $1 on deposit – they borrow the other $4 from the fed reserve. The deposit acct i wanted to open was a charge card (merchants services) deposit acct, and would have given that small bank about $5 million loan authority – and the small bank knew this cause i had brought in the 12 months previous stmts on that very acct i was looking to move to their bank.
The acct application went fine until i gave the CSR my business card with the word “firearms” in the company name – her attitude turned so cold you could have hung meat over her desk – literally. They initially tried to conceal why they were turning the acct down, but finally gave me a letter (after 3 attempts over 9 weeks asking for a conversation with the manager who supposedly was “on vacation”, with the letter indicating 1st, an apology for the confusion in refusing my acct and further indicating it was because “of the nature of my business”. That small bank )Commonwealth Bank) was later purch’d by another small bank here in Virginia, and lord knows who’s absorbed them

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 10:58amCorrect me if I am wrong but is BOA not the bank that has closed down all the Vatican and Catholic funds a few months back at the time the administration threatened the churches?
This bank leadership is in full cahoots with Obama and his friends; willingly or not, they still have to answer for these matters which are politcal and blatantly wrong.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 11:06amAs long as Obama’s march towards Socialism continues, pretty soon there won‘t be enough of other people’s money to put in any bank.

That was their story, but they have yet to prove there was any fraudulent activity. Then the whole story got conveniently swept under the rug.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 11:18amGood question….BUT conversely, IF we gun owners were to pull OUR accounts away from them for being led around by their noses by Obozocommie – THEN, BoA will definitely be on the loosing side of the equation and quickly make some “Attitude Adjustments”.
(Same principles and tactics should work against them IF they are the bank who dropped the Vatican’s account.)

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 4:04pmJPMorgan was the one that closed the vaticans account, therefore if JPM owns BOA, then they may be getting their marching orders from them. Plus, doesn’t Warren Buffet own a boatload of BOA?

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 10:56amFunny how the picture shows Security with a GUN protecting a Bank of America. So BOA you stated this was political and you stated: “We have to assess the risk of doing business with a firearms related industry.” Then that means you will be giving up these ARMED Security?

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 10:51amI think the OWS should have a meeting at BOA. I think the OWS should shut down the BOA, because everyone knows, they’re the 1%’ers, RIGHT?? Shut ‘em down….
Just make sure you all close out your accounts first, then the OWS can do what ever they want.
