There is nothing pretty about the collection agency process. But it’s pretty clear, in this case, that Advanced Call Center Technologies crossed a bunch of lines and then jumped up and down on them. ABC News confronted the bank’s CEO:

Yeah, you may not like the debt collectors calling, but that just means that someone wasn’t reponcible with their money.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 9:37amI havent been able to figure out why Bank Of America is not reeling financially from all of the negative publicity from their activities . BOA have been ripped by Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey for their unethical business practices with their credit and debit cards, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity for catering to illegal aliens. And this bank is near the bottom when it comes to customer service

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 9:29amDemagogue, if money made all the difference with the schools, then cities like Detroit, Washington DC, New Orleans, Atlanta, Newark should have the best schools in America . But they are all on the bottom in academics and standardized test scores. Please explain to me how come private schools have much higher test scores spending only a fraction of what public schools spend per pupil.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 7:15amWhy don’t these customers change their phone numbers? Why suffer the abuse? I agree the agency is dead wrong but customers so NOT need to put up with this, especially the “wrong guy” who was getting harassed..
If you’re not paying your bills, you’ll get calls. Calling the bank to make arrangements will generally keep you off their nasty call list.
On a side note – At one time I worked as a telemarketer, and if your bank has your phone number, you’ll get all kinds of calls unless you tell them NO to “sharing your number with their affiliates:)

Since the company is paid a percentage of what they recover they are vicious.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 10:05pmum, little history lesson BROKER, Bush was in his last couple of months in office and was working with Obama and his transition team at the time. Obama basically asked Bush to sign the legislation and told him that if he did not that Obama would sign it as soon as he took the oath of office. So to blame everything on Bush is really getting old. Blame your buddy BO for the current crap beginning with his useless stimulus package.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 8:36pmWe all know how our Founding Fathers felt about the black man. If they were all resurrected now and put in power, it is likely that the right for women and blacks to vote would be revoked. Should we worship every word e’er spake by our Founding Fathers, and not just pick and choose what seems convenient in today’s “modern” society? Placing this story here might give the outsider the impression that the tea party cared about racism, which of course they do not.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 10:31pmActually, the Constitution is a document which is anti racist in every possible way. The 3/5 Compromise is a reward for freeing slaves (by freeing slaves, the population increases and the state increases it’s voting power). And the Declaration of Independence states “All men are created equal…”
The founders, although some did own slaves, did not draft slavery or inequality into our government. They actual strove to eliminate slavery and signed legislation into law which ended both the importation of slaves and set a date for which all slaves must have been freed (I believe 1814). Later Congressional sessions reverted the law and allowed slavery to continue.
The true shame is that our children have been taught that our founders and our country is racist. This is a lie. Go back to the original documents.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 12:24amGBECK2012, haven’t you ever heard of Abigail Adams? She was probably one of the first aboltionists and had a profound effect on husband John. She also worked for women’s rights. I don’t know just when, where, who, or how younger generations have been so brainwashed and turned against the founding fathers, but it explains a lot as to how progressives have gained so much ground in the past decades. Please, go read their quotes. They are all over the Internet and there are numerous books about them. Blacks and women may not have originally had rights, but that was due more to the world society at the time than anything else. How will future generations judge us for our own indulgences, prejudices, and abuses? If anything, the Constitution the founding fathers gave us eventually worked very well for blacks and women. They were well-educated and wise men. We should read and visit their advice often. Their words are truer today than ever before.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 9:21amBenjamin Rush, considered by many at the time to be one of the three most influencial founders (Rush Washington, Franklin). created the first abolishionist group in the nation. Adams stated that slavery would be abolished in their lifetime. The King of England forced slavery on the Colonies and refused to them them abolish it, By the time of our independance, slavery was so interwoven in the southern colonies, they would have collapsed if slavery was suddenly banned, So the majority of the founders held their noses at this “Inherant evil in our system” to keep the southern states on board because it ws just as true then as it was some 80 years later that a house devided cannot stand. All believed that slavery would end, they just didnt realize that it would take 80 some years and a bloody war to acheive it, Calling the forefathers racist is just revisionist history like saying they were all secularists,

It‘s obvious that you don’t watch Glenn Beck’s program. Many of the founding fathers (not all) wanted to end slavery at the founding of our nation. There were black businessmen, preachers and soldiers involved in the revolutionary movement.
I did not vote for BO, but I honestly hoped that we had made progress in racial relations when he was elected. The race-bating ignorance seems to be coming primarily from socialist-progressives who are trying to incite anger in conservatives. As for me, all it is stirring is pity for the ignorance fostered by an infected school system and years of progressive planning.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 8:14pmLooking at Education Week’s “Quality Counts 2009” report, it appears that most (an overwhelming majority) of the states having the worst schools are red states. So are the states red (republican) because they have substandard schools and thus generate a less educated populace? OR Are the schools bad because the republicans (less government) don’t believe on spending money where it is needed in education? Probably both factors are at work here. Regardless, I predict the republicans will continue to hold power in those states by nurturing an environment of ignorance. Remember George Orwell? Ignorance is Strength.

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 8:58amI took the liberty of copying a post from the actual EW site that was an answer to this exact same accusation. Here it is:
” I decided to actually research your statement before posting. Five of the ten worst states voted Republican in the last presidential election, while only three voted for Democrat. The other two (Nevada and Nebraska) weren’t listed where I looked. Five of the ten worst states have Republican governors and five have Democratic governors. Two of the ten worst states have Republican legislatures, while two have Democratic legislatures. The other eight have split legislative control. It would seem that bad education is a bipartisan effort. I don’t consider myself a member of either party, though as a liberally-minded educator, you’d probably put me in the Democratic camp.”
That being said, franjky your whole rational is rediculous. Come back with a county by county break down, or better yet a district by district breakdown of the school systems and I bet you cdome to a completely different conclusion. Here in Ohio our best funded but worst performing schools are in the cities. I live in Hamilton county where the Cincinnati school district is a joke and it has been a democratic stronghold for years. Remember, they had the mayor ( Jerry Springer) who had to resign in disgrace for giving a check to a ****** and went on to television infamy and who’s city council refused to let “Cops” ride with the Cincinnati police because the show was “racist”, You go just outside the city into the suburbs of Hamilton county and it’s like a different world. At least 2 districs are academically ranked nationally in the top 25, one of them consistatly makes the top ten. And the suburbs here are strongly conservative, But it still misses the point. As long as you have schools who have students with special needs, some of who cant even hold a pencil, and they are forced to count those students in the standardized testing, And you have a whole culture believing that doing well in school means you are bowing to the man, you cant seriously get a solid reading on how well a school is doing.
