Baptist Reverend to Maddow: Christians In America ‘Are Not Persecuted’

Days after Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum caught some heat over Pastor Dennis Terry’s controversial introduction at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, another faith leader is speaking out.
Rev. C. Welton Gaddy, a minister at Northminster Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana, had some tough words for Christians in America who allege that there’s a war on religion. Additionally, he offered up some stark criticisms of Terry’s controversial words.
“It angers me and it hurts me when I read the words at first I laughed,” he told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. “And then I thought, ‘I can’t laugh at this.’”
Gaddy went on to say that Terry wasn’t speaking out in a Christian manner.
“That man gave me the feeling that he is the war on religion, because what he was talking about was being anti-American and anti-religious,” he said. “He did not conform to the Bible and he didn’t conform to the constitution. We are not a nation that kicks people out because of disagreement.”
He also dismissed the notion that there is a war on religion and claimed that one can truly remove God from society.
“People who lived so long with an assumed establishment of religion — Judeo-Christian tradition — mainly Christian more than Judeo — are now having to play by the same rules that everybody else does,” he said. “And they‘re saying that that’s persecution. And one day they’re going to have to apologize to people in Afghanistan, and Iraq and places like that who really know what it’s like to be persecuted for their faith. These people are not persecuted.”

Rev. Gaddy is a leftist. He is the head of Interfaith Alliance which also has “irreligious members”. Rev. Gaddy use to have a radio show on the now defunct left wing “Air America” radio network.
Interfaith Alliance has a board member named Mahdi Bray who is an executive director of the Muslim American Society and the National Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice.
Yeah, he fits on the Rachel Maddow show.

That’s not fair, Carnac. I hear religious leaders all the time who saying things like:
“People who lived so long with an assumed establishment of religion — Judeo-Christian tradition — mainly Christian more than Judeo — are now having to play by the same rules that everybody else does,” he said. “And they‘re saying that that’s persecution. And one day they’re going to have to apologize to people in Afghanistan, and Iraq and places like that who really know what it’s like to be persecuted for their faith. These people are not persecuted.”
Don’t you? I mean, doesn‘t every pastor use moral equivalency to show how you can’t possibly be persecuted for your religion if you don’t live in a place like Afganistan?
Wait….wait….sorry, it was my Progressive Socialist side trying inject even more intellectual dishonesty into the conversation.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 8:58pmWe will not be persecuted too much or someone will end up worse than persecuted. Christians are not all into turning the other cheek as some who are more saintly, meek and mild. Good for them. We need them to keep us all toned down. There are a few things where people will die for and Faith being one of them. You all watch how much the white, black, yellow and brown Christians hang together in one Spirit and one accord. You will see how good aligns itself with its own agains those who line up on the side of evil. Our battle is already won. So when the big mouths keep yelling about first one thing or another and go back to refresh themselves and bask in their hedonism. See who comes out on top. We always do, the Christians who have God as their leader.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 3:31pmcompared to what other countries go through, i’d say what we face has been very light. but i believe it’s to prepare us for worse if we bear it with grace and courage drawing near to God in all manner of affliction. and i see an uproar from christians who haven‘t been through what we’ve heard these past few months. Prayer and studying the word and living within Jesus day by day is what we must do. not worrying about tomorrow for each day has enough trouble of its own. I can only hope that when intense persecution does come here that we all remain as cunning as snakes and innocent like doves, being salt and light to the world.

Interfaith Alliance has been a leader in efforts to combat anti-Muslim bigotry, prevent unnecessary legislation such as that in Florida – IA is not a Christian Organization – why would the want Sharia “Satan’s” Law in Florida.
I knew I could disprove IA – It’s R. Maddow’s Church – I can tell by her word and deed that she is not a Christian. It took me 5 min to find out that my hunch was correct. I am not judging – I just don’t believe her – God “WILL” Judge her as well as “ALL” on Judgement day – including Obama, Mohammed, Beck, Limbaugh – “ALL” and we all will answer for our sins. Acting like a Christian Organization and promoting Sharia is a Sin – - it is Satanic – it is blasphemy – it is an abomination.

I respectfully disagree that this is a manufactured point of view.
Ridicule is a form of persecution – it shows a lack of respect. True, we aren’t being jailed or hung in the public square, but we are constantly being belittled.
I am free to worship as I please – but for how long? Will there come a day when I can’t speak about my religion for fear of offending someone?
As far as the “$hepard” comment, it was cute.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 2:38pmTechnically he is correct, that God could be completely removed from society, but to the truly Godly it doesn’t matter. If people would slowly read John even his Epistles in the Bible they would understand. Because when God is in someone then it doesn‘t matter to the one who has God in them if it isn’t outside, but it should matter to the people who don’t have God, because God reaps even where he hasn’t sown. Technically, it is the people who really want to hold onto God outside themselves who don’t have God in themselves.

Don’t despair we can judge him by what he says and judge you by what you write. Like the great script writers that come from Hollywood USA with the words that actors speak. These writers are showing us the path that Shepherd Beck refuses to lead us onto. Into the progressive night of no more questioning, no more opinions, no more Truth, Justice, and the American way. We with our red noses and big shoes are surrounded by the Reverends from MSNBC with their good logic that puts our Islamic neighbours to shame. The spokesperson for our small group would say, “Hello, I’m standing/we’re standing here today for Freedom of Religion in America. Would you like (or may I give you) this information? Perhaps twenty people passed by.
Out of those twenty, only three (THREE) seemed happy to hear that. Many were abrupt in their, “No’s” and one young entitled uppity woman argued every thing we put in front of her. She was fast, slick, pretty, well educated (?) and totally lost (eternally speaking). She seemed proud of herself and the lies she has been taught and believes.

Organized religion and denominations that are the system of religion is reponsible party for the hypocrisy and evil that it has blackened the name of Jesus Christ. People experience persecution in their own families. Jesus said, “I have not come to bring peace but a sword. A man’s enemies will be of his own household.
