KING: You also disclose, Barbara — George discloses something very personal about you, which he says you gave him special permission to write about. He wrote that when you once had a miscarriage, you showed him the fetus in the jar.
BARBARA BUSH: No, really the truth is …
KING: We touched on it before. But we didn’t elaborate.
BARBARA BUSH: I didn’t put it in the jar.
KING: What?
BARBARA BUSH: It’s not in the library. No …
KING: I know.
BARBARA BUSH: George — Paula put it in the jar. And I was shocked when she gave it to him to — but, you know, memories dim a little bit but, anyway — but he was very …
KING: Were you shocked that he put it in the book?
BARBARA BUSH: No. He asked permission, and I gave him permission. It’s his book. And I think he was trying to say that he and I have a very special relationship. We tease all the time, and that’s not very nice of me, but —you know, you’ve got to tease a little bit. And he teases me unmercifully. But we’re very close.

What’s all the hype about Barbara Bush lately? Amazing how all of a sudden she’s a news item after being ignored for what, ahmm… 20 years, maybe? Really weird!!!!!
I agree.
Report Post »I’m perplexed, did I miss some news breaking story? Is Barbara running for a political office, Presidency?

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:53amThis is probably why 41 made the remark last week that 43 has been on every show selling his book, now it looks the parents’ are getting in on it. I used to have a lot of respect for Mrs. Bush but I do think it is time for to be quiet again.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:24amBarbara Bush is a wonderful lady. Some of you “youngsters” enjoy making fun of us old people, but with a little luck you’ll be there some day, and sooner than you think. This is how it was in the day. If we lost a baby, we had to put the fetus in a jar and take it with us to the doctor. And she’s just open enough to tell about it. You go, Mrs. Bush! God bless you!

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:12amC’mon man, I was just eating breakfast. Gross.
Anyway, Barbara or George wouldn’t be disturbed by the fetus in a jar, considering her husband and son attend a Satanic ritual in the woods of California, where they have a mock human sacrifice of an effigy of a baby on an altar in front of a 25ft stone owl.
She looks weird, I wonder what kind of life-extension technologies she’s employing. Reptilian stem cells?
Bush Sr. looks like Beavis from the side profile. Heh heh.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:05amI am naive about this. Did she miscarriage at home? I am assuming she did, as a lot of women gave birth at home at that time. If so, why put it in a jar and not bury it?
Report Post »If she miscarried at a hospital, I am assuming they give you the miscarried baby to bury.
Still, why is it in a jar? That is kind of creepy.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:21amI don‘t know where you come form but I don’t know about women giving birth at home still in the mid to late 40′s because George was born in 1946 and this was many years later.. I know my mother didn’t. And having suffered a miscarriage at home like Barbara, they tell you to bring the fetus with you to the hospital. So as bad as you feel about suffering the loss of a child you have to bear the burden of carrying the fetus with you. Please do not make light of it, it is not macabre, it it medical science. Until you‘ve walked in someone’s shoes………etc.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:42amI’m not making light of it. Like I said, I am naive about this. My step-mother also miscarried at home, but they buried it. They didn’t put it in a jar. I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage and having to take it to the hospital. It is a sad time for the parents/family and not something I would make light of.
Report Post »I just wanted to know why they would put it in a jar or even mention it in a book. During the 40′s, there were people in the country still giving birth at home.

It is not “medical science”, this is a child. I have not walked in your shoes, no, but I can tell you that I would not bring my child back home and keep him on a shelf in the library, living room, kitchen pantry or bedroom in order one of my surviving children might write about seeing him in a book someday.
This whole episode is outragreous and I think especially insulting to those like you who have suffered this horrible tragedy. That child ought to have been given a decent burial, not allowed to sit like preserves in the pantry. To have GW seek permission and his mother give it to tell us such a thing … it leaves me shaking my head.
