Barbara Bush: ‘You Can’t Dislike Bill Clinton’

Over the weekend former First Lady Barbara Bush shocked some when she took a jab at Sarah Palin, saying she hopes the former Alaskan governor stays in Alaska. Now she’s following that up with another surprising statement, this time saying that “you can’t dislike Bill Clinton.”
During an interview with Larry King that aired in full Monday night, Barbara admitted that while “it took me a little while” to warm up to the man who beat her husband and won the presidency in 1992, she now has nothing but good things to say about him. “You can’t dislike Bill Clinton,” she said. “He’s very likable. And he was so good to George… he would let George have the bed. I have a feeling Bill wishes he had a father like George, truthfully”:

I have no problem disliking the former Presidents for a long time, including Ol’ Billy. I can‘t recall but I’m fairly certain that she is also on record as holding several other “progressive” positions, she was just kept quiet about them. Bush is the best example of that. While I despise Clinton for the mockery he made of the office of the President, I have always given him credit for the things he did well while he was in office. Try finding anyone on the left who will even give credit to Bush for at least keeping us safe for eight years after 9/11. They are few and far between. Hypocrites, all!

Forget his policies just for a moment, suspend that for the conversation. The guy exudes charisma. So much so that it seems easy to get sucked into liking him that you start to believe his lies. Do you know the kind of person I mean? The really, really nice guy that makes you feel great, is always joking and always seems to have a good nature, that kind of thing? What was the term they used to call people like Clinton in the mob, confidence men I think?
If that‘s what she’s responding to, that may not be far off from the mark. Clinton does seem to have that “lull you into letting your defenses down” type of personality, most people think of it as “pleasant” or “very charming”.

No he didn’t. First, only Congress can present a budget, vote on it, and make it stick. The Congress at the time was Republican. Second, the way the budget was “balanced” was through taking things like Social Security and some other big ticket drains, off of the budget.

They were then able to bring prosperity to the country. Obama will bypass Congress if and when necessary. I hate to have to say this, but in light of who is in charge now, I like Clinton too. He is, literally, the lesser of two evils, although at this stage a moderate Dim has to move far left if he wishes to survive within his own party.
