Bay of Rage Continues: BART Shuts Powell Station Down Amid Latest Protest

Bay of Rage Continues: BART Shuts Powell Down Station Amid Latest ProtestThe Blaze recently reported that a planned protest in San Francisco called “Spare The Fare” – allegedly intended to shut the Bay Area Rapid Transit’s (BART) police force down — was set to take place at rush hour Thursday. The details of the protest, organized by a group dubbed “No Justice, No BART,” were covered on the anti-capitalist group “Bay of Rage’s“ website.

“Spare The Fare” explained its mission:

We are calling on anarchists, anti-authoritarians, and radicals (and everyone else) to step up for our “SPARE THE FARE” BART action, this Thursday at 5:00 PM at Powell Street Station.  We have one demand, which is that the BART police department be shutdown.

Now, CBS San Francisco reports that police have in fact closed down the Powell Street BART Station Thursday night as protesters closed in on the location.

The station’s shut-down reportedly came during a standoff between about 50 protesters and swarms of police in riot gear.

CBS adds:

Demonstrators gathered around 5 p.m. to protest the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Charles Hill by BART police in July.

Powell Street station was closed and around 20 to 25 arrests were made, according to police Deputy Chief Hartwig.

Protesters were still gathered outside the gates of the station as of 6 p.m. and police were demanding that all those inside the station, including reporters, leave the premises.

BART officials said all other stations were open and train service was on time

According to CBS, BART spokesman Jim Allison said the transit system has spent roughly $300,000 on increased manpower expenses during the protests that have taken place at San Francisco stations over the course of the past two months.

Again, and again, we see that what the socialist/ marxist, communist/ liberal/ progressive blames others of doing or thinking is exactly what they do and think. They are the poster children of HYPOCRACY.

This is nothing more than a practice run (as are flash mobs’ for when they are called to action by the people who want to breakdown our economy and create a crisis. The people in this ‘protest’ are nothing more than ‘useful idiots’.

Have they said WHY they want it closed down, or did they want it closed for no reason?

Opinion: two liberal protests both violent and costly to others; as much as half the protesters of one group of mere 50 arrested and thousands blocked, and the other took Guards held hostage destroyed big shipments; now everybody knows what causing their subway problems anti-capitalist feminist or female commies trouble makers in San Francisco, again, and shipping problem socialist violent greed, but sadly at the Port no arrest of anyone, why? Seems the longshoremen don’t think they have a winnable court case? But on the bright side bart police officers are getting over time / exact hours pay by allowing constitutional protests and having the rewarding satisfaction of lawfully arresting commie trouble makers.

Pass a concealed carry law first. It is time for a cull anyway. Maybe we could arrange for a simultaneous trial bar convention at the same time.

I AGREE with them. San Francisco should shut the BART police. While at it shut down the S.F.P.D. as well. Love to see that liberal utopian community go without police protection of any kind for 72 hours. Lets see how Liberals really behave I’m sure it will be blissful.

While they are at it, they may as well shut down the fire department, hospitals, and all other emergency services. We won’t have to wait for the next big S.F. earthquake for that city to be destroyed and burned. These anarchists will do it soon enough.

Hey, I say have a REAL “BAY of Rage’ — go to a bay. And we’ll hold a reproduction of the Tea Party dumping “tea”. Onlky this time in history, it’ll not be “tea” dumped over.

Don’t worry — they’ll be okay. Al Asharpton will save them. No? Okay, Jesse Jackson will save them. No? Well, damn.

I don’t have a problem with people wanting to protest something, but why make others suffer because of that protest? I keep thinking about the working individuals and others who needed to use that station to get to work, visit family, or head out with friends. Because these 50 people felt they needed to shut down a station, they made it even more difficult for others who are innocent victims of the protest.

This is just what Obama wants to see happen throughout this country. I don‘t think he’s going to go out quietly in 2012… in fact I don’t think he has any intentions of going out at all.

I’m betting that he will find a reason to suspend elections and institute Martial Law. He’s good at manufacturing a crisis… it’s the way Chicago politics rolls.

So what I am thinking is we had better WATCH whom it is we elect.. IF they aren‘t standing up NOW to these NUTS than they won’t after elected either.. Each election since REGAN we have gotten closer and closer to a dictatorship.. Since they know who orchestrated it: “The details of the protest, organized by a group dubbed “No Justice, No BART,” were covered on the anti-capitalist group “Bay of Rage’s“ website.”

I would say the City needs to sue the group to recover their costs. In addition, any businesses that can prove lost revenues due to this station being shut down should take them to court as well for damages. If these groups were slammed with the expenses associated with their actions I suspect they would rethink things. Like a peaceful assembly for their cause, instead of the usual collapse the system mentality that they use.

Exactly the right solution. Make them pay the city and businesses for lost revenue and increased security costs. In this case, $300,000 divided by 25 arrested. That will put some adult reality into their anti-capitalist, anarchist fantasy world. Cops just doing catch and release is a protesters joke. They don’t like the Constitution? Then I guess they aren’t expecting to be protected by 1st amendment rights for freedom of speech and assembly. Hope they get their a$$e$ beaten and thrown in jail. Didn‘t these 1960’s hippies die from old age yet?? Good grief.

they can’t debate on their policy because everyone knows how unions kill buisness,so they have to resort to imtimitation and violence, it’s their history, but this time I don’t think these people are the average union worker these people are a special group of union thugs, they are there for one reason and that is to start a fight NOT rally peacefully, have you ever seen a union protest where property wasn‘t damaged or violent rhetoric wasn’t spewed or violent attacts didn’t happen?

My biggest fear is that all these“protests” & “movements” which will no doubt become violent in some way, will lead our Government to act and come down on all of us…

I don’t trust Obama or anyone in his corner… In fact I will go further and say that they want this… they want things to get crazy. He’s hoping the unions will cause trouble. Look at what happened in Detriot… I mean this man has no respect for what being PRESIDENT means…He is looking for an excuse to issue more Executive Orders… I think he even said tonight something like HIS ADMINISTRATION can do blah blah blah on there own, without congresssional approval…

I’m in NY & last weekend was a little violent so Bloomberg said maybe it’s time for the Federal Gov to look at the Gun Laws again… I think couple this with what’s going on with Fast & Furious and you can bet they will jump on any chance to take them away and what better time then when people are RISING UP!!!
I’m starting to get nervous myself and watch my back more than in the past and I am trying to teach my daughter the same but she is still young. We might get a dog soon but we have to be smart.

    Don’t take the bait!!!
    Stay safe!

Just wall up San Francisco with a one way door (enter only) and give it independence from the United States. San Francisco really isn’t part of the US the rest of us know. They are so far over the rainbow that they’re all on a different planet. Just do me a favor and be sure that both Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein are inside the walls when they close. San Franciso is the US equivalent of Soddom and Gomorrah!

This is just the beginning. The unions, especially Obama’s beloved SEIU, are planning massive demonstrations on Sept 17. Now everyone knows when the left protests, nothing is spared from their rage. This next election cycle is going to be about violence, especially against the Tea Party and the left will continue to paint them as the instigators. But everyday Americans will see for themselves that it is the left who always cause all the problems.

Between the flash mobs and flash thefts, the protests of the “Bay of Rage” and the recent violence and vandalism and criminal conduct of the longshoreman union workers in Seattle; I cannot shake this feeling we are being more than set up in the nation for some kind of “event” to occur and soon.

The time has come when the pressure will build up worse and worse; soon to have violence become a common theam that each news report of the left will exaggerate and seek to make out larger-than-life in importance and impact.
