Beat by Hand or Stick: Islamic Marriage Guide Teaches Husbands How to Control Their Wives

A bookstore in Canada has sold out of an Islamic marriage guide that instructs Muslim men on how to beat their wives, according to the Toronto Sun.

Among the advice dispensed in “A Gift for the Muslim Couple” is to “beat by hand or stick” and “pull [her] by the ears.” The husband may also withhold money to exert control, though should “refrain from beating her excessively.”

The 160-page book’s description says it “deals with the subject of marriage and after marriage relationship, as well as the various pitfalls of marriage, causes of breakdown and their causes.” It was being sold at Islamic Books and Souvenirs in Toronto. The store’s manager told the Toronto Sun it had been sold out for some time. The owner refused to comment to the newspaper.

Beat by Hand or Stick: Islamic Marriage Guide Teaches Husbands How to Control Their Wives“[I]t might be necessary to restrain her with strength or even to threaten her,” writes author Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, described as a “prolific writer on almost every topic of Islamic learning.”

The book lists the husband’s supposed rights, which say the wife is unable to leave “his house without his permission,” and that she must “fulfill his desires” and “not allow herself to be untidy…but should beautify herself for him.”

Thanvi also writes that “the husband should treat the wife with kindness and love, even if she tends to be stupid and slow sometimes.”

Wasim Vania, president of the Islamic Society of Toronto, condemned the book, telling the Sun it “should never have entered Canada.”

“We were the first religion to give power to women. It is sad that someone would write this. We don’t have hatred in our hearts and we don’t teach this,” Vania said.

In January, a Canadian jury convicted a Muslim husband, wife and son of murdering three teenage daughters and a co-wife in what was termed an honor killing. The trial transfixed the country and prompted a debate about assimilating immigrants.

      No liberal politician will endorse this only because they only look at main stream news so will no see the story. If they saw the story, most likely they would talk about (around) it even being muslim without condemning it. Liberal politicians are afraid of saying anything that takes any stand again muslim teaching in fear of their lives or losing precious votes. following main stream news sources gives liberal politicians cover since they never see the story so don’t have to talk about it.

      I do not believe it is a matter of a specific “gene” as you say. It is more a response to conditioning. Any young man that comes up in a household where this is perceived as normal is going to do it as well. Yes there are exceptions. However, some men have not developed a way to assuage their anger so they lash out on their wives and children. They just haven’t been taught better. They are still responsible for their actions, but it is now a cultural issue, as well as a personal one. As a culture Muslim men need to see that physical violence is unacceptable as a means of control. A real man does not need to hit someone to rule his house correctly.

    I am a Canadian and live a few miles from the crime scene that the Blaze mentions. I have seen where the Muslim women were pushed, while in their car, into the water at Kingston Mills Ontario. I have seen the marks in the grass and the scrapings on the limestone walls of the locks where these ‘women empowering’ Muslims pushed the car into the water. I have heard a local Muslim leader, who is a nationally recognized female spokesperson and professor at a university, flatly deny that these were ‘honour killings’ and lecture Canadians about the display of anti-Muslim thought by those who called them so, despite the fact that the man and his son who killed these women, themselves, called these murders ‘honour killings’. Muslims lie. Muslims are determined to inflict their stone age beliefs on all of the western world. Civilization may have continued to develop since the times of the crusades. Muslims haven’t. My Uncle flew Spitfires over England, seventy yeras ago, to keep similar monsters out. His generation could see what needed to be done and did it. This generation; my generation, had better get our heads out because the fight is still on and we are losing.

      We have the same problem here – USA taxpayers give money to support Muslim only schools which is just as illegal. But then Media Matters is given tax exempt status by the IRS which is illegal also. Corruption and perversion of law is in both countries.

    This is off topic because the blaze like all other news outlets in the US are ignoring the fact.
    There has been a coupe in China, and all traces of the news is being wiped.
    Do a Bing or Google search for coupe in china before all instances are gone. It showed up on Drudge for only 1 day and was wiped, there was a detailed story on The Promethian Post that is now been deleted. All main stream media is following orders to not tell you about it.
    If this is true, it is a cause for great concern here in the US.

    I love it when hypocrisy rears its ugly head. Last week, we were being taught that a murderer of a black boy in Florida must be apprehended and killed. Today, he was the victim and we still have the vigilante murderer-wannabees running around.

    Today, we are being taught that beating your wife is evil. Yet, the Holy Bible teaches the same thing, but the Western World has abandoned its teachings. Not only that, Christians routinely break many of their 10 commandments, even together in groups, even willingly, even justifying them. Their pastors and ministers encourage the breakage of these laws, in fact.

    For instance, who failed to go to church yesterday, but is going today? Is today the Sabbath? Are you sure?

      The law all of my critics seem to ignore is “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.”.

      There’s also Leviticus 21:9 “And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.” (just in case anyone thinks the Holy Bible does not invoke corporal punishment on women). I am pretty sure that it would be OK to smack someone with a stick to try and correct them before resorting to burning them to death.

      I am not advocating violence, but I am condemning hypocrisy. So I judge when I shouldn’t, too – none of you thought I was perfect, did you?

      Of course, there are scores of passages in the new testament that advocate peace, serenity, non-violence, and more important than anything, LOVE. Those old laws also should not be denied, because Christ said he did not come to erase the old law, but only to augment it.

      In other words, all of those things modern-day Christians condemn (polygamy, corporal punishment, etc), are actually quite alright under the faith.

      Divorce, on the other hand, is quite saddening to the Lord. Yet, Christians are doing it and priests are sanctioning it.

      An honest christian will admit and acknowledge those elements of his or her faith that are not popular. In fact, one of the major tenets in the new testament is that everyone who ministered their faith were scourged, hung, etc. They were not popular, but they stood by their faith. They did not deny it.

      There was a story about a Muslim man who was shot in apparently robbery in the city next to mine. The cops thought it might be a hate crime or a robbery, but it later turned out the wife set it up and paid a hitman to do it.

      In the 80s I attempted to help a woman in a marrigae where she had secretly converted to Christianity from Islam. In the matter of a month she was taken back to Egypt. I doubt she is alive.

      Muslims have constantly been trying to conquer the west ever since Mohommad. He invented the religion in order to control a spread out population and raise funds. This is a fact. It is recorded in the koran that he needed more money for some war and, lo and behold, allah spoke to the people (through his messenger, Mohommad) to give more money to Mohommad.

      Islam is as transperant and silly as scientology. Once you have people believing in this stuff, however, you control them. Just look at any cult.

      The only solution is to defeat them and kick them out, as history has shown. The Romans learned this, the Spanish, everybody. And now it’s our turn.

      Unhappily, after it is down, 100 years will go by, people will forget, and the muslims will try again
