Yesterday, we reported that Fox News reporter Greg Palkot and his crew (including cameraman Olaf Wiig) were attacked while covering the unrest in Egypt. Today, Palkot has written a dramatic, first-hand account of the incident. Here’s an excerpt:
Still we waited for a turn in events. The anti-government protesters started targeted the building. When a Molotov cocktail smashed through the window of the room we were in, spreading gas over the floor, we decided that was it. We weren’t going to go up in flames. We were going to make a run for it. We rushed down the stairs and out on the street.
It was nothing short of a battle zone. Smoke filled the air, fighters scrambled back and forth across the no-man’s land between the two sides, hurling rocks, gas bombs, and other projectiles. Bursts of gun fire crackled through the night.
All the while, Egyptian soldiers stood on their tanks from inside the compound of Cairo’s museum across the street, watching it all, not interceding.
Heads low, with everything whizzing by, we scrambled in the direction of our hotel, straight into the thousands of the pro-government mob.
Ibrahim and the other colleague were able to blend into the crowd and left.
Within seconds Olaf and I were spotted as foreigners and attacked. They hit us with their open hands, their fists, sticks, bars, rocks, whatever was around, especially aiming at our heads. They grabbed us and punched us. Several dug through my pockets. All the while screaming madly in our faces. But still we pushed on. [...]
As [Egyptian Army soldiers] stood by, Olaf and I continued to be pummeled by the crowd. His shirt was off, he was writhing and was knocked to the ground twice. I somehow stayed upright but was losing strength fast and the hits were harder. Unable to make it over the high side of the vehicle, I thought Olaf and I were finished. A few more minutes in the crowd and it would have been all over.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:53pmMan I hope all those journalists are ok. It‘s a good sign that they’re good Egyptians out there but I fear that it won’t matter and the Caliphate will continue as planned which will start a Holy war between the Muslims and the Jews/USA.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:52pmI know we often give these reporters a hard time for going into the fray and chastise them when they get beat up, (Anderson Cooper), saying they should expect it.
But all in all, we need these eyes and ears to be there for us. We need to get first-hand info rather than govt. originated propaganda.
They EARN their money. Glad I don’t have to do that.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:45pmThat’s just Kharma. Anyone headed over there thinking this would be a cakewalk is kidding themselves. They need a long term peaceful solution. Mubarak leaving down immediately is a mistake. They need to have an orderly transition and turn the internet back on. It will allow the info from the rest of the world to seep back in and they can see what they are doing.

these people will not be happy till isreal is forced to protect themselves.
at witch time , like japan in the 1940′s , they glow in the dark.
only several well placed nukes will end this radical madness.
and thanks to our bow’r in chief. they’ll be forced to do as we did to japan.
and ya know, japan dont mess with anyone anymore, they learnt the lesson well.
iran, siria, lebanon, will have to exsperince this glow before they are stoped ..
it’s sad, but when it comes down to survival, isreal will have to use the big one..
only thing is , will they use it before iran

Domino effect
Report Post »From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The domino effect is a chain reaction that occurs when a small change causes a similar change nearby, which then will cause another similar change, and so on in linear sequence. The term is best known as a mechanical effect, and is used as an analogy to a falling row of dominoes. It typically refers to a linked sequence of events where the time between successive events is relatively small. It can be used literally (an observed series of actual collisions) or metaphorically (causal linkages within systems such as global finance or politics).

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:37pmFunny how this story about Egypt has morphed into stories of “poor me journalists”. I keep hearing these stories that are all about themselves rather than the politics of the chaos. I have no sympathy for any of them. They think being in Egypt now will allow them to “make their mark”. I hope the only marks they get are the ones from getting punched in the face. Sorry, sounds mean but they have no business there. Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:26pmYeah well, I love Palkot and all, but I watch Fox and he was clearly on the side of the anti-government protesters. That is not what you do as a reporter. No doubt those in Egypt’s government were watching too. I watched a ton of live feed and I don’t think the pro-government guys were the only ones throwing rocks? He and the rest are lucky we hold some sway over there. Well at least for another day or so. On a side note it seems to me that the most they had in any given rally was about 250K? Hell we had 500K down in Washington in August. Why was the world not asking for Obama to step down?

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 3:25pmI agree, I have watched Greg Palkot and he definitely is not what one would call neutral in his recap of events. Wait, he’s not a reporter is he, he’s really a commentator with views, oh, shame on me for not recognizing that fact sooner. Next we will hear that the tugs that rocked him were paid 2 euros to beat him, of course the government paid them to be sure, which government paid will be the next question?

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 3:53pmI agree. Fox news reporters, Palkot and Shepard etal are interjecting their opinions into this mess and inflaming the principals of this uprising. They too watch the reactions of the Americans. CNN, in the form of Anderson Cooper and others, are doing the same except they believe that it’s the “dawning of the age of aquarius” Egyptian style. No wonder they’re getting the crap beaten out of them! How about “you report we’ll decide”!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 11:49pmMany of the reporters were protected by Egyptians who were on the anti-government side. During prayers the Muslims protesters were protected by the Christian protesters. I thought that was sort of cool! Today there was no violence as the Army prevented the pro-goverment thugs from entering the square. Members of the Muslim Brotherhood are a small minority of Egyptians.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 1:14pmThat’s just about right hauschild. They had an interview on CNN where the people in the streets were chanting for the death of Jews and the United States. I would not want to be walking around in that crowd if I were either from Israel or America. The Muslim Brotherhood has already called for war with Israel if they get in power. So why is the Obama administration supporting those in the street? This isn’t looking good no matter how you slice it.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 3:12pmAll we hear from the MEDIA is that all of these attackers are PRO Mubarak. That the violence was all started by them also.
Funny I have been watching this since day one and you cannot tell one side from the other. Looks like to me it is just Muslims beating up Muslims. How the hell do THEY know who they are beating and whom is even in THEIR crowds!!!
It even looked like on the edges men were free to move from on side to the other!!!
Could all of these MEDIA attacks been COVERT Ops by the MUSLIM Brotherhood to MAKE Mubarak look bad???? Maybe the MEDIA was being attacked by JIHADIST that want to KILL all INFIDELS !! The MEDIA is quick to blame PRO-Mubarak people. When it was obvious the MUSLIMS had know idea WHO was WHO themselves !! One thing is sure the PIGS do believe in STONING each other to death and that my friends is SHARIA law at it’s best !!
Maybe that who was attacking the so-called PEACEFUL protesters yesterday too ???
The Muslim Brotherhood believes in the whole world ruled under a Caliphate !!
This is what the “Speech Giver” and the LEFT talk about all the time. Global Economy,Global Warming,Global Law, and Social Justice. Someone did a story yesterday about Bill “I do not know the definition of sex” Clinton the Freaking GLOBAL PRESIDENT !!!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 4:18pmMy observation is that the anti-government protesters were burning buildings and defacing the museum before the pro-government protesters even showed up. I consider destroying property and burning buildings that people could be in to be violent. So to say one side is violent and the other is peaceful is unfair. Each side is very violent. Each side is throwing rocks.

Posted on February 5, 2011 at 10:03pmCloward-Piven Principles:
Their strategy to create political, financial, and social chaos that would result in revolution blended Alinsky concepts with their more aggressive efforts at bringing about a change in U.S. government. To achieve their revolutionary change, Cloward and Piven sought to use a cadre of aggressive organizers assisted by FRIENDLY news media to force a re-distribution of the nation’s wealth.
(They used the media as ‘bait’ to make them an ally, and it has worked, so far)
In their Nation article, Cloward and Piven were specific about the kind of “crisis” they were trying to create:
By crisis, we mean a publicly visible disruption in some institutional sphere. Crisis can occur spontaneously (e.g., riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest which either generate institutional disruption or bring unrecognized disruption to public attention.

Ten states have already started the legislative process to require a certified copy of the long-form birth certificate and other certified documents to be attached to paperwork of anyone seeking the office of POTUS or congressional seat before they can be placed on the ballot. It would be a good idea to contact your state representatives to ask that they follow suit. Due process, people, due process! There is no entity who is charged with vetting presidential or congressional candidates. It is up to each of the sovereign states to protect us.
Meanwhile, the court martial of Lt. Col. Terry Lakin needs to be investigated by a House committee! The punishment handed down by the court martial that Obama has allowed is unconscienable! WE THE PEOPLE should stand up on Lt. Col. Lakin’s behalf! I am outraged! I am ashamed of Obama!
