Beck Announces Location Change for Restoring Courage Event Due to Security Concerns

On radio Monday, Glenn Beck announced a major change to his massive Restoring Courage event in Israel on August 24. The site of the event has been moved from the historic Temple Mount. It’s a move Beck says is due to security concerns.

“Last week I was told by several security firms that because of the people we have not announced yet … that some of the security services were getting a little nervous because of the high profile nature of this event and the volatility of the Middle East, and this is a country that has experienced the death of Itsack Rabine, who was a prime minister, and he was assassinated in an open public square.”

If something like that would happen during Beck’s event, he said, that would be “horrific.” Coupled with the information he received that 40,000 people are planning to be atop the Temple Mount for the Muslim holiday of Ramadan*, Beck said it was wise to move the event’s specific location.

“We have been asked if we would move the site. I concur, because courage must be coupled with wisdom, and the last thing we want to happen is for anyone to be injured in any way, or there to be any kind of conflict.” He also wants to defend from conservatives getting blamed for starting World War III in Israel.

Still, Beck said the change will not alter the event. “This is a very strong program,” he added. “It is a program that I believe will be remembered by millions in the world as a turning point … .”

Beck said he has not decided on a new location. That announcement will come within the next couple day. Still, he did offer some possibilities.

“It will either be inside the walls of Jerusalem, or it will be directly outside,” he said. It could even be “on the mount of olives.”

You can watch Beck make the announcement below:

For more information on the event in Israel, visit GlennBeck.com/Israel.

*The point about Ramadan was added to clarify that local Muslims are not planning a massive, 40,000-person protest of Beck’s event.

I wonder if Mr. Beck’s “Courage Rally” will be open to the $1.1 million Israeli Arab citizens identifying themselves as Muslim, or the 13 current non Christian Arab members elected to the Knesset

As long as they are peaceful, however given their record this is not likely. The muslims need to learn how to get their message across peacefully instead of blowing everyone up. They could learn a thing or two from Glenn Beck and Martin Luther King, Jr.

It would be courage if ‘one’ muslim was at the Temple Mount, when two or more muslim’s get together they do not act the same as when alone. So Canada_Goose, stop the stupidity. Post real thoughts not those of a hidden agenda.

As has already been noted buy other commentators Mr. Rabin was assassinated by Yigal Amir, a radical right-wing Orthodox Jew who opposed the signing of the Oslo Accords.

I find it ironic that a non Israeli like Mr. Beck will ban Muslim Israeli citizens from attending his rally sighting fears of previous violence actually carried out by a Jewish Israeli citizen.

One thing to keep in mind is that Jewish Israelis are very politically opinionated. There is saying that among the Jewish Israelis there are 6 million opinions on any given topic and the topic of the occupied territories (Judea and Samaria) is a particularly contentious issue.

Mr. Beck may be stepping into a hornet’s nest.

      @ConstitutionalPatriot

I am not sure what point you’re making. It would be courage if there was only one Muslim atop the Temple mount? And if more than one shows up it will automatically be a threat? I don’t get it.

If Mr. Beck’s message if one of Courage, Peace, Honour and Charity why would he have anything to fear?

I have been watching this evolve.
I don’t think this will turn out the way anybody expects.
On paper the premise appears sound and generates the goodwill and animosity expected from both sides.
      Israel is not washington DC.
One could expect security to be fluid right up to the event itself.

While this rally is above board in intention,
it is also pre-emptive response to what we see is coming at Israel.
Will it precipitate it ? Unknown.
      History either way I suppose.

One thing is certain, it has attracted the looney left’s paid trolls here in the US.
      That alone has entertainment value.

I do see this as a high risk venture, and one has to wonder why, besides the obvious stand with Israel.

Wow! I must have touched a nerve.

I was not suggesting that Muslim Israelis would be banned from the event. I simply asked a logical question given the facts posted in the story. My post stared with “I wonder if….”

Given that Mr. Beck was advised to move his event due to the proximity of a large group of “people” celebrating Ramadan.

So the logical question would be…. Would Muslims be allowed to attend?

Given that Mr. Beck did not reach out to Mosques during his My God is Your God speech at the Knesset. Which would have been a perfect opportunity to do so.

Also given Mr. Beck’s past anti Muslim rhetoric like 10% of Muslims are terrorists (about 100 million people) and his infamous question to Keith Ellison (first-ever Muslim congressman) “What I feel like saying is, ‘Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies’

PS I apologise for putting a “$” in front 1.1 million. I am a finance guy and it’s a habit.

Mr. Beck has made it very clear that all are welcome on 8-24. The 40,000 Muslims that he is referring to is an estimate of Muslims not actually there in Jerusalem but based on having the event so close to the south wall where one of the concerns is literally, lighting techs shining a light on that wall. According to the Israeli people, that would fuel a fire. Secondly, if you know anything about Israel, it is one of the most open societies to religion and people in the world. There are 3 major religions that look to Israel as the center of their beginnings and beliefs. One of them is Islam. As you you stated yourself, 1.1 million Muslims are free to practice their religion in Israel. Let me ask you this, if that many Arab Muslims are so excluded, why are they still there?

      @watchmany2k:

“I do see this as a high risk venture, and one has to wonder why, besides the obvious stand with Israel.”

To understand it, you have to see the big picture and Glenn gets it. The future of the West (and the world) lies in the safety of Israel. Someone has to be the first to stand up for her on a grand scale and hope to inspire the courage of enough people to save her. Looks like Glenn’s the only man with the b***s to do it.

Glenn also understands, as millions of us do, that God isn’t telling his believers to lay down and let him fight for us. He’s telling us that if we stand up, he will have our backs. That’s were our courage…and our power…comes from.

That and knowing that ‘quality of life’ (freedom) is worth dying for.

We certainly would not like that! How about the Australian man who received 40 lashes in Australia by unknown assailants because he recently converted to Islam but then was found to have consumed alcohol so they beat him with 40 lashes just like Mohammad did? The comment he made was not to deny Muslims the right to enter the Rally, his comment was to move the venue so as to not intrude on the Muslim commemoration of Ramadan. This rally is to support Israel and the Jewish People and their right to their home-land, Israel and Jerusalem. Any Muslim willing to accept and abide by these ideas are more than welcome I am sure. And you are correct Canada Goose that a zelot Jew shot and killed Rabin but then it was also an extreme zelot Muslim Terrorist, a member of the Muslim Brother-hood, that shot and killed Sadat as well. The Muslims of the world need to take lessons and learn how to live peacefully like we do in America. Here in America you will find Jews, Christians and Muslims along with Buddhist and other religions living on the same block, same neighborhood, same city and working at the same companies and sharing, having parties, eating lunch together laughing and being friends. Why can’t the rest of the world??????

You silly Goose, why pose such a foolish question in the first place? Do you think Israel would just throw open their borders to the “$1.1 million Israel Arab citizens identifying themselves as Muslim“ as you refer to them without thought to their historical dealings with these ”peace-loving” people? Perhaps you would prefer that the fun-loving Katyusha rocket launching drill team be allowed the prime seats on the hills overlooking the eventual site for this rally so that they may get the best line of aiming their weapons against their sworn enemy?

At to the 13 current non Christian Arab members elected to the Knesset, sure, why not? It seems that they might at least keep an air of civility about themselves instead of piling up rocks for throwing at Israeli troops. BTW, just who is the leader of this rouge bunch of kids anyway? Where are you coming from? The Muslims at the mosque will be there for 2 reasons: to pray and to throw rocks at the crowds on the other side of the wall. It’s amazing how those two things always seem to go hand-in-hand. It makes no sense to anyone who truly honors G-d, human life, and any form of civility. What is your definition of indigenous? Jews have been living in the region for thousands of years, at least well before the religion of Islam came into being. In addition, Arabs have been given many chances at claiming their own, self-run country — refused in the 30′s, before WW2, refused in 1947, after WW2, and continue to refuse. Why? One reason only: they cannot stomach the idea of a Jewish state, no matter how big or small. They cannot, by their so-called religion, accept the MERE EXISTENCE of a Jewish state. Jews have been bending over backwards to try to live peacefully as neighbors. As would be obvious to anyone who is not mentally challenged, the true provacateurs are those who won’t accept the right for a group of people, a “race” by Nazi Germany definition, to even EXIST on this earth, and that would be the those people you are defending, probably out of your own racism and anti-semetism. Why won’t you and your “kind” just accept the fact that this “war” is based on one thing only: Evil people want to destroy Jews and the Land of Israel. Those same people had no desire to contol the region until they faced the “threat” of a J

I have not heard the word ‘ Arab’s banned‘ from Glenn’s mouth. Glenn is also a big supporter of the AIFD and has no animosity towards Muslims or anyone. I believe it is a common feeling to be wary of all evil doers of all races or especially murderers or even on the least of the evil scale, prejudice people. Part of the event is also about standing up to ourselves and finding a way to overcome our own prejudices. That’s where most of the evil comes from anyways.

      No doubt LANA40.

Liberals suffer from addiction behavior. They have, for so long, identified with “social causes” to help fix their low self-esteem, that now, as they start to become aware of their years-long addiction, their anger of self and society has reached epidemic proportions.

It is only natural for addicts to blame others for their failures, and to grow more angry at the world. It is the normal process of self-healing.

Eventually, most Liberals will enter the depressionary phase of their addiction, and finally admit to their condition. But dont expect them to come out and admit that the Conservative Mindset was all along correct. Still wounded and embarassed, they will rebrand themselves as some sort of “New-fangled Conserv-o-matic” cult, that is more closely aligned with conservative ideals, but with some new-aged twist to it.

Watch how they evolve, as History unfolds, and mark my words to the change in their ideologies and group identification.

He got choked up when he announced Restoring Courage and said he didn’t even know if 2 people would show up. Then he announced that there would be 600 tickets available for the event. It had to have been organized during his previous trip to Israel, so when he got choked up about the “2 people” deal, he already was planning for 600 Americans and 1000 people from other countries. In order to get a ticket you had to get the VIP version of the package tours offered by chosen tour companies, one of which charged $500 more for the VIP package. Being an Insider Extreme member (which costs money) didn’t count for anything. Sure, you could take a cheaper package on your own (one of the two tour groups charged $5250 for their VIP package), but forget about tickets to the main event.

Now he has left Fox, where he had a show where people could learn about things, and I learned a lot, now he is doing his GBTV, which costs money to see. He wants to be “part of the solution” now. No way he can educate people who don’t know the things he talked about on his TV show; who is going to pay for GBTV unless they already know those things? His radio show has done nothing but plug Restoring Courage, GBTV, and his latest book. He has sold out.

Frankly, one had to be a bit potty to imagine that the original location was “secure”! Any one who knows the region, the city and its history, could tell beck and his entourage that they need to calm down and get it right, it is a problem when one has ideal and little historical understanding of what’s going on there. Just because a tourist came to Jerusalem and did not get hurt does not mean that he can go anywhere and do what he likes. Those who have a perspective of Jeruslaem beyond the short lifetime of Mr. Beck, saw the image of the original location and pondered: Is he ill advised, to be polite. If you want peace, set it in a stadium, a secure location, make sure you have lots of security experts on your pay, otherwise, you’ll run into trouble, and you will never know where to expect it coming from, just like you did not know that among the people who came to listen to beck in the Knesset were members of the odious Rabbi Kahane Kach gangsters, friends of Rabin’s killer Yigaal Amir, anyone who knows a bit about Israel, could see their faces and easily identify them. Beck is badly advised and is over the top when it comes to this project. If you do not want problems there with the Israeli left, helped with EU -NGO’s money or with various Israeli/Palestinian Arabs from Jerusalem, watch your back, because you are just the right kind of Charlie, they will enjoy going after. Good intention mean very little in this region. preparation and contingencies mean much more.

If Glenn Beck had courage he would discuss issues with people whom he disagrees with. Instead of engaging in any real debate, he just claims that anyone who disagrees with him is a Nazi, a fascist, a communist, an anarchist, liberal, elite, stupid, a terrorist, and anti-Semitic.

No, if Glenn back had real courage he would actually discuss the issues with people who can challenge him and not just limit his discussions to those who support his views.

In prayer for this event and all who will be attending in honor of GOD, ISRAEL and courage.

I ordered three signs to put around our neighborhood in support of this event and before I could even get mine up, I showed one to a friend who wanted it for his church! This morning another friend drove up and saw our sign and asked, “Where did you get that? I want one.” So, there went my third sign. His son wants a shirt and a wristband, but I drew the line in the sand on that one. : )

I wish I’d ordered 100 of the signs and wristbands. I would give them all away.

GOD BLESS you, Glenn. I believe the Eastern Wall is exactly where you all are to be. Let that LIGHT SHINE!

I’m sure the Israelis are quite relieved.

In fact, it’s likely that they were the ones who dissuaded Beck from holding the event on the Temple Mount.

Perhaps he should change the name to “Restoring Sanity?”

That would be nice. In fact, restore sanity and have such an event where it’s really needed, here in the USA where we are abandoning Israel. Israel knows how to take care of itself, with or without America. If the message is that anyone who fails to take a stand for Israel will be punished, as the Bible says, how is having a “Restore Courage” event in the place where the MOST courage exists doing the rest of the world any good? The entire POINT of having this in Israel was the location of all hte “holy” places (which is silly since a place is not where God is found). Now that the location has changed, Beck has nothing left. Restore sanity and cancel it. Beck needs to come back to America where the real test of courage is to offset our miserable state of tyranny, treachery, and corruption.

Israelis live with this threat all the time…..they are very good at their assessments! Think the event is a good thing, and hope everything goes well!! Want it to be an event for good….not for evil!! I, for one, will enjoy the event more without a mosque in the background……..the country side is much prettier.
