Beck Blasts HuffPo‘s ’Out of Context Evil’ for Story on Race Comments

On Tuesday, Glenn Beck explained and defended why he’s not a fan of using the term African American. Almost immediately, those comments led to several articles throughout the mainstream media blasting him. On Wednesday, then, Beck took time to explain why those articles misconstrued what he said.
The biggest offender according to Beck? The Huffington Post.
In a piece titled “Glenn Beck: Term ‘Colored’ Is ‘Not A Bad Thing,‘ ’African American‘ Is ’Ridiculously Stupid’ (AUDIO),“ HuffPo said beck ”insisted“ that ”‘colored’ was a better term.” That was news to Beck, who on his radio show Thursday delivered a nearly 15-minute response.
“Never did I say that,” Beck said. “Never.” He pointed to the use of quotes in the headline, which he said showed he didn’t make one continuous statement and that HuffPo had to pull from different parts of his comments to put together an attack.
“The Huffington Post yesterday or printed today something that is the biggest lie, fabrication, out of context evil I think I‘ve seen and I’ve seen a lot,” he said earlier in the program. “The Huffington Post takes something so far out of context, it’s not even close and you have to ask yourself, ‘why?’”
“Now, if you listened to the program yesterday, you know that is not what I said,” he added later. “That is so far from taking something out of context. That is a total and complete smear on my reputation.”
Beck pointed to a transcript from Tuesday’s discussion to show the context:
GLENN: The truly amazing thing what she said at the end if you can’t be true to yourself, what are you doing. If you can‘t find courage now you’re not going to find it when you really need it. It does take courage. That’s why we just had Restoring Courage. You have to not care about political correctness anymore. It doesn’t matter. Pat correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t you feel ridiculously stupid everywhere in Africa, in Europe, in South America, in Jerusalem, when you would say the say the words African-American?
PAT: Oh, yeah. Because it doesn’t apply there.
GLENN: It doesn’t apply. Now how can people be one thing in one country, and nowhere else in the world?
STU: Such a great point: What are you supposed to say? What is the acceptable term?
PAT: We don’t know.
GLENN: Black.
PAT: African British? African Israeli?
GLENN: Black.
STU: Just like white.
GLENN: It’s black. In South America or I mean in South Africa it’s black and colored. And I don’t remember the difference but there is a difference.
PAT: One was indigenous and the other had come from somewhere else.
GLENN: Yes, and I don‘t remember which one’s which
PAT: I don’t either.
GLENN: Maybe it was colored that was also Indian or elsewhere.
PAT: But we have been taught here that colored is really a bad thing to say. Because, ‘What color are they?” Well, okay, you got us to stop saying that but in other parts of the world they still do.
GLENN: Yeah, and it’s not a bad thing. Only here. Why are we made to feel bad? Notice this. African-American was not made to do anything except try to create a Superman, ‘oh don’t you dare feel bad about yourself, you’re African-American.’ No, you’re an American. Instead of building the country up and saying ‘look it, we all have the right here in this country. Look what happened with Martin Luther King. That makes you an American.’ Judge not by the color of your skin. And you weren’t over in Africa. You’re great great grandfather was, your great great great great grandfather may have been, but you weren’t. And sure this country sucked for blacks. Sucked. Beyond sucked for a long time. But it doesn’t now. It doesn’t now. Be proud to be an American.
Video of the relevant section from Tuesday’s show is below:
“The point of this monologue yesterday was, you feel how ridiculous it is when you are– you can’t just go up to someone and say…’hey, you’re a group of African Americans,‘ you’d never say that, but you can‘t say that because it’s inaccurate,” Beck said passionately, and agreed with his co-host Stu that people apply labels for “no reason.“ The two then pointed to part of the discussion where Stu praised blacks because they are ”American:”
I‘ve always felt it’s such an insult, the idea of African-American, that they for some reason need to have some qualifier…some distinction as if they’re different from us. They’re Americans. They’re just like us. They are 100% Americans. They deserve every right. And they have every responsibility that everyone else has.
“I‘m explaining what’s happening in South Africa!” Beck exclaimed after Stu pointed out that he’s not advocating for Americans to use the term “colored.”
He then scolded the media for seeming to have an agenda and issued a warning: “But the American people are already seeing through you. They’re already seeing through you. You‘re so arrogant and so lost you don’t even know that you’re time is coming to an end.”
“It’s coming,” he said.

The only purpose these types of labels have are to separate one group from another. One of the things that made this country great was peoples desire to assimilate and become ‘American’. To speak English, to become part of the United States of America. The types of labels like ‘african-american’ work to reverse that ideal, to the detriment of our society.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 3:16pmHAHA! Beck makes these race comments specifically to get a reaction from the media and keep his name bouncing around out there. He was ignored for the past 2 weeks for the most part. Nobody reported on his Israel trip and the SA trip. So he comes out with this racial stuff as a last resort to get attention. It’s so transparent. Once he’s on that GBTV thing, the media will ignore him completely if they really want him to go away. But places like HuffPo and MSNBC want Beck to mention them as well. This is all like professional wresting and you rubes are being played and goaded into a frenzy so you take sides and get their numbers up. Jesus would see through this dishonest game and would not approve of either side. Beck, get right with the Lord before it’s too late.

Personally I believe it is when you are a citizen of the United Stares. The addition of any word to American causes a false division in our culture.
Whenever i am asked what race I am, I always reply “American”, not white, black, brown, yellow, etc.Why not? When is being American ever going to be considered as much a race as European, Mexican, Chinese? Is there a rule i just do not know about?
When we allow ourselves to be put in a box that is somehow considered to tell us who we are, others will always use that box to separate us into what they want us to be rather than what we want to be.
it is sad that we allow ourselves to be defined by the color of our skin (or our possible origin) rather than the content of our character….. i wonder, would the man who first said this rather be called an American or an African …..American?

I agree. The color of ones skin should not define who he/she is. But- we have to get past white/black/brown descriptors as something that is bad. No one should be ashamed of their color. And if I use color to describe someone, he/she should not be offended. But- I have seen this happen first hand and it always baffles me. It is inappropriate to use African American as a descriptor for people of color as not all African American’s have colored skin. Myself- I reference colored people as people of color. A few years ago I heard that this was the appropriate descriptor. Now I am hearing differently, that using people of color when referring to the group is wrong and even offensive. Like everything else in this politically correct world, I am totally confused.

1Co 9:24 ¶ Know ye not that they which run in a RACE run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Heb 12:1 ¶ Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the RACE that is set before us,
How stupid we all look to allow such time to skin color.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 3:15pm@Venoye.. Actually the Bible does refer to race, except not in that term. Say when God said jacob I have loved but Esau I have hated. God has mercy on whom he will have mercy..it is His choice..not ours. and there were those created for destruction. Jews..which are a race, are His chosen people. There are other races in other countries..such as Haiti who were into Voodoo and I understand that this was a deal between Napolean Bonneparte at their leader at the time. There are other native countries who have practiced religions not unto the true God, but to evil. So in this respect..like I said, with believers in Christ Jesus, there is neith Greek nor Jew, male nor female. We are just believers joined in the body of Christ.

Mr. Beck is being criticized for his jingoism
It was particularly apparent in his rude comments last Friday when he was in South Africa.
He continued the same comments today in the segment before his tirade where he was naming countries and saying it didn’t make any difference what they thought.
Mr Beck outright lied when he said the Huffington Post didn’t have a recording of his words.
Although I never read the Huffington Post, I know the recording is there because Stu pointed out Mr. Beck’s lie.
If Mr. Beck would stop lying to his keys he would probably find his life more fulfilling.

Posted on August 31, 2011 at 2:37pmSnow…once again you are right on the money….. the “latest craze” sweeping this nation is the race card…. the congressional black caucus has been labeling ANYONE who stands for tea party principles as fanatically racist… putting us in the same light as the KKK, or neo-nazi groups… even trying to convince the youth that we want to see them lynched! I wonder why they call themselves the black caucus and not the African-American caucus??? anyway, all this is to deflect the fact that every single thing the libs and their leader have done…..FAILED MISERABLY!!!!!

@Marybethelizabeth, you need to quit wasting your time, here. Either contribute to the dialogue, or move on. This is “The Blaze”, not glennbeck.com; so give your “beck-hating” a rest. Better yet, instead of “airing out your stinky feet” here, why don’t you put some shoes on and walk on over to the Huffington Post, or wherever it may be, where you’ll be more at home.
Your “tantrum-throwing” is getting tedious. Find yourself another forum, where it is welcome. Otherwise, contribute to the dialogue, and let go of your sniveling, “but he said” prattle.
Bottom line for all similar rabble-rousers:

Beck’s “jingoism” as you so eloquently put it is a ray of sunshine compared to our Presiden’t apology tours, the American flag burning that you would declare “Art”, the first time in M. Obama’s adult life that she is proud of America…the Communist Anti-American rallys that took over the labor protests in Wisconsin, Ohio and across college campuses around the nation…the “La Raza” and “La Mecha” counter-culture movements claiming that almost HALF of the United States belongs to Mexico…The WW2 Vets, and former POW‘s that can’t fly a flag because of city codes and homeowner’s associations, the United States being persistently referred to as the “Great Satan” by leaders in one of the largest religions on the globe…should I continue…After all that, and more…its nice to hear someone say..I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN…and know that they mean it, and want to spread that feeling to others.
Glenn, unlike you, believes that America is an exceptional country, and has said on his program that if he were shown a better country that has a better system of government, a better Constitution he would gladly move there… But he will never be given this opportunity, because there is no greater nation. There never has been and never will be any nation greater than America. If you can’t feel that in your heart, I pray for you, to the God that you would erase from our Pledge of Allegiance..I pray for

Just like in animals, there are variations in the human species. Anglo, Indian, and Blacks are separate and distinct from each other. Also, can you imagine asking someone for identication and all they could tell you was how tall they were or possibly if they were male or female. All races are not the same. We also have cultural differences. But the liberals have made the effort to eliminate the race factor. This is insane really. Just politically correct which I have a great disdain for.

Because if you do you are a racist!!! Take it a step further who is the first one to pull the race card in this type of situation? I will argue those that will do this are racists indoctrinated by Sharpton, Jackson, Lee, Waters etc etc. Huffpo is as corrupt of an organization can be. They do this to rattle Becks cage and put him on the defense. Ya see there is a pattern and when you see it you understand it.
What needs to be done is for folks on the side of right and just to fire back at these people. Call their bluff demand proof otherwise these people are the real racists! This should be spelled out, if one calls you a racist with no proof go on the attack demanding it where if they dont deliver it proves they are the real racist! The point here is to put them on the defense, take their power away. Folks you have to stop getting sucked into this game of the radical left they set the rules and for some reason “we” play by them. Beck is guilty of falling for this he should have made racist claims at them for this and make them prove their case! Stop playing their game start playing their game http://SavingtheRepublic.com

The way we use it here it does not have to be a white person either, it just means someone that is country or old south Florida.
