Beck Blasts Obama Over Chinese Dissident: Congratulations For All Your Work in Human Rights

During his Thursday evening broadcast, Beck turned to the plight of the blind Chinese dissident who is desperate to flee China with his family and seek asylum in the Untitled States. His only crime? Chen Guangcheng, a lawyer, opposes his government’s policy of aborting children to keep families within their one-child quota. This crime has subjected Chen to numerous human rights abuses. A political prisoner for years under house arrest, Chen and his wife have been subject to multiple beatings by China’s guard.  The Daily Beast’s Melinda Lieu spoke with Chen on the phone, below is just a small part of the chilling story he told her.

Our home was surrounded by guards, lots of guards. Our friends weren’t allowed to visit. If we tried to go out we’d be beaten, often with clubs.” Security personnel had even escorted his young daughter to and from school; Chen and his wife hadn’t seen their son for two years before their reunion at the hospital.

Chen escaped house arrest and fled to the U.S. embassy for help, only to be turned away, presumably to preserve diplomatic relations leading up to an American-Chinese summit. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, along with the rest of the administration are asserting that Chen left the embassy of his own accord, when it turns out he was told by U.S. officials that his family would be tortured if he remained at the embassy or took asylum. To make matters worse, he sustained injuries during his initial escape and now cannot walk as a result — leaving him both sightless and without the use of his legs. No doubt an unsettlingly vulnerable state to be in when one is assailed by the Chinese government.

Beck then congratulated President Obama for all he does in furthering the cause of human rights around the world. He also posited that the administration‘s decision not to help could have something to do with Chen’s pro-life stance.

    WH and the State Department have no power. Their Foreign Policy tools are words, sanctions, money, amd food. Just last week the U.S. said it wouldn’t get involved in the China-Philliphines dispute. Are the sanctions or talks with Iran making any progress? Was free food offer to starving North Korea effective. “Friends of Syria” reminds me of the 50′s UAR. More like enemies of Russia, than friends of Syria.
    On May 1, 2012 Obama issued an executive order having the Treasury Department expose individuals and organizations doing tranactions with Syria in violation of imposed sanctions. The IMF nixed Obama’s executive order.

      Similar to Ann Coulter when GB gets more absurd with his statements he is trying to get mainstream media attention because he feels irrelevant or has a new book coming out. Either way it reinforces that the motive is more marketing than it is conviction or passion for the issue.

    What do you expect from a guy who orders the illegal assassination of Americans as well as foreigners overseas, the.deployment of U.S. troops in foreign soil without congressional approval, and the coddling of human right violator such as Putin, Chavez, et al? Oh, by the way, he is a Nobel Peace Prize winner!

    The parts the Blaze missed was 1) when Jay Carney tried to dodge the questions about the Human Rights that was missed. 2) Then there is the story about how the State Dept is 66 days overdue on their human rights report. Then what about Romney hit on Obama calling it his ‘Day of Shame’ What about the article about how Chen friends reported that the Embassy conveyed the message to Chen that his wife would be tortured after they said they had nothing to do with the message.     I hurt for those that have lived under that fist ,and weep cause free people are
    wanting this. When your eyes look back and see what you’ve lost the flame

    Human rights are thrown under the bus if it gets in democracts way of getting what they want.
    Chen was given back to the communist chinese government so Obama could get him out of the way so they could talk trade and monetary issues.
    When Bill Clinton was selling the US out in china, getting them in the World Trade Agreement, a old chinese christian lady approached his table and pleeded with him not to do this unless china gave their people freedom and human rights. I bet she is was killed for embrarrassing the chinese government.
    The republicans wanted this trade agreement also, but would not let china in without them getting their human rights for them. That was the only leverage we had, Clinton threw it away.
    Bill Clinton gets NAFTA past in 1994.
    Clinton gets China in WTO,said it would be a WIN WIN for US.
    Obama gets 3 trade agreements past in the last few months,S Korea,Columbia,one other.
    Obama now wants a trade agreement with India, last one out turn off the lights.
    Obama is now running an ad saying Romney will send our jobs over seas…Please!

    What makes Chen Guangcheng so special ?? Should we give everyone asylum that breaks the Law in their country ? Can we police the world……..Should we give the mexicans asylum from mexico.

    We are now the puppets of China. All the Federal land is reserved for them. The timber, and any other resource under it. Hence why we are not drilling, I would bet that we were told to stop drilling and reserve the oil for china. Our spending needs to stop.

    Does everyone remember when Hillary joined in with other countries and charged Arizona with Human rights violations for their immigration law? I wonder if old Hillary will report CHina regarding the CHen human rights violations? Hillary is a JOKE!

    Dead man walking. Chen will spend some time in the hospital exhausting media intrest. Finally the lamestreamedia will abondon their poster child infavor of their number one poster child. Chen will disappear, his wife will disappear, his whole family will disappear.

      I agree that we should not meddle in other’s business.

      When he comes to our embassy, he becomes our business and he is no longer China’s business. This isn’t a case of meddling. This is a case of taking care of our own business in the wrong manner.

    When the Obama Administration kicked Chen out of the embassy and turned him over to the Chinese, they took him to a hospital. I wonder which high-ranking Chinese government official or wealthy European power broker will get his harvested organs.

    Elian Gonzalez come to mind. At least he has lived. Chen and family have about as much chance as a snowflake in hell now. Thank you 0bama, Hillary, and so many of her staff at the state department. I’m sure that ambassador did not want to loose his job.
    On my first tour in Germany I get the chance to meet and shake the hand of the Canadian MP NCO who as a corporal at the time, lead a small group of American Embassy personnel through Teheran to the Canadian Embassy. I believe it was 12, but am not certain. Well, our ambassador to China certainly does not have the balls of this man.

      party has squat to do with anything. there are progressives, marxists on both sides . and politicians are looking out for their own. you either want limited govt or not. but you dont get to pick your master. as for obama, obama was the one touted as the second comming..obama and his crew are talking about ‘social’ justice and made to be a god. remember the nice nobel prize for….uuhhmm…uhhh.. oh yea ‘hope n change? sure beats out the woman who protected orphans from the nazis dont it. NO republican has ever been held up like that ever. hell washington and lincoln are not even held up that high. i am as against the patriot act as you, but one dosent justify the other

    Let the blind dissident in with 100 million of his seeing eye intellectuals. They will refurbish the U.S. with smart managers for our factories and offices. Without brain power our nation will soon resemble Sub-Sahara Africa with its mud huts.
