Beck Calls for Support for Catholics as Soros-Funded Organization Encourages Media to Attack

The Soros-funded organization Faith in Public Life has an interesting strategy for encouraging public engagement with Catholics. As The Blaze reported this week, John Gehring; Catholic outreach coordinator for Faith in Public Life, recently emailed leftist talking points and interview tips to the media for interviewing bishops during the “Fortnight for Freedom” events over the next month. These events are organized by the church, and campaign for religious liberty and speaking out clearly against recent unprecedented attacks from the federal government. Gehring’s email is intended to inform the media on what is “fact” and “fiction” in regards to recent political standoffs between Democrats and Catholics.
Some things that the Soros group deems as fiction? That there is a “war on the Catholic Church” and that “the Obama administration is pushing an ideological agenda that is out of step with most Catholics and Americans.”
What are some of questions FPL suggest journalists ask Bishops:

On June 7, Gehring sent a memo to his buddies in the media (a copy of which was generously leaked to me—click here) instructing them on how to handle the bishops. They should begin by questioning the prelates why the Obama “accommodation” wasn’t good enough. “You have to ask why the bishops can’t take yes for an answer,” he wrote.
Teaching them how to handle the “war on the Catholic Church,” Gehring advises, “Several bishops have used inflammatory and irresponsible rhetoric that conflates a process of working through complex policy issues with a fundamental attack on the Catholic Church.” He also frets over the politicization of the religious liberty campaign, an effort made possible, he neglects to say, because of the politicization of religion by President Obama.
Not to be outdone, Gehring presses his lackeys to victimize the victim, beckoning them to ask the bishops—all of whom refuse to prostitute their principles—“Are you willing to sacrifice Catholic charities, colleges and hospitals if you don’t get your way on the contraceptive mandate?”
Finally, Gehring provides a go-to list of Catholic activists who can be counted on to subvert the bishops’ message. It’s what we would expect from a George Soros group.
On GBTV Thursday, Glenn Beck took aim at the memo and encouraged viewers to support the “Fortnight for Freedom:”

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 7:38amI find the hypocracy of the Catholic church, as well as other conservative churches, to be staggering. They don’t want to be controlled. They don’t want government stepping on their religious liberty. They want to be free to practice their religion, as they see fit. And yet, they agitate for limiting freedom constantly. These are the people who want to decide for the rest of us who or how many we should be allowed to be in love with or marry. These are the people who want to decide for the rest of us what we should be allowed to watch, listen to, what games we should be allowed to play, how we should be dressed. These are the people who think they have the right to determine morality for the rest of us. What about our rights to be free of conservative Christian relgion and dogma? What about our rights to prctice our religions, or no religion at all for some? Where do they stand on religious liberty when asked those questions?

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 11:56amRealLib, get a clue, when you make these claims this shows me that you are a progressive in a libertarian clothing. You have ignored what the progressives have been doing to you, no pop, no smoking, no coal, no carbon dioxide, no choice, no liberty, full control of our lives from cradle to grave. The right of religious freedom is a tenet of our constitution. We worship as we see fit, we have the freedom to suggest that in the teachings of our Creator we would like to have a society free of the burdens of sin, we understand most will not chose to be within that framework. We do not use the media to bully you or anyone else to adapt to these tenets, we don’t create laws to ban or make you worship our Lord and Savior. We promote life at all stages, we hope that we all can live for the betterment of mankind, we suggest feeding the sick and take care of the poor and indigent. If you have a guilty conscience as to how we suggest you live maybe thats a good thing. We are all in the battle between good and evil, Catholics and non-Catholics alike. I hope you understand that the Church is here to provide spiritual growth and not impose its will on you. Government is the only one that has that power when we allow it. God’s peace with all of you

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 7:33pmAbsolute rubbish. If this was a thread about liberals, believe me, I’d point out all the ways that they restrict freedom, same with social conservatives, but this is a thread about the church so I limited my remarks to that topic.
Report Post »You may not make laws to make me worship, but you are certainly involved in the laws that ban many kinds of freedom. Starting with reproductive choices, and the conservative Chrisitans attempts to ban gay marriage and gay rights. Those same churches have been involved with trying to censor TV, movies, music, games, and the internet. In some areas, those churches have been involved with attempts to legislate dress codes. In short, , they have been involved with and sponsors of, attempts to ban anything they think is sinful or bad for society, no matter what the rest of us think.
Finally, as a Wiccan, I have seen first hand how the conservative Chrisitan church deals with those who they do not think should be allowed to worship as we please. Protests, attempts to ban our worship on federal property, refusals to share the town green at Winter Solstice, just some of the milder issues that we have been confronted with.

Posted on June 24, 2012 at 6:32amWell! So how many people do you want to marry?
I just want to address a part of your statement.Catholics and the Church only wish to participate in the process by which what we watch and listen to is determined. Is that O.K. with you? After all just because the airwaves have been stolen from the American people by a few corporate giants is no reason to object to or have reservations about what they are doing. Right now what we watch in this country is controlled, dictated and imposed by an absolute media dictatorship. If Catholics the church and other concerned Americans were allowed to participate in the process it might serve to make the whole process more democratic and more reflective of the diversity of this rather large and multi-faceted country. I’m sure the level of programming would improve. Anything would be better than the slop that passes for entertainment that we now get.

On it, there is “World Over”, a news shows about what is really happening around the would with the Catholic Faith and the people in it. It points out the Good AND the Bad things that are going on around the world, how the Church is dealing with these issues, or what is in there way.
The last few weeks have been pretty much on the issues with Religious Freedom, the President, Sebilias, the Bishops Conferences, the ‘bus of nuns’, other radical nuns that have gone political and are not even following the Church’s moral Teachings, guest Congressmen who are pro-life, the ‘Fort-Night of Freedom, the law suits in 12 states against lost of freedom, etc,etc etc.
It gives the most accurate story of what is going on in the US and the rest of the world, including the mass murder of Catholics you hardly ever here of, even on FOX. It’s good and realiable, if you really want to get to the sources of where the problems are.
It will tell the Good and the Bad of what is going on, in and with, the Church, and what is being done about it. It’s on about 3 or 4 times a week. New coverage, I think starts on Wednesdays. Watch it.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 12:50amI was raised Catholic. There is not any organized religion or any belief system that has not had people who were weak, unstable, sometimes evil within. That is because people are human, have freedom of choice and often do not withstand temptations. There are many things I disagree with in this or other churches and still I respect the Ten Cmmandments, because they are a logical, moral, decent tenets by which to live. It can not be hurtful to anyone, if such guidelines are goals of ones behavior (unless of course, you are very liberal and not only resist it for yourself, as well as expect to force others to do as ordered. The Church cannot “make” anyone do anything, one is allowed to follow his or her own path and we do reap what we sow, all the usual cliches, what goes around come around etc., there are consequences for every choice we make, here and/or in the hereafter, if you choose to believe that, & for those unwilling to believe in a God, well, guess you had better truly have no concerns about that, just in case you are wrong :). Other than radical Islam, I don’t care what religion you are, just don’t think I want you to force your beliefs on me! Murder is murder, some things are illegal or logically inherently evil. Most of America has principles and try everyday to do the right thing. That is what has made this such a great, for the most part law abiding country until all things have become topsy turvy! I feel the winds of change. How about you????

No, I think you are disgusting. Bill Donahue is the head of a group defending Catholics from haters like you.
He is defending the church from people who say every accusation is necessarily true and every Catholic is a child molester. Your video is exactly the evidence of the problem.
“Bill Donohue calls child rape victims gold diggers” – They are accusers not victims. He obviously would not call the victims gold diggers, he is calling SOME accusers that. And he is correct. Legal investigations have show an increase in frivolous or baseless accusations.
Like the race baiters, these anti-religious groups are using this tragedy to attack Christ’s church. And yes some false accusers (who are not victims) are claiming they were physically abused by nuns because they were slapped for bad behavior — just ridiculous.
Catholics have a right to stand up to false accusations and that is what Bill Donahue does.
Report Post »NJBarFly
Posted on June 22, 2012 at 12:37amThere are literally thousands of accusations. While I understand that there are pedophiles in every walk of life, the numbers in the catholic church are far higher than society at large. Instead of contacting authorities when the church had evidence of sexual abuse, the church hierarchy moved priests to other parishes where they were once again in contact with children. And surprise, surprise, there were sexual allegations in the new parishes! Bill Donohue has defended the priests by saying that because some of the children were in their early teens, the priests are merely homosexual and not pedophiles. His other reaction is to immediately attack the alleged victims. I stand by my position that he is a disgusting human being. If you want to be an apologist for a group like this, then I hear NAMBLA is recruiting new members.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 2:04amBarfly, you are presenting a closed mind. The interviewer and his friend were clearly anti-catholic, as can quickly be discerned from their emotionally-driven generalisations.
I think that you are also wrong in your assertion that there are more pedophiles in the catholic clergy than any other walk of life. The molestation of children by some priests came under the public spotlight because of repeated attempts to sweep the problem under the carpet – and rightly so.
Because this hit the headlines repeatedly for a while, the problem appeared to pervade the entire clergy, which is simply not true.
All of the catholics that I know, and one of my friends is a catholic priest, are dismayed and embarressed but these perverts.
Female teachers have been featuring prominently in the media in recent times for illegal sex with minors. Does anybody in their right mind label female teachers as predominantly perverted? Only a stupid, closed-minded, person would. And the same applies to any walk of life, as perverts, though small in number, are everywhere.
But it suits you to use the actions of a few as a lash with which to excoriate an institution that you detest.
Report Post »Patrick Fitzmichael
Posted on June 22, 2012 at 10:38amNJBarfly,
I listened to the Donahue clip. It seems clear that me that the people he was calling gold diggers were not the victims but the false accusers. Do you not understand the difference between the two?
There have been large monetary payouts to victims by the Church. Do you think that it exists somewhere in the universe of possibilities, that someone might make a false accusation just to cash in on the payday? I actually work with a guy who told me that his uncle did exactly that. He was kind of a loser with a drug habit and he decided that he could get rich if he jumped in line with the accusers. He probably snorted his way through his settlement in a week.
None of which means that there are no genuine victims. Those are not the ones that Donahue was referring to.
Here’s the rub with the sexual abuse thing. Yes, there was abuse, and those priests deserve to be punished. The bishops too. But every time the issue of our religious freedom comes up, the counterargument seems to be that Catholics don’t have first amendment rights because “Priests rape boys!” It wreaks of an ulterior motive.Concern for the victims is not their priority. Stripping us of our rights is.
Actually, the rate of sexual abuse among priests is no higher than among men generally. The reason people have the mistake impression that priests are pervy is disproportionate media coverage.

I didn’t really become a true practicing and involved Catholic until I joined the Blaze. The Catholic bashing infuriated me but I couldn’t argue the biblical points. Posted on June 22, 2012 at 2:25amRealLiibertarian, there is, in fact, a war on religion.
All totalitarian regimes attempt to diminish and demonise religion. Think USSR then, and China now, amongst many others.
Free religious practice is a threat to such regimes, so they invent one that they can control (Islam) and try to crush all others. Even the UN is guilty of this. They have invented the “earth charter”, complete with commandments, that they are trying, somewhat unsuccessfully, to use to sideline mainstream religion.
Soros is trying to push the world toward a socialist, one-world government. And to capture the young minds of the future, he and his fellow travellers need to discredit the various religions that exist today and promote a unifying and controllable alternative.
If you study history, their intentions become obvious.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 12:13amIm catholic but I sure in the the heck didnt vote for Obama. I do support the church tho,, for the simple reason, that Obama’s healthcare is being shoved down our throats. Kinda like the immigration law and wars he has shoved down our throats. I don’t like the way he is taking away our rights either.

You are an idiot. Catholics voted for Obama in the same proportion as the rest of the country.
Conservative Catholics voted overwhelmingly against Obama.

Posted on June 22, 2012 at 1:25amSmokey, if you leave the catholics to fight this battle on their own, who will you ask for help when they come after something that you really care about?
Such as the 2nd amendment. And you know that they are already warming up for that one, don’t you.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 10:11pmThanks Bill Donohue and Glenn Beck, for shining a light on the anti-Catholic, anti-religious freedom group funded by Soros.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 10:40pmWhat about Beck shinning a light on the role that Donohue and his Catholic League has played in assisting the Bishops in covering up the Priest Abuse scandal? Questions about the the Bishops play politics with an employment issue are not an assualt on religion, but a challenge members of an group of unelected community leaders.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 10:34pmYou mean the evil of Donohue, the man that has gone after the victims of Priest abuse and helped the Bishops cover up the scandal?
Sorry the Bishop have taken a employment dispute and attemtping to enter politics with it. The Bishop sdo not have clean hands, nor is the catholic layity behind them. Even the Jesusits are rejecting the hardline stance of the Bishops.

You are a liar.
He has gone after some false accusers, not the same thing as going after victims.

Donohue has gone after anyone that dares question the Catholic Church, he is quiet about the $20,000 in hush money the Bishop Dolan paid in hush money, but attacks victims suing the church.

Hush money? You evil lying propagandist hater.
There was not hush money, it’s called severance and every priest that is removed from the church was given severance pay. Since they now have no home, no job and no food, the church gives them separation pay, like any salaried full time job would pay.
This was paid to priests who left for any reason. If they lost their faith or just could not do their duty.
This is the type of thing Donahue is focused on. Correcting false accusations from Satan’s minions, like you.
