Beck & Crew Talk Marine Video Scandal: ‘There’s No Righteous Man Upon the Earth Who Does Good and Never Sins’

A video depicting what appears to be four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban terrorists has caused a lot of commotion among members of the mainstream media and U.S. politicians.
Recently, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) weighed in on the situation and admonished harsh critics of the Marines in an email writing, “unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”
Today, on the heels of Rep. West’s comments, Glenn Beck, Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere gave gave their own take on the scandal.
“I want to talk to you a little bit about the going‑on in Afghanistan with our military, and it’s not going to be a popular stance and may not even be the right stance but it’s my stance,” Beck said.
“I want to talk about the urination on dead bodies by our troops. Understand that when I get to my opinion, I speak as a guy who has not been in war and I understand war is hell, but I want to give you a little perspective and we’re going to bring David Barton in as well who, you know, has sons who have been in the military and have served and I just want to talk to him about the historic perspective of the nation we should be, not the nation we are or not the nation that we ‑‑ that, you know, takes the easy way out. The compassionate nation and the nation that we should be.”
Watch Beck & crew discuss the scandal via glennbeck.com:
“Here’s what Allen West says: The Marines were wrong. Give them the maximum punishment under the field grade level Article XV non-judicial punishment, place a general officer letter of reprimand in their personnel file, have them in full dress uniform stand before the battalion, each personally apologize to God, country and the corps, videotaped and concluded by singing the full U.S. Marine Corps hymn without a TelePrompTer. For everybody else, unless you’ve been shot by the Taliban, shut your mouth. War is hell,” Glenn explained.
“The only thing I disagree with on this is the last line,” he said.
“We have to start with, these guys were wrong. That doesn’t mean that you don’t understand what they’ve done, it doesn’t mean that war isn’t hell,” Glenn said.
“I think degrading their bodies by peeing on them is despicable honestly. I understand the anger. I understand the frustration. I haven’t had all of my buddies killed. If my buddies were being killed, I get it. It did happen in previous wars,” he said.
Glenn cautioned, however, that “it’s not a criminal thing and they should be disciplined because I believe our corps needs to be more disciplined than that.”
“Last night I was just reading Ecclesiastes. Try this: There’s no righteous man upon the Earth who does good and never sins,” he said.
“In other words, in other words, if you’re in the world and you are actively trying to change the world, you’re going to make mistakes.”

This is what happens when you go to WAR, with Smart Bombs………
Give the the Old Fashioned Kind that JUST BLOW”S EVERYTHING UP!!!!!!
I don‘t need it to fly through the Freak’ing Window and kill one guy, it could be off by a mile as far as I’m concerned. As long as the guy wound up Dead I’m good. As for the rest “Well War is Hell”……
The whole idea of going to war in the frist place is to KILL YOUR ENEMY until he can’t Kill you any more. What does that mean Monkey? Until he’s Bent over like Obama, with a tube of KY in one hand, and a White Flag in the other, You Ain’t Done…………

Uh… the “well meaning” are just as dangerous as tyrants.
i‘m not saying we shouldn’t defend ourselves or fight for others when they ask. but. “actively trying to change the world”, that is the problem… why are people trying to change “the world” instead of their own lives? trees grow from ground up, not top down. lead by example, not by force…
you can sit and justify murder all you want, unless you kill in defense, it’s immoral.
and people say war is hell, that is false, in hell, there are no innocent victims.

That, as one wise man put it, “Rationalization is more important than sex, because no human goes a week without rationalizing. And the bible as with other religious text are the greatest tool of those who rationalize. Any form of rationalizing, excusing or accepting of this behavior moves us one more step away from the simplest yet strongest moral rule….The Golden Rule. Point being would those who seem to agree with or excuse this behavior feel the same if the situation was reversed or even better the dead solder was their son, daughter, brother or sister. Posted on January 16, 2012 at 9:34pmIn a nutshell, soldiers and marines are trained to kill people when ordered to do so while placing themselves directly in the paths of those who are trying to kill them. During wartime, being a soldier is being asked to do one of the most horrific things a human can be asked to do.
Soldiers and marines adopt all kinds of crass coping mechanisms for dealing with this horror and among them is a dehumanization of the enemy. That is what is occurring here.
Do we as civilians have the right to set expectations for conduct? Sure. However, we civilians have no right to pass judgement. We failed our task. We failed to elect representatives that would adopt the foreign policies to keep us out of war and in so doing have required our youth to clean up the mess. Now we want to snivel about it not being tired enough.
Let the combat soldiers judge combat soldiers. Also let those of us who wish to invoke God do so while remembering that when He called for war, He called for complete destruction. There were none of these politically correct rules of engagement for the Almighty.

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 10:02pmI honestly appreciate Glenn taking that position. On this subject anyway, he has a broader understanding than most here.
Certainly in war stuff happens. US soldiers are trained to kill the enemy, they see their friends killed and they witness all the horrors of war. Anyone would have a hard time switching off all those emotions once the battle is over. I understand that, or try to, not having been in that situation.
But these soldiers violated their own code of conduct as well as the Geneva Convention. But there‘s a larger issue in terms of America’s goals. I have no doubt that the soldiers at Abu Graib urinated on their captives (or something similar) before they went on to the other things depicted in the thousands of photographs that, as Bush said, were a stain on American honor. These acts work against the best interests of the United States.
We’d like to feel like we are taking the high road, but these actions, viewed by horror and disgust by the rest of the world, diminish the view that the US is the moral leader of the world. And they provide recruitment video for terrorists.
Maybe the soldiers thought it was a college prank, but their actions reverberate around the world, just as the actions of soldiers at Abu Graib did. The military knows this, even if you don’t.

Hey JZS, you seem to have tempered your stance a bit compared to last night.
I just read all your posts from the original story again, and nowhere in any of them did you show any level of understanding or compassion for the Marines involved whatsoever. What you just wrote is much the same thing that many here wrote last night, and you would have nothing to do with it
And all the while you were purposely mischaracterizing many of my comments.
Why the about face?
Oh, that’s right, I forgot, you have two of them.
And when you have a minute, would you explain how aborting millions of unborn children enhances our “moral” standing in the eyes of the world?
Although the rest of the world does not seem to be much more moral than we are lately so maybe you are right?
Maybe it does not matter?

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 12:37am@JZS… With all due respect… Horse Exhaust.
In most places, a mob of armed young men means that civilians run for cover. Not so with the American serviceman. He is generally mobbed by children or greeted with smiles from adults. On those occasions where he is less than welcome, his detractors feel safe enough to curse him out to his face.
It‘s been that way for decades and it remains that way today and thousands of urine drenched Taliban corpses won’t change that. The shores that our soldiers our soldiers serve on are far less squeamish than our own. In fact, any offense expressed by the native populations is generally a feigned one designed to play to western sensibilities. Seriously, these jackals bury people up to their neck and bash their skulls in with rocks.

As I said to you last night, your side screams the loudest about how horrific these actions are, and how much danger it will bring upon our troops.
But yet it will be your side that will not let the issue fade in to the sunset. You will harp and rail on it over and over for a perceived political benefit, further fanning the flames of hate that you claim were ignited by the actions you say you so despise.
And just to prove my point JZS, I am going to pay special attention to watching the media for stories about this event. I’m going to keep score and present it to you each and every time it occurs over the coming months.
I don’t imagine anyone has any doubts about who the usual suspects will be. Those eager to exploit it for themselves.
And by doing so they will be putting our soldiers in more danger. In fact, they will be putting you and I in more danger of possible future suicide bombers. Or at least that is your claim.
So which is it JZS? If the Marines actions create more danger, then won’t the actions of the leaders of your party also create more danger?
Will you condemn them when they do?
I know I am making some assumptions here JZS, but you and I both know that they will come to pass.

You see, Glenn has been warning us about a new reactionary ‘counter left’ element in America for some time now. Glenn probably fears they will want to deprive muslims of their constitutional rights, their right to build mosques in our backyard and their right to sharia law and such. Can’t have that happen, because after all, it’s the religion of peace ! But I was objecting to those of you cheerleading the acts, just as I suppose you did to the stories about Abu Graib, utterly clueless about the effect those things have on our image abroad. You should listen to Glenn on this one Billy. “They do it too” is really not taking the high ground, and it’s sad that is your standard of moral conduct.
The US Government and others, Glenn, have condemned those acts for the reasons I mentioned. Your idea that condemning those actions make us less safe is truly strange. I guess George Bush made us less safe by condemning the acts in Abu Graib? And when people like you and Pam Geller who applaud the actions, that makes us more safe?
People here tend to throw out their morals, the Constitution (First Amendment at least) and their sense of human decency when the subject of Muslims comes up. Sorry to see you jump on that band wagon.

Wrong is calling for the charge of war crimes against these Marines.

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 8:10pmLets see if this story brings out the “Bring all the troops home” NEO-RONS.
NEO-CON = (As I understand it) Warmongering, Israel loving, Jewish military complex, right wing of the Republican base.
NEO-RON = Pacifist, Antisemite, conspiratorial wing of the libertarian base.

Posted on January 16, 2012 at 8:37pm@madcow I’ll give it a go.Paul supporters aren‘t pacifists we’ll defend the constitution through a declared war but don’t see the value in invading every country that says boo.
We can’t be the worlds police anymore,we‘re broke it’s as simple as that.

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 9:45amPeak oil is a myth. Oil was not created from the fossils of dead plants and animals. It is an abiotic product of heat, pressure, and an abundance of carbon and hydrogen in the mantle of the earth. There is no way that oil created from dead plants and animals could have sunk through solid stone to vast underground caverns several thousand feet below the surface. Oil is lighter than water and if water with its’ smaller structure cannot seep that far down, then neither could oil. The fact is that oil is always being created by the earth and for the foreseeable future it will continue to produce it.
That said, it is being produced at a constant rate, however, 60% of the earth is not being drilled because of the water on the surface being too deep. This means that 60% of the oil reserves are not even being considered. There is plenty of oil, especially if we get the greenies and safety sallies off the back of the automobile industry and let the free market work to make us better, lighter, more efficient cars. Because of excessive regulation, cars are now heavier than an equivalent car built in 1950. And until recently, they had less power and mileage than engines of the same size in 1970. This is all because of onerous safety and emission standards.
Up the compression and use direct injection. Use less gas, create the most CO2 per liter you can with the highest power to weight and power per gallon ratios and cars will be as efficient as they can with just a gas engine.

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 6:42pmShowing love to your fellow man is one thing, trying to prevent one from killing you is another. In your love, please address the “Caliphate” issue. They are trying to take over the world. We may have instigated a lot of blowback because of our policies. However, we are where we are and must handle it accordingly. Thus, until we rectify our policy stances, there will be more attacks on the U.S. These Marines were wrong and the Marine Corps will take care of them, trust me. In the end, peace is a lofty goal; however, since we live in a sinful world bad things will continue to happen.

Posted on January 19, 2012 at 10:33amBeck, please stop defending the desecration of a corpse.
I understand the mantra… how can one remove the mote from his brother’s eye without addressing the beam in his own eye… we’re all sinners, so let us not judge… a wise man falls 7 times and picks himself up to walk upright forevermore, while a fool falls once into utter damnation…etc.etc.
But please stop defending this desecration of a corpse. This is not a Mary Magdalene issue. This is not an issue of “He who is without sin, cast the first stone”.
Don’t flatter the unrighteous.
