Beck Critic Turns Ire on Americans: ‘I Think the People Are the Big Problem’

The CNN anchor who recently bashed Glenn Beck for his comments on Muslim Terrorists has now turned his anger on the American people.

In an interview on CNN’s “Parker/Spitzer,” Fareed Zakaria responded to a question about turning around the economy by saying the American people are the problem, and aren’t as wonderful as they are made out to be. Instead, they are hungry overconsumers who must cut back on their appetite for things and accept “higher taxes.”

Transcript and video via the Daily Caller:

“No, I think the people are the big problem,” Zakaria said. “I mean, Americans — everybody wants to say the American people are so wonderful. You know, I think that when they come to recognize that they have to make sacrifices too that it’s not just wasteful — they need to have — they need to recognize that some of what’s going to happen here is fewer. They have to consume fewer things. They have to accept slightly higher taxes. And in the long run, you will have a much better economy.”

This guy is born and raised socialist …of course he has that opinion. That‘s why Obama see’ things thru a Socialist view.He is right the problem is the people, the Socialist and Communist people. We Constitutional Americans had a great thing going until these bozos started messing up the free market an dnow we have a mess. Once this gets sorted and the US is back on track these guys need to be removed from our citizen list or we need to add more safegaurds to the constitution that keeps Communist and Socialist views from hurting our way of life. They should be able to be heard as they should be able to speak their mind but not be able to change our basic principles. That is where we are hurting.

      I agree..this dude is a Commie…and a big dude at Newsweek.
` Zakaria wrote in Feb. 2008 that “Conservatism grew powerful in the 1970s and 1980s because it proposed solutions appropriate to the problems of the age”, adding that “a new world requires new thinking”.[13] He supported Barack Obama during the 2008 Democratic primary campaign and also for president. In January 2009 Forbes referred to Zakaria as one of the 25 most influential liberals in the American media.[8]
He’s a Harvard Boy…you know the Commie pipeline. Gives them certification in the ‘Commie club’. I mean….who else do we have that can think for us….

And this little fellow needs to understand that is NOT what built this country, it is NOT what enabled the massive prosperity that this country enjoys and spreads throughout the world in foreign aid and it is NOT what will keep us in a position to allow liberty and freedom to prosper.

He needs to realize who is buying his book, who is paying to watch him on TV and who will throw his butt off the planet if he gets his wish of socialism…the very people he is supporting with his socialist views, not the good people of this country, which much to his disappointment I’m sure, are the MAJORITY of this country.

Go to a restaurant and watch how many people leave food on their plate. Then say people aren’t wasteful.

That’s what the American People need to reign in……..A car gets you from Point A to Point B. I read some girl facebook status awhile ago saying, “it’s days like this that you appreciate the little things like seat warmers……” When luxury becomes a little thing, that is a lost view on life…..Wear a second jacket, a second pair of slacks……..You do not need a Mercedes to be happy. You do not need a big house to be happy.

America would do well to start reading the Tao Te Ching next to their Bible.

      this is for NoName22

So if that potato didn’t go to waste, it wouldn’t have been purchased, paying tax and a wage at the restaurant. The supplier wouldn’t have made his penny. The farmer wouldn’t have grown it and the soil would lie fallow. The pennies spent by those in that chain would not have purchased other goods and services.

The potato will go to the ground or the compost, which is where it came from, creating value along the way, which, had it never been purchased, never would have created any value.

Where exactly do you get your economic ideologies? Grandma? A stern father at the dinner table?

Is my purchase of a second jacket more of a value and less of a “waste” than the purchase of a seat warmer?

The class envy is palpable. You are welcome to live your life the way you like. Others can appreciate and even admire your austerity. But your unabashed and vulgar judgment of what others do with income to create and perpetuate value makes you seem pretty small, and, well, Liberal.

I don’t need a car. I don’t need a computer to see “some girl facebook status” like you apparently have by just being here. You don’t need a second jacket, nor do you need any house. You can live in a monestary if your life empty of “things” gives you the most meaning.

But by no means should your judgment pass as some kind of policy idea or direction for any society that wants to prosper.

They would have spent the $100 anyway on dinner, whether they licked it clean or left it all. Maybe they just wanted the girl to go home with them…worth the $100?

      Just pathetic and small thinking.

      @Winoceros
Ever watch the Travel Channel? There’s a show where you can watch some fat guy do a eat-a-thon and try to finish an absurd amount of food in a certain amount of time. I wonder if that program would succeed in a nation where you’re lucky to get a piece of bread.

“So if that potato didn’t go to waste, it wouldn’t have been purchased, paying tax and a wage at the restaurant. The supplier wouldn’t have made his penny. The farmer wouldn’t have grown it and the soil would lie fallow. The pennies spent by those in that chain would not have purchased other goods and services.”
“The potato will go to the ground or the compost, which is where it came from, creating value along the way, which, had it never been purchased, never would have created any value.”

Ok, so potato is purchased and sent down the line to not be eaten????? Then goes in the trash after not being eaten, but creates value…..The purpose of the potato is to be eaten. That’s basically saying, “I’ll buy a house then burn it down to help the real estate market.”

“Where exactly do you get your economic ideologies? Grandma? A stern father at the dinner table?

The Bible. Funny how those two people contribute to that as well.

“Is my purchase of a second jacket more of a value and less of a “waste” than the purchase of a seat warmer?

The point is to stay warm. Both perform that function. One is made from cloth, can be used again and again with no added waste. Cloth typically comes from animals, lets assume it is a wool jacket. The other requires electrical power, which is provided by gasoline, which is a fossil fuel, requiring digging up of the earth…..Granted, if we had decent renewable energy, this would be less of a problem, but that won’t happen till Government Motors gets the foothold in the market.

“The class envy is palpable. You are welcome to live your life the way you like. Others can appreciate and even admire your austerity. But your unabashed and vulgar judgment of what others do with income to create and perpetuate value makes you seem pretty small, and, well, Liberal.

I have no quarrel with what people spend their money on. I’m just calling it like it is, a seat warmer is a LUXURY. Therefore, it is not necessary, it simply exists for indulgence. The little things in life, to refer to the quote, to me, are like sunsets, the tide at the beach, a good hug……you know, stuff that doesn’t cost a penny.

“I don’t need a car. I don’t need a computer to see “some girl facebook status” like you apparently have by just being here. You don’t need a second jacket, nor do you need any house. You can live in a monestary if your life empty of “things” gives you the most meaning.”

You needed a computer to argue with me. No, a person does not need a car, but they need to be able to get from Point A to Point B. No, a person does not need a second jacket, but they need to stay warm. No, a person does not need a house, but they need shelter, a home.

“But by no means should your judgment pass as some kind of policy idea or direction for any society that wants to prosper.

They would have spent the $100 anyway on dinner, whether they licked it clean or left it all. Maybe they just wanted the girl to go home with them…worth the $100?”

Yes what I am saying should never be made law or be a sort of policy idea. That‘s forcing people to think as such and that’s not freedom. It is my hope that people realize and understand on their own and seek to change their habits, without any such force. How would a person go about such things if it were never mentioned to them?

Maybe rather spending $100 on a meal a person didn’t finish to simply impress a girl for sexual intercourse that serves no purpose other than self-pleasure……..Save the money, invest the money, donate it to a charity, pay the bills, pay off credit cards…..

      “Just pathetic and small thinking.”

He is partially right on this issue. The majority of Americans are wasteful and live in a cultural mindset of handouts and never taking responsibility but always blaming someone else. Granted, many things can be blamed on someone else like the traitors in Washington and those that sit in their council positions high above the average ignorant American peasant. However, higher taxes only promotes more wasteful government spending and handouts. Cutting taxes and cutting spending is the answer. Combine that with instilling faith, pride, and nationalism in our people instead of looking at the other side of the world thinking they have all the answers when they don’t. Our countries has always had the right path and the right answers we just need to get back on that path.

The really sad part is this man’s sheer ignorance of basic economics. This is supposed to be a well educated man. And yet, he cannot figure out that taxes come from CONSUMPTION. We think that a sales tax is the only consumption tax, but it’s not. If the vast majority of Americans cut back on spending, then the sellers and manufacturers of the products we no longer buy as much of will make less money and pay less taxes. They will fire people, because they don’t need them. And those people will become more dependent upon a government that no longer is bringing in as much in tax revenue. MY GOD, how can people so well educated be so blatantly stupid?

The money starts and ends there UBS, GE, (The CEO’s Obama is meeting with) and all the Big GLOBAL companies get there money from “Private Equity” firms in Switzerland. It is a closed banking and society. Maybe they should be transparent!

This Fareed is a member of the Bilderberg having attended their last meeting in Spain. This guy is also a self proclaimed elitist wouldn’t we all like to see what kind of consumer he is? how he spends his money. Blaming us for the worlds problems this guy travels around in private jets owns expensive homes and property living a lavish life style and has the nerve to say we caused this problem and we are all really bad people. This is one of the guys that openly advocates that the world needs to reduce it’s population by any means necessary. So if I may suggest Fareed that you take yourself out first by any means necessary in fact why don’t you take out your friends at the Bilderberg as well now that would certainly bring world peace and prosperity.

Most of you do not want to grasp the context of his point of view. Personal attacks does not change the facts, and if that makes your feel better, good luck with that. It is total cowardly to call some “UNPATRIOTIC” because he/she disagrees with you. Yes, in one way American people are the problem. There is a reason that there are two unfunded wars going on without declaration from congress for last 8-10 years. World War 2 lasted for 4-5 years. And anyone who opposes those wars become “Unpatriotic” by default. There is a fundamental law of war economics that Americans do not understand. If you fight a war on foreign turf for extended period of time and you consume your own resources and not of invading country, you go Bankrupt. Please, do your math yourself. 2/3 US GDP based on consumption. How long can anyone survive just spending money without producing goods. Fareed Zakaria is right when he says that Chinese should be celebrating thanksgiving when you spend your borrowed/printed dollars to buy Chinese products. Fareed Zakaria is making a point that it is time for Americans to sacrifice to the greater good in long run. For good or bad, Americans are in situation where both consumer and Govt spending is unsustainable. Without sacrifice from the Americans, US will cease to be what is it s today. Do you guys want to talk about monopolies. Milton Freidman said “monopoly cannot exist without govt support”. I haven’t seen anyone talking about monopolies. Monsanto controls 90% seed Market. Visit any truck driving flag waving farmer anywhere in US, and see to yourself how he cringes to save his own seeds to plant next season. If he doesn’t buy seeds from Monsanto, Monsanto makes sure he cannot plant his next crop. When Americans have become so timid and subservient, yes they are the Problem. When there is prosperity, there is a charity all around and everything is good, and when there is crisis on dining table, there is crisis all around. Look around the world, instead of mocking or scoffing poor countries, learn from them that America does not become like them. Human behavior does not change because you are American or white or black or Asian. If you were in Congo today, you will do exactly the same what is happening there. Wikileaks were supposed to leak a fraud at a major American Bank. Why Americans are not demanding and asking what is happening at banks. Where were Americans when Ben Bernanke said he will not tell how much money Fed Printed and to whom that money was given. Why is that you do not want to ask your govt what it is doing while you you spear no second in calling other “Unpatriotic”, “UnAmerican” or “go back home”. American people are the problem, and surprise, American people are solution also :)

Zakaria attended The Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai. He received a B.A. degree from Yale University where he was President of the Yale Political Union, editor-in-chief of the Yale Political Monthly, and a member of the Scroll and Key society and the Party of the Right (Yale). He later earned a Ph.D. degree in Political Science from Harvard University in 1993,[1] where he studied under Samuel P. Huntington and Stanley Hoffmann.

I’ve wondered for some time “who is this guy?” The above description comes out of Wikipedia. So here we have a guy, who comes to America, attends premier universities, (most likely on your dime) lands a great job and then denigrates the taxpaying citizens who can’t afford to send their own children to college.

I a typical American, on my first job, worked for a dollar a day. I knew that the ‘American Dream’ was out there and all I had to do to obtain it was to be honest and work hard. I did. I and my fellow Americans built a strong vibrant America. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution provided the framework. We shaped a country where anyone willing to work could “pursue happiness” and fulfill his idea of the ‘American Dream’.

The Zakarias’s of the world, reject the values that we embraced that created a great nation. They come here, use the system to get themselves educated, and then denigrate working Americans who’s sweat and sacrifice created the institution that gave them a voice.

We are learning that we can reject those ‘voices’. We‘re finding ways to ’turn off‘ and mute the ideas of the Zakarias’s, the Obamas and the ‘Spooky Dude’. We’re waking up America…keep on doing what’s right, and we’ll get it back. God Bless America.

JXYJ you are so right about Monsanto. The Gov’t is protecting them. They are claiming farmers are using their seed when the farmers had never ever bought seed from M. M’s GMO seed are crossbreeding with every thing else including weeds so they can claim it is theirs because of the genetic marker. They are getting patents on seed that have been in the public domain for thousands of years simply by introducing a genetic mutation. Many times not knowing if the mutation is harmful.

World War II lasted six years, and I should know as my uncle died defending England. Furthermore, Americans are the hardest working people in the world, the most generous people in the world, and the most accommodating people in the world.

Americans work the hardest and receive the least amount of benefits and/or holidays – save for union employees – and Americans deserve to have a voice.

Oh and the ever-growing Tea Party movement filled with Americans of all stripes is using that voice and clearly rising up and demanding answers from our government.
