When I first posted about Dinesh D‘Souza’s article in Forbes, “How Obama Thinks,“ I noted his observation that ”there has been virtually no reporting“ about ”an important article” written by President Obama’s father. Since then there has been a great deal of reporting about D‘Souza’s article. Particularly of Newt Gingrich’s reaction to it:
Gingrich says that D’Souza has made a “stunning insight” into Obama’s behavior — the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.”
Today D’Souza reached an even wider audience by spending an entire hour on the radio with Glenn:

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 8:42pmI have always felt Barack and Michelle Obama want to bring the American people down to a lower standard of living. Under their control. I don’t doubt for a second that he hates our country and would like to stay on as a Dictator . I believe she is his #1 advisor and partner. And they are out to hurt or destroy Corporate America and teach them a lesson.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 7:54pmKeats, I understand what you’re saying, but I also understand what GB was emphasizing, because, unfortunately the left/media just LOVES to make fun of middle America, and unfortunately that tactic seems to work with their followers (i.e., my liberal friends run with it). We just don’t want to give them any more ammunition than necessary. OTOH, you’re RIGHT — we SHOULDN’T feel like we have to conform to a certain standard. We SHOULD have freedom of expression. We SHOULDN’T feel like we have to act/dress a certain way in order to not be sneered at (actually we shouldn‘t CARE that we’re sneered at). We are at a point though, when we have to do what works.
I think what it boils down to is dignity. Presenting ourselves as a dignified front, putting our best foot forward (it’s not being phony–it’s who most of us are (underneath the costumes!)), and withholding the ammunition. Which is the point I think GB was making when he showed the sorry excuses for disparaging photos of 8/28 gatherers that the Huffington Post had up. (”this is the best they’ve got??) We need more of that.
There IS some strategy involved in all of this, unfortunately. Just a fact of life.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 8:06pmAmen Lucy. I threw in my 2 cents worth and I hope I did not offend Keats, but it’s about maturity. What’s more important? Being free to wear what you want or being mature and self regulating enough to make the right choice to concentrate on the message. I’m 52 and still remember all those talks my dad used to have with me about “life’s choices”. WE simply need to keep in clear sight of what‘s the goal here and what’s most important.
BTW, I am so glad to be in the company of such fine people I can have a “real” discourse with.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 4:12amEveryone – not just Lucy – So ….respectfully, now you’ve all justified what Beck was saying. This goes way beyond “dressing properly for work” kind of scenarios. Who of you dictates “maturity?” You really think you can judge maturity by someone’s having a flag cone hat on? That is high school thinking. The kind that ostracizes people for being “different.” The kind that encourages snickering and bullying. Don’t you dare try to judge MY maturity by my hat or my glasses or anything else.If it makes you all feel better, the majority of people don’t dress differently. So why did Beck address it? A patriot who dresses as Ben Franklin or George Washington is now to be eaten by his own? Or perhaps some devoted Beck follower will try go try to “talk” to him and nicely explain that he doesn’t have to be a “sick twisted freak” and dress stupidly for attention. I hate to sound like I’m making a personal slap at Beck, but um, maybe it would be better if we all wore white shirts, black pants and really short stupid haircuts. Remember – it’s all about IMAGE. Most towns can see the Mormon “clones” coming door-to-door a mile away. If Beck can analyze what influences Obama’s ideology, then I can analyze Becks.
This was a boundary Beck shouldn’t have crossed, and an important one in my book. Personally, I’ve never dressed up for a rally. But I have traversed quite a bit in my car and in public as a professional children’s clown for many years. Try it. It’s personally fulfilling but VERY VERY hard. It finally became TOO DANGEROUS for me and I gave it up. We don’t need 500,000+ Beck followers “piling on” people who choose to EXPRESS THEIR PATRIOTISM and labeling people as freaks. BECK JUST CALLED A PORTION OF HIS DEVOTED FAN BASE FREAKS. For what? Was it necessary? NO. It will draw more people out if they don’t want see people dressed “funny”? If people are supposedly staying away from a “movement to save the country” because of a few costumed people in pictures, then seriously, they can stay home. When I have to look at tatooed, pierced, unwashed people of all ages all around me, Beck wants to criticize a Statue of Liberty costume??? Let me see that person in every crowd. Let me see George Washington, and flag hats and everything else. It’s the America I love- that no one, not even Beck can take away from us. Beck has gotten too dangerous with dictating how HE thinks people should dress.I guess my cowboy hat analogy was lost on all of you. Come to New York with a cowboy hat and see what you get. You will be laughed at as a backwards hick and treated very differently in everything you do. You want to encourage that mentality? No, you wear MORE cowboy hats. No, I’ve taken what I wanted from Beck, and now I’m moving on. He is not my master nor my messiah. I’m worried that everyone is following him a little too fanatically. I for one, am backing off him. I am not a Beck Sheeple. I think when you see Beck do something like this, you should call him out on it. Everyone who agrees, please do that.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 7:00pmKEATS – There is nothing wrong with the spirit that would make someone of want to wear those things, make the signs, etc. But just like the American Revolution was won, you have to adapt to the environment. The libs are just taking a snap shot of someone and using it to discredit the ENTIRE Tea Party. Most responsible people know this is just a diversion, but either way … DON’T give them extra ammunition. There were over 5 posts on Huffington Post ALONE on t-shirts, signs, and other petty attempt to discredit the tea party.
In order to play GOD you must say “I am God, worship me”. If you claim Glenn is being God, then you obviously haven’t listened to him. He has said “Turn TO God” via your personal walk of Faith. (Jew, Gentile, Catholic, Mormon, Christian, etc) That is NOT playing God.
With that said there is nothing wrong with wanting to express yourself. But it’s time to buck up, buckle up, aim high, and take back the country from corrupt politicians. We can disagree on little things, but let’s agree and unite around the big things that matter. We must fight like we did in the American Revolution instead of walking in a straight line only to get picked off one at a time like the British. Cheesy sounding analogy I know…but it’s the truth.

I know what you mean, and I completely agree with the message of Jesus. I am not disputing that AT ALL! I just think it is very wise for us all (when it comes to politics) to not be too preachy with each other, or USE God as a way to push a political agenda. I am a Christian first, and my life belongs to God. But I try to separate talking politics and talking Gospel. I say this because I WAS talking Politics, not Bible, and you tried to talk to me like I had no idea about Christ and how he acted. This can come off as a little self righteous and preachy. You sort of missed my point all together as well. No one is disputing the Gospel. I’m talking political tactics for the Tea Party. I was trying to point out a few things we need to and could do that would take some ammunition away from the left. They fight dirty, and we need to cross our Ts and dot our Is. It is the world we live in. I know some might think WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK!!! I can agree with that to a certain point. But for me personally, I am thinking about the person who shares the same values as our movement but is being sucked into the petty attacks on the tea party over what they wear. There have been a few shirts that were a little ridiculous and some that were fake quotes. We just need to keep a very sharp perspective.

You just told everyone to stop expressing themselves, their individuality, stop expressions of patriotism. No statue of liberty outfits, no cone shaped flag hats, no dressing up as George Washington. Strip people of everything, then they will look like the masses of humanity in China or Russia. Where do we draw the line Glenn? Why don’t you make a list of what is ACCEPTABLE to Glenn Beck? The power has gone to your head man. People: We are not SHEEP. Glenn has inspired us much, but it might be time to let go. We are supposed to “look” just right, maybe like Beaver Cleaver’s family, so the LEFT doesn’t get a good photo op to make FUN of us? You are serious? NEVER NEVER NEVER lose your inspiration to wear flag glasses, or cone hats, or dress in period dress. We are Americans. We ARE the majority, and we don‘t have to curb our personalities so the left doesn’t have something to laugh at. Hell, the left laughs at cowboy hats too, so does half of the country. Maybe we should chuck them. No, we don‘t win by trying desperately not to be sneered at by the Olbermann’s and the Maddow’s of this world. We win by being WHO WE ARE. Don’t tell me what to wear on my t-shirt either Glenn. When people are laughing at the kooky “The Bees Know” shirts of us right wing wacko’s, you have the NERVE to do a show like you did tonight? Posted on September 15, 2010 at 7:59pm@Keats: I’m sorry but I totally disagree with your post. I’m a strict Constitutionalist and believe we should get rid of the Dept of Education, Home Land security, EPA et al. I don’t see the point of peddling my pedigree to you. Beck was very clear about not wanting to make people mad that he was talking to but his point was valid. It’s about the maturity of the movement and how we can attract others that are like minded but perhaps have not done as much homework as we have. They have listened to the MSM for far too long and only go by what they see and have heard.
Bear with me and let me give an example. I am an engineer and started in the workforce in 1980 when long hair was still very popular with college aged guys. I never had a problem with long hair myself, but when I was a sophomore in high school I realized I really wasn’t a non-conformist if I had long hair just like 85% to 90% of my peers. I did have hair over my shoulders but it was a hassle to take care of. I cut it shorter until by the time I graduated high school it was very short again. Engineering is a rather conservative profession and I fit right in with the work environment. There was a bright kid that started at the same time I did that always wanted to buck the system. He had long hair over his shoulders and wouldn’t wear a tie (we all did then). He refused to cut his hair. I pulled him aside and told him to go places he needed to try to conform somewhat to the workplace requirements (this wasn’t college anymore). Well he didn‘t listen and they didn’t fire him, but when it came time for raises he got 0% due to his lack of ability to work within the system. The system didn’t bludgeon him by firing him but it sent a message. It’s about maturity. At work I have always been a non-conformist in my own way, but you have to pick you battles as they say. I’m sorry for the long story.
The point is we have a “right” to wear silly costumes and wear somewhat offensive shirts, but if we want to attract others that are on the fence, then we need to go to the next level. What Beck was saying is we can wear the costumes etc. but that will be the image that the MSM sticks on page 1 to make us look stupid. The way the Bible puts it is “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive. What important is the movement and the message, not what we wear. Its just like when I travel for my company, I am expected to be professional because everyone is watching even though you don’t think they are.
If we want to be taken seriously AND attract more people to the movement then we need to decide what’s more important, the silly costumes we wear in protest or the message of hope and real change we need.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 8:04pmI thought it was a great point! We know that the progressives can’t debate us on facts, so they will attack us on any other level they can. I hate to see so many wonderful, concerned, giving, thoughtful patriots reduced to a single picture that can be labled “crazy”. There has to be a midpoint of expression, but how do you enforce it? I would rather err on the side of caution and not have a million people reduced to a negitive sound bite.
Report Post »jcatlanta
Posted on September 15, 2010 at 8:32pm@JACKSON: Exactly its a matter of maturity. I didn’t see or hear anything from Beck about enforcement. It really doesn’t matter what the MSM thinks, but this goes far beyond that. It determines if other like minded people can relate to what we SAY not what we WEAR. If not wearing silly costumes will bring just one more person into the movement to restore America, then i am more than willing to wear appropriate clothing. Its as simple as that.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 12:19amI would NOT advocate costume police ensuring compliance, but if WE want to be taken seriously we have to move beyond where we are at this point. The first time in my life I went to a protest was the Tea Party protest in Everett WA on 4-15-09 which was the very beginning of this movement. I went again on 4-15-10 down here in FL where I live now. The people and the movement are just as genuine in 09 and this year. There is a place for some of the dress-up at appropriate times and places. I like it as well. I just don’t like the way we are portrayed in the lame stream media. I am not in this for this election cycle or even 2012. I feel this will be a decade long or more struggle to undo what’s been done over 100 years by the progressives. I have 8 kids and I owe it to them to have the opportunities I had. Its time for me to give back! Unfortunately, as with most things; when someone doesn’t work for and earn something, they don’t appreciate it (at least until its gone). I’ve been an engineer for 30 years and have absolutely loved my job (I know most people don’t feel that way) and have been truly blessed by what I have made, but I feel God is leading me to give up engineering to run for public office. What the country needs at ALL levels, local, state and federal are LEADERS. That is the story of most all these Tea Party candidates. We need real people which have held real jobs and know how to run a business and know how to cut spending etc.
I know that Keats has a burning desire to change things for the better just as I do. That’s why we need true leadership of Godly Men and Women with principles, not someone that will cave when the going gets tough or they are bought off by the system. And I agree it is awesome that we can talk in here and discuss ideas (in spite of the Dingglebags, his momma, his daddy, and his therapist et al).

I as part of that country take issue with that. Seek help, and stop enabling the abuser.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 6:28pmIt sure makes a lot of little pieces fit, doesn’t it? While we’re at it, I‘d like to suggest D’Souza’s book “What’s So Great About Christianity”. You‘ll notice there’s no questions mark in the title, it’s an amazing read; especially in today’s climate.

Report Post »I’m sure that The Obamanation would love to tax us at 150%, and who cares about our having a benefit. Only one small issue, just who does he think will collect his tax? I for one have gone 100
% barter system, and will stay that way until the Obamanation and his ilk are all either behind bars or deported for un-American activities, so 150% tax on nothing is nothing, so lefties share all my nothing as you choose.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 6:26pmWow….This book looks like it may have the answers. Obama is anti colonization when it comes to USA policy but is non the less worried about the reconquista or influx from the middle east????? He just hates the USA.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 6:20pmI fully believe that. The reason is that D‘Souza comes from a land that was under colonial control. He would be the best person to see that form of hatred from the President.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 9:42pmHow more American than Obama can you get? He did not come from a rich family and graduated from Harvard. He did noT go to Wall Street. Instead, he went on to help poor. This entire story is to get the racist juices flowing of the tea party. An anti-colonial view? Hey, is that that same view of the founding fathers.
Face it….you tea partiers ..prior to Obama being elected, we the enablers of the BUSHs debt with your blind GOP votes year after year. The black man in the white house set the “teapot” boiling.
You then projected your anger on Obama…called him a commie AND not ONE of us….Well that arguement faded. Now, you have projected your anger to establishment GOP members and now are putting up a host of unelectable candidates. You are old and angry and old age is approaching. Within a generation, you will be gone. Any short term gains will come at the survival of the GOP. Remember the GOP is the rich man party. Listen to Rove…..They do not want to be explaining your whacked out social issues.
MY ADVICE NOW IS TO FORM A THIRD PARTY…..ABANDON THE GOP>THEY HAVE TASTED YOUR TEA AND SPIT IT OUT.
MAY I SUGGEST some Names….
THE RIGHT EXTREMIST PARTY
THE KOO KOO FOR COCO PUFFS PARTY
THE PALIBECKIAN PARTY
ANYWAY…YOU ALL REMIND ME OF A TEA POT THAT IS LEFT ON THE STOVE. YOU GET HOT, MAKE A LOT OF NOISE, RUN OUT OF STEAM THEN MELT ON THE STOVE….BECOMING WORTHLESS.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 10:02pmSTICK: WHAT IS THE MEANING YOU ARE TRYING TO CONVEY WITH YOUR NAME? fyi, MOST HERE LOVE GOD AND CONSIDER CHRIST AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR. If you wish to attack Christians, you’re NOT welcome here.
You address my questions and I will respond to your comments. OK?

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 11:00pmFor Christ on a stick…first, have some respect and let Christ remain on the cross. Second, I don’t know who you represent, but it is definitely not the people. you are as equally out of touch with America as what appear to be your coharts, sorry for you…yeah for the rest of us who see through you.

Posted on September 15, 2010 at 11:23pmI’m not sure why thinker gets to decide who get to be welcome here, but ‘stick, you are way off the mark. The man clearly hates America. He didn‘t ’help the poor’, he and the progressives for decades before him, have enslaved the poor.
Report Post »Also, your pitiful ‘you hate him because he’s black’ is SO tired. Who cares what race he is? You’re the one mentioning his color right? Pathetic.
obama himself said to judge him by the people he surrounds himself with, so the judgment is socialist. If you have a problem with that, you have to complain to obama, it was his idea, not ours.
As for the republican party, any of them that want big government, and tons of welfare already left us, so why would we need to leave them?
Though come to think of it, you calling us names at the end of your post convinced me that you really may be right.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 1:30amObviously (I hope) I was talking about Christ On A Stick. To you COAS, how deranged are you? Obama, in his own words looks to socialists, marxists, and communists for his advice, appoints them as advisors, and seems to follow that line of thinking. And, the tea party people seem to be gathering more steam, not running out of steam. Your kind of remarks boggle my mind. You really are not distracting us. You just make more of us get more involved in the process that will eventually bring this country back to the ideals and principles that it was founded on. It‘s really hard to believe that you think Obama couldn’t be more American than he is. A true American is proud of what this country is. We don’t want FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE for this country. We want RESTORATION to what it used to be. The most honorable and most desirable country in the world. Do you really know what “Life, Liberty, and The pursuit of happiness” really is? I don’t think you do. Obama certainly doesn’t feel that the majority of the population of this country has the right to any of that. Any adminstration that crams stuff like the health care bill down our throats obviously is NOT listening to the people that elected them. They work for us supposedly, but it appears to me that they are just working for themselves to rule us. That’s definitely not what this country used to be about.

No birth certificate, No passport records, No college records. Since when do we have to just take a mans word about his background? We know the radicals he associated with and still associates with. What we don’t know is where he traveled. Where he got his early education and who financed his rise to the top. And WHY?

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 1:38pmChris on a stick…Just because Obama is a man of color don’t get all puffed up and proud, the main reason being is he is not going to give you or do you any favors…That will “NEVER HAPPEN” and learn what the dude stands for before you get all “BLACK AND PROUD” Obama is not nor will he ever be the friend of any “BLACK MAN” (GOT IT ?) He is a politician and dances around subjects with ease especially around Black People because you ain’t part of his AGENDA so chill, he was put in office by the ultra rich ( true fact…lookup George Soros) and other “WORLD CONTROL FREAKS” to make it seem as though it’s all good and “IT AIN’T” !!. Obama is just another smooth talking career politician, but with a twist so GET OVER YOUR OBAMA IS GOD COMPLEX !!….He is a POLITICIAN and you are a “NOBODY IN HIS EYES PARTNER”…He’ll smile and talk s*** behind your back while he sits in the White House eating gourmet food and you barely GET BY LOL !!.
