‘We Must Be on His Side’: Beck Implores Religious Conservatives to Unite in Impassioned Speech

Glenn Beck is back, and with a more urgent message than ever. In a powerful speech to the Faith and Freedom Coalition today in Washington, DC, Beck sounded alternate notes of alarm and hope, ending with a clarion call for unity among people of God. C-SPAN caught the whole speech, which can be watched at their website here.

And make no mistake, attention was paid to Beck’s speech, which touched on everything from the differences between the American Revolution and the French Revolution to the dangers posed by the television show “Glee.” He also, in a vintage Beck move, teared up while talking about a Hungarian consulate to Sweden who would write letters to the Nazis that placed Jewish citizens under Swedish protection, allowing them not to wear the yellow star. CBS News (video below) described the speech this way:

At the Faith and Freedom Conference, a gathering of religious conservatives in Washington, D.C., media personality Glenn Beck attempted on Friday to displace fears that Christian conservatives might have about supporting a Mormon for president.

Beck, who is a member of the LDS church, did not specifically mention presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney, but said it is absurd that “we can‘t stand together because you don’t go to my church and I don’t go to your church.”[...]

However, Beck, who just signed a 5-year, $100 million contract for his radio program, added that Christians “can’t be against something. I am not against Barack Obama,” Beck said, adding that they need to be “for something much, much bigger.”[...]

He concluded his speech with tears as he talked about the “gray period” the country is in and the need to “give your children opportunity” just as his mother “was a force for good despite the odds.”

And it was more than just CBS News paying attention. Fox and CNN carried live video feeds, and even liberal media outlets pricked up their ears. Business Insider called the speech a “softer version” of Beck’s usual message, noting the absence of a chalk board, and the lack of any mention of specific politicians’ names (except for President Obama). They also noted that Beck had taken what they saw as a less partisan stance:

“The world will either become incredibly dark, or it will become incredibly light. We cannot remain in the gray,” Beck told the crowd, according to a live video feed from CNN.

As for political labels? Beck has no need for them anymore. He preached supporting leaders for the “content of their character,” and not the parties or ideologies to which they prescribe.

During his closing, Beck teared up when describing the story of a man during World War II who worked to help save Jews and died in that pursuit, saying passionately, “It only takes one person to save the world.”

Beck also used the speech to advertise for his three-day “global Tea Party summit,” held in Cowboys Stadium in Texas in July. He is calling the event “Restoring Love.”

Not everyone, however, was so complimentary. Talking Points Memo, in an article that reeked of barely masked snideness, took special note of Beck’s remarks about the television show “Glee,“ a show whose production values he praised while bemoaning how ”horrific” some of the messages involved were. They also mentioned Glenn’s “Oedipus Project,” so named because, to quote Glenn, “the Left will be making out with me and they’ll never see it coming.” Watch TPM’s clip below:

But of course, Glenn spent far more time talking about history, and putting the struggles of the conservative movement in historical context, than he did talking about “Glee.” And some of what he said in the speech might have surprised more than a few liberals gleefully watching in anticipation of potential racism. Beck spent a sizable portion of the speech explicitly attacking the system of slavery in the South and comparing Southern treatment of Prisoners-of-War to the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust. He also explicitly denounced the doctrine of Manifest Destiny for its arrogance.

“What we did to the native Americans was ‘MANIFEST DESTINY!’” Beck thundered, shaking his arms in imitation of a blustering conqueror. “‘GOD IS ON OUR SIDE!’ God is not on man’s side! We must be on His side!”

Beck also, in a move that might have surprised secular viewers, admitted that institutions of organized religion can go wrong, so wrong that they inadvertently lend credence to anti-religious thought. He listed the Salem Witch Trials and the French Catholic Church in the lead up to the French Revolution as examples of this, claiming in the latter case that the Churches had become “an arm of the Government,” a powerful argument for separation of Church and State.

Yet, Beck argued, the alternative, even to these debased forms of religion, was and is much worse, quoting a book from the era of the French Revolution that encouraged the creation of chaos and iniquity. And because this alternative corresponded more closely to human nature, Beck argued, religion as an institution is always in jeopardy.

And given that religion is always in jeopardy, Beck’s ultimate message is more vital than ever – people must unify, regardless of denominational differences.

“‘First they came for the Catholics.’ Declare yourself a Catholic!” Beck exclaimed. “Your fight is my fight. My fight is your fight.”

The Bible teaches us that all men may let us down – God never will. Glenn is surely a man that is lead by God and he has taken that Godly Wisdom and using it. Every Week that goes by, we see Glenn doing something that God has instructed him to do. It may not be popular with the left, but it surely must please God.

I hope I can be a witness when Glen meets his Savior for the first time and he announces to Glenn, “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant.”

Thank you Glenn, we all owe you a huge debt of appreciation.

Everyone wants to believe God is on their side.
Can God, who is Righteous, be on everyone’s side?

If a certain religion does not faithfully adhere to God’s Word, but establishes their own conflicting doctrines, can they be unified with God or men?

Jeremiah wrote under inspiration God‘s attitude of Judah’s claim of unifying service to God:

20 “What does this matter to me that you bring in even frankincense from She´ba and the good cane from the land far away? The whole burnt offerings of YOU people serve for no pleasure, and YOUR very sacrifices have not been gratifying to me.” 21 Therefore this is what Jehovah has said: “Here I am setting for this people stumbling blocks, and they will certainly stumble over them, fathers and sons together; the neighbor and his companion—they will perish.” – Jeremiah 6:20-21

Our efforts, no matter how sincere, are worthless unless we accurately understand God’s Will for us.

Since when did Glenn Beck become religious? I don’t see Glenn so much as a religious person as someone using religion to increase his wealth. Most of what Glenn talks about is a promotion of fear: fear of Muslims, fear of economic collapse, fear of the government, fear of Glee, fear of the caliphate, fear of FEMA, fear of Jews like Soros and Piven and Alynski, fear of European socialism, fear of Marxism, fear of the anyone who is not white, Christian and conservative. Fear of everyone, except people like you.

And he has the answers to your fears. He’s promoting Goldline, self defense courses, seeds and whatever other answers there are to those things you are most afraid of. He promotes the fears, and profits from those who would take your money to address those fears. Sweet. Praise God.

The Article States“ ”[Glenn Beck] also explicitly denounced the doctrine of Manifest Destiny for its arrogance.”

Uh, Glenn, you might want to reread the Book of Mormon. The BoM is VERY clear about the RIGHTEOUSNESS of “Manifest Destiny” in America. In the First Book of Nephi ch. 13 vs. 12-14 the Prophet Nephi (who is one of the ancestors of today’s “native americans”) sees in a vision from God that God brought not only Columbus but also the Mayflower to the Americas so that the “Gentiles” can be free to worship God. The Prophet Nephi even declares in verse 14 that:

14 And it came to pass that I beheld many multitudes of the Gentiles upon the land of promise; and I beheld the wrath of God, that it was upon the seed of my brethren; and they were scattered before the Gentiles and were smitten. 1 Nephi 13:14

So, sorry Glenn, but IF you are a Mormon, as I am, then you will have to confess, as I do, that:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Heavenly Father. It is only through Him that we can be saved. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. And it was no less than GOD who brought the white man or “gentiles” here to the Americas. They were DESTINED to bring the WRATH OF GOD upon the descendants of Nephi or the “native americans”.

Glen Beck is a good and honorable man. I am Baptist and know that it is past time for people to stand for God. We really need to understand that it is our only hope to steer this great listing country and purge her of the evil influences that we have ignorned for so long. We must stand firm for honoring our God, our family and our country, because this is going to be the winning factor those against us do not have and cannot use. We must take those evil influences away from our children in all facets of their lives and where they go for education. If we do not, we are headed for disaster in that our children will become confused as to where to put their loyalties. Their loyalties belong with God and their families and the teachings that should be based upon the One True and Honorable God. Our God will have to sort all these different religions out and the tares taken away from the wheat. I do know that when a man or a woman puts God first in their lives and speaks up for Him he/she wants something better than the world has to offer. We have seen the deception of those who are leading the youth down the paths of destruction. We have seen the residuals of sin and the following after of sin that is leaving its mark of Cain upon the lives of those promoting sinful lifestyles, and the innocents who suffer from this. Just stand up for God. He stood up for us. These people who think they are too good to stand up for God and his honor have nothing to look forward to except rot.

      When Mormons were Socialists:

“The case for Mormons and socialism is most apparent in Joseph Smith’s revelation of the Law of Consecration and Stewardship, also called the United Order of Enoch or simply the United Order. The Law of Consecration was first announced in 1831. It requires the faithful to turn over all surplus material goods and property to their bishop to create a common storehouse for distribution to the poor. Accordingly, the United Order program “… was a prescription for transforming the highly individualistic economic order of Jacksonian America into a system characterized by economic equality, socialization of surplus incomes, freedom of enterprise, and group economic self-sufficiency.””

Under under God such as in the formation of this great country. Our nation is framed and united under God, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all.

God says: What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder. This is all encompassing and not just meant for marriage.

Those who are here in this country have a chance to be under the salvation of God. Some will, and some will not. Some will go the way of evil because of selfishness, greed and lust. Those who stand will stand for God and His Ten Commandments. We are supposed to teach these to our children and our schools should promote these good and honorable teachings to our children, but they are wanting to follow atheists, hedonists and fringe groups. Where we should be leading and demanding these teachings that empower our children, there are those who allow these divided groups to take the very things that are good in this world and hide them. These should be a must in our schools, our public buildings as a reminder to all how we should live and strive to be towards God and one another. This is our power. The enemy knows this and they want this stamped out. Those who do not love God are unable to deal with the Truth for they have no way to fight it and just want it out of sight and out of mind. This is their power and that is of lies and deceit, but the Truth can shine through with the help from the believers if we stand and do our jobs. Those who do not believe in the foundation of our country should leave

OPB, How can he possibly win this thing? Well, let me tell you the reality of the situation. Ron Paul is not out of the race, he will go all the way to Tampa, as he has promised, and he is the only truthful candidate I see. Romney is still just the presumptive nominee, and does not have the required delegates, in fact, Never can or has anyone had the nomination locked up before the first round of votes in our history, unless of course, he is the only one left in the race come the convention.
Lawyers for Ron Paul filed a lawsuit on Monday, June 11, 2012 that calls out the RNC on voter and election fraud, coersion and violation of federal election laws, and it brings up 42 USC 1971 which confirms that delegates cannot be bound, by federal law, to any one candidate on the first round of votes at the national convention. There are stealth Paul supporters in the delegate numbers, besides what we know, which is: 1107 for Romney, 245 for Paul. I would say at this point, with what I personally know, they are close to a tie with Romney slightly ahead by maybe 40-50 delegates. So, you see, I am not saying Paul has it in the bag, but you cannot say that Romney has it in the bag either. Read the lawsuit: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B42o0yg7D7tcMHhweFllclkxT0U/edit?pli=1

Granny, Please enlighten us on how Brother is wrong. I have been a Glenn Beck fan for years and years, from when I first heard him on the radio in Boise, ID in 2001. I saw him change when he started to leave Fox, after that hush hush meeting between him and the Soros representative. What really happened? He used to be FOR Ron Paul, calling him the candidate that was closer to our founding fathers than anybody to OMG ISREAL!!!!! He has become more establishment than i would have ever thought he would. Research everything, Question With Boldness, Do not take my word for it, do your own homework. these were Glenns words for years, I did what he asked, did you? I came to the conclusion that we are all living in a progressive dream environment that seduces all of us, unless of course, we wake up, “The Matrix” kinda wake up. It is hard to wake up to the truth, but once you do, you never go back!

Is that hard for all of you to consider? You all liked the movie and concept, why is real life not somewhat like it, just not as sci-fi? Have you ever pondered that?

Let’s get real here and stop living in the shadows. He is all about Isreal over the prosperity of the U.S.? Without the U.S., what would happen to Isreal? The best thing we could ever do for Isreal, is to stop sending money to all the countries that are for their destruction, and untie their hands so they can make their own decisions on how to protect their country, and stand vocally behind their decision. If Isreal asks us for help, we go to Congress, and through the people (all the people) decide if we need to help them, then do it. This is Paul’s policy, not what you have been fed by liars and thieves from the media and establishment.

Do know that all who cry Lord, Lord in the last days does not make them Christians? It seems Christians will seek their own. Evil will unite with evil and are blinded as those are who are supporting an administration who supports killing babies, sodomy, fornication, and not using their leadership to honor the One True God. God knows His own. Those supporting the filth and leanings of following men in this world are lacking the Spirit of God in their lives and are going to hell. It is written: ” There is a way unto man that seemeth right, but leadeth to destruction.” There is but one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who was sent, died and was resurrected and who left His Spirit here in this world for those who are willing to be saved. Now ask yourself what you want in this life and in the next. I cannot stress this enough, but it is the most important thing you will ever do in this life, and the most important thing you could ever do for your children and loved ones. They need to know the Truth.

Blacky, I do not usually get religious when talking on here, but you are right about what you say. Ron Paul has said that “We The People” are the ones who can change the world, it is only us that can change for the better. If we want liberty, it comes at a price, and that price is individual responsibility. If we want to continue to police the world at the bequest of the United Nations or Nato, and if we want to live in a nanny state, liberty cannot be achieved. It is the strong that choose the route of liberty. We do need to look to God for guidance, without that guidance we surely will fail. If we could only wake more people up to this fact, the sooner we could get to a government again that is of the people, by the people and for the people with inalienable rights given to us by our creator (God, for a lot of us).

I don’t agree with your take on Romney, but even if I did, with Romney you will buy time to find another better leader to rise up before the country is completely ruined. With Obama, the country will be totally ruined by the next election. I admire high standards and ideals, but sometimes you have to be patient in order for them to be realized. I wouldn’t categorize Romney as a “liberal republican”. My term is Progressive plant in the Republican Party. The left in this country has moved so far left that the “center” or “moderate” position is now between socialism and communism. The Progressives occupy both sides of the “center”. Hugo Chavez says he considers Fidel Castro to the RIGHT of Obama. This makes the traditional American liberal a right winger.

Regardless of who wins the presidential election in November there will be a Progressive in the White House. So it is critical to use our energies to get as many conservatives as possible into the House and Senate. Please don’t let the presidential election keep you away from the polls on election day. Any Republican campaigning as a “moderate”, e.g. David Dewhurst, is a Progressive plant in the Republican Party as far as I am concerned.

This election is not about Democrats and Republicans or even conservatives and liberals. It is about Progressives and everyone else.

Glen is right the Bible says God is not a respector of any man. In order for God to move in your life you must be on his side. Jesus said a man must be born again and that he is the only way to Heaven. If you do not blieve in his word or mock his word God cannot forgive your sins because of what is in your heart. You have to love God more than anything else even your family your wealth more than anything or you are not worthy. So much of what the Bible said would happen has happened there is just a few things left and it looks like we might be living in the end of the age. The end of the age does not mean that the world will end but it does mean that all that reject Christ or attack Israel will be wiped out including Russia the EU ,Iran ,Syria,Turkey and others that form an alliance against Israel. Now what about the US have we been wiped out? Taken over? Or become part of the problem .I think all three we are a nation so deep in debt we cannot even start to pay it back. So your choice read. The Bible yourself pray for understanding.

    PROOF OF LOW IQ:

    Mormon opinions of Native Americans

    Mormon Genocide Doctrine:

“I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today…. The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised. In this picture of the twenty Lamanite missionaries, fifteen of the twenty were as light as Anglos, five were darker but equally delightsome The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.

At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl – sixteen – sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents – on the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather….These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.”(General Conference Report, October, 1960; Improvement Era, December 1960, pp. 922-923)[Appendix p. A-15].

    __________

If you think about it, the only cure for the Mormons is something called “evolution”; I put it in quotes so the Mormons reading this comment will know that this is a word they might need to look up in a dictionary.

Your averment that we as a people have a low IQ is actually quite humorous. Is it my low IQ that helped me become an attorney? Is it our low IQ that has allowed a disproportionate percentage of “Mormons” to become extremely successful in business? Our faith places a high importance on education. You know nothing of who we are nor what we believe.

Why don’t you just stick to telling us what YOU believe to be true rather than foolishly attempting to tell others what THEY believe. Do you lack the faith in your own beliefs to build your foundation upon such?

I don‘t know how many times I’ve asked you this…

WILL YOU PLEASE stop trying to tell people what OTHERS believe and stick to telling people what YOU believe???

You are not a spokesman nor an expert on my religion in any sense. In fact you have shown nothing but contempt and hatred towards everything we hold sacred. EVERYTHING you have cited regarding my religion is cut and paste from some anti-mormon website that misrepresents, takes out of context, and/or twists our doctrines. Thus, please refrain from pretending you understand any of our truths.

**Only those who lack sufficient faith in their own beliefs must demean the beliefs of others in order to support their own.

Thus, do you or do you not have enough faith in your own beliefs to simply share them with people and let them pray and decide for themselves? Here’s an example of how this works — even though you will NEVER hear the name of another religion demeaned from ANY of our pulpits and/or literature, we are still one of the fastest growing religions in the world. All this without ever demeaning what others hold sacred. We simply know that we hold the truth and as we share these truths with people, the Holy Ghost will testify of the truthfulness to them in their hearts. That is why we are growing so fast.

Finally, you’ve never answered my question – are you a minister, preacher, pastor, etc?

When Mormon missionaries quit coming around to Christian faith household trying to convert them, I will stop on these forums my expose’ of the Mormon faith. I have shown many times where your prophets said the things I am talking about. You can say its not in your cannon which is fine, but its there.

You ask why I do these things. Well honestly, if one Mormon sees what I write, puts the BOM down and comes to the real Jesus Christ of the Bible then it has been worth it. I have had a burden put on my heart to help my Mormon friend turn away from the Mormon church. I believe Mormons have been tricked by Satan into believing they are worshiping the God and Jesus of the Bible, when in fact they are worshiping a false god created by Satan.

Mormons like my friend in Colorado believes he could become exalted and turn into a god. He believes that his god was once a man. Those things have led me to believe he is worshiping a creation of Satan.

With these forums are you surprised I could have missed a question from you? To answer your question, no I am not a pastor or preacher.

      @MUTINY

I know of no Latter Day Saint who goes around believing they will become a God with their own planet.

We simply read the scriptures, pray, and do our best to follow the commandments and serve our fellow man.

There are 3 reasons for following Christ:

      1) Fear of punishment if you don’t. (good)
      2) The desire to attain the promised blessings if you do. (better)
      3) A love for the Savior. (best)

Every Saint I know is obedient because of the love for the Savior. We recognize the love the Father & Son have for us and it brings us to a point of humility and amazement that they could love a sinner like them.

To deny they there is a reward for those who have faith in Christ and strive to become more like Him, as we are commanded to do, would be silly. The scriptures read like a “if you do this, then this will happen…” Ex – If you are meek, you will inherit the Earth. If you seek, you shall find – and so on.

What the reward is is inconsequential. We love the Savior, because He loves us.

Missionaries are looking for the ‘elect’ – those that are prepared. They do not try to convert people (that‘s the Spirit’s job).

We are commanded in Matt 28 to preach the Gospel to the world, they love the Savior do much that they are willing to endure the animosity of the many people like you to find the one that is searching.

They preach love, you preach hate.

Stop trying to save your “Mormon” friend and worry about yourself.

I love how you counteract religious philosophy with areligious philosophy. You wouldn’t accept a quote from the bible, but you want me to accept a quote from Isaac Asimov? If your belief is based on evidence or lack thereof, please show me your evidence. I can just as easily say that I believe in god because there is no evidence to support that he doesn’t exist and we would be on the same footing. That is basic logic.

@Denkat56 Why should I respect a quote from the bible? Issac Asimov exists! Do you respect my belief that there is a China Teapot floating in space between earth and mars? Cause I believe it’s true and I dare you to prove me wrong!

“If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes.
But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense.
If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.” -Bertrand Russell (Einsteins favorite person)

      2 points:
      1) Are you asserting that the Bible doesn’t exist? Because I have one sitting fairly close to Isaac Asimov’s books.
      2) If he‘s Einstein’s favorite person, then he must be right about religious matters. This is the same fallacy that so many religionists use. It is commonly known as the “appeal to authority” fallacy. You can quote people all day, but if they aren’t scholars in the field, it doesn’t matter. I will accept every thing Asimov says about writing science fiction, but nothing of what he says about religion.
All I‘m trying to point out is that your argument is the same as the religionist’s, namely, you can’t prove yourself right, therefore you must be wrong. And no amount of quotes is going to change the substance of that argument.

      Grand plan?

      K, I am elected president.

      1. I bring the troops home. I close 90% of our overseas bases. Basically leaving only a few ports and refueling stations.
      2. I propose a budget that cuts current spending levels.
      3. I repeal the Patriot Act, NDAA, and Obamacare.
      4. I end the Federal war on drugs and turn the power over to the states. Any non violent drug offender would be released from Federal prisons.
      5. Only supreme court justices that are pro life would be appointed.
      6. I would lower the corporate tax rate to 15%. 5% on money overseas brought back in.
      7. I would have a flat personal tax of 10% with little to no exemptions.
      8. 55 and below quit paying into SS. 55 and over will continue to get it but at a high age scale.
      9. I would turn over unemployment and welfare programs to the states. If they want it, they pay for it. The fed would block grant money during the transition.
      10. I impose a tariff on all middle eastern oil and give the oil and gas industries incentives to get our resources.
      11. I would restart our nuclear energy programs and get our country power.
      12. I would have our military patrol our southern border.
      13. I would pull out of the UN.
      14. I would start to phase out the Fed by allowing competing currencies. Gold and silver could be used without tax involved or government monitoring.

      That is just for starters.

Nice outline – so how do you do these things? What are the steps you will take? Do you think you just decree and the troops just walk on planes or ships and come home? Then what??

OK so you propose a budget? How do you go about convincing congres to pass it? Or do you just dictate that it shal be done thus so?

      OK – # 3 not so tricky

      # 4 – so what do you do with the people already incarcerated or with the people awaiting trial? How do communicate the war is over and change all the policy and procedure manuals? How do you make sure it happens?

      # 5 ok as long as “you” are doing the appointing what about the next guy? How do you educate the masses to come to the conclusion that only pro-life justices are to be appointed? What about other situations of judicial activism?

You kind of get my drift….. I am not discounting your ideas (I rather like and agree with them) it is the practical implementation of all the details that go along with making them a reality.

We have much work to do and much “re-education” of the masses to acheive. We have to start and now more than ever. We just can’t be naive to believe that any changes can happen magically overnight. It is going to take steps – we got in this mess by steps – we will have to take steps to reverse this (hopefully bigger steps than what got us here)

In any event, it is not up to one man – it is up to all of us tp dp what each of us can do as long as it takes

      1. They marched in, sailed in, drove in, they would do the same out coming home.

      2. Well if I am elected, the party for the most part rallies behind the presidents agenda. The savings alone from overseas military spending is a trillion dollars. When you quit building bridges, schools, and roads in Afghanistan you save money. The fuel and ammo we save would be huge. Ending a lot of programs would save tons of money also. Just think about cutting the 5 departments and the red tape of the ones Ron Paul wanted to cut.

      3. Well again I dont see them as hard to repeal. When you get on tv everyday and tell the people what these bill really do, people will rally behind you. Since most congressmen are only concerned about reelection they will fall in line. If not, I would use executive orders.

      4. Non violent drug related crimes in the federal system would be released. Its simple, you quit having the FBI, DEA, and who ever else spending time and resources on it. They can focus on real issues.

      5. Well honestly you fix abortion by making having a fetus a life. I believe there are bills in congress now that say this. Then honestly it takes care of itself because murder is illegal.

Look, I dont want Obama. I dont want Romney. I realize I am stuck with one of the two, but if we keep supporting the candidate shoved down our throat is anything ever going to change? This election honestly makes the most sense to do the mutiny in due to the fact

The idea of paper money came about, so people didn’t have to carry bags of gold with them, paper money is much more easy to transport.

The problem we have now, with backing our currency with gold, is there is only about 800 Billion in gold world wide. And the U.S. is at over 15 Trillion in debt. And I have no idea how much gold is in the national depositories.

Brian, I understand your point, but it is all in the eyes of the behoder. What say you to auditing the FED, finding all the laws they have broken over the years (I would say many), and then filing charges, making them forgive the debt to the American people, go back to a gold type standard, correcting the market, prices go down, wages go down, and it all fits in toether. That is a dream scenario there, but in reality, we could put a gold standard in place and give the free market its choice. We could still have paper from the FED, and paper printed by the treasury alone, and that would be silver and gold cetificates. In the scenario above, our demand would be for the FED to give back all the gold it stole. There is a way, those are just a couple scenarios, but I do know that if the mind can concieve and believe it can achieve.

Kaydee, The thing you do not get is this one fact. The r3VOLUtion is not about just one man, it is an idea of individual liberty that brings with it freedom for all. It means a fedeal government whose only job is to protect our borders, oversee trade between the states to insure fair trade between them, make sure the states are doing what is best for their people by following the Constitution, which leads into protecting each and everyone of our rights given to us by our creator.

Paul has always said, it does not matter who you send to Washington, if you are not ready as a whole, to be responsible for yourselves without government intervention. If we as a people decide we want to police the entire world at the bequest of the U.N. or NATO, and we as a people want a nanny state to tell us what we can and cannot do, liberty will always be out of our reach.

The first thing Paul would do is write his first and last executive order to repeal all executive orders ever signed. That is a good start. End the wars overseas and the drug wars at home saving billions upon billions of dollars.Another good start. End all foriegn aid to everyone, stopping the Middle East from continuing on their path, as they will have no money and saving billions more. Freeing Isreal; to defend themselves how they want, and standing by them vocally with the world, militarily if we have to and Congress says go. That is Ron Paul. There s more, that all Republicans like, his economic policies.

Another question I would have, is there even any Gold in the Federal Depositories ?

The last time anyone was allowed to even go in to some place like Fort Knox for an outside audit was in the 70′s..

Also there was a very large sale and transfer of Gold to China about two or three years ago, that was facilitated by the U.S. Government and several Democratic Congressmen…..

You say my plans would lead to destruction of the United States. How so and be specific. Also, the path we are on right now for sure leads to destruction, so my plan would either fix things or we would end at the same place as our path now.

The biggest question of all, Mr. Mutiny, is how do you implement those plans after you have re-elected Obama? At least Romney is sympathetic to some of those ideas, and that is a start. Everything needs to happen by degrees. To implement your plan fully and all at once would be a death blow to America.

@Mutiny: In your detailed list, you lose at items 3 and 4. By doing those things, you are no better than Obama. Yes, he has done many wrong things by Executive Order. But you doing things a different way through Executive Order doesn’t make the use of EOs any less criminal.

On item 3, the best YOU could do (or any of us) as President would be to give all the States an exemption. If YOU attempt to repeal it through EO, the next guy will just use your precedent to put it back into place. That‘s been Obama’s excuse every time.

On item 4, YOU do not get to decide which parts of a law or which laws you’re going to prosecute. Even if a law is unconstitutional, it’s not for YOU to decide. The SCOTUS are the ones that get to make that call. By choosing to only prosecute violent offenders under the drug law, you are doing what Obama did with the DOMA. It is not up to YOU as President to decide which laws you’re going to enforce.

The point you’re trying so desperately to avoid, that kaydeebeau keeps smacking you over the head with, is that you cannot do what you want as President as just expect it to happen. You are suppose to work with the Congress. This is why most of us are in an uproar over Obama right now. He’s pretending to work with Congress and then he just does what he wants, like a dictator. It seems that you would do the same thing.

Your idea of putting tariffs on foreign oil would have the same effect as the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act of 1930, and it would have no effect on the price of oil. There needs to be no government interference in the free market at all, just lifting of U.S. oil moratoriums on drilling.

Closing military bases all over the world and a massive reducton in military forces would cause two major economic problems right off.
First thing you would increase unemployment from 8.2% to 12% over-night.
Second, Their are over 1000 American companies that have military contracts with the government. Everything from fortune 500 companies to mom & pop companies. Some companies have 10% of their business in military contracts others 100%.. You would literally cause the Stock Market to crash, and damage economy to the point where there may never be a recovery.

Does America have a lot of problems ? Answer: Yes we do. But the solutions you putting out there, will not work…..

None of us wants a dictator. Even if you are removing obstacles to freedom, the next guy will just do it differently. There were good Kings and bad Kings throughout history. The good ones made people more free. The bad ones took all that away. The purpose of our Constitution was to do away with that system entirely and let men be free forever, not at the whims of other men. What you propose is that things be done your way and then everything will be fine. That’s what a dictator does.

I think you have a lot of good ideas, they just don‘t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of going anywhere in the current climate. Even a proposal to cut the federal budget wouldn’t go anywhere. You think the people in Congress would fall in line just because of your party? They may want to get reelected, but they have no intention of committing suicide to do it. Your budget cuts, I’m sure, would result, rightfully so, in gutting all the social safety nets that their constituents depend on. They would be voted out in an instant for supporting you.

We didn’t get into this mess in one election. We’re not getting out in one election. Changing the President only changes one guy. We need to change the House and Senate as well.

Bryan, I am a man of principle and the only regret that I would ever have is if I gave up my principles to vote for someone like Obama, which is what Romney is. If Obama gets another four because too many Americans did not wake up this election, then we only have to wait four years to try again, if Romney is in, we will have a Republican progressive for eight, or worse, another Democrat progressive for four or eight after the next election. Besides, I stick to my research which tells me Romney cannot win, he will not get any Dems to vote for him, he will only get a small share of the Independents, he will not get the youth, he will not get the Liberty grassroots. How is he going to win? By the Republicans alone? By election fraud like they did in the primary? You tell me what your research tells you.

      @West Coast Patriot

First of all no one is asking you to give up your principle, and if they did, they would be very wrong.

Ron Paul is one of those politicians, when they say something it sounds really good, and I mean really really good. Ron Paul gets an A++++, when it comes to telling people what they want to hear. When you look closely and research what he is saying, you will find that many of the ideas he is putting out there, have been tryed before, with disastrous results.

Now you talk about having principle and I agree with you. But it just can’t be you and me that have them, the politicians have to have principle as well. Now I have noticed that Mr.Paul supports term limits, but he’s been in congress 1976 to 1977, 1979 to 1985 and 1997 to now. Where are Mr. Paul’s principles ?

Is Mitt Romney the ideal candidate ? no he’s not, but none of them are. Not one politician will ever do what you would do or what I would do. Mitt Romney will win the Republican Presidential Nomination, and I will vote for him, because four more years of President Obama is unthinkable…..

Our campaign, my campaign, will be against Romney and Obama. All of you can post your BS about how a write in vote for Paul is a vote for Obama all you want, because our way of thinking is that a vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, no matter what, as Romney is Obama. They are one in the same, so Iwill vote for the Constitution.

“can you elaborate on the disasterous results?” I have on a few things that I’ve posted above, you need to look in to Mr. Paul’s record for yourself, My job is to convince you one way or the other, you need to seek the Truth on your own, and don’t let yourself get blinded by the Bull-****.

And I know who Romney is, Better then Obama.

Here is Mr. Paul’s Voting Record from Congress, From what I’ve found out from Mr. Paul voting record, he does not seem to like the Military, Unemployed People, Children, Balanced Buget, Small Business, you can read the rest on your own…….

I still think it is a giant mistake to make religion such a prominent plank in the greater structure of human freedom.

Of course Religious Freedom is an important element of a free society, but since religion is so contingent upon “faith” and individual solipsistic perspectives (as it should be) it is not a good totem to rally around.

The objection to abortion should not be made on religious grounds. The objection to tyranny should not evoke deities. Our basic human rights (to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) should not be credited to the capriciousness of the gods either.

Human history is full of misery, tyranny, oppression and hardship. We have not gained all that we have simply because some sky-god gave it to us.

Frail is the branch of freedom we are all standing on.

OK – so without “religion” where do our rights come from? God is not a religion – how one chooses to woship Him (or not) is the religion – accepting that there is a God is irreligious – but that is another debate – , so if you are so willing to surrender the foundation – that the government only gets its power from the people and that the people get their inborn power from God, who then becomes the final authority? How then are our rights unalienable if not from a power higher than man? So in your world, who is the ulitmate authority?

      The is no ultimate authority.

At least no supernatural ultimate authority. Nor should there be a strictly materialistic/humanistic “ultimate authority” as mankind is very flawed.

Perhaps the concept of “ultimate authority” itself is the problem. Whether one claims to be on it’s side or to have IT on ones side; it doesn’t matter. The premise and the problem is still the same:

      What is the ultimate authority?

These are deeply philosophical topics, to be sure, that will NEVER be satisfactorily answered to everyone’s liking. But in times of great upheaval and social/political tumult, it is best to keep focused on the broader objective.

Do we, as conservatives, want freedom or do we want acceptance of faith?

Do we want to sully the defense of freedom by making the defense of freedom by coalescing around what is essentially wish-thinking?

With all due respect, I think conservatives should put religion on the back-burner and focus on individual liberty in relation to the state—this defends the macro-concept of broader freedom while encompassing the micro-concept of religious freedom–in other words, it will appeal to more people.

So who decides? You? Me? Obama? Do you have any concept of Absolute Truth? If not, how do we have any rights or any expectationj of civility from anyone? Who can we trust if there isn’t some universally accepted standard of behavior and dealings?

Do you know why our money (fiat that it now may be in reality) says In God We Trust? It is a bond – a promise. Without God (or a higher authority) where do I get the assurance that YOUR word is a bond?

This is much too “philosphical” a conversation to have here especially when I am starting with a relativist.

Since I cannot trust that you hold a higher duty to the Truth or your word – since by your own admission there is no higher authority than your – and by relativism – mine as just as valid as yours – who is the arbiter? Who decides? IHow do I know that your word bond is the equal of my word bond? How do I know that you won’t just decide that it suits you to re-neg on me? What is to stop you if not a higher order or authority?

Without an agreed upon – unchangeable, immutable, steadfast foundation there is no Truth or trust – no cvilization

Without personal responsibility, freedom desolves into anarchy. Without the belief in God, personal responsibility desolves in times of crisis. Hence, you can’t have a sustainable, free society without faith in God.

You mean the unalienable ones endowed upon us by our Creator? What claim does anyon have upon these “rights” if they reject the laws given by the same Creator? They are no more “basic human rights” than any other made up by the entitled or sold by their masters. Either rights come from God or they come from government. I’m not gonna argue with you about which it is, but with all due repsect, that branch of freedom you appear to have made your perch upon is much more frail than that of our Founders..
