Beck Hosts Panel of Doctors Who Might Quit Medical Profession Over Obamacare

On Tuesday evening, Glenn Beck brought up a recent poll revealing that 83 percent of doctors have considered quitting the medical profession over Obamacare. To delve into the matter on a deeper level, Beck hosted a panel of doctors to get their take on the Affordable Care Act and find out what it means for their profession.
The doctors tackled issues that will likely arise as a result of Obamacare’s implementation, such as rationing, decision by committee, and burdensome inefficacy. One panelists vowed to quit the medical profession in 2014 after what will be nearly three decades caring for people. He said the reason is because he will no longer be able to “look patients in the eye” and tell them that he’s able to give them the best quality care available. “I can’t lie to patients,” he said.
Beck’s own doctor even weighed in, saying that government bureaucrats will “destroy” the doctor patient relationship.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 9:55amHas anyone here checked out to see who this organization is? The Doctor Patient Medical Organization who conducted this “survey” was founded in 2011 and is heavy on the side of Tea Party groups, etc. It is not a doctor organization but a special interest group which everyone is now quoting. Even the survey is questionable at best. While you may say doctors may quit, this 83% number cited by all the republicans on tv and apparently even Mr. Beck, is bogus as is the survey. A simple fact check on google would have worked. Interested in truth or not?

Posted on July 13, 2012 at 3:32pmAgreed. The survey did not mention Obamacare or any policy in particular. “We found it came from a survey by the Doctor Patient Medical Association Foundation, a group founded last fall that is opposed to the health care law.
The group asked: “How do current changes in the medical system affect your desire to practice medicine?” According to the group, 83 percent answered, “Makes me think about quitting,” 5 percent said, “I’m re-energized,” while 13 percent said they were unsure or had no opinion.”

(Check out the salaries in the US compared to Canada for doctors AND other health care professionals). There isn’t going to be just a shortage of docs, there’s going to be many other health care professionals throwing in the towel as well.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 12:49amThe ignorance of some people are just mind boggling. How do you know what is going to happen if you don’t even bother reading the bill itself. Pelosi was right when she said that you have to pass the bill in order to know whats inside. Anyone can download the Health Care bill and read it, but will anyone do it? Probably not because it is just easier to repeat talking points rather than doing any research. Go ahead and keep believing in what you want, and keep denying the fact that are out there. Just remember, there will be a day when you will have to explain to your elderly Mother or Father why they are being refused much needed medicine or why they have to wait months to see a Doctor. Try explaining to your child with a high fever that won’t go down why you cannot take them to the Doctor so they can feel better. Enjoy what you have now, because if Obamacare does not get repealed it is going to be a very bumpy ride.

They have no comprehension of our overhead and that we are often not paid. It’s hopeless.we go to school for so long and graduate with crushing debt, the malpractice insurance costs escalate over time even if you have never had a claim. If you take Medicaid and Medicare then you are consigned to a life of poverty, this is what everyone’s career will be when we get single payer. It won’t just be my profession wo suffers under Obama Care though, everytime I go to continueing medical education we have classes on “end of life and HOSPICE” and the virtues of hospice and it‘s not just for cancer anymore it’s for COPD, heart disease, dementia lots of serious diseases which require frequent hospitalizations. Posted on July 10, 2012 at 11:17pmI’ll believe it when I see it, regards to the 83%. I know a good number will drop out, but over time.
Remember, there was a similar poll stating somewhere between (I forget the exact number) 70 & 85% of doctors would quit if Obamacare[Tax] was passed. That didn’t happen. They’ve been holding out hope on repeal.
The proof will be if it doesn’t get repealed, if we lose the Senate. Then we’ll start slowly seeing the numbers.
I started the video interview and before Glenn even said it, I was thinking the same thing, with different words: if doctors start dropping out, which ever person pro ObamacareTax in office sees doctors going, there will be a Federal mandate, a fiat, that doctors cannot quit without approval from the government.
Of yes, there will be jails.

Posted on July 11, 2012 at 1:06amI don’t get you Obama Koolaid suckers… Talk to your own Doctor, I have. Read the darn bill yourselves, I have. This bill will KILL our healthcare and our economy. It does none of the things it promises to do and EVERYTHING they said it would not do. There is no pre-existing condition coverage in there. It says insurance companies cannot deny you coverage, but it puts no limits on what they can charge you. Equal premiums for men and women…increased premiums for men to share the costs of women’s healthcare so married couples will pay the same and single men will pay more! It does cover abortions, it does violate religious freedoms, it does have rationing. It does not decrease costs (nothing in this bill addresses anything that inflates costs), it adds new reporting requirements, regulations that require compliance and new taxes on medical care devises; so guess what folks health care costs are going UP! There is nothing in the bill that addresses what you may be charged for insurance, only that you must buy it. It mandates that all kinds of things must be covered in a plan, so people can no longer just buy inexpensive major coverage plans. And it turns Doctors into slaves (work for this wage or be put out of service). This bill should have folks rioting in the streets, but keep watching MSNBC and clapping at Obama’s talking points. Geez did you all have a labotomies.

I have decided I couldn’t go on working and keep taking less but be expected to do more and more government paperwork and maybe get paid maybe not. I was working at more than one job to make ends meet for those times when Medicare or Medicaid would decide to change everything and maybe not pay for 2 months or more. Sometimes Medicare or Medicaid would change the rules on what they would pay for and they made the rules and there was no use to argue. They wore me down. I had one time Medicare didn’t pay for 8 or 9 months. I was expected to maintain and the majority of my patients were old.

I wish there would be a weekly program on GBTV that would go over the 2700 pages of the Health Care bill until the election. The American people need to know exactly what they are in for; like bureaucrats telling the Doctor how to treat their patients instead of the Doctor making the decisions. Patients will be treated the same according to their diagnosis instead of as individuals and according to not just their diagnosis but other medical issues as well.
Report Post »The other issue is our politicians will not be under Obama care, they will have a gold standard policy; I asks if Obama care is so great why aren’t they going to be under the same health care plan? Posted on July 10, 2012 at 9:15pmThere will be a shortage of Doctors. But not “Providers,” as we are now referred. This will allow for armies of poorly trained, undereducated, less skilled public education victims to become Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and who knows what other clever names will be given to “the midlevel providers.” Right now, in America, a person can become an RN in as little as two years. Another year of school and clinical rotations allows them to hang out a shingle an practice medicine in many states, Maryland among them. How much background does a physician have? Not counting those who started medical studies AFTER another degree/career course (many nurses, chiropractors, and other medical specialists return to school later in life), four years University, four years medical school, and a minimum of a year in an internship, but most everyone takes on another 3 or more years in Residency in a specialty area. Neurosurgeons may have upwards of 12 to 15 years of education AFTER High School before they poke around inside brains. Your Family Practitioner, nine to eleven years. But the Nurse Practitioner doesn’t “cost” as much for a system like Obama’s Tax Care, and the Universities will be ramping up their programs, just watch. The Nurse will see you now.
