The heat of the afternoon sun in Jerusalem could not match the fervor of Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Courage” call to follow a “pillar of fire” in pursuit of the truth and wisdom.

After months of preparation, the controversial event unfolded smoothly with Beck telling the large crowd, “I have been asked: What can you teach Israel about Courage?   My answer is simple.  Nothing.  Then they ask: Why are you coming to Israel? Because, I say: In Israel, you see courage.”

Beck described the world as “confused,” and pointed to flash points in Europe as signs of societies losing touch with philosophical moorings:

“In Europe, the great nations of the past – Greece, Italy, Spain, Britain – are falling into chaos and violence.

We have raised up a generation who cannot tell the difference between what they owe society and what society owes them.

They interviewed the rioters in England. Why, they were asked, are you stealing shoes or televisions. “Because,” the rioters said in response, “because we deserve them.”

We may think: Oh, how different are today’s youth! But the young merely imitate their parents. They have seen how the world reacts to evil – with indifference. They watch, they learn, they imitate. What one generation tolerates, the next generation will embrace.”

Anti-Beck protests chanted from outside the Old City walls, but groups of pro-Beck Israelis countered with signs and songs of their own.

Beck challenged the live crowd and those watching on his new GBTV network to read what he is calling a Declaration of Rights & Responsibilities:

In order to continually experience life, liberty and happiness as promised, nature’s God demands obedience to His law to protect those rights.

This is where we have fallen short and therefore, in order not to lose the blessings of freedom, the people of the world must turn from the sole focus on rights, and recognize the inherent and required responsibilities that we have.

Among the responsibilities to which we must adhere to maintain our God given rights are honor, courage and vigilance.

Over time, we believe that these basic human responsibilities have been trampled, and replaced with degradation, fear and apathy.

You can read the full declaration here.

Saying that “it didn’t take a prophet to see these things,” Beck described his growing concern that turbulent world affairs would bode ill for Israel:

“And so this year, when I saw Tunisia’s and Egypt’s rulers crack and fall and the world called it the Arab Spring, I said: Where could this be going? And behind these revolutions was a familiar force, a force that will place those nations under a new pharaoh. And that force, I said, would come up to the borders of Israel. And so it has.

We are not at the mercy of these events. We can alter the course of history. We can stand against the dangerous arc of this story.

But we need people who are willing to speak truth. We need inspiration. We need a model to follow.”

Beck said that at the conclusion of his speech he would leave that instant for South Africa:

“Some people call Israel an apartheid state. I reject that. And so immediately following this program I will fly to South Africa, which is where apartheid actually existed. I will broadcast from Cape Town tomorrow morning to remind the world what the evil of apartheid really looked like.

And I will learn from the people who conquered the hatred, ignorance and bigotry and who chartered a peaceful course for a new South Africa.

Then on Friday I will fly to South America to plead the case of human responsibility to a group of nearly 5,000 local leaders from all over the continent and ask them to join me in standing in defense of Israel, the Jewish people and responsibility.

Finally on Sunday, I will speak to 5,000 Americans in Dallas, Texas.   I have chosen to end my week in the town where I will headquarter the charitable division of my company, Mercury One.  Dedicated to the idea that one man, inspired by one God, makes a difference. This trip will end where a global moment begins.”

Maybe it would be helpful to use logic to help you determine your beliefs rather than allowing your beliefs to dictate your logic, because logic dictates that a huckster is concerned with profit and Glenn would have made a great deal more profit if he would have continued with Foxnews. Agree with the poster to combine the numerous stories into one or two articles. But then he is The Blaze so we should not expect anything other than this.

Guess what made me become a Glenn Beck fan. I researched what he said and found it to be factual and true. I did the same for CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC. They made comments that were totally false about something that was actually on tape. They began the name-calling, the degradation, etc., and I decided that listening to someone I can’t depend on for the truth is simply a waste of my time. Had you actually watched his shows, you would know that he showed the actual speeches and/or articles in print, then added what research he had obtained. He, then, told everyone NOT to take his word, but to do our own research. That is not a ‘huckster’.
The other reason I listen to Glenn? No other person in the media…no one has told me to prepare for some hard times. About four years ago, I heeded his words. I bought extra food, water and batteries. All of a sudden, the prices of all of the above are beginning to skyrocket, exactly as Glenn said they would.
The difference between me and a CNN, NBC, ABC or CBS listener is that I am prepared. Oh, and I haven’t sold my soul. The media can‘t afford to tell you the truth or even offer some common sense suggestions because that would be admitting their ’leader‘ isn’t the sharpest tool in the economic, international or business world.
It is your right to dislike Glenn Beck, but do yourself a favor. Buy extra food, water, blankets, batteries, etc., then go on living. Your comfort level will rise considerably.

Beck’sNuts: Great men advocating true change all throughout history have usually been rejected by majorities in their time and especially by the contemporary power structure in place- including legions of blind drones like you. They have a core of devoted followers who feel the truth in their hearts and bones. The rest find out later after their influence has initiated mammoth changes in society. After the old hatreds settle down or die out, their greatness is then recognized by history. Glenn is such a man. Very terrible and very great things are in the offing and Glenn has seen them and warned us among many other inspired themes. We are very grateful. History is being made at this very moment by Glenn Beck. Deal with it and weep.

I posted this below but I want to be sure everyone has a chance to look it up…

“Into the Cannibal’s Pot: Lessons for America from Post-Apartheid South Africa”

The review below states that Ms. Mercer is a liberal. She’s not. She’s a wonderful conservative Jewish woman who writes for WND. Other than that the review is accurate and the book is a must read for those not dependent upon FOX News, MSNBC, and Glenn Beck for their History.

“When South Africa was governed by a racist white minority, it was scorned by the West … Now that a racist, black majority government controls the country … it’s the toast of the West.” Classical liberal columnist, writer and former South African Ilana Mercer deconstructs the new democratic South Africa, a country where government corruption, rape and murder are all in a day’s work. Scholarly and readable, Mercer gives a detailed account of the country’s history, from the early days of the Dutch settlers, all the way through to Colonial rule, apartheid and beyond to the nation’s current state of being dismantled from the bottom up, quickly becoming in the authors words “another Islamist friendly, failed African state.”

Techengineer raises interesting points about South Africa.

True, the West scorned it during the apartheid era, while at the same time dealing with it in virtue of its strategic location and its resources. (Interestingly, so did Israel, among other things sharing military, including nuclear technology with SA.)

At the same time, the Nationalist regime in SA both defied the West and made itself out to be its scorned defender against Communism in Africa. In doing so they were indulging in self-pity for home consumption, but by the 1980s they were in fact fighting actual Communists, what with Cubans in Angola and so on. Also the ANC had a lot of support and organizational stiffening at key points from the (mostly white-led) Communist Party, which still is something of a force in SA, and the ANC itself took on certain left-wing trappings: the notion of “comradeship,“ an alarming dedication to ”struggle.” etc.

I don‘t think it’s exactly the “toast of the West,” nor does it want to be. Sometimes it aspires to African leadership, as in its effort to broker a distinctly “African” solution in Libya. Sometimes it thinks of itself as in the same league as the other BRICs–as in BRICS–in virtue of its resources, large population, and sizeable developed sector (yes, most of it developed by whites). It’s like Israel, in that it was a very late-blooming “settler society” in a region whose natives were not so easily exterminated.

      Just a couple of notes.
      1) If you are wondering why there are people in Israel that are opposed to Beck all you have to do is to look at the U.S. We HAD a wonderful Constitutional Republic that WAS the envy of the world, and yet there are those that live here, benefiting from the Constitution, that want to destroy it… kind of like craping in your dinner bowl. Which proves that there are idiots everywhere.
      2) Those who are commonly called “trolls” are most likely teenage idiots that get a kick out of irritating people from afar or they may hack into computers just for the “kicks”. If not teenagers, then they are most assuredly juvenile… AKA mental midgets that never progressed mentally. These very same people are misfits that don’t fit into society in general and most, if not all, would benefit from psychiatric help. From time to time you will read about these juvenile misfits when they think that it would be a good idea to blow up a school or commit mass murder or they may commit suicide to teach us a lesson. Whatever they do, it will be really stupid… you know, like lurking on message boards that they don’t agree with and posting messages just to irritate people. Most of these misfits have more than one name that they post under… just so that they can have the support and acceptance that they crave. We should feel sorry for these lonely misfits. It is not uncommon for these misfits to rant against a God that they don’t believe exists.

Is anyone else as astounded as I am about the “only 5% of humanity has ever lived in FREEDOM” statistic? I mean…THANK YOU GOD…how special YOU have made life for us. HOW much we OWE YOU and in the spirit of “TO MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS EXPECTED” we need to get busy.
GLENN WAS MASTERFUL. TANYA WAS WONDERFUL…HIS MC (the young man Glenn Hired) was wonderful …all so real…so well suited to the roles they were given. I loved every second of it and will enjoy seeing it again. I LOVE THE GBTV CONCEPT too…. It works..it’s going to change my TV WATCHING….This is the future.
TO THOSE THAT HAVE MUCH, MUCH IS REQUIRED. Can we please get rid of these childish, ‘entitled’ spoiled brats now in office starting at the top…can we please make sure everyone in America knows it’s special value and become AMERICANS not tribal members of some foreign tribe…Can people pay their fair share…carry their weight. CAN WE STOP the bloody DEMS spending and buying votes…those cornballs… (The ones who have figured it out have left those ditzy, pelosi infected dems) AND CAN WE PLEASE HONOR GOD ?

Hopefully it won’t be too long before God will open their eyes. Just like the people here about their ancestors that were slaves. They now think that they are to be taken care of. @AT A DOCTOR’s – You are incorrect in your belief. I am Momon, and we do worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You referenced material that is only believed by breakaway, offshoot branches of people who left the LDS faith, and typical anti-Mormon tripe. Either you are misinformed, or you are perpetrating the same lies and mistruth that liberals subscribe to. In that case, you are breaking one of the basic ten commandments about bearing false witness. Which is it?

I also find it ironic that you would say such a thing especially after the rally today. Wasn’t part of what was being said about tolerance and living in peace with your neighbors of different faiths? Jeesh. You must of missed that part when you went to the bathroom.

I wish that all of you who wish to defame Mormonism would actually do your own research by going to the source instead of relying on your pastor or minister. If you really understood the anti-Mormon lies you are being fed, and the deception you are buying into, you would be appalled. You should ask yourself why your pastor or minister spends so much time trying to defame Mormonism. We don’t talk about and bring down your religion and faith. Our focus is on the Savior, His Atonement, and His Gospel.

Finally, there is a saying (author unknown) I like that I want to share:

“Be careful of the words you say, keep them soft and sweet. You never know of the words you say, the one‘s you’ll have to eat.”

America first! And only by example can it lead. In order to lead, people must be awakened. There is nothing crazy about Israel. There is only the desire for survival and the hatred it faces. You, Jesus H. are one of the haters that Israel must defend against. For, it is those who speak as you do who will hide their heads in the sand as innocent people are slaughtered. There are those who can stand by and think only of themselves while others have their things and their loved ones ripped from them. Are you one of those enablers who would have allowed the holocaust? If you were not around in the 1940′s, will you be one of them as we face the same threat? Do you not believe there is that threat? When protesters carrying signs with swastikas and slogans (“the gas chambers are ready”) are on your television or computer screens, will you not notice? Will you laugh it off as a non-issue? That’s is what occurred before and that is what will happen again if no one stands up.

If you cannot see that Israel is our first line of defense against Arab aggression spreading from the middle east to Europe on its way to the US then you are totally lost. It does not take a sheep to understand the Arabs want the entire world to become “Muslim” and those that refuse will be killed. They move into a free country and want to set up their own communities and their own laws and separate those countries into pieces. Israel is no different – they want to carve it up for their supposed brothers the Palestinians. Those same Palestinians they deny any rights in their own countries. Its all a sham. All any sheep needs to do is look at how Christians and other non-Muslim faiths are treated in Arab countries today – “Off with their heads”…

“Her philosophy (objectivism) is ‘to think for yourself’”

Thats the problem, when you subscribe to any “ism”, it becomes impossible to think for yourself. individuals are ostracized by groups and collectives (regardless of their creed). Again, it is an oxymoronic concept to be part of a group which is all about “individualism”. It kind of reminds me of the punk movement, “its about about being yourself”. Indeed, they all seem to think and act as one to me, and no group, institution, or collective body is exempt. if you want true individuality, you are not going to find it with a best selling artist or talk show host, for they behave just like demagogues.

if you want true independence then get rid of your savior (science killed him long ago anyways), and destroy the idols.

Platitude, you are the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black.
Ayn Rand was a CAPITALIST! Individualism is an absolutely necessary component of Capitalism, but what Rand defended to the end of her days was the only economic system that allows the individual to control his/her own destiny. In her essay collection about economic issues “Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal” she, along with several well respected economist (including past Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan) discuss what true Capitalism is and how it works. She also clarifies the “Roots of War” where she explains that, outside of voluntary charity there are two ways to acquire something: take it, or swap something for it. Conquest or trade. There is no other option. Government is the agent of conquest, capitalism the agent of trade. She also shows the logical progression of each. She explains how welfare states are not based on today’s buzz word -“altruism”- but on control, and how this system always collapses when it no longer has the means to support its masses and then turns to plunder. Historically, that evidence is there. In a trade society, those who offer the best value win. Rand, in another essay in this collection explains how “human Rights” have gone from claims you have on your own life to claims those “rights” give you to make on someone else’s life.
In another essay in that book, “Extremism–or the Art of Smearing”, Rand shows us how left-leaning collectivi

I would never condemn Mr. Beck by wishing he receive the award…I am an avid fan of cinema, and I think it can be used to describe reality, when it is both stranger than fiction, and more poignant…at the end of The Dark Knight, Commissioner Gordan tells his son that Batman is the hero it deserves, but not the one it needs right now. It’s very enlightening that the same can be said about Mr. Beck – he is the hero we need, but not the one the world deserves right now. He epitomizes the requirements for the Nobel Peace Prize, and yet it is so tainted. As we rekindle our personal relationships with God, and with each other, let us once make the world in our image, as it is the law for people to do so who love God, as we have been made in his. Let us remake a world where love, peace, truth, and courage are the requirements for merit, not popularity contests, that is politics. I believe in Glenn Beck, because he believes in God – that is what makes us brothers. That is why I will lead along with him.

To know South Africa, you must have lived there for at least 20 years. It is very complex. The Black on Black violence is rampant. Apartheid was abominable, but what they have used to replace it is worse. Violence, starvation, crime and absolutely no human kindness. And yes, I did live there for 20 years. I grieve and pray for S.A.

As it was in early America, with freedom comes responsiblity. S Africa is not what he should be, but I pray it becomes what it could be. Aparthied was tyranny for so many, yet the world united against it and it is gone. We have to pray, work and support for those who are in S Africa and are trying to make it a country of peace, as we stand with others around the world who are doing the same thing. Glenn may not be perfect and he is the first to admit it, but he is trying to make a difference and is leading and sacrificing himself and his money to promote freedom, compassion and godliness.
Take care Glenn and God Bless.

As I understand it, GB will address an audience of mostly conservative, Zionist-minded South African Jews. I doubt he cares much about SA as such, except, as you suggest, as a hopey-feely backdrop for his American devotees who perhaps have seen Invictus one too many times.

Too bad, because SA is not only fascinating, inspiring and horrifying all at once, but does in fact offer some parallels with Israel. If you doubt this, take a look some time at the crazy-quilt map of the West Bank with its settlements, Israeli-controlled roads and checkpoints, and compare it with a map of Bophuthatswana, or any of the other African “homelands” sponsored by the apartheid regime. In both cases, good land, water and other resources were in the hands of what the bulk of the people regarded as an alien and oppressive power.

In SA, the white leadership eventually realized that this could not go on. Beck apparently wants it to go on in the case of Israel, heedless of the interests or rights of the Palestinians.

I have also seen the “aid” the Palestinians receive in the form of a standard of living higher than many of us in middle class US. And those Arabs living within Israel have rights far beyond any Christian or Jew that might try to live within the bounds of the Palestinian areas.

Many of the Palestinians are Christians.

Few of them enjoy what an American would call a middle-class standard of living.

But even if they did, they still remain effectively stateless people, not a healthy situation for them or for the Israelis.

      Blight,

what’s funnier is that he left Fox before they could fire him for plunging ratings, and a list of companies vowing to NOT advertise on his show reaching 400. Now, he can get advertising for his show so what does he do? He charges people so he doesn’t need advertising dollars! LOL I think Beck realizes where the money is and knows he needs the Jewish community.

They welcome the support for the Jewish state, many Jews say, but some are uncomfortable over recent Beck pronouncements on Judaism and with the rally’s close association with conservative evangelical Christians from the United States.

In February, Beck criticized Reform Judaism – a major movement among American Jews – on his radio show. At the time, Beck said Reform rabbis are “generally political in nature.”

“It’s almost like Islam, radicalized Islam in a way,” Beck continued, “ … radicalized Islam is less about religion than it is about politics. … When you look at the Reform Judaism, it is more about politics.”

The Anti-Defamation League’s Foxman called the statement “highly offensive and outrageous.” Beck apologized for using a “horrible analogy.”

It’s just a matter of time before he screws up! LOL

Your ignorance is shown by your misspelling of the word “Mormon”.

But I have 2 simple questions for you.

      1. When was the last time you stood before a group of 15 or more people and shared your convictions or the sincere thoughts of your heart?
      2. When was the last time you publicly stood in defense of a people or a person?

My point is this. It takes courage to stand and sincerely share your thoughts and feelings. And it takes a man or a woman who is true to his or herself to publicly stand for a person or a people to the danger of oneself and their family. I would venture to say that you lack this character and courage. I invite you to prove me wrong.

I didn’t assume anything and that is not my list, it’s a list of heads of the major media outlets in american! You can’t deny it! LOL I didn’t say that these are the only people beck appeals to. I’m simply saying FROM EXPERIENCE that the Jewish community is very close knit, and they look out or each other, and those that look out for them. You think beck doesn’t know this? It’s no different that someone pretending to like something simply because thier boss likes it to gain favor!
Those seven Jewish men collectively control ABC, NBC, CBS, the Turner Broadcasting System, CNN, MTV, Universal Studios, MCA Records, Geffen Records, DGC Records, GRP Records, Rising Tide Records, Curb/Universal Records, and Interscope Records.

Most of the larger independent newspapers are owned by Jewish interests as well. An example is media mogul is Samuel I. “Si” Newhouse, who owns two dozen daily newspapers from Staten Island to Oregon, plus the Sunday supplement Parade; the Conde Nast collection of magazines, including Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Allure, GQ, and Self; the publishing firms of Random House, Knopf, Crown, and Ballantine, among other imprints; and cable franchises with over one million subscribers.”

But God has restored Jimmy Swaggard to his former place of service in God’s kingdom. He did this as an example to all of us sinning Christians that God’s love knows no boundries. His forgiveness knows no sin that cannot be washed away with the blood of Christ. His mightly hand is strong and can restore any of us, or even a fallen nation, to a place of grace of mercy. You also speak as if you have done a lot of reasearch on Glenn, but really you haven’t. If you were to go back to before he was on TV and listen to his radio shows you would see that he has a very long track record for supporting Israel.

As for being fired off of FOX. Well he put it best on his last show. It was live. Who in the world would allow a man who you fired to broadcast live for months after you fired him? Especially the last show. To much damage could be done. There has to be a lot of trust to allow him to continue the show after he announced he would not return.

And he is doing this to suck up to the media big wigs? Do you mean the same ones he left? Do you mean the same ones he will compete against on a daily basis with his own channel? Do you mean the ones that he downs on a daily basis?

Thomasdaddy, you think you are very smart, but you really are not. Like Glenn or hate him, I don’t care. But please do not come here and try to act like you know anything about him or his motives. If you do, try to bring some actual good points to the table.

Glenn has to expect to take a lot of flack from opponents of many stripes. What he is doing is odd in that it defies categorization. Is he a Preacher, Evangelist, Man of God in any way? Is he a “Statesman” (If so, he’s the first non-political statesman I’ve ever heard of) Or IS he a Political figure? I think as long as he continues his self-described “Fusion of Entertainment and Enlightenment” radio program (which definitely has a healthy dose of silliness), he risks never being taken as seriously as he seems to want to be lately. Not that he or anyone here much cares what I think about him.

I don’t see why the people cares about mocking Walmart shoppers. There is a whole leftist website devotes to that kinda thing.

Now if it is hateful, the left better come clean! If it’s just in good fun, then who gives a crap who does it?

Sacred honor, to make sport of anonymous characters via email is relatively harmless compared to the roasting a named person on national radio, especially when two other grown men are ganging up along with Beck. Surely you understand the difference. Beck’s actions were reprehensible and disgusting. He is no moral leader and he never was.

Compare those protesters in Israel to those we see in the United States. Same socialist and communist mentality.

Great job Glenn. I can’t believe there are people in Israel that are actually protesting. How do these people not see that they have very few friends left? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKZhaEFA1Yk

How could George Soros (a Jew) aid the Nazis? There seems to be no shortage of self loathing Jews.

it is inspiring to watch a man with a conviction, in spite of all the opposition. Hope that serves as an example for the rest of us.

GBeckian propaganda at it’s finest. Whilst speaking of all this courage and love stuff today, he has a very recent history of lying about people that disagreed with him. Remember the poisoning Pelosi sketch? Remember the dousing someone in fuel sketch?

Israel is the largest lunatic asylum on the earth, and today, finally, Beck returned home.

      MARHEE9,
Progressives are EVERYWHERE in the world…,to include Israel.
Every 40 or 50 years their minions scurry out from their dark hiding places to abet them in trying to destroy what is good.
