Beck Goes Global, Meets With Catholic Clergy & Int’l Tea Party Leaders in Rome

The political discourse has been dominated by the religious liberty debate that continues to intensify between the Catholic Church and the Obama administration – an issue that Glenn Beck has tackled quite frequently on his radio and television programs. This weekend, The Blaze has confirmed that Beck flew from Miami to Rome, where he had meetings with prominent Catholic Church leaders. In addition to holding discussions with them about important religious freedom issues, Beck also met with individuals from various countries to discuss the creation of an international Tea Party movement.

During his dialogue with Cardinals, Monsignors, Archbishops and other Catholic leaders, the popular host pledged support for the church, while also discussing ways in which members of various faith communities can join in solidarity against secular attacks against religion. As evidenced through his work, Beck has long encouraged people of all faiths to stand together — distinct and separate in their beliefs — but united in their support of everyone to practice those ideals without persecution.

Glenn Beck with Cardinal Dolan
Additionally, Beck met with Tea Party leaders from Rome, Serbia, Milan, Germany, Austria, and London, among other localities, to begin discussing an international coalition that is being headed by FreedomWorks. Reflecting the ideals held by peace and freedom proponents in America, the persons involved discussed their goals for an integrated global effort to champion Tea Party ideals.
Be sure to listen to his radio show on Monday, as Beck will be sharing all of the details surrounding his meetings with church leaders and international Tea Party groups, while also delving into his vision for a multi-faith coalition that stands in support of religious liberty. Additionally, throughout the upcoming week, The Blaze will provide ongoing information and follow-up reports that further explain what’s to come.

These meetings with Catholic leaders are the latest in a series of discussions that Beck has had with numerous faith leaders, including evangelical pastors and rabbis, among others. His efforts to connect with these theologically diverse individuals reflect his desire to bring adherents from various faith traditions together to support religious liberty here in America and abroad.
“We are not battling for the next election, we’re battling for the very soul of each of us and of our nation,” he recently proclaimed on GBTV.
Religious liberty is becoming an issue of great importance across the globe, as Christians, Jews, Muslims and other faith traditions grapple with an increasingly hostile clash with the atheist and “freethinking” community. Additionally, governmental policies are, in many ways, beginning to mirror secularist ideals that tend, in the views of many religious peoples and institutions, to threaten spiritual expression.

Beck and his wife, Tania, walk in Vatican City
The examples are limitless. Earlier this month, England’s high court found prayer before local council meetings to be unlawful, and last week Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, a Muslim who is also a British Cabinet member, maintained that Europe is being threatened by militant secularism. Considering New York City churches’ battle for the right to rent public school buildings, incessant attacks on Ten Commandment displays, and secularists’ never-ending efforts to force churches to violate their consciences, Beck’s coalition is coming at an appropriate time.
In addition to holding these meetings, Beck went to Greece in preparation for a special project he will soon be announcing. Tune in to GlennBeck.com, GBTV and The Blaze for more on these important announcements.

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 7:15amJust translate the wall behind Glenn…
It says, in all caps,
” WHERE THE PEACEFUL REVOLUTION IS IMPOSSIBLE, THE VIOLENT IS NEEDED ”
Followed by the symbol for ANARCHY (lawlessness)
It is from a John F Kennedy speech he gave when he addressed Latin American diplomats in the State Dining Room of the White House, regarding the first anniversary of the “Alliance for PROGRESS.” Kennedy lays out the initiative’s creation, and its accomplishments. He inluded the “Charter of Punta del Este.” He also stated his hopes for future social, political, and economic development for the people of Latin America.
Report Post »This address was on March 13, 1962.
Of couse, the smelly anarchists have taken it out of context… as usual.
I think Kennedy’s actual words were, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 11:34amIs there some way the United States can issue an international disclaimer to assure the rest of the world that Mr. Beck does not represent the position of the United States and please don’t assume that this simpleton is a typical American? The amount of pure megalomanical energy running through this guy’s body is astonishing. Seriously; who else could think that a six-hour visit to the birthplace of Western civilization is sufficient to understand it fully and draw meaningful conclusions? Beck is the perfect example of a stupid person who thinks they can educate themselves thoroughly about any topic after spending a few hours on the Internet “researching” the issue. His notion of comprehension is limited by his own attenuated ability to comprehend. To put it differently, if the only tool you have is a dull intellect, every problem looks simple. I am waiting for him to reveal himself as an American Borat: a parody intended to highlight everything that is shortsighted and embarrassing about Americans who are unable to see anything except from the perspective of their tiny fishbowl.

Birthplace for the earth
Report Post »According to several LDS writers (such as Cleon Skousen in his book The First 2000 Years), the earth was created near Kolob over a period of 6000 years (six “days” in Kolob time), and then moved to its present position in our solar system. This theory is based on oral comments attributed to Joseph Smith, Jr. The theory is also based on a passage from the Book of Abraham stating that in the Garden of Eden, time was measured “after the Lord’s time, which was after the time of Kolob; for as yet the Gods had not appointed to Adam his reckoning” According to the theory, the reason that Earth time was measured in Kolob time was because the earth was physically located near Kolob. As a corollary, some LDS writers argue that at the end times, the earth will be plucked from the solar system and returned to its original orbit near Kolob.

And we can know that this work that Glenn Beck is doing is in complete alignment with the will of God- that Christians would become One, as Christ and the Father are One. We can disagree on minor items, agreeing that we are on the same side, carrying the banner of Christ while He does the battle. Pulling together in love is actually how we are to be recognized as believers in Christ.
To those hung up on denominational differences (let me remind you that divided we fall, but united we stand). And, as Jesus put it:
Matt. 12:25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:08am@LEGAL IMMIGRANT – Thanks for taking the bait! I made this statement on purpose so that I could add onto it with the following thoughts.
During the current and last election cycle, except for Ron Paul supporters, the Tea Party has been schizophrenic about the candidates they support. This happens when one of their darlings drops out of the race. Now they are vacillating between Newt Gingrich and Santorum – who really do not have Tea Party values, but pretend that they do. I especially find their support of Gingrich hypocritical, given there is another candidate that is much closer to Tea Party values than Gingrich ever will be.
This candidate is Romney. But the reason why the Tea Party will not support Romney is not because of his policies and positions, but because of his religion. Tea Partiers use “Romneycare” as their excuse, but Gingrich has always supported national comprehensive health care. Only a few people have spoken of this, but it was FINALLY brought up after Gingrich’s win in S.C. – Religious bigotry had a play in the outcome.
According to Freedom Works The Tea Party is approximately 80% evangelical. Evangelicals are generally good people, but are major propagators of anti-Mormon rhetoric that falls in line with the bigotry you accused me of. As a Mormon, why would I join a group whose members have a history of persecuting my religion? Why would I join a group that won’t vote for someone because of his choice of religion? I wouldn’t.

That we will rule with him for a thousand yrs. and he will rule with an iron rod.
My question to my fellow blazers is this. (And I know it does not matter, I am just curious what others think)
Will Jesus rule us as one Nation, a one World Government so to speak. Or will he possibly divide us into 12 tribes as Israel did. Or will we remain in our individual Nations, with our Jesus appointed leaders, all of which will report and answer to him.

I think a lot of Christians have left behind syndrome where they are just letting the evil happen thinking that they will get taken out first. Mid trib makes more sense, especially after reading matt 24 and the first part of revelation. be prepared to go now and to go through it as well and you cannot lose.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 9:09pmThe Bible says that Jesus will hand out rewards to his followers. In the parable of the talents, he gives out leadership over cities. I believe that the most faithful will be given leadership over some of these cities; the number of cities that they will be given will be based on what they did here on earth (salvation, on the other hand, is only based on whether you accepted God’s grace and forgiveness). Those who received God’s forgiveness, but then went on to do nothing for Jesus, will not receive leadership over any cities, and will just be a citizen of one of them.
The countries will not be anything like they are today because they’re just about going to be destroyed during the Tribulation.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 9:41pmpalerider54: I will try to answer your question in a general sense, as space is limited. First, there will be no rapture. We are here until the last trumpet sounds. I say that because the Bible teaches that God is going to reunite and restore His Whole House of Israel (Ezek. 37, dry bones and 2 sticks). There is coming a battle between China/Magog, Persia/Iran, Russia, and a great horde of nations. They will come against the land of Modern Day Israel and the tribes of Israel that I have mentioned many times on this website. This will happen between the 6th and the 7th trumpet. Then God is going to gather the Lost Tribes of Israel. We will go to Israel/Jerusalem to worship The God of Israel and join with the tribe of Judah and worship God together. We will REBUILD THE TEMPLE in JERUSALEM. GOD’S GLORY will come down and dwell in this NEW TEMPLE. Micah 7 tells us that the gentile nations will come in fear to our God. We will become the People of God that God originally intended us to be.
Report Post »The land of Israel will never be able to hold all the Israelites of the world, so we will live in the lands that were given to us by our father Jacob when he blessed his 12 sons, but we will share in the inheritance and claim Israel as ours, yet our brothers of the tribe of Judah will live in the land. (Luke 15 the prodigal son). When we have become the people that God intended us to be and worship as he commanded, then the end will come. There is much to take place yet.

Report Post »I am a Catholic and Catholics do not believe in a pre-tribulation rapture. That idea began in Scotland in 1830 and picked up and developed by John Nelson Darby, founder of the Plymoth Brethren. The Lord himself said that those that hope in him and the meek would inherit the earth. Mathew 5:5. It is affirmed in Psalm 37:29, and Proverbs 2:21.
BUT we do of course believe in a second coming. We may be in the end times but no one knows. The point is to be ready at anytime for Christ’s return and to do the will of God on earth. This should be the focus.

Where are those words in the Bible???? Please read Matthew, Hebrews, Ephesians and Revelation. There is more to salvation than mere mental ascent. We will be judged according to our deeds Salvation is by Gods mercy and Grace and we must accept cooperate with Gods grace in our salvation. Jesus warned unless we are more righteous than the Pharisees we will not see eternal life. James 2:14-26) 14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.20You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 6:28amI don’t believe in the rapture either…I believe in the raptures. There are more than one manifested in scripture. Also, unless you are dispensational, “rightly dividing”, in your application in context and understanding of all scripture you will just be a lost ball in high weeds. Almost everyone at least divides the old testament from the new. But God‘s book and Jesus ministry spoke of more periods of time in God’s plan of the ages than the current church age.
ps @ snoop. Did you ever consider what exactly Abraham and Rahab did to be “justified by their works”…Abraham was about to sacrifice his own son! Rahab betrayed her own people to collude with the Isrealite spies. Not exactly the do-gooders rewards system is it, and neither was under the gospel of Christ. James says your faith should be manifest by your works. If you believe your works will get you in, best get to work, but who are you trusting? As for me, my faith is in the finished work of the shed blood of God‘s Son and God’s promise of life to all who will simply believe in him. I show my faith by not doing any works to get saved. I am saved right now. It is “everlasting life”, thank God! Any good thing that comes from my life is the result of Christ living in me right now, not my efforts to be good enough through my works. I have determined from the scriptures and my conscience that THAT is a hopeless cause. Romans 4:5.

What were Jesus instructions on the way out the door? You know those last words that we know as the Great Commission. That is our task at hand. To preach the Word to all nations and make disciples. It is being headed by Freedom Works. The Chairman is Dick Army and the President is Matt Kibe. Please be aware at the present time there is a division in the Tea Party’s ideology and agenda. Many of us are disillusioned with Matt Kibe creating a video against Romney for CNN. We question his agenda. There are many Tea Party organizations with different beliefs and goals. If we in the USA can not agree to unite under ONE Tea Party there is no way Freedom Works and Glen Beck can get a Global Tea Party to work together…. Let’s not get fooled. As Glenn repeatedly says: “I can stand with (and for) an Atheist when we agree.” Do we agree here?
As to “after yesterday,” your overall argument seems to be that since I look at the LDS doctrine and see that it strays from every type of Christianity I’ve ever been exposed to- Protestant and Catholic alike, that I‘m an evil hatemonger that’s spreading lies about your religion.
Well, let’s play that game.
Look at Obama’s policies (your LDS doctrine) and tell me he’s a Capitalist (you’re a Christian), and if you see very few similarities to the Capitalism that you have ever been exposed to and you say “he’s no Capitalist,” despite his protestations otherwise, you‘re an evil hatemonger that’s spreading lies about Obama’s policies.
By Smith’s own admission , the LDS church broke from Christianity. Period. Point blank.
Sorry you think I‘m a bigot because I’m looking at your faith and saying “that’s not Christianity,” but the fact is, very little of your religion has a basis in any type of Christianity I’m familiar with and most of your doctrine flies in the face of it.

It was essentially this: I’ve A-to-B‘d Christianity and Mormonism and basic Mormon doctrine doesn’t match basic Christian doctrine.
The following links encapsulate the largest of the differences: http://www.religionfacts.com/mormonism/comparison.htm
Keep thumbing through that site because there’s a lot of
What I learned, I learned from an informed source on Mormonism… a former Mormon. I’m guessing that qualifies him to speak to the veracity of LDS doctrine.
I know, I know. He’s a “fallen Mormon” and you’re going to say “well OF COURSE he’s speaking ill of the LDS church! He’s got an axe to grind!” Yeah- except that I‘ve checked everything he’s said against multiple other sources and he was theologically correct on every count.
Bottom line: defend yourself. That’s fine. I’m a Baptist. I’ve got people castigating me as a snake charmer, for God’s sake, but I’m a believer in the Bible and only the Bible.
As for you, my only reccomendation is that you be sure you’re in the right! If you‘re wrong there’s no such thing as “spirit prison,” there’s just weeping and gnashing of teeth right alongside Marx, Nitsche, Hitler, Stalin, and Joe the drug dealer from down the street.

Report Post »It’s always interesting to note that when Evangelicals discuss Mormon’s faith they go to sources that are overtly critical and biased to Mormon theology, always portraying Mormons in the worst possible light. Because Evangelicals view Mormons as ridiculous and heretic, they would rather rely on an ex-Mormon’s viewpoint (who feels the same way as they do), rather than rely on a practicing Mormon’s viewpoint or standard Mormon sites like LDS.org or Mormon.org, or apologist websites like FAIRLDS.org. An Evangelical will tell you that since a guy used to be a Mormon that he’s qualified to speak on the Mormon faith and whatever he says is true because the Evangelical has checked with multiple other sources (sources other than official Mormon sources or from practicing Mormons) and everything checks out. They’ll tell you that they’ve A-to-B‘d Christianity and Mormonism and basic Mormon doctrine doesn’t match basic Christian doctrine. Its awesome when you A-to-B something and your answer is exactly what you thought it would be, that’s real research. But before any of you go A-to-B-ing, an Evangelical will let you know that no one’s A-B matches up to a real smart Bible believing Evangelical. Evangelicals continue to show the 1982 anti-Mormon film The God Makers to their congregations or refer people to youtube to watch it.
GWest

Report Post »Evangelicals say that this film is a “Cartoon banned by the Mormon church” and claim that it is an actual portrayal of Mormon theology. This shows the degree of sincerity to which an Evangelical is engaged in when trying to figure out how Mormons view their own faith. When an Evangelical tells you he loves you and prays for you whether in the beginning, middle, or end of his berating and belittling your faith, in reality he just loves the sound of his own voice and the seeming intelligence behind his own theories about what and how you believe. Nowhere in any conversation does and Evangelical really attempt to get answers. If you can accept a left wing talk show host or a comedian’s ill-mannered shtick and lecture that speaks critically of what others hold sacred, an Evangelical will reinforce what you already think about Mormons. An Evangelical’s portrayal of Mormons is as ugly and hateful as anything they decry in the media. Evangelical’s scattershot and ad hominem attacks on comment boards against Mormons don’t add up to a coherent critique, and most aren’t qualified to provide one. An Evangelical aims for laughs instead of insight — and aims low, and then follows up with a provocation, thinly disguised as a sincere inquiry usually is almost as funny as it is offensive. Being snarky and smug doesn’t equate to providing insight, and many occasions Evangelicals lose sight of this in their zeal to spread the Gospel According to Evangelicals.

Report Post »Evangelicals mock things they don’t understand about a Mormon’s belief and it becomes clear that an Evangelical’s view of the Mormon faith is based on a sophomoric at best reading of it. In the end, Evangelicals suffer from the same rigidity of thought and animosity of religion that they dislike in people on the left. Evangelical’s comments about Mormons are nasty, condescending, small-minded, self-amused and ultimately self-defeating. They’re only accomplishment is to make all religion look bad — and in this political, social climate we don’t need an Evangelical’s help with that. Its only once the Evangelical gets called out on their unchristian, un neighborly behavior that they’ll say that they’re just concerned with your soul and that they’re just preaching the truth with love and hey they just want you to be sure that your right so you don’t end up alongside Marx, Nitsche, Hitler, Stalin, and Joe the drug dealer from down the street. They’ll say that they get that you don‘t like anyone telling you that you’re not a Christian when you’ve been raised to believe that you are and if someone came along and said that to them, they’d probably defend themselves too. But then they’ll start back up with the preaching truth with mocking and telling you to defend yourself. Who knows what an Evangelical actually believes, they’re so busy telling me what I believe and how stupid my beliefs are to know.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 8:26pmFatal alliance friend. Jesus and His apostles denounced all religions except the one and only “great salvation” that Jesus Himself taught. Anyone that promotes inclusion, in the context of equality between differing beliefs, will find their end to be bitter; they will “lie down in sorrow.“ Jesus forbid the persecuting of anyone outside of the ”faith once delivered”, but He also commanded all men to deny themselves and follow Him, according to His terms. There is a way that “seems right to a man”, but it always ends in eternal death. Jesus is exclusive and absolute; He doesn’t show partiality to any man, but He is partial to His own divine teaching (doctrine), and truth. His commandments are not open to various human opinions and contrivances. The apostles warned of false religions and teachers repeatedly, as leading to eternal torment. Jesus followers hear His voice and the obey Him, and “anothers voice they will not follow.” Take heed friends, the way is narrow and “few there be that find it.” How easily are those led astray who heed the words of the flatterer. All Glenn needs to do is read Matthew 5 through 7 and believe that Jesus intends His words for all men alike.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 8:55pmYou’re missing the point of this. He’s not saying all religions are equal, he wouldn‘t have his own religion if that’s what he meant. But in order for us to be free to practice our religion, we must allow others to as well. Theocracies are among the greatest of evils. Unfortunately, our lord is not among us and we are not able to even attempt to rule claiming his will. Because of this, in order to be free to follow the lord, we must allow others to be free as well. Tolerance and love will win many more people than hostility and hate ever will. Tolerance and freedom are why America is as great as it is. We could not be where we are if we were not a moral country – if we are completely stripped of that moral guidance then we will fall. We must stop the assault on our religion. In order to do that, we must stop the assault of others. Freedom is not a christian only club – it is for all. Freedom and salvation are not the same thing.

I believe on many things of moral or value in inclusion creating numbers/majority has great effect. Whether you accept Glenn or any other proclaimed Mormon to shake their hand as a brother is of no concern to me, a Bible, Jesus loving Christian with plenty of doctrinal errors of my own. I pray the LORD will see fit to let me in even with my theological errors. So, when I see this Mormon man risk so much of his life, fortune, career, fellowship at his own church (don‘t think he won’t be getting some backlash there) by being so bold for the life of the unborn, the Catholic Church, and his faith in Jesus Christ…..I will gladly shake his hand and graciously thank him for the almost daily encouragement and tremedous example he is setting of sacrificing for righteousness sake!

Amen, Brother……
its not about the religion(s)….
it’s about the RELATIONSHIP with our Creator….
All hell is getting ready to break loose around this place and people are more worried about their “institutions”….
any difference between telling the government “how dare you tell me what I can and can’t do”…
and basically telling the Lord God the same thing?
this is going to cause division in the pews….
Only the Spirit of the Lord can change man’s heart….
if you think enough, how can anyone be an “emmissary” to unify that which is by its very nature is un-unifiable?
I believe we are ALL missing the point of Obama’s hidden strategy….
the whole Obama thing is not about freedom or liberty….
its about creating a false choice for all those that have been walking in the flesh until now….
and now that the religious freedom thing is being tested by throwing it in the parishoners’ faces.
How many do you think will sincerely stand for The Lord?
or is having their birth control more important?
I see it as a way to really bring out the utter hypocrisy that most of the “organized religions” hide behind when it comes to this stuff…..
People’s understandings about a lot of things are going to be shaken rather vigorously…..
may we be in Your Will, Father….

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 9:42pmSo, from which religion now existent on Earth do you claim the “Great Salvation” may be attained. Which church do you believe Jesus founded on his rock Peter? Now prove your assertion. Catholicism claims its roots are founded on that rock. All protestant religions stem from the catholic church (if not what were they protesting) and Jesus taught in the jewish temple. As for Mormons, they also follow the teaching of Jesus.
Who is right? Who cares. It is in the division of all these followers of the one true God, where “the flatterer”, as you call him, has found the weakness in our armor. It is our job to bring people into the fold. It is not our job to find reasons to exclude fellow believers.

Please, do not denigrate any Christian faith. To do so truly denigrates the Savior Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. It is no longer about who is more right in theology. Let the Baptists; Lutherans; Anglicans; Catholics… et al be who they are and how they follow their faith. Instead pray that we can Honor and Worship the Lord God freely; for a time is coming where that may not be possible. Please pray for unity in the Lord (reference aforementioned prayer).

Young Christians (new Christians) tend to be judgemental in their new found zeal for God. You are to first be an example and grow in your faith, and when asked, share your faith. As you grow in patience and wisdom, you will find that people do not respond well to being hit over the head with Christianity. You must first start with explaining the concepts and values of Christianity. This helps you to later explain the scriptures and God’s word.

People who truly love God and abide by his commandments need to unite now so we can be that much stronger against the evil in the world that is rearing its ugly head. There are many in the world that look to the USA as hope for freedom and liberty that they do not have and desperately want. We must be the shining light on the hill for others and show them the way. We must make a stand where ever we can because freedom comes with a price and we must be willing to give our all for it. Others around the world need to understand the true american concept that made us who we are so they may apply it for themselves.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 8:38pmI agree entirely.
As a Southern Baptist, I adamantly disagree with both of your doctrines (Glenn’s more than yours), but right now, we’re all standing together on common principles- and we absolutely must meld together where principles remain common.
Remember when the 9/12 project came together, it was about aligning where you agreed more than 70% of the time. We’re there- if not in doctrine, at very least in the right to practice our beliefs.
Personally (again, I’m a Protestant), I don‘t think it’s either the right of the Church or the State to tell someone they either must or can’t use birth control. This is an individual right that neither have a say in! That said, it‘s also the Church’s God given right to run their Faith as they see fit and government has no chair at that table. They can’t even stand at it, as far as I’m concerned. Of the three, the government has the fewest rights and it must remain that way.
…and *that* is where we all agree.
