Beck: Modern Conflicts Parallel Fight Between J. Edgar Hoover and Martin Luther King

On his show Wednesday night, Glenn Beck predicted that “there will be arrests” of conservative anti-administration figures once the Justice Department goes bad, drawing parallels between conservative resistance to the administration and Martin Luther King’s struggle for civil rights. Beck also argued that the smear tactics employed by left-leaning groups against their critics paralleled the career of J. Edgar Hoover. Finally, Glenn suggested that groups like Anonymous, Occupy Wall Street and the Tides Foundation all are intimately connected with the White House and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In the 1960′s, the problem was J. Edgar Hoover. The solution was Martin Luther King,” Beck said. “The problem was, J. Edgar Hoover was eavesdropping, he was blackmailing, he was strong-arming, he was building files, he bullied his way through government, told local police exactly what to do. He worked behind closed doors – nobody knew for sure what he was doing – and he aimed for a large, oppressive government just to protect you. Got it? 1960′s. Problem.”

Beck continued, “Solution: Martin Luther King. He stood up for the little guy. He said character matters, he was deeply and profoundly religious, he built a coalition of like-minded people, he peacefully marched in the streets, he created a culture. He was out front and in the open, and he was the best of all of us.”

And finally, Glenn concluded, “This is why they’ll fail: They‘ll fail because they’re trying to ‘occupy’ both places – the problem and the solution.”

Read Hoover’s biography that came out recently. He was a very, very odd, intelligent man and, I believe, suffered from OCD. Absolutely meticulous and a momma’s boy.

All of us, including GB, need to do a better job of explaining why communism is bad.

I have friends that point to seat belt laws and clean water acts, and point out that these things were decried as socialist before they passed.

We need arguments to combat this sort of “they’ve cried wolf before” mentality.

Folks who think like this are the ones who voted for Obama, and don’t, even now, see how he’s been all that bad for the country.

If we don’t find a way to reach them, they will probably vote to re-elect him. He’s victory is still be far from assured; but, reaching these folks sooner rather than later could change a marginal conservative victory into a mandate.

Also, it is clear that Beck sees himself as the second coming of MLK. When will you Beckerheads realize that he is delusional?

What do the Bank of Canada, George Soros & Glenn Beck all have in Common?

Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney
I am sure that many of you have heard about the huge tension and perhaps it can be dubbed an all out war between George Soros and Glenn Beck, over whether or not the U.S. is headed for disaster and a financial collapse. As Canadians we have largely ignored this development or don’t realize the importance of it. Yet, on Monday January 23, 2012, with the comments made by Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney, this fight has been officially recognized by our Canadian government.

    More After the Break

In a recent interview with CTV’s Question Period the Bank of Canada Governor (BofC Gov.) stated, “the nature of the U.S recovery , it’s going to take a number of years before they get back to the U.S. that we used to know. In fact, they are not in our opinion ultimately going get back fully to the U.S. we used to know.”
Comments that were echoed on Monday by billionaire George Soros. Who is listed as an economic terrorist in many parts of the world, and is considered a hero for such economic terrorism by such anti-western and terrorist groups, as the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army.

Here is what he said when asked about the future outlook of the U.S. economy on Monday: “I am not here to cheer you up. The situation is about as serious and difficult as I’ve experienced i

I think a good way to look at the issue in a microcosm is to compare the tactics of the current administration to the mob. The reason I say looking at it within a microcosm is to get a simpler view of a similar situation…of course larger and more complicated by this vastness. The energy crisis is also a perfect microcosm of the crisis at large. On one hand the administration demonizes oil and says it has a solution in green energy. Raising the price of fossil fuels will “prove” that the “best” solution is in “green” energy. Communists and thugs have used these tactics. The issue has become more sophisticated with cultural Marxism. Still being the hero and cultivator of the problem is a tactic….as seen with the tactics of creating race rifts and proclaiming to be the “most transparent” administration yet. As thinkers often do, Glenn, we often over think the most obvious solutions….in this case simply encouraging truth, on many levels, spiritual, political, societal, etc. And most important, .hammer that particular and often tiny “occurrence of truth” truth until your opponent and all who witness it are overwhelmed by its power.

Beck probably gets his notions of Hoover from left-wing movies and his notions of King from right-wing obsession with King’s “content of their character.” He completely ignores the useful contributions made to national security as well as crime-fighting by the former, and the plagiarism, Communist associations and sexual compulsions of the latter. Both were heroic figures, both were deeply flawed. But Beck wants to make history a morality play, seldom a very productive approach.

Why pay to watch Glenn Beck when you can watch him here for free? He talks kind of slow, and temporizes to the point that his ideas are stretched really thin. But the homey look of him sitting on the couch and talking knowledgeably like the uncle you rarely see is awesome.

Yes, Hoover is made fun of – but imagine a person whose career spanned from the late 1920s into the early 1970s & how the world/country changed. It was a miracle that he did such a good job for so long, esp. thru WWII. Now silly sexual fantasies are made up about him (cross dressing) because he was SOLELY dedicated to the importance of his job.
OTOH Beck consistently overlooks the numerous/creepy sexual escapades of MLK Jr. It is maddening that he decided to call Gov. Mark Sanford oF So. Car a dirtbag because the old fool fell in love with a younger beautiful woman. If that makes him a dirtbag, what does that make MLK & his repeated near-orgies with (white) prostitutes (& alleged penchant for beating them up physically). I believe Rev. Ralph Abernathy wrote about it, but that was written off to senility. (And Coretta did forgive him for something he did!) A lot of this comes form Beck‘s friendship with MLK’s wonderful niece.

    J. Edgar Hoover was fighting domestic communists his whole career. The communists were everywhere (and there are still many of them in the State Department) just as they are everywhere today. Sure sometimes they go by other names now as then. GLENN read WITNESS by WHITTAKER CHAMBERS it might open your eyes as to what anti-communists were up against. Can you name ONE virulently anti-communist that hasn’t been completely derided by the left? The only one they failed to smear was Ronald Reagan.

Beck is SOOO wrong about J. Edgar Hoover. First, wire tapping was signed off on by Attorney General ROBERT F. KENNEDY. The Kennedy’s were total racists who only saw the civil rights movement as political expediency (and very late in the day at that!). Second, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference was infiltrated by both communists and communist money (from the Comintern). Third, the rumors about him being gay was part of a smear campaign instigated by the Comintern. There is no hard evidence that he was gay. Sure it’s weird that you never get married, but there are lots of folks like that who are not gay. Beck also doesn’t understand the truth about Joe McCarthy, if he did he would never use the phrase McCARTHYISM.

Progressive-ism has two tracks, left and right. (Communism and Fascism)
Conservatism is not on either of those tracks.
      GB is a conservative.
When he talks about communists, it’s not a look in the shadows kind of thing. He’s not trying to root them out. He’s sharing with us, their words, their actions, and their plans – all of which they publish publicly. Nothing covert, hidden, or whatever, just a battle for harts and minds.

Beck has missed the Mark on this one!

Through out history… those in Leadership Position who dwelt with the People… came into conflict… with the Leadership who governed the People. This usually was typical of the Clergy v the King/Dictator.
Now… the Radical desire to stage Street Play… where some pretend to be the Dwellers… and some pretend to be the Government… and they pretend to fight each other… while attacking Targets that they, as a Collective, despise… and while looting all in the process!
