Beck to NRA on Obama‘s ’Yes We Can’: ‘What a Bunch of Crap That Is’

In a speech to the National Rifle Association’s annual convention Saturday, Glenn Beck excoriated President Barack Obama for his 2008 campaign slogan, calling it meaningless and “a bunch of crap.”

Glenn Beck to NRA Convention Meeting on Obamas Yes We Can: What a Bunch of Crap That Is“Barack Obama‘s winning slogan was ’Yes we can.‘ That’s the dumbest damn slogan I’ve ever heard,” Beck said. “Don’t tell me what you can do. Will you do it? Will you do it? ‘Yes we can.’ What a bunch of crap that is.”

Moving to a chalk board on the stage, he wrote the words “Yes I will.”

“Yes I will,” Beck said. “Are you going to vote? ‘Yeah I could do that.’ Are you going to vote? ‘Yes I will.’”

“Will you be a man or a woman of honor?” he asked. “‘Yes I will.’ Will you seek equal justice for all? ‘Yes I will.’”

Beck also blasted Rev. Al Sharpton for his front-and-center role in recent weeks regarding the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. George Zimmerman was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the Florida teen’s death.

“I saw him this week actually patting himself on the back,” Beck said of Sharpton. ” ‘I was the first to say he’s guilty and should go to jail.‘ When did that become something we’re proud of? When did that become something we wear as a badge of honor, to say ‘I was the first to try a man in the media? I was the first to say oh, that pesky Constitution. The right to a jury trial. I was the first to say guilty before innocent.‘ That’s crazy. The world is absolutely upside-down.”

Watch clips of Beck’s speech below (the full speech follows these three shorter excerpts):

I think the slogan, “Yes We Can” was derived from the 1987 poem by Johnny Duncan called, ‘I Can”. The interesting thing about this poem is that it was the origin of the term, “African American”.
Most people think the term “African American” has been around for 100′s of years; it hasn’t. It’s only been around for 25 years.

      http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_did_the_term_African-American_originate

So this brings about another question. If the term, “African American” originated in 1987 why does BHO’s 1961 birth certificate say “African American” instead of N e g r o (the term used in 1961)?

@the-monk, Obama’s birth certificate does not have the term “African-American” anywhere on it. It does list his father’s race as “African,” which was the common term at the time for the race of a person born in Africa. See: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/birthcertificate.asp

Myself, wife, 3 sons and 3 daughter in-laws all Democrats fell for Hope and Change. I can’t believe Obama thinks we will fall for “Yes we Can.” We gave up on Obama after the Change – a whole year wasted on Health Care – sounds nobel but all those poor people go to emergency room still. My 55 year old Dr. retired and now I have to wait 2 months to see my Dr. or go to Emergency One Care. Now there is no Hope at all. We all have seen friends and loved ones affected by obamas change.

I actually had the opportunity to watch the entire speech late last night, appreciating the link to the speech in its entirety. I enjoyed this speech more than any I’ve seen Glenn give.

The significance of the “Crossing of the Delaware” painting was something new to me, but the “Spring of Nations” is something I’ve studied for a while. I’m encouraged that Glenn is going into the territory of “The Revolutions of 1848”, as they had a great bearing on both the history of Europe and the USA. I encourage anyone else to do the same. Be prepared, its a painful study and a bitter pill to swallow. I sincerely hope Glenn is able to handle what such a study will reveal.

If you‘ve ever doubted Glenn’s analysis of how Communist/Socialist factions conspire, operate, or how long their vision is – please study the “Spring of Nations”, the resulting revolutions of 1848, and Marx’s post “Civil War” essays regarding the USA – it proves our own point in history and Glenn’s current claims without exception. If you are capable of accepting how those revolutions impacted our own Nation – then you are capable of seeing both the past with clarity and the impending tribulations ahead.

Its long past due that conservatives and libertarians “get in the boat”. Most of our divisions are not worthy of their obstructive status. In the meantime, while we argue, the red flag of communism marches on unobstructed – and we continue losing the last shards of our freedoms.

In just 2 years time Obama has tripled the devaluation of the currency, weakened us militarily, depleted our respect as a world superpower, funded and trained a civilian force called the TSA under the auspices of increasing our safety and security when in fact it’s the neo SS, and made a pretty good run on usurping the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 10th Amendments, lost the respect of the Secret Service…..etc.

I thought Sweet Old Barack wanted us to buy American to help the economy. Does the contract require the company to hire local help from ACORN and SEIU? Rememmber SEIU has the contract to service voting machines in some states and it has been proven that with the right programming the machine will vote the way they want it to rather than the way the voter wants it to (look at the election of Hapless Harry Reid).

I agree and I’ll only add the perversion of our constitution began with TR and continued down the line with Wilson and FDR doing horrific damage to our republic.Fast forward to the 60′s and the counter culture with their indoctrination of college kids with communism, socialism and anarchism and mix in the revisionists teaching of U.S history and you’ve produced a generation of constitutional illiterates and outright hatred of America as founded.

Our Marxist POS president is of that perverted generation,Frank Marshall Davis was a well known communist and mentor of the budding Marxist, also Frantz Fanon an anti-colonialist was a big influence on the budding Marxist.

      @ BARBER 2,
I rarely comment on posts not directed at me, but here I find myself responding to one of your posts in the space of about a week. And again it is because your words have sparked an obscure and at best tangentially relevant memory.
You said, “Isn’t it amazing to see an election in America which is going to boil down to Marxism versus capitalism ?” This reminded of a quote by the Keynesian economist John Kenneth Galbraith. “Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it’s just the opposite.”

Young people disillusioned with American society and government are being drawn into the “guns and weed” philosophy and leaving their families. It’s much the same thing that happened with the New Left, the SDS and the Weather Underground in the 1960s of Bill Ayers and his gal.

These are young people who have “dropped out,” to use the vernacular of LSD guru Timothy Leary, but are dropping back in through the Ron Paul campaign. They have certainly become cannon fodder for the Ron Paul Revolution.

Their political activities resemble something that we used to associate with the New Left and the anti-government radicals and communists of the 1960s. They are not only destroying their lives with drugs, but embracing a political philosophy that would leave America defenseless against real enemies abroad… Murray Rothbard and Ron Pauls new LIBERTARIANISM.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that I am aware of that did not support the Patriot Act and has voted for our Constitutional freedoms. The President of World Ministries showed us coverage of the government blowing up levees to flood farmland with saltwater to render it useless..The government has been involved in huge land grabs of private property spanning tens of millions of acres and are in the process of another..we now have the Muslim Brotherhood in key places of government..The Pres of World Ministries said he does not know if we can turn this country around..but our only chance would be a Constitutionalist. I‘ll agree that most people aren’t mentally capable of handling the truth.

Marxism vs. Capitalism – we’ve been down this road much longer than the official “narrative” will allow. Teddy Roosevelt didn’t destroy the Constitution, he just continued the destruction beset by Lincoln. The “narrative” has been washed clean with revised nationalistic fanaticism – created by the communists themselves.

It doesn’t get much plainer than Karl Marx himself congratulating Lincoln on his re-election with the words, “It fell to the lot of Abraham Lincoln…to reconstruct a social world”. The Presidential reply, “the United States… derive new encouragements to persevere from the testimony of the workingmen of Europe that the national attitude is favored with their enlightened approval and earnest sympathies.“ The ”Working Men’s International” were the original communist party, headed by Marx in London.

At this point, it doesn’t really matter if you cannot bear the thought of Lincoln being the first to allow marxist inclusion in our government. Colt1860 and I happen to know the prelude above what most are able to accept. It does matter that all these things have certainly led us to the current situation – which we’d all agree is no good.

It also matters that we unfurl our respective battle flags in defense of our Constitution and its founding integrity. I really don’t care if its Saint Andrew, Gadsden, or Ol’Glory – its time we bring our best to the fore.

Mr. Beck doesn’t believe in personal responsibility, the obligation of the individual.

Whenever a fault or failing is pointed out, however minor, Mr. Beck’s response is that we (the collectivist we I point out) should move on.

Mr. Beck has obliviously skipped the making amends part of his 12 step program.

      But this is all nonsense.

The more common criticism from Mr Beck, and it is contained in the above responses, is that the President isn’t a leader and that he is a divider. That criticism is based on the fact that we are a group.

That‘s a sign of tolerance and an ability to get along in today’s society.

@ MarybethElizabeth, concerning your rather asinine statement on collectivism/individualism: So if a group of people who all consider themselves to be individuals join together in the political realm and conduct themselves in such a manor in their voting, then by your standards they are now a collective; thus, they should now drop all individually associative behavior because YOU have lumped them together into a collective group. Do have that right? So basically if you have any tendency or desire to be an “individual” person who has constitutionally protected rights against coersion and or interventions in their lives by the collective (i.e., thru government)–then they should actually realize that they are part of a collective and should follow along with any thing “your” collective forces them to, no matter how destructive it is to their liberty. Either that, or, if they want to be an individual then basically by your standards they should just drop right out of society, don’t even communicate with anyone, even friends and family. That is what they should do if they want to be one of those damned people who like to live in a free society, because they are now rendered incapable of any socially contractual endeavors.
The one thing I know for sure, is that you speak like a true dyed-in-the-wool Commie. Why’s that? Because you are doing what a good Marxist does best, that is lumping people into categorical collectives, even us “individuals.”

The fact of the matter is (this is what no one will utter), that Americans are not really willing to die for what they believe in, no, and they go to war for only money in the volunteer military, but only because they think it will not be themselves who will die. And rich Americans are REALLY not willing to die for what they believe in, and that’s why they like this volunteer military so they can get the poor to die for them while even officers do their best to stay out of harms way, and they would really like to put cameras on soldiers so officers don’t have to leave the comfort of their bases. I mean really come, Americans kill the spirit of their children in good times, surely the parents will not sacrifice their life so that their children may live. These socioeconomic groups were overrepresented among recruits while families in the highest and lowest socioeconomic groups were underrepresented. Interestingly, the percentage of recruits from high-income households has increased since 9/11 while the percentage from low-income households declined. In 2005, 22.8 percent of recruits came from the richest quintile, while only 13.7 percent came from the poorest. The only reason the Good Lord ever fled a dangerous situation was to protect the aggressor – because His Angels would have destroyed them.

Searching are you using a laptop with Windows 7? If so, you have to turn off your touch pad. I had to do this as my cursor would jump up into a sentence above, thus typing where I did not want it too. Also, there were times with a mere touch, I could totally highlight what I typed and it would disappear. Drove me crazy.

This IT moment has been brought to you by COFemale, software specialist.

Searching you can buy a laptop or desktop computer for $400. I don’t think that is expensive. I paid $579 for mine. Dell I5 6GB Ram 500GB HD. Now when I bought my other computer in 2003, I paid almost $2000; that is expensive.

Hey boys and girls vote for me if for any other reason than because I look like Woody from Toy Story, and remember that just because I’m stuffed with fluff like that doll, that I can beat Barack Obama even though we both believe in “Universal” health insurance. Just ask Buzz Light-year he’s all about Universal things.

We will pay dearly for our apathy.

I don’t think that typing angerly into our little keyboards is going to perserve our country and our freedoms.

I watched Glenn’s speech last night at the convention, and as usual,it was entertaining and informative…..just wish they would have scheduled Larry the Cable Guy to perform on another occasion, since it’s hard to concentrate on a serious subject, like the fate of this country, after enduring an hour of jokes about poop, people at Walmart and Larry’s overweight sister…..

Watched Glenn and Larry, too. Glenn was sooooo ON TARGET.

I agree that Larry would have done better to stay away from poop jokes and concentrate on what’s going on in this country. Maybe a “poopy adminitration” joke or twenty would have done wonders for the crowd and really set up Glenn’s speech which was RIGHT ON!

Sorry ole girl, but America did vote, I voted, everyone I know voted, we all voted against him. It sounds like maybe you did not vote, of so; then I’ll bet you are kicking yourself……..Oh, I get the name now. Well, we conservatives will be looking for your vote this time Grandma.
We can beat him but nothing will change, Romney is Progressive, so will his running mate, where it be Christie, or Huckabee. Both Progressive Republicans.
