Beck & Rabbi Lapin Show Why You Should Care About ‘Baal’ & Rising Secular Fundamentalism

Glenn Beck & Rabbi Daniel Lapin Discuss Baal & Secular Fundamentalism | GBTVOn Thursday evening, Glenn Beck teamed up with Rabbi Daniel Lapin to explore the rise of secular fundamentalism.

During their discussion, they tackled the elements comprising this growing phenomenon and explored how its expansion and prominence is taking form in contemporary society. Due to the importance of the subject, GBTV has made the entire, five-part interview available free-of-charge (watch it, below).

In Part I, Beck and Lapin discuss the historical nature of Baal and the vast cultural and societal changes that we’ve seen here in America over the past few decades. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of Baal, Lapin provides a very pointed definition (this quote is present in Part II of their discussion):

“Think of it as spiritual gravity. It is that which tugs our better natures downwards — to everything that is a yielding to bodily appetites, a yielding to darkness, a yielding to hopelessness and pessimism, a yielding to a sense of shortage and misery. All of these things that are so easily capable of overwhelming us as human beings as we struggle to remain encouraged and bright and filled with faith. That is the tension that exists within our hearts.”

In a world dominated by negative media messages, false idols and temptations, it is this concept of Baal — this “spiritual warfare” — that holds the potential to prevent human beings from connecting with God and from being the fulfilled individuals God would like them to be.

“The dark and depraved side of human nature is as evident today in the United States of America and in the most sophisticated corners of America — perhaps specifically there,” Lapin explained. Here’s the first part of the discussion:

Below, watch Part II, during which Lapin sets up the premise, history and the Biblical mentions of the Baal. Additionally, he further explains this gravitational force that purportedly exists within the hearts of mankind:

In Part III, Beck proclaims, “The forces of Baal are just as strong now as they were 3,000 years ago.” In this section of the interview, Lapin and Beck take on the contemporary presence of and “the terrifying, seductive power” of the Baal. They mention this spiritual force and its involvement in Occupy Wall Street, Woodstock and other moral conundrums:

The Baal’s appeal toward violence is tackled in Part IV, among other issues, as Beck and Lapin continued their discussion about the phenomenon’s contemporary impact:

“The only hope for our economy, for our military security, for our cultural viability, for a civil society — the only hope for all of these things — is a revival of fervent, committed, evangelical Christianity,” Lapin concludes in Part V:

I can’t believe people have been completely missing the point. Of course he isn‘t saying Ba’al exists. Remeber, he is Jewish, we‘re the guys who’ve been claiming for 4000 years that the world has only one Force. He is referring to a human construct.

If you prefer, think to the Id. Same idea. The id is important, and has its place, but if it rules you, we have chaos. Even following one’s ego leads to trouble.

The one thing that probably bugs you is the Jewish idea that a society that encourages people to do whatever they like in victimless ways, will end up with people hurting each other. That is why “love your neighbor as yourself” is smack in the middle of Levtitcus.

As Rabbi Lapkin demonstrated, fundamental Secularism has all the earmarks of “religion”. Further, atheists are looking at things like temples/cathedrals and “military chaplains”. I’d like to know whether any of those things are tax exempt or cost taxpayer money. Further, I think that evidence is building that Secularism IS a religion. As such, I think we should go to court when the government makes efforts to supplant other religions with its depravity/nothingness. If a Christmas tree is removed because it “offends” secularists, then “art” with excrement on a cross should be removed because it “offends” Christians. In the past, Secularist depravity has been called “Free Speech”.

But when government imposes homosexuality/abortion on Christian churches and evolution in our schools, it is truly a case of government establishing the Secularist religion WHICH IT IS PROHIBITED FROM DOING.

I’m envisioning the “utopia” atheists think would exist banning anything Judeo-Christian. The “Lord of the Flies” and the Occupy chaos are a great examples. Left to our “own human morality” (a contradiction of terms if ever one existed) the world would be an even uglier place as well as no standard could possibly exist. Who sets the standard on which morality we would follow?

CoPatriot, true individual freedom can’t exist without fairly strong shared values and morals. Decency, compassion, truthfulness, honesty, etc. can’t be legislated, yet these are critical to the healthy functioning of society. Religion, whether you believe in a Supreme Being or not, serves to keep these important values/morals before us.

What Libertarians posting here don’t get, is that true individual liberty depends upon a society that is able to support it. We are losing that with rising Secularism, and Glenn is bold to stress it at the risk of losing some of his audience with “religious talk”. I haven’t been to church in ages, but I definitely see the HUGE role religion has played in enabling our free society and strengthening our common bonds as Americans. Glenn is not off base. We are simply not used to discussing and/or understanding the dynamics here.

Progressives want a godless (religion free) “feel good” society, where there are no values or morals. This is our decline, and the precursor to the decline of individual liberty. Government will have to step in and “control” our worsening natures. Libertarians should care. Please get beyond your distaste for religion being part of the discussion because it’s relevant and Glenn sees it.

The Destroyer is the one who takes freedom from mankind. Even if you are not a believer, Jesus teaches us to desire freedom from all that would enslaves us in the world. We are on the same side here, opposing oppression. But discussions about why each of us feels this way shouldn’t upset anyone. It may in fact help you understand why Christianity is a friend to all who seek freedom.

Evangelical Christianity has a really agressive recruitment policy, and I don’t much care for that. Also I don’t agree with many of their ideas. I don’t think anyone here is promoting a theocracy under Christ. Christianity, by definition, requires that people come to Him without coercion, but only with true desire. I’m not sure what kind of harsh “recruitment tactics” you have experienced from Christians, but I will tell you that when Islam runs the state, the recruitment tactics would prevent this discussion. America is all about freedom, and we all need to keep it that way. But this thread is probably mostly for a believer, because we are likely the only ones that this particular show will speak to. But we are on the same side as far as freedom. My faith teaches us to love even those who disagree with us.

The last I knew Christianity has NO recruitment constraints whatsoever. Anyone, anywhere can come to Christ. It isn’t about what we believe or how we act….it is about a relationship with One who has done everything He can to beg us to communicate with Him. He is not a dictator and He forces noone….it is our own choices that lead us away from Peace, Truth, and Love….it is a lie to say that He only accepts some…He accepts us all just the way we are. And not matter what we believe or say…He has created us all, He forknew us all….and His plan will be honored in this world. He didn’t give up His son to see His work fall apart. He will see it through and those who love Him will be in Peace. Those who oppose Him will not.

Why is it that those who claim to athiest love to talk about freedom and can take such great pride in the freedoms we possess but they cannot see that it was because of God, and God alone, that we live in this free country and enjoy all the great freedoms we have. Opposite of that…without this same God all the freedoms we enjoy today will cease to exist.

    What is next?

Judging by what I’ve seen on television, normalizing incest is next. The subject is slowly creeping into mainstream television programming. Brothers sleeping with their sisters has been the topic of programs such as Prison Break, House, Two and a Half Men, and most recently HBO’s Game of Thrones. I was on a plane watching an episode of “Medium” when a scene depicting a father in an extremely graphic sexual situation with his 20 something daughter flashed across the screen. I’d never watched the show and there was no warning given. Thankfully, there were no children sitting around me.

Maybe you should try completing the quote for once. And how about context? Avraham explained to Pharaoh that he feared he might be killed if he said Sarah was his wife (he lied). Second, the complete second quote has him describing Sarah as his half-sister. There is, however, no mention of Terah having multiple wives so this could be Avraham lying again to avoid admitting he had lied. Thirdly, the laws on incest were given to the Israelites in the desert after accepting the covenant while Avraham entered into a covenant after he was married.

Hubal was regarded as the son of al-Lāt, Arabs considered her as one of the daughters of Allah along with Manāt and al-‘Uzzá.

Most people, even those of good intent and heart, haven’t a clue how dangerous. Socialists and Marxists have crept into all parts of our lives. They seem to be more interested in their immediate id and ego’s satisfaction. If we and they don’t wake up, it will be more than an economic collapse that will occur. Be alert to what is happening around the world. Study what Ba’al is all about. It explains a lot. I, for one, remain hopeful that our better natures can prevail.

Modern references to Molech are linked to the Bohemian Grove, a gathering of influential men in a location in southern California. Those who believe that the gatherers worship Molech point to a standard ceremony performed at the grove, called The Cremation of Care, during which a man-shaped dummy named Care is immolated before a giant stone statue of an owl. Further “evidence” of the role of prominant Americans includes various images of owls on currency, in the placement of streets in Washington DC and in the structure of some buildings.

The fact that Molech is traditionally represented as the body of a man with the head of a calf indicates that the ceremony is not related to Molech. The main link to the Canaanite god is the implication of human sacrifice, however, Molech was not the only god to receive burnt offerings of animals and humans. It is unclear how Molech became linked to the Grove’s owl and ceremonies.

The link between abortion clinics and Molech worship is stronger than the link ascribed to the Bohemian Grove because of the belief that infants were sacrificed to the god. Most abortion doctors do not “sacrifice” aborted fetuses for the purpose of worship or to appease an angry god, however, it is still sacrifice on the alter selfesness or lust . http://www.defunddc.com/molech-worship-and-bohemian-grove/

The chief feature of Moloch’s worship among the Jews seems to have been the sacrifice of children, and the usual expression for describing that sacrifice was “to pass through the fire”, a rite carried out after the victims had been put to death. The special centre of such atrocities was just outside of Jerusalem, at a place called Tophet (probably “place of abomination”), in the valley of Geennom. According to III (I) Kings, xi, 7, Solomon erected “a temple” for Moloch “on the hill over against Jerusalem”, and on this account he is at times considered as the monarch who introduced the impious cult into Israel. After the disruption, traces of Moloch worship appear in both Juda and Israel. The custom of causing one’s children to pass through the fire seems to have been general in the Northern Kingdom [IV (II) Kings, xvii, 17; Ezech. xxiii, 37], and it gradually grew in the Southern, encouraged by the royal example of Achaz (2 Kings 16:3) and Manasses [IV (II) Kings, xvi, 6] till it became prevalent in the time of the prophet Jeremias (Jerem. xxxii, 35), when King Josias suppressed the worship of Moloch and defiled Tophet [IV (II) Kings, xxiii, 13 (10)]. It is not improbable that this worship was revived under Joakim and continued until the Babylonian Captivity.

There are a lot of messages given to us through the letters to the 7 Churches. You are correct in what Jesus points out as desirable, but there is more. These are markers in time, each church representing an age. They offer a road map, so that we can see this, and find our way home. God always loved man, but knew the paths we would take before we were born. But He had a plan, and sent His Son.

He calls out to all, Rev 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Baal, by whatever name he had in various communities, always had a cohort representing fertility, the moon, “Mother Earth” and harvest, and the Earth. While Baal, at different times, represented the power and force of storms, the Sun, chaos and anger- this cohort led its followers further into spiritual enslavement of Baal through temple prostitution and giving one’s self up to the lowest human passions. Mythology around Baal and Asherah/Astarte represents false gods– but the evil forces still exist. Satan and demons still exert their force on people, whom they hate.

As Moloch, children were sacrificed in incinerators in his honor. The female goddess of choice was worshiped as she was thought to be his lover, so worshiping her through sexual sacrifice would also keep Baal on your side.

Do these forces still exist, and are they made manifest in our modern world- yes. Earth worship (Gaia), sex without boundaries (elevating self to a god), fear of the anger of the Sun god (global warming) are leading us down the same vile path that caused God to use the Israelite to cleanse Canaan. God instructed Abraham to not take the land yet: Gen 15:16 “But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites [is] not yet full.” Around the time when virgin daughters were offered to the gods as prostitutes to men, and children were being incinerated alive as offering to Baal, God sent the Israelites to claim the land.

We have returned to this, whether or not we credit Baal/Satan.

Sexual traffic continues to increase at unprecedented rates
We kill our children through abortion, to take away the burden “sin”, innocent lives are sacrificed
The god of chaos stirs nation against nation and war lord against war lord
He teaches that vengeance can be taken on others to save one’s own soul- anti-Christ

How is this generation not living this out??? On that, throw earth worship mingled with fear of the angry sun god, and discussions of lowering population and controlling the masses to coerce submission? And now, free abortions (potentially forced in the future, as in China now) to top it off.

We are living in the end times. Please pray for revival, and that truth will be recognized. God has been speaking to me about these manifestations of the ancient evils represented by false gods for some time, and we can see the Destroyer in our midst, growing in power given to him by man’s submission.

But Jesus has won this battle! One only need to open their eyes, call out to Him. He gave Himself to bring life to the dead and darkness to a dark world. How can we help others to see this? Please pray for a great awakening while there is time.

      Bless you all

Excellent insight! Thank you, Texas. We are reading the OT and were reminded of the numerous generations that re-established idols many times in the very next generation after the were purged. It is truly incredulous……until one reflects on the state of the world today. All these years later, the Bible foretells accurately the continued struggle between good and evil.

I wasn’t able to tell if the company was involved, or a single employee was involved, and if so, are they still with the company? They should be in prison. I am afraid that too many political decisions have been made for too long based on the exchange of money. If anyone was protected in government contracts from prosecution, shame on us. I’m not sure We have the answer on how this was resolved from the video. Companies have lots of employees, and are responsible for terminating relationships with employees convicted of crimes. If you have any confirmed data that this company was truly involved in sex trade (and not just single employees who were hopefully prosecuted if true), and they kept their government contract, that would be a concern to all of us. Let us know if you have any further evidence. Thanks

Almost all Christian churches these days worship Baal by name. “Baal” is an ancient Babylonian word which translates to English as “the lord”. At one point, the Jews decided that the name of Yahweh was too sacred to pronounce and substituted the name ‘Adonai“ which also means ”the lord” (Same as the Babylonian word, “Baal”).

The Bible tells us in several places not to worship the lord.
    Isaiah 42:8
‘ “I am Yahweh; that is my name!
I will not yield my glory to another
    or my praise to idols.”

      RIP CURL,

You must not be up to speed on your physics. There are some 322 known constants that have been identified so far. ALL of them must have the exact values they happen to have for human life to exist. This equates to 10 to the 322 power. The statistical chance of 0 is only 10 to the 50th power. You cite what you observe, but you show no understanding of those observations. You shouldn’t do that – it is irrational. There is yet another thing you mentioned that relates to the issue at hand: DNA. I like Dawkins and the evolutionists. I wonder, do you suppose that ANY of them have ever stopped to wonder at the complexity of the code in DNA? If we received a simple * * * – - – * * * from space, Dawkins I bet you and Dawkins would proclaim it proof of intelligent life. Yet you see the code in DNA and declare it a random accident. Do you ever stop to think that, for life to exist as it does, part of that “random accident” involves self-repair? And do you understand what that means for the THEORY of “evolution?” There is a reason that we have never seen a dog turn in to a cat. I laugh as those who deny God and claim science for their reason when science tells us that there MUST be a Creator. I hope you come to understand the necessity of wisdom to guide your knowledge. If you do, you might find you see things differently.

I’ve always felt a connection between the US and Israel. Like the children of Abraham we also had a special covenant with the Lord from the start of this nation. We were founded as a nation of God fearing, God’s law respecting people. Like ancient Israel, as long as we kept to God’s Laws and guidance we were a blessed nation. Now for the last 50 years we have been defying God and turning our backs on his laws, and driving him from our lives. Like ancient Israel we will pay for and be punished for our arrogance and defiance. Fortunately, just like Israel we will once again gain His favor when we turn aside from the worship of idols and return to respecting Him…Just sayin’

History repeating itself over and over because of LAZY people not educating heir children on what is important. In America, people with a normal life (family, house, car, etc) will cling to their stuff and ‘hope’ for better things rather than taking action. Only in the most desperate hours do most act. That is all it is, typical people. The citizens grumble everywhere, but what do they do? Nothing. You don’t sit on your butt and whine “Help us lord” because nothing will happen. Survival is for the strongest. That is true life glaring you right in the face. If you are too weak to defend your freedom and speak out and loudly against usurpers, you will fail. Actually, in Jewish tradition, Heilel Ben Shachar (Lucifer in the original Hebrew) is simply the angel of Babylon. This is what the context in the Prophets implies.

Judaism does not ascribe free will to angels. This is why he uses Ba’al (a mythical construct) instead of Satan. In Jewish tradition, Satan is sort of a DA (thus his title, “the accuser”), with entrapment privileges. He was created to give people free will, so that they can earn their reward. T oput it another way, God created this world, instead of putting us in Heaven directly, to keep us off welfare.
