Beck Slams WaPo on Romney Hairdo Piece While Remaining Silent on Kerry, Clinton and Obama’s Past

While the following narrative might sound like a joke, it is not.

Little John Lauber, a “soft-spoken new student” at the prestigious Cranbrook School in Detroit’s exclusive suburb of Bloomfield Hills, was reportedly “different” than all the other boys. In fact, so different was Lauber said to be, that he was tormented “for his nonconformity and presumed homosexuality” (and especially, for his “bleached-blond hair that draped over one eye”).

“He can’t look like that. That’s wrong. Just look at him!” one of the school’s bullies allegedly shouted before pinning the boy down and cutting his bangs.

There’s just one snag: The Lauber family came out last week claiming that not only was the portrayal of John inaccurate, they do not recall the alleged incident ever taking place. Perhaps if Horowitz had relied less on hearsay and instead taken the time to interview members of the Lauber family for his article (as one would expect a journalist to do), his work might have read less like a desperately contrived attempt at character assassination.

But while the Washington Post story could be brushed off as laughable, it points to a grave matter occurring within American press. How seriously could a media outlet the scale of the Washington Post take the vetting process if it deems a haircut that nobody can remember — including the alleged “victim’s” family — sufficient enough “dirt” to destroy the credibility of a presidential candidate? Moreover, how could a purportedly reputable news outlet do so while having failed to report on treasonous incidents that were perpetrated by at least three past Democratic candidates? In this context, the Washington Post article flies in the face of reason and logic and some might argue, is an insult to those who take the vetting process seriously.

During his Wednesday morning broadcast, Glenn Beck took a moment to point out the hypocrisy of the mainstream media in smearing Mitt Romney while whitewashing the dubious pasts of former presidential candidates Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and Barack Obama. So un-thorough was their vetting process in fact, that two of them went on to become president.

 

Staying in the home of hardline Stalinists

It was the height of the Cold War, yet the man some call a draft dodger for having used student deferments and other loopholes to avoid military service, spent a week in the home of Bedrich and Jirina Kopold, members of the Czech Communist Party Central Committee.

According to Ken Blackwell, the Kopolds were not even “liberal” reform-minded backers of ousted leader Anton Dubek, father of the “Prague Spring” of 1968 who attempted to bring about “Communism with a human face.”

Blackwell adds that as the Soviet tanks rolled through Prague, Dubek wound up in chains in Moscow.

There, a drunken Brezhnev sneered and jeered at Dubek and some of his fellow chained Communist brothers because they had soiled themselves. This wasn’t the Kopold team, however. Bedrich and Jirina were the hard-line Stalinists who demanded the Soviet tanks come in and crush these first shoots of freedom sprouting up in Wenceslas Square.

Yet, five years after Romney was a senior in high school, a Rhodes Scholar who would go on to become President of the United States spent a week in the home of a couple who literally demanded that Soviet tanks roll into Prague and over whatever glimmer of freedom the Czech people had left.

Meantime, back in Paris…

After returning from Vietnam to pursue a Congressional career, the member of the New England elite testified in 1971 before Sen. J. William Fulbright’s Foreign Relations Committee to display his new “dovish” sensibilities and solidify himself as the Democratic candidate to beat. As Blackwell noted, at the time of the hearing, Kerry wore half his uniform and all of his medals in what was clearly a calculated political move. What could be a greater affront to military than debasing its very uniform, for which decades of tradition and symbolism are interwoven? Perhaps delivering a testimony against fellow soldiers that spawned the term “baby killers”…and Kerry did that too.

On second thought, however, there could be yet another affront perpetrated by John Kerry that is on par or if not worse than defiling the uniform and accusing U.S. soldiers of violating the Geneva Convention: Meeting with members of the Vietcong while in Paris in 1970 (again, five years after a heinous Romney allegedly played coiffeur in the schoolyard). Blackwell notes that the Post did cover this story,”but only on page A8, and only in the context of reporting on a Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ad attacking Kerry.”

Yes, in 1970, John and Julia Kerry traveled to Paris where John met with Madam Win Thi Binh, the Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam (PRG) — the political wing of the Vietcong — and with representatives of Hanoi who were in Paris for the peace talks.

After his liaison with enemy (a.k.a. “treason”), that same year Kerry joined Vietnam Veterans Against the War where he became an outspoken critic of his fellow soldiers and delivered speeches alongside famed anti-war activist, Jane Fonda.

All of this transpired while American POWs were tortured (a violation of the Geneva Convention, by the way) by the very Communists Kerry chose to engage in Paris. He remained silent on the atrocities committed by the Vietcong and so has, in large part, the mainstream press.

 

Cavorting with Marxists circa Evil Empire-days

Years after Mitt Romney allegedly gave an unsolicited haircut to a boy, in April of 1983 (the same year President Ronald Reagan gave his now infamous “Evil Empire” speech) then-Columbia student Barack Obama attended the Socialist Scholars Conference in New York City. The fact is well documented Obama even admitted as much in his own memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”

The conference was meant to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Marx’s death and indeed,Glenn Beck Slams Washington Post Article on Mitt Romney Haircut, Asks Where Coverage for Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Barack Obama Is celebrate the father of modern Communism’s life and accomplishments. Obama‘s attendance likely doesn’t come as a shock, however, given the long line of far-left mentors he has had throughout his life. The Blaze documented the president’s role models in a two part special report detailing the fictional elements of Obama’s life.

Blackwell pointed out that for a good deal of time after World War II the actions and associations of Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Barack Obama would prevent them from obtaining security clearance, let alone a seat in the Oval Office.

Yet the first thing the mainstream media should have done with Kerry, Clinton, and Obama, according to Beck, was hold an open and honest “adult conversation” about the past lives of these presidential contenders. This would have given each of these candidates a chance to either own or disavow their past deeds and perhaps even come out the stronger for it. This is meant to be one of core principles of true journalism — that by shining a light on people and events (without engaging a double standard) — the very best of society can rise to the top where the less desirable elements can be exposed for who and what they are.

When “journalists” instead chose to cherry-pick their coverage with clear political goals, the institution loses credibility. Perhaps this point is best illustrated in the Washington Post’s 5,000-plus word profile on the unproven schoolyard antics of a teenage boy.

    Just look what they did to Herman Cain! Not a single shred of evidence. Where are his accusers today? They have disappeared. Their disappearance happened immediately after he ended his campaign.

    The media….mission accomplished. Now on to Romney. They will fabricate stories and drag his name through the mud without research or facts to back it up. They’ll keep throwing stuff against the wall….the sheeple will remember the accusations but will forget that there were no facts associated with accusations.

    Lies and accusations are all that is needed to take down an opposing candidate…no proof is required

Several individuals who were part of Mitt’s pose seem to remember the incident clearly and have stated they regret being a part of it.

    At least we have some idea of where Romney was and what he was doing at 17, but we have no idea for sure where Barry was and what he was doing except for a few lies told in the books written by his terrorist friend. We do however know what Obama is doing now which is what counts the most and that is trying to destroy our great country. Romney seems to be our only hope right now of saving what we have left of the American deam so we need to look past possible highschool pranks and take a look at the man he has become. He is presidential, patriotic and willing to give up a nice quiet family life to help restore our nation, unlike Obama that wants to tear down the great land we call a republic. If we want this republic to keep standing we need to take notice what the politicians have become and not what they once were.

    The media cannot be trusted anymore. And more people are wising up, seeing how the “old” media is losing an audience in record numbers. Newspapers, once champions of truth, have been closing left and right for distorting the truth. Cable news and networks like CNN and MSNBC have been losing viewers year after year for refusing to vet liberal politicians and making up fake stories about conservatives. The media cannot be trusted.

    Glenn left out that from 1964 to 1966 John Kerry played himself using the the make believe name Lurch in the Adam’s Family. It was afterward, I believe, when he single handed won the war in Viet Nam on his horse Triger dressed up in a special sequined uniform of his own making with that phoney chest toupe (glued on chest hair) to feign masculinity. General Lurch (John Kerry) did receive a purple heart when he suffered from the heartbreak of sherroids (much worse than hemorrroids) which happened on one of his many raides into North Vietnam through ‘projection’ (using a remote control and watching old Frank Sinatra war films back at the base). After the war Lurch became an entrepreneur starting his own very successful business (using his special talents, to be revealed in an up coming ‘how to’ autobiography, he basically married rich widows, then swindled his way to high finance) making him millions

    Where to start….

    Even Howard Kurtz has stated that the accuracy of the Wapo story is not in doubt. None of the witnesses to the story have come out to say it did not happen. The family members weren’t there so why would they be better able to recount the events than Mr. Romney’s classmates. The Post didn’t set out to find a bulling story it happened in course of their investigations.

    Mr. Beck’s parallel to Obama, and Clinton is purely based on guilt by association. Last time I checked Americans are free to associate with whomever they want. If you want to hang out with far left individuals that‘s your right it’s not a crime. If you actually get elected President, the American people obviously have made their judgment on whether they think you’re a socialist, communist or far left radical, they’re not stupid. We‘ll most of them aren’t. I can’t really include those who believe Mr. Beck is actually making a smart argument.

    I graduated from High School in 1967 and joined the Marine Corps the same year. I actually served honorably in Vietnam, unlike Kerry, and upon my return I was greeted with the venom from the radical left. When I flew out of LAX, to go home on leave, there were all these filthy hippies screaming at us, calling us baby killers, etc. If I had had the same weaponry from a couple days earlier there would have been carnage in the airport. Wake up America, the same people that were demonstrating in the streets in the 60‘s and 70’s advocating communism, are the same ones that are now the Democratic party. Young people, check your history, you are being lied to! Find someone who served in Vietnam and ask them about these radicals like Jane Fonda and John Kerry. At our VFW lodge we have Jane Fonda stickers in our urinals!

      @justangry, Yes, but what were the reasons for deferments? I have never had a problem with those had legitimate reason for deferment. That’s life. I was 18 yrs old and decided to join the Marine Corps. But, Kerry, seemed to join military in order to enhance his leftist agenda.

      Hey man, thanks for your service! I think the men and women from the Vietnam War are a special breed of individuals that so many in this country owe a big apology to. I truly don’t think there are many people that would now understand what the liberal press and liberal politicians did to try and demoralize our military during that time frame. Americans and our allies gave their lives for what they were called into duty to do! However, I think those who turned against those soldiers committed no less than treason, and should never have been able to hold any political office. We would not be in the mess we are in now!     You mean like Dick Cheney and the majority of Neo-Cons in W.’s White House (W. served in the Texas Air Guard, when he bothered to show up).

    Kerry before going the Paris, did serve in Vietnam, and Romney? He avoided the war and fled to Paris, the benfits of being a fortunate son (something Kerry could have taken advantage of to avoid service in Nam).

    They even go to great lengths to cover up the sorted history of John Kerry (Democrat Presidential Candidate) who left his Combat Command perfectly healthy in 90 days of duty to go to 3 unauthorized meetings with the North Vietnamese, then to go in front of Congress to call all Vietnam soldiers “Baby Killers”. This why the North Vietnamese Communists have a Kerry shrine in their War Museum honoring the aide he gave them in defeating America.

    Growing up on the 50‘s and 60’s I do not recall any emphasis on gays back then (called homosexual before the word gay was hijacked). I do however recall a distinct fervor of anti communist sentiment in this country. And if you want to know why just do the research and find out how many millions were killed at the hands of communist leaders.

    When we have future presidents who own a history of poor decisions in their adult life, more emphasis on adult, the public must be informed so they can make educated decisions on who should run this country.
