Beck: Small Biz Fighting Obama Admin Is Like ‘Going 15 Rounds With Ivan Drago’

Six months ago, members of the “99%” pitched their first tent in Zuccotti Park with plans to squat there indefinitely. Glenn Beck opened his Monday evening program by marking the half-year anniversary of the Occupy movement and to discussing the downward spiral being perpetuated on many other fronts of American life.

“Happy anniversary, Occupy,” Glenn quipped. “You rock…and, rape.”

As Occupy‘s purported concerns are America’s economy and the country’s unemployment rate, Glenn delved into some harsh realities on these very topics.

“With the full backing of the media,“ Glenn cautioned that the Obama administration has been diligently trying to convince Americans the recession is over by spinning a ”fairytale“ citing ”better than expected jobs numbers“ and ”upbeat sales at retailers“ as proof that ”happy days are here again.”

Yet contrary to what the administration would have American’s believe, nearly half polled in a recent survey reveal that Americans are not confident the economy will recover.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see we have severe shortages in food, supplies, gas and jobs,” Glenn said pointedly.

Making matters worse:

Glenn reminded that while Japan is poised to lower its corporate tax rate, next month America will in fact raise its tax rate, effectively garnering the U.S. the title of: Highest corporate tax in world.

“Nothing attracts new business and business expansion like taking more money from them,” Glenn blazed. And more than any other country, to boot.

Despite this grim road ahead, small business has been responsible for 65% of new jobs over the past 17 years.

And now, delivering the coup de grace to business owners, New York is raising the minimum wage by $1.25.

Reciting statistics which reveal that for 32 straight months — “the longest since the Great Depression” — 23.8% of Americans aged 16-19 are unemployed, Glenn rhetorically asked if raising the minimum wage will “help or hurt” the youth group?

One must also consider how longtime employees of a local 7-11 will feel when the new teenage hire is earning as much as they are from day one on the job.

“The state simply doesn’t understand…or more likely, doesn’t care, that companies have to pay bills,” Glenn remarked.

Companies can’t just force customers to spend more, nor can they get federal bailouts at the drop of a hat. Companies “can go belly up,” he warned.

“But when there are cheap political points to be scored, none of that matters.”

Turning back to food shortages, Glenn cautioned that when farms go out of business, Americans will have less food and thus will become dependent on foreign food sources, just like they already are on foreign oil.

He also made the astute observation that farmers, along with small business owners and oil refineries, “feel like they’ve just gone 15 rounds with Ivan Drago” when going toe to toe with the Obama administration.

And speaking of refineries:

According to Glenn, regulations over the last few decades have led to new refineries becoming “essentially non-existent.”

And if you live in the Northeast, according to Glenn, “get ready for some serious pain at the pump” as the region’s largest refinery, Sunoco, is closing after losing $1 million a day for three years running. That’s approximately $1 billion is losses.

Or, as Glenn pointed out, 335,000 barrels of oil off the market.

But what makes matters so dismal is that Sunoco‘s fail comes on the heels of the Conoco Phillips’ shut-down.

“Those two refineries alone accounted for 20% of all gasoline produced in the Northeast,” Glenn reminded.

And the decreased output likely exacerbates an already abysmal forecast for gas prices, which have jumped 6% in February alone.

But here is the glaring question for Glenn: “Why are refineries losing money?”

The administration’s role:

“Keep in mind the administration‘s defense for high gas prices is that it’s completely out of the president’s control,” Glenn quipped.

So, by the administration’s logic, nothing Obama does can make the gas prices go down. “So which is it?” Glen pressed. “Can you effect it [gas prices] or not?”

Other points to consider:

Refineries are faced with limited access to inexpensive oil because there are “not enough pipelines” in the U.S. Yet Obama “jammed government health care down America’s throat“ but ”wasn’t able to get the Keystone pipeline done.”

“But haven’t you heard? This president is ‘pro-drilling,’” mocked Glenn.

Rising tensions in the middle east and between Western nations and Iran are making matters worse, but Glenn pointed out key moves the president made that have only intensified an already negative situation. Obama:

  • Praised Mohamed Bouazizi — a man who set himself ablaze and started a revolution in the streets while comparing himself to Rosa Parks
  • Encouraged citizens of other middle east nations to start similar “revolutions”
  • Warred with Libya by “funding and aiding rebels” who eventually assassinated their president, before savagely dragging drug through the streets while cheering
  • The administration is set to release $1.5 billion in aid to Egypt

It might be worth noting that Egypt has officially declared Israel — with whom it once shared a cold peace — its Public Enemy No.1.

Jumping topics, Glenn revealed the Obama administration, “quietly and without reason,“ announced the proposal of an executive ordered titled ”National Defense Resources Preparedness.“ The order renews and updates an order from 1950 that gives the president some ”pretty eye-popping powers,” according to Glenn.

Among them are:

  • The power to take control of all civil energy supplies (including oil and gas)
  • Control over civil transportation
  • Re-enabling the draft

Glenn recoiled at the fact that the president can even exercise the order in peacetime and believes the only logical explanation for the administration’s push is in its “anticipation of an imminent disruption” to the flow of oil to America.

He cautioned that Iran is already threatening to shut down the Straights of Hormuz pending an Israeli attack and that up to 40% of the world’s oil travels through those very straights.

Glenn ceded that while the updated order has many of the same powers as it did previously, America has never before had a president or administration “so hell bent on destroying” what we believe America to be and to “reshaping it so closely to what their hearts desire.”

Yet too many brain dead Americans think this Obama is wonderful. Ever day they get the daily propaganda from the mainstream liberal media who provide cover for the most incompetent president since Jimmy Carter. We can only hope the election turns out as it did when Carter ran for re-election.

Yeah, um anyone else ever wonder if Obama’s absence with regard to leadership is because he always needs to see what the women of the White House think first. Make no mistake Valarie Jarrett and Michelle Obama run this country. Makes perfect sense to me. The man in the White House has mommy (and daddy for that matter) issues and in order to keep the women around he tries always to please them. idk, just sayin’

You’re damn right “Scared.” I didn’t elect a skirt to the White House, let alone a highly educated one with opinions. As soon as my wife became too lippy I had to cut her loose. So what if she took the 3,500 ft2 Dutch Colonial house and stopped giving me an allowance. I’d rather live in a beat-up airstream trailer and collect disability than let some successful woman with the body of a college coed but tell me what to do.

The small business I work for has been struggling to stay in business the entire Obama presidency. During that time we have gotten worse, not better. Before that we were booming. We continue to shrink and reduce our work force just to stay viable. None of our employees have seen pay increases in years yet we have to deal with rising prices everyday. So for us the economy is NOT improving. The stuff Glenn points out scares the heck out of me but it needs to be said and said and said. I cant for the life of me think why ANYONE would vote for Pres Obama again. Other than maybe those that are waiting for more of his “Obama money”. Heaven help us.

I just went too my home town of Flint Michigan from Texas. Last time there was 2010. Now its 10 times worse. The two big malls are like ghost town. Half the food court is gone. Only half the stores and that just the mall. So me and my son went to my friends house that works at truck and bus GMC plant.
He just laugh and said thing are worse now then before. No new trucks in the holding and loading lot. He said they only build enough to be shipped. That there not enough orders to run more then one shift. Also crime is crazy murder every night I was there. Gun shots heard all night and my brother lives in the good part.
Now Flint Michigan has about 150,000 people. Now if you put Dallas Houston Austin all together it won’t match Flint Michigan crime rate. Now I would say all the Texas city I listed would be around 6 to 8 million. Only ???? that is needed here is are you better today then yesterday. Ronald Reagan smart man and a ???? to ask any one who supports what we have today.

What happens when the peon makes the same wage as a union worker think they will be content with that ? That’s why unions support the increase in the minimum wage.
And why is Barry still cashing his Government paycheck doesn’t he believe in fair share and redistribution of the wealth. Kinda Hypocritical to not return or donate it to a charity.

I have been saying this for nearly a year now that there would be no general election in 2012. We will be in martial law before then. Every month new legislation or new executive order are making that statement more and more a reality. Now with OWS getting geared up for Round 2 and in addition you have all of the brainwashed kiddies getting out of the Indoctrination Centers for the summer. Guess what they will be doing this summer. Blood will be spilled in the streets this spring and summer.

As Obamacare takes effect, you will see more and more businesses closing or their employees let go. Small businesses can’t financially keep their businesses open and give their employees Obamacare! Watch small businesses in your are over the next few months to see the result of this disasterous law which hopefully will send Obama packing up and back in Chicago where he belongs–he never should have been elected, but that blame lies at the feet of McCain and Palin! Pray for our small businesses all over the country!

Sorry to bust your bubble folks, but there have been no laws passed during the Obama administration raising taxes on corporations. Besides corporations don’t pay those rates anyway. Some pay none, such Newscorp, owner of FOX. I think the average actual taxes paid by corporations is about half that – a results of their lobbying efforts for exemptions.

rick santorum advocates for big government-

“Republicans, I think to our credit have sort of morphed away from the Goldwater idea that the government just needs to be smaller, it needs to do less, it needs to be doing nothing except what its core functions are, to a party by and large that says look, we need to restructure the way we do programs or the way the government functions to actually create the kind of incentives or create the kind of help and programs that give that authority… I mean power to solve these problems to folks closer to people or to the family or to the individual themselves.”

santorum on his big government beliefs-

“I suspect some will dismiss my ideas as just an extended version of ‘compassionate conservatism.’ Some will reject what I have said as a kind of ‘big government conservatism.’ Some will say that what I’ve tried to argue isn’t conservatism at all. But I believe what I’ve been presenting is the genuine conservatism our Founders envisioned. One that fosters the opportunity for all Americans to live as we are called to live, in selfless families that contribute to the general welfare, the common good.”
