It’s time for the GOP presidential race to come to a close, Glenn Beck told Fox News‘ Bill O’Reilly

“I think it’s time that it ends,“ Beck said during an interview broadcast Friday on ”The O’Reilly Factor.“ ”I’m a supporter of Rick Santorum but, you know, I think we’re at the end here, or very near the end. If you do the math, it’s darn near mathematically impossible here — unless we go all the way down to the wire — for anybody but Romney to take it. We have got to come together and start to put together a strategy not only for the White House but also for the Senate and for the House.

O’Reilly, seeming surprised by Beck’s pro-Republican tone, asked when he became such a “party guy.”

“I couldn’t care less about the Republicans, I do care that Barack Obama is not the president of the United States,” Beck said. Reaching for an abacus off screen, he held it up and joked: “It could be this, Bill, it could be right here. It could be the abacus. Vote abacus party!”

Both questioned what more voters really need to hear from the candidates before making up their minds. On the topic of candidates bowing out, O’Reilly noted that Texas Rep. Ron Paul “doesn’t have anything else to do so why would he drop out?”

Of what Paul would do in office, O’Reilly said, “he’s said it 55 times, how many more times do we need to hear it?”

“It doesn’t hurt to say the truth!” Beck said, laughing.

“He wants to legalize everything, he wants to have gold and whatever he wants,” O’Reilly dismissed. “How many more times do we have to hear that Beck?”

“I think when it comes to the Fed and the financial system you can’t say it enough,” Beck replied.

Concluding on the economy and the importance of character, Beck reiterated his belief that there is a deep, global financial crash coming, and “we have to know that the person that is coming into office will say the same things to our face that he’ll say as he turns around.”

    Just can’t get into RINO Romney! The man has changed his mind more times than he’s changed his magic underware!! About the only thing I could see him doing well at is acting in a Viagra commercial. He just looks the part!

    ALL my political donations this fall will go toward Conservative candidates that are in CLOSE Senate races with Democraps!       I agree that the canidates must stop attacking eachother. It seems the only people attacking Obama are Beck and Hannity. Hannity is totally taking the Breitbart way, which is good. The canidates need to get on board and focus on our lying POTUS. I just wish that Mitt would team up with 1 of the others and let the ticket sell itself.

      Glenn is stating reality. He’s being captain obvious. Morris did the math and came to the same conclusion. At this point we are only shooting ourselves in the foot. We are wasting precious time and even more precious resources trying to best Romney. In 2008 Romney knew when to bow out and he spent his energy and funds supporting the nominee (too bad it was McCain). If Pro Gingrich, Paul, and Santorum-ites are frustrated their guy did not make it, fine, spend a couple of days grieving, and then come to acceptance. If you can’t stomach supporting Romney then focus your attention on the house and Senate. Romney knew when enough was enough in 2008. Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul need to read from the same script and get behind our nominee. The fact that they are not is revelatory as to their characters and their ability to see the forest for the trees.

      Romney has won way more delegates and states than Mccain did at this point. The math is plan as day its all but impossible for Rick to win the delegates. Its time to unite and face the music. We will not take the senate with Rick or Newt at the top of the ticket and we have at least a 50-50 shot at the whitehouse with Romney.

      Thing is Romney knows that he could never get elected as a “Liberal Moderate” to the left of Kennedy and almost every other Democrat. But that is who Romney is so what to do.

      That Glenn will not investigate Romney boggles my mind though. I thought Beck was going to go for Mitt because Mitt is a Mormon but to see it sort of blows my mind. It really makes me wonder what kind of koolaid Beck drinks. I mean how can the fact that Mitt claims to be a good Mormon make Beck just ignore Mitts very progressive record? Beck do you also secretly love Henry Reid too?

      Investigate Mitt please. You will find Mitt is almost just like Obama. Except Mitt has no muslim background. They do both come from Saul Alinsky though. At least their progressive politics do.

      I am not interested in voting for a liberal. We have one of those in the WH and see how well that is working. Romney stands up for conservative values or so he says. However, he is a liberal with all the liberal positions. Look at his record of MA. Global warming, pro-choice, Romneycare, individual mandates, force religious hospitals to provide abortion drugs and likes to tax “A Lot”. Think long and hard about the GOP nominee. I won’t vote for Romney.

Every topic here made Romney’s opponents look bad, even though in other ways this website is fair and balanced, even left leaning. Glenn Beck is now supporting a liberal, the author of Obamacare and someone who has two positions on ever issue. On the other hand he is rich. I do thank Glenn for standing strong for Mitt Romney both positions he’s taking on every issue!

      If you agree that God has the best plan, pray to know what He would have you do, then do it. Math or no, He is still a God of miracles, but even He does not over ride agency. Seek to clear your conscience so He can speak clearly to you. That’s my plan anyway. Lots of you make sense and your logic is internally sound. I have reasoned your thoughts through and have come to a conclusion I think is right, but still will take it to God and ask for confirmation or redirection. I love this country and believe that as long as a few of us believe in it’s divine purpose and are willing to study it out in our minds with a pure intent, with faith in God, he will move us and others to the right decision.

      I keep hearing this over and over that Evangelicals are bigots. Nothing could be further from the truth.

      Take South Carolinas vote. Romney got 26 percent of the evangelicals surveyed. Gingrich, second overall, was the choice of 23 percent of evangelicals, to 20 percent for Santorum, 12 percent for the Old Fart.

      In Nevada Romney got 95% to 98% of the Mormon vote.

      So who is the REAL BIGOTS in this election? Hands down and 100% it is the Mormons who are the real bigots.

      Don’t let the facts and the truth get in the way of your real hatred for Evangelicals.

      You know, I’ve been upset with Glenn since December when he deemed it necessary not to merely oppose Newt Gingrich but to destroy him entirely. His reasons were that Newt admired FDR, Teddy Roosevelt and also had a kind word once for the guy at SCIU; that made Newt a dangerous progressive. I didn‘t buy that then and still don’t. Folks, there‘s not a person on earth who doesn’t possess at least one good quality at some point in their life and vice versa. I liked Teddy Roosevelt too; still unsure where I am with him. I haven‘t devoted time to research the matter and there’s too much going on today to worry about whether or not Teddy was the first progressive. He’s safely dead; we have enough running around alive to worry about. Sorry Glenn, I’ve been following Newt since way before I knew who the hell you were and waited a long time for him to throw his hat in the ring. Is he perfect? No! Are you? Were you, before converting to LDS? By your reasoning, we’re understanding and forgiving about certain people some of the time. You were totally unfair in your assessment and subsequent dismissal of Newt. I dismiss your opinion in favor of mine after long careful consideration. I think for myself, partly thanks to you.       If it makes you feel any better, I knew most of them were either horrible people, stupid people, or both, BEFORE they started running “negative attack ads” against each other, so the damage isn’t as bad as you think–some of it was simply status quo, given the historical TRUTH (readily available to anyone willing to do a little actual research) of some of these candidates character flaws.

      Why should negative ads stop. They work, and as long as they are truthful I dont care. Fact is most people dont do research on their candidates. They either listen to a talking head, vote as they always have, or vote with who their friends and family are voting for. Negative ads bring to light the fact that most politicians are crap. They say one thing and do another. They flip flop to whatever view they need to get votes. They will vote for things for money. Its better for that information to be out and find out they candidate you supported is garbage.     It’s time for the in-fighting to end and the Obama-fighting to begin. As long as the campaign continues, we’ll have 4 candidates running against Obama, instead of only one.

    Somewhere along the line (Romney) the negative campaigning began (in Iowa) and got everyone‘s focus on anything but Obama’s failings. If ever there should be a candidate drop out of the race, it’s Romney. He’s stirred up more negativity than all the other 3 combined.

    Glenn I have to agree with you in part; the matter has to end with the assault on each other, the candidate who will emerge in the end needs to begin focusing on the battle against Obama and the near certainty of his winning right now.

    I fully expect the Democrats and Radical Progressives to do all they can to cheat, lie and steal the election this Nov. Failing this, we will have him declare some kind of emergency or just seize the power for himself.

Romney is the Republican John Kerry – easily forgettable, not particularly likeable.       Glenn has been consistent throughout. We stand on our principles, but when the math no longer works it is time to move ahead. Romney has been the presumptive candidate for years, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone when he actually clinches it. Glenn’s point has been that it is not a done deal, and that now is (has been) our chance to choose our best candidate, that we shouldn‘t roll over for the big name guy if he doesn’t embody our principles. But again, once the math no longer works out, we have to get on with defeating Obama.

      More specifically, Glenn is not telling you to vote for Romney if you support Santorum. That would be different.

Anyone who says ‘it is over’ really just wants to deny half of the country the opportunity to vote on the next republican president and disrespects the rules that have been set forth.

    I would have never expected a trick like this from beck. For starters, there is a 50/50 chance romney will clinch the required number of delegates.       santorum’s path to a plurality of the delegates becomes daunting when you consider that most of the remaining contests allocate delegates proportionately. moreover, romney will win at least 5 of the 8 winner take all primaries- california, new jersey, utah, maryland, and dc. the other 3 are wisconsin, puerto rico, and delaware.

      Santorum+Gingrich does not necessarily mean > Mitt.
      In some cases yes, but in half the states that Mitt won—-NO.
      Furthermore, you have no idea how many Newt supporters would actually switch to Mitt and not Rick. You automatically assume 100% of them would go to Rick and that’s just not true.
      And also, the states with open primaries, like SC and OH… the dems were voting for the other guys because they know Mitt can beat Obama.

      As for Rick/Newt combined not being enough to beat Mitt….

      I’m perfectly content to let this drag on all the way to the convention, so Mitt can win it there. But I do admit it would be nicer for the Republican bank accounts (needed to fight Obama/Soros’ $1.2 BILLION DOLLARS) if people would rally around the eventual nominee sooner rather than later. But, whether that happens today, or in August, or in November – people will still have to choose between Obama / Biden or ROMNEY / RUBIO 2012. I’m guessing all this huffy talk from the faithful followers of the 3 losers will amount to a whole lot of nothing, as they vote for MITT.

      I agree Paul has lit the candle and his movement is the future. But the movement is not ready yet and the time is now Romney’s. Keep pushing the ideas and work towards the future, and help keep Romney on a straight path.

      Obama care off course; Mitt said and I believe him that he would do everything in his power as POTUS to do away with Obama care and Most of All be a strong supporter of the 10th amendment. Whereas states not the Federal Gov. can deal with there own States Health care etc. issues. And he promised not to lie to the American people. There are many more dissimilarities with Obama to numinous to list. But if you are just looking for an argument you are on the wrong path.

    As sick as it makes me, Romney is going to get the nomination. From now until election day, we need to focus on taking the Senate away from that creep Reid — with his freak show of pure evil –, and pushing Romney to move right.

    We don’t have a choice. The Tea Party won big in 2010, and relaxed … the fire that raged died down a bit and we got RINO Romney. Call it a lesson learned, Romney will be better than Obama at least.

    I agree with Beck. As bad as I didn’t want Romney as the nominee, it‘s looking like he’s going to be. All you PaulBots out there need to realize that the main goal is to defeat Obama so he can’t stack the Supreme Court and the Judiciary with leftist judges. The main focus HAS to be to get rid of Obama and win the Senate. Anything else is secondary and, if we don’t stick together behind the main goal of defeating Obama, we will all surely lose.

      Martinez, it’s pretty obvious that Ron Paul is NOT going to win the nomination, no matter how much you or I wish he would. While I may agree with you in principle, the simple fact is it’s not going to happen. So what’s left is to rally behind whomever is the nominee and defeat Obama. I don’t particularly like Romney either, but at least he’s far better than helping Obama win another term. ABO!!

      The name calling will cause us Paul supporters to revolt…So STFU with the Paulbot name calling or have 4 more years with Obama as your President…BTW Dr Paul has solid delegates that will NEVER defect in an open convention. They will stay by his side no matter how many ballots are taken. So…I think you had better be nice to us Paul supporters.
      I know many of them that are more than willing to support Romney. Very few seem to want to go third party…even Dr Paul is very reluctant to do so. But keep up the idiotic put downs of our candidate. You will need us in the end…
      The one thing about us Paul supporters…we have a spine. We stand for the Constitution…you do NOT. You have the right to spew your BS. You also have the right to experience the results of putting down the Paul supporters like you do. Keep it up…them you can wave bye bye to our support.

    Agree totally with Beck. The party is so fractured not so sure it can be brought together to beat obama. We all know this election is totally different and we are up against the biggest, strongest circle of corruption surrounding a president like we have never seen before.       We are divided. Ron Paul supporters will not go with the flow and follow another McCain. The GOP candidate cannot win without Ron Paul supporters. Ron Paul is the only candidate that offers different views than Obama. What changed from Clinton to Bush to Obama? Did the wars end? NO. Did the spending stop? NO. Did the debt go down? NO. Were freedoms lost restored? NO.
