Beck Tears Apart Elizabeth Warren Ad Calling on U.S. to Be More Like China

By now most are familiar with Elizabeth Warren, the far-left Massachusetts U.S. Senate candidate who is merely 1/32 Cherokee yet touted her “minority” status to gain a Harvard professorship, is back at it again. This time, the controversial Warren, who is slated to speak at the Democratic National Convention in September, has a new plan for America: Be more like China.
On Tuesday evening’s program, Glenn Beck lampooned the leftist for her recent campaign ad positing that China invests 9 percent of its GDP in infrastructure whereas America only invests 2.4 percent. Thus, according to Warren, America pales in comparison.
“Why aren’t we rebuilding America?” Warren says in the ad. “Our competitors are putting people to work, building a future. China invests 9 percent of its GDP in infrastructure America? We’re at just 2.4 percent.”
“We can do better,” Warren adds. “We can build a foundation for a strong new economy and get people in Massachusetts to work right now.”
Below is the ad for reference:
Beck swiftly discredited Warren’s argument, citing the sleeping giant’s human rights abuses, abhorrent infant mortality rate, lower than average adult life expectancy and its $6,700 a year average salary statistic. He also reminded the audience that China is the worldwide leader in doling out death sentences for non-violent crimes among its other undesirable elements.
Beck breaks down Warren’s argument below in a segment dedicated to comparing the U.S. with the communist dictatorship:

The Fed Gov‘t let’s call her Tina makes $28,000 / year in income (tax revenue) Tina spends $41,000 / year on her expenses (expenditures) and is carrying $180,000 in credit card debt. Since we can’t pay anywhere near all our bills on our income, we must borrow from ourselves and China. We can’t go bankrupt, but we can form a union and go communist. We can’t spend ourselves into prosperity without going over a fiscal cliff. So our choice is what?

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 5:04pmJZS, you miss the point entirely. She says in the little 30 sec clip that China spends 9% on infrastructure and we spend 2.4% and because China spends more, we should spend more. It‘s the idea that if everyone is jumping off of a bridge doesn’t mean you should do it too. Posted on August 1, 2012 at 8:49pmthewatcher93, you’re totally wrong, but I’ll get to that.
I only hear Glenn Beck from clips like this, but this is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. He’s well tuned to his audience obviously. The first thing he says is that Warren is head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She’s not. First sentence, first factual error. The next thing he says is that Warren is “1/76 Native American.” Now, since 76 isn’t a power of 2, that’s impossible (maybe he meant 1/72?). Two statements, two factual errors. And why does the lede say 1/32, which is actually possible? Now, nobody has ever said Beck was fond of facts or had a grade school understanding of math – I sure haven’t! – but when his first two statements you make are demonstrably false, that’s pretty bad.
But it does show one thing! Blazers are suckers to believe stuff he says.
Now, to thewatcher93. You’re confused. Warren was saying that we, as a country, should invest in roads and bridges which everyone would agrees are falling apart, not to mention the jobs created to fix roads and bridges. Beck doesn’t talk about “roads and bridges” in his response, because he can’t. So he compares that idea, of improving American roads and bridges, instead to irrelevancies.
So let’s look at one: infant mortality rate, which is indeed higher in China that the US. The US is 34 in the world on that score, just below Cuba. I guess he missed that little fact.

Master.Debater says, “[Warren] thinks China is a great example, because deep down she agrees with the tenets of Communism.”
Oh wait, I get it. “Master.Debater” Sorry to be so slow. Okay I’ll respond anyway because I had more to say.
Funny that Beck, in comparing the US would choose infant mortality as a measure of comparing our country and China. It is true that the infant mortality rate is lower than China, but at the same time the ranks worse in the world on infant mortality rates than every other Westernized democracy in the world: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_infant_mortality_rate
He also compares the number of people who are executed in the US to China. Again, China executes a whole lot more people. But the US is right up there at the top of countries in the world who execute people because most Democracies, as well as other countries have stopped doing that. Another bad example.
I love this country. But the fact is other countries are upgrading their infrastructure while we are not and in the long run that’s bad for our country. Republicans are doing all are doing all they can to defund public education, while other countries are investing in it. They are investing in their future.
Bad example Glenn. Beside to get to M-Debaters point

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 10:17pmI don’t normally make multiple post but will in this case. In this country the Republicans are busy defending education, lowering teachers salaries, eliminating programs that give the poor a hand up in education, making it harder for the average citizen a college education. Public education is being demonized – the teacher of our children are all communists! – college education is demonized and, after all, why should our government pay to help a poor person get an education? That’s never been the Republican opinion but it is now.
For you sports fans, I’ll give you an example. Why is it that the US was never, until recently, been worth a dang at international soccer, among other sports? Because we’re genetically inferior at soccer? No, obviously not. It’s because so few people were encouraged to play soccer in this country. How many potential US soccer stars never even had a chance to kick a soccer ball? When the emphasis changed, the US became more competitive.
But we are quickly trying to eliminate US children from the pool of people from whom the best and brightest might rise to the top by eliminating programs that might those people rise to the top, all because of the idea that public education is bad.
Other countries are doing the opposite. They are increasing the pool of people who might be our next superstars in technology.
With the Republican agenda, the US is going to lose our lead in progress, as we have in health care.

Now, in a sense, the USA was like China is today. Most people in today’s China are lower class and very few are upper class. The middle class is almost non-existant. The Intellectuals on the other hand would form an empowerment committee to insure the working group had the requisite diversity, issue a press release, analyze the project to death, form a planning committee, seek outside input, call for an environmental impact assessment, do a feasibility study, request additional funding (because they’ve gone over budget before they ever left the office) and then hold public hearings.they would wring their hands and vacillate until the money ran out and the project would have to be scrubbed. I know I’ll be there one day, too, but since you’re already there, tell me, what’s it like? Do you use Viagra? Do you have grey pubes? Do you wake up with a new ache every day? Are you counting the days until you can get Social Security? Do you feel out of touch with us kids and our music today? Tell me, EDGEJR, what’s it like to be irrelevant?

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 2:17pmAren’t we already heading that way? We’ve strengthened our capability to stifle dissent, authorized state propaganda, eliminated our rights to privacy, and they can just snatch us up and make us disappear. Sounds like FN China to me. Of course GB is rubbing elbows with some of the people that made this all happen, but yeah let’s target one little communist girl.

No need to answer any questions just reference something related that sounds bad. The angry mob will follow and will certainly never consider the intellectual side of the argument.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 2:32pmyou dont get it either, China puts in more into infrastructure, bceause of their economic plans, including putting vast amounts of money into infrascture (even though they have over 54,000,000 less miles of paved roads) the peoples average salary is $6,700 a year, or $3.22 an hour.
Do you want to make $3.22 an hour? Because letting government become more like China will help that happen. Now that $3.22 an hour might actually be $10 an hour but based on inflation that will happen 10 will = 3

Her ancestor was on the Trail of Tears all right, but he was the one holding the gun.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 2:09pmAnd this is classic GB or Rush. Rather than actually consider or address the relevant point. The striking difference in the investment in infrastructure he references human rights abuses, which of course Elizabeth Warren would be more concerned about than both GB or Rush. The point is an economic policy question and one we are quickly falling behind on. And for all the free market, privatization pundits out there, take a look at the for profit schools, for profit highway, for profit Medicare pilot programs, etc. to see what is traded off for Marketing, lobbying and profit.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 2:36pmIf you liberals are such wonderful caring beings, why does every thing you touch end up with the poor being poorer, and the rich richer?
Report Post »HKS
Posted on August 1, 2012 at 2:54pmThat “we care about the poor” routine is just that, a routine, their politicians they care about themselves. Poor people don’t donate money to them, so who do you think they love. It’s all about the money and the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer, always has always will. But they are good at making poor folks think their important.

Hmmm, sounds like obama, pulling in millions and giving nothing back, even his word about what he’ll do. No wonder our country is broke, he doesn’t know how to be conservative………….hahahaha, get it? Conservative.
