Beck to Donate Speaking Fees From Anchorage Event With Palin

Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are appearing together at an event this Saturday in Anchorage. The long-scheduled event has drawn great interest for many reasons. The personalities involved. The date (the ninth anniversary of 9/11). And of more recent focus, the ticket prices.

The Associated Press story on Thursday night says this:

Tickets range from $73.75 to $225. Therin Ferrin, with a private contractor that operates the city’s convention centers, says all but 800 of 4,500 tickets had been sold.

Numerous Beck critics have seized the opportunity to denounce the event and Beck’s participation therein.  The AP sought comment from Beck’s Mercury Radio Arts:

Representatives say Glenn Beck will donate his speaking fee from his upcoming appearance with Sarah Palin in Anchorage.

Christopher Balfe, president of Beck’s media company, says the fee from Saturday‘s event at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center will go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The organization provides scholarships and services to families of military members.

Some will say that Beck is making the move to donate his speaking fee as a way of diluting criticism.  But the full statement from Beck’s representative suggests otherwise:

Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event.

For more on the event see my earlier post here.

It is safe to say that to his critics Glenn Beck can’t do anything right. Good for Glenn and his family for the example of charity and sacrifice for others who paid the highest price.” We need more like him!!

on the liberal sites they’re all over the prices of the tickets, but no mention that Glenn is donatring the money to SOWF. Tell you what folks…if you can be sure to give back to our military folks even if it’s a simple thank you. I highly encourage anyone who can afford this event to attend. i’ve commited myself at $25 a month for SOWF. i challenge and encourage matches, doubles, triple it…attend the event if possible. God bless our troops God bless America.

Since Ed Schultz thinks he is in competition with Glenn Beck do you think he will have anything to donate to any worthwhile charity after his 10/2 “lovefest?” I’ll be surprised, no shocked, if Schultz donates a nickel to anybody other than himself. It will be interesting to watch.

The intensity of the irrational, rabid attacks from the left is the single greatest greatest indicator of how much a conservative scares them. Based on their attacks on Palin and Beck, those on the left have needed to change their diapers for quite some time.

It really burns me that the left can have all their events and pocket all the profits…yet that’s okay. When was the last time they ever donated any of their proceeds to anything but themselves or to their own interests. Ummm like NEVER. Yet the minute anyone on our side would take even the smallest amount or get paid for their time it’s considered a crime by the lefties. I am just so tired of this double standard stuff. Then when we do donate to a cause, it’s always written up by the main stream media, with underlying tones of “Is this really where the money is going?” Hate it, just hate it!!

They simply don’t understand the concepts of “profit,“ ”loss,“ ”capitalisim,” and the free market. They (apparently) believe that profit isn;t an incentive to the one profiting, they instead view it as a punishment of those that choose (in a free market) to consume the goods offered. I think the real reason is they have no experience actually making a profit, and they don’t know anyone that has.

This is a sick society that the Progressives have instituted against the founding fathers and our founding documents. Stacking the SCOTUS with lesbians and Gays ensures the favorable treatment of the crimes against nature that make it to their benches. DOA for all of them.
Socialist believe in only the elite among the ruling group can own land, slaves, and money/gold. Recently the Government of Obummer has required the registration of all gold transactions with the federal government and have basically put the 2d amendment at risk by causing the registration of not only weapons of defense but also of the bullets for the same. What next oh Dictator. Watch the State Run Media Conglomerate under GE banner and you will see the kissing up of the State Run Media. To get an answer you’d have to define what “good causes” are – they might consider MoveOn.org, Center for American Progress, etc to be “good causes”, you might have a different definition. ;^)

This upsets me. If Glenn wants to keep the money or if he chooses to give it away, whose business is it but his own? Glenn Beck has been using a lot of his own money to fund a lot of projects that have revealed a lot to those of us who care to listen. He and Sarah Palin have risked much in the hope that America will care about its future again. When the libs start giving up their speaking fees, then this will not bother me quite as much. But until then, they all need to sew a button on their lips and utilize it!

I wouldn‘t care if he wasn’t donating his fees;they’re his fees after all. I’m glad that he is, but two points to consider:
    1. When did it become a bad or immoral thing to make money in this country? I’m am so sick of the left pointing at those who make a profit as somehow evil. Newsflash – this is a FREE MARKET Economy and the majority of us want it to stay that way.
    2. It takes treasure to wage a battle. In my opinion, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are putting everything on the line to try to save our country from going a direction they think is negative. I and thousands of others agree with them. You need money to mount an effective battle and a lot of it. If they make a fortune doing it, hooray! I am happy for them. Each of us can do the same in this great country, if that’s what we really desire, that’s what makes this country AWESOME!

Context DOES count. I recently (this week) heard Ed Schultz smugly play that sound bite when he was bashing beck about this event and charging money lol. Basically lining the fact that GLenn is having this Money-Making extravanganza in Alaska on 9/11 when he says things like THAT about the victims. If you hear the more of the sound bit you hear him say he animosity is toward like 10 victims. The clip I heard was a 1:59 clip on Youtube that was posted by someone trying to bash him. So I missed even more context on it. But even THATcontext shows you how much trouble people go through smear him :) What I find hilarious HILARIOUS is that I can actually debunk Beck better than people who come to me all the time to tell me he is a lying bigot. That’s because out of respect for Glenn beck, I always keep a skeptic’s eye on him. I consistently question him with BOLDNESS.

Most people use the “Emperor’s New Clothes” approach to Glenn Beck. If you cannot see the clothes, it means you are unfit for your post and INCOMPETENT!!!! Instead it’s “If you cannot see that he is lying, you MUST BE A MORON/Racist/Bigot/[insert insult here]“.

But Becklies, at least you quoted him. Next lesson, Context doesn’t matter IF your audience is uneducated and too lazy to research for themselves. Sorry but the MSNBC audience doesn’t paruse these forums much ;) Nothing in life is free, not even information. The price you pay for free information (information someone else researched and spoon-fed you) is that it may very well be mis-information that eventually catches up with you. Ignorance is bliss only because there is a baloon payment we call a reality check that will inevitable level the reality you built whose foundation was the sand of that mis information.

With regard to the Michael Moore quote: I have not HEARD the quote myself, but I could totally hear him saying that. But when I take that puzzle piece and add it to the puzzle that is Glenn Beck, it’s either:

A dramatic exaggeration of his anger with the Marxist Michael Moore

A true proclomation of hate from which he has since repented as he has not articulated such things in the time I have been an avid viewer/listener of his. He actually denounces those kinds of feelings these days and only uses such languange in the spirit of exaggeration/ sarcasm.

By the time we are done with you, you may actually be a valid voice of reason that can oppose Glenn Beck and his views because the rest of the world is failing miserably as they cannot seem to grasp that insults and half-truthes are not the artillery needed to go against Beck. THAT or you will be standing with us, praising God at our next rally whenever that may be! Which, by the way, you are welcome to stand with me whether or not you agree/like Beck, God, ourviews or [anythign else you may find reprehensible about us].

I heard the audio. BUT it is absolutely out of context. :) Context does matter and what Glenn was saying – and the context I found, as I mentioned in an earlier post, was from a 1:59 clip on Youtube that was trying to bash him as well. Even in that context, he specifically indicates it is a select group of no more than 10 he was reffering to. He even states that he is not talking about all the victims of 9/11 inthe same clip I heard.

…. One Must be fluent in “Sarcasm” to actually HEAR what Glenn Beck says, and understand what he means

I do not care what anyone says. Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are decent people. Good citizens. Care deeply about our country and our troops. If they say they are going to do something, they do it.
God Bless them and all at the event. God keep the 9/11 families, our troops and heroes like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin who have risen to the fore since that dark and sad day, September 11,2001.
We will never forget that loss on our soil, no matter we did not lose a loved one. Those who did are our family of country and their loss is our loss.
Beyond that, we will commemorate this day far and wide. Lucky are those who will attend with Glenn and Sarah in Alaska. God Bless America and long may she reign. ( we could do with a few new leaders after the embarassment many of ours turned out to be over the Koran burning issue in Fla and the ongoing saga of lies from that Imam in NY who is trying to pull the wool over everybody’s eyes about the Cordoba Initiative. WE know what he is up to and we back the 9/11 families, just like the majority of Americans. Those leaders of ours who ran for cover over this better grow a pair or get out of the way for NEW leaders) The sooner the better.

We do know what he is up to, it is funny and sad that the prez still agrees to it’s building. Sad day in America

Amen to your remarks. Sarah and Glenn are doing what God has called them to do. I love this country and want to see honor along with faith, hope, and charity come into the hearts of all people. Those on the left seriously do not know what they are doing. They have said “NO” to the truth for so long they have been given over to believe the lie. We must remember though that God is still in command and always has been. There are those who have set themselves up to be gods thinking that they will have their way but they are fooled…The Father’s will is always done!

Even if Beck DIDNT donate the money, what’s the criticism about? Is he not allowed to make money?
The critics are absurd. They act like if you make good money at one thing (TV, radio–whatever) you’re not allowed to continually make money elsewhere. If people want to pay $75-$200 to go see Glenn or Sarah…. who is to complain? I don’t get it. Is this a capitalist country? I guess the media has gone socialist.

I know it won’t happen but I would be fine with a Palin/Beck ticket in 2012.

What a CALCULATED weasel move on Obama’s part to hold a press conference on Sept. 10th-knowing that tomorrow Sept. 11th all of the news will be focused on the Sept. 11th memorials. Obama is such a calculating and offensive JERK and is taking this country to hell. He makes me want to become a Jihadist on him!!!!!!!!!!

We enjoyed listening to Glenn, David B and the Judge in Salt Lake City, well worth the price of our ticket and was glued to my set the full seven hours. We closed in an amazing prayer. Best of the best, finally someone telling us the truth. I am tired of my prez making me cry every time he speaks, he talks down to each and everyone of us. Go Glenn & Sarah! God bless you both.

Can the man make a buck? Or does he have enough bucks? In these times anyone who can make a buck better make a buck before there aren’t any bucks left to make. Just saying.

It’s part of the progressive, socialist narrative that to make money is somehow evil and suspect. Nothing wrong with making money. I expect to be paid for my work. The better my work, the more I should get paid. And I think I should (gasp) get to keep it!

Ah well I guess I will eventually figure out how this thing works. I was reading RECENT news and one of those next stories came up the side…I assumed it was something that was recent, even more recent than the story I was reading, not something 4 months old;/ Note to self….check dates.
