Posted on February 28, 2011 at 10:43pmBroker…C’mon. Regardless of the economy, morals must come first. Obama has lied, deceived and surrounds himself with those who do not favor our America. I won’t waste your time, but the campaign trail was riddled with lies that only became apparent after his oath. Whether a dem or a rep, this country needs a leader for not only economics, but honesty, integrity and most of all…Character. Obama is not that man.

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 10:27pmIn large part, W. Edwards Deming brought the concept of quality to Japanese business. They learned the lesson better than US businesses and transformed “Made in Japan” into a label that meant a quality product. Detroit couldn‘t compete with Japan’s dedication to making quality products.

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 10:26pmDetroit destroyed not by a natural disaster but by “man made” disaster that is liberal politics, social decay and CORRUPTION. Coleman Young, Kwame, and city council tri-fecta of “terror”. I feel so sorry for the children of Detroit. Lots of people are trying very hard to improve the city but until the old guard is removed en mass, nothing will change.
Report Post »DAGNY
Posted on February 28, 2011 at 10:20pmI lived near Detroit for many years. The entire city council is/was completely corrupt. Always treating themselves to luxury on the tax payers dimes. Hookers and junkies on every corner. It has been greedily eating itself for decades. And don’t forget the “Obama stash” woman was from Detroit. Many can’t even read but they always seems to know when “Obama stash” is being handed out.
I used to to feel sorry for them; now I blame them for all being so greedy and lazy. Not a good combo. They should bulldoze the entire city and plant corn. At least it will be good for something.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 9:48pmI was born and raised in Detroit; lived there for 57 years. I hated to leave, but three years ago I had to move to Omaha because I wanted to stay employed. Glenn didn’t have to go all the way to Japan to see a sharp economic contrast between cities. He could just look at the difference between East Dearborn and Detroit. Drive east on Warren through Dearborn and you’ll see businesses everywhere. Every little shop neatly painted and thriving. Most shops are Arabic owned; they came to America with a dream – the American Dream and they are working to make it happen for themselves and their children. Further east on Warren you cross into Detroit; nothing but boarded up buildings and broken glass. The difference is caused by three things: 1. Taxes are a little lower in Dearborn. 2. You can buy insurance in Dearborn. 3. When you call the police in Dearborn they actually come. But the big difference is that in Detroit the people think that they are owed the American Dream; in Dearborn they are willing to work for it.

I don’t usually address you because i do not think you are a troll like many others i have seen here. I think you are wrong about the man. To suggest he prays for the decline of America for personal gain. That is a very personal jab that i think is a bit over the line. If you hate the man that much then i assure you i trust him just as much as you disdain him. Why would you keep our company here? Is it your aim to simply attack our opinions. becks facts are all backed up by the videos and the hard copy he presents. the only argument you have in that case is your personal interpretation of those facts and figures. You assign your opinion as the higher value before you enter the argument just like the guy that said the other day that he didn’t need to have intelligent debate because he thought his opponent was not intelligent. Is that your stance? Have you really decided that you have the right to declare your opinion equal to an edict from on high? Do you really think that an attitude like that is fully free of arrogance. Sorry broker, that halo of almighty validity of opinion is simply that, a bloated sense of self worth. Argue a point like an equal or take your need to agitate to huffpo

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 9:58pmI think it’s a bit crude to read that writing on the wall so loudly. I think reading between those lines might be a better way. I am sorry but i don’t really see the color or race as the issue. Those numbers do not lie but i think that it is very invalid to assume that those figures are simply because of race. Social factors and motivations are far greater than any racial factor if that is real at all. One flirts perilously close to racial bias to assume that race is the major factor. I’m form alabama and the only racial attack i was ever involved with was a white man removing two teeth because i had a black friend. i come from a town where the Dairy Queen still has two windows. (These days it’s order and pickup). I was denied a job at the local factory because people thought i was gay. I know plenty about bias so you can climb the steps of my mountain if you need to know what it’s really like. Please judge men by the content of their character. If you do otherwise you are less of a man.

None of them ever questioned my faith because theirs is different. So here we have a comparison between two men. One is faithful and good and does not attack another s faith and another man that finds joy in doing so. I give you the example of one man having far more worth to society than the other.. How dare you sir. You are truly a child who finds entertainment in the ridicule of others. The reason yo0u do this is because of a low self image. You attack those that others find more valid than yourself in an attempt to degrade them so that you might feel better about yourself. Posted on February 28, 2011 at 10:46pmDarmok and Jalad at Tanagra – good post. I’ve been to Japan, and may company has a plant there. The culture is different, one that support collective effort toward a common cause rather than individual achievement.
I’m not an expert but the US auto industry began to fail when gas prices rose. What’s more, Japanese automobiles (and other products) were of better quality and retained their value longer. That wasn’t a failure of government, that was a failure of industry to embrace quality and durability, and who instead embraced the idea that Americans were always going to be able to buy a new car every two years and that gas prices wouldn‘t hit anyone’s pocket books in a noticeable way. The US won WWII, but subsequently they lost the capitalistic battle of car sales.
The current administration rescued the automobile industry in the US, and now they are back in the black. Despite all the Blaze nonsense, the US still has an automobile industry and all the associated jobs, and jobs of vendors to that industry, and jobs to those vendors and so on.
Beck is off track. The US automobile industry had been gambling for years, tens of years, on low gas prices and a low quality product (compared to the Japanese) before they collapsed during the Bush administration.

Report Post »True, they are more of a collective, but in the 3 years I lived there, I did see that they kept everything clean, they did put a lot into social type infrastructure, they really enforced obeying laws, and stressed a bond in the community. One thing I believe differs is their unions do not have near the power we have allowed in this country, and the employees had a strong sense of pride in everything they did. I am not saying Japan doesn’t have their problems, look at what happened in the late 90′s when people were laid off, there were near riots.
But along the same lines, they don’t put up with nonsense, every year in Okinawa, they have massive protests against the US Bases there, the protestors come, shout for about an hour, then break up and go home, always picking up their trash. If anyone gets out of line, bang, they have no problem sending them to jail. And if you go to jail, it’s not a picknik, we had one guy in our squadron that spent 2 weeks there, he did not have a good time. (they also did not and would not speak English, you had to hire an interpretor)
Bottom line, you want to live there, you adapt, if not, the WILL show you the door. Our country better start looking at that, with all these protestors, all these people that want theirs and everyone else be damned, we are on a fast track to becoming Greece, Eastern Europe, or heaven forbid, France. Although france does allow Nuclear Power.
We need to become the US we once were, but allowed those who hate this country to try and erase.

In 1984, I bought a Nissan Sentra. It seemed like I never had to fill up the gas tank,,,,as I was getting 45 miles to the gallon and ran strong. I say again, 1984!!! Then Nissan stopped selling the car (don’t know why) for a few years. They came back again with the Sentra, maybe 4/5 years later. It was now getting 10mpg less. The 2010 models still only get 30/35 mph.

Posted on March 1, 2011 at 2:24pmhmmm,i wonder how long it will take the radio stations in Detroit to drop beck!! i see that he was dropped in madison! now how many does that make it? keep going beck, pretty soon the only radio station that will carry your little show will be somewhere in Idaho.I also saw that our friends up north will not allow fox news or a lot of the loonie right to be broadcast there, because and i quote:”a licenser may not broadcast….any false or misleading news.” so they said fox is a no-no!! because they lie!! too bad we still don’t have the same law here.

Beck doesn’t have any Detroit stations. I can pick him up from work in the western Detroit suburbs but the station comes out of Ann Arbor. I can’t get the signal at home in Dearborn Heights much less in Detroit. Too bad about Madison losing him.
Detroit really does suck. I gave up on it after the residents re-elected gangsta mayor Kwame. I would love to leave the area but I’m trapped by obligations to the mortgage company because my house is worth less than a third of what I owe on it.
