Beck TV: Why Is Glenn ‘Wary’ of Using Google?

They’re an amazingly successful, private corporation with deep government ties, but should we be wary of Google?
Partial transcript via Mediate:
“I’m really not sure that I want my search engine involved in government overthrows, good or bad. What I want from a search engine is good search results. This is not the issue. I’m not afraid that Google is reading my email, or tapping your phone lines, or stealing Grandma’s recipes. That kind of paranoia is reserved for the Left during the Bush administration with Microsoft. What I’m starting to look at is Google and Google as a whole.
…
I’m just not sure, as I look into Google, that I want to use their products anymore unless I have to. And some of their products I think I have to. I’m not leading any boycott. I hate boycotts. You do with your time, your money, and your information what you want. For me, personally, I’m not feeling real comfortable about the current direction of Google the more I find out.”

It just seems odd that you would open your pie hole and say that Jesus said we must give up what we have to those who don’t have. Study the Bible a little and you will see that is not the way to heaven. I won’t tell you the location within the Bible, so that, maybe, you will study the entire book and learn how it is that we end up (or should I say, begin) with the Lord.

Posted on February 16, 2011 at 10:15pmLong ago I learned who the board of directors were at Google. Al Gore was on the board I heard. If one does a little Content Analysis of Google’s actions they would surmise that something fishy has been going on there. Google has POSITIONED itself to be better than our own CIA and has organized to be the best at Propaganda and electronic the spook business. They have files on just about everyone on Earth and they can make or break anyone who is on the net. I learned this back in my newspaper days when stumbled on various hidden infiltrators. I suggest we have much to fear from Google, and if we ever broke up a company due to their insertion of themselves into just about everything, they are the one to do just that. The Republicans would do well to have a special committee to look into this operation and I would be glad to serve on that staff. I know, it will never happen.

Yesterday, at the end of his monologue, (20 minutes into the show) he stated “back in a minute.” He actually returned in 3 minutes and 47 seconds. Posted on February 17, 2011 at 1:48amMy point is that every person decides for themselves what is reasonable or not.
Therefor just because some group of cheerleaders starts yelling “troll” doesn’t make anybody a troll.

But, we are on to them and we will defeat them. They run on automatic. We can weed through their garbage.
Report Post »Islesfordian
Posted on February 17, 2011 at 7:17amSinista, in case you didn’t get it, I was being ironic. I don’t consider you a troll, though at times you can act like you aren’t interested in reasoned discourse. Though that could be related to your fanaticism about the Fed.
I agree with you and Ron Paul that the Fed is a problem and we should get rid of it. I just don’t think it is the immediate problem, and I certainly don’t think it is a problem you can run a winning campaign on because you will expend all your energy just trying to explain to the people why it is a problem. Winning campaigns focus on what people actually care about. Once elected a President can then expend his energy educated the people.
Report Post »Sinista Mace
Posted on February 17, 2011 at 9:40amYou still missed the point.
You aren’t the arbiter of reasoned discourse.
You haven’t put forth any argument about my “fanaticism” (I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of the FED) , you just throw words around to make it sound like anybody who wants “reasonable discourse” about our finances and the Federal Reserve’s overarching connection to our finances, is some “fanatic”, or “crazy”, or a Ron Paul “loon” (lunatic).
Those weak, dodging deflections are indicative of deliberate attempt to marginalize anybody who wants to know what the FED is doing with our money.
In case you haven’t noticed, we’re 14 trillion+ in debt.
We’re running 1.65 trillion dollar deficits.
Countries of the world are discussing backing out of the dollar as a reserve currency.
And you say it isn’t an immediate problem?
Americans don’t think its an immediate problem?
You’re living in the state of Denial.
This isn’t rocket science.
The Federal Reserve is an unconstutional parasite. Isn’t even a part of our government.
Can you tell me what branch it is under? Legislative, executive, or judicial?
Americans aren’t stupid. We care about the debt, deficits, deficit spending, and the Fed.
That’s why Ron Paul won CPAC.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 12:19amOMG Glenn – honey you need some help. Let’s see you have liberals, Communist, Code Pink, supported by George Soros working with the unions and Islamic Extremist to cause violent demonstrations one by one through the Middle East demanding freedom and democracy, then they will move to Europe (where the countries are already democracies) and then to the United States. These violent demonstrations will all bring about the Global Caliphate which ushers in the 12th Imam. Now while all of this is happening, Soros and Obama are going to bring our money system down so that inflation will spiral out of control and we will not have money or food or jobs. Because of the riots that will happen here, we will come under martial law and be put into FEMA reeducation camps to get all our inoculations and our children will be shipped out to schools to learn about the New World Order. The internet will be killed. So, we will have the New World Order and the Global Caliphate – my question is how will these two organization decide who will be the ultimate control over our earth.
Do you see Glenn how foolish this looks when you write it all down – there are just too many dots to connect and you have tried to connect all of them in one giant conspiracy theory – with too many dots. Code Pink with Islamic Extremist?
Have you ever heard of Occam’s razor? “The simplest explanation is usually the right one” It goes on to say that the fewer dots needed to connect a theory – that theory is more correct. So, I see that to mean that your theory has so many dots to connect that it could not possible be true. It is anything but simple so it can’t possibly be the right one.
What worries me now is do you really believe all of this? Are you crazy, are do you have the dots connected correctly and I am the one who will be surprised.
And now, Google in bed with the government? That is just too much Glenn just too much.
But I forgot – your cult on this website believe that I am misguided! http://wp.me/pYLB7-DF.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 12:52pmA friend emailed me a link to some liberal website carrying a portion of video on this making Glenn Beck look like a solid conspiracy theorist and nutcase. I think my friend was just pointing out the bit about Google, and he knows I am a fan of the Glenn Beck Show (radio)–I don’t get cable. Here’s my reply.
“What is the context? What was he saying before this video clip and how did it fit into his entire dialogue?
And what would you use instead? Bing = Microsoft (gave their “code” to the Chinese)? Yahoo! (not I trust them either although I use my Yahoo! email as my primary email–as in this email account)? Who do you trust? Do you just cut yourself off from the internet and internet search engines? Live in isolation afraid of everyone and everything?
Google executives are human. Glenn Beck is human. His staff for his television and radio programs are human. I am human, so not even I will see or understand everything. And what I do understand could be flawed and/or totally wrong.
So why is Google being “kicked” out countries? Suspicion of spying? Yes, but perhaps not as a shill for the US. As well as, freedom of speech. There may be other reasons. These are just the two I already knew about and have followed a little.
Suspicion of spying for some (they did this here in America too, but that news probably got buried somewhere in the media). And I am sure the list goes on. Now if their executives have bought into some of the tenets of socialism, it might explain why some countries are tossing them out for suspicion of spying, because under the tenets of socialism their is no such thing as privacy and individual rights. It might explain why they gathered all that public information (they are accused of recording wireless information–your home wireless router information with their street view cars as well as collecting data using remote aircraft for their aerial views) with apparently no concern to privacy laws. In short, depending on some nations privacy laws they are in violation.
Freedom of speech for others. Google’s conflict with others is over freedom of information. Some of it follows the above street car issue, showing a lack of respect for privacy and individual rights, however they are thorough in their extreme here and other countries such as China have been a thorn with them over Freedom of Speech, as in Google pushes their efforts to control the information that the masses have access to. So although Google does have issues, some countries actually want Google “out” because with Google comes in free market and free speech principles and all sorts of supporting materials to encourage this concept. To get back into China, China and Google had to hash out an agreement, compromise, on freedom of speech.”
And then I found an article just later that day among the news I follow for IT that helped illustrate that everything has context and even Google‘s issues aren’t all just because of any conspiracy. So I gave my friend another response backing up my previous.
“I mentioned that Google has problems with many governments because they tend to trample on some of their laws? Laws restricting freedom of speech or information? Accusations of spying?
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/02/15/google-earth-reveals-lost-tombs-saudi-arabian-desert/
If you consider that in this story they mention that Saudi Arabia restricts aerial photography, then perhaps you could understand that Google Earth as powerful tool for the archeologists also is a thorn in the side of the Saudi government. So what we see as a powerful tool, instead could be seen as spying and/or breach of their laws and customs.”
Now that I have seen these videos on the Blaze, now I have more context for what I first saw. The picture of what Glenn Beck was saying makes a little more sense. However, unless the first video I saw was clever editing from this footage, it wasn’t the same video. I think they had taken a clip from another day and there were hints that the bit on Google was really just a piece of another puzzle being shared, but since they cut out all the rest and focused solely on the Google bit I really could not form any opinion on what Glenn Beck had been saying because I had no context.
Report Post »DanB
Posted on February 17, 2011 at 1:24pmAnd there is Google’s struggle with copyright laws…. Google has tried to create online libraries and got into some issues scanning in books that were protected by copyright.
So, yes, Google definitely has issues. Is Microsoft better? Well, both Microsoft and Apple have worked on occasion within copyright laws at least. So there seems to be more respect for property rights, though Microsoft regularly pushes laws on monopoly. And as I mentioned to my friend, as an international business, and to cut a deal with China doing business there, apparently Microsoft gave China access to their core software (which some believe then made it into the hands of cyber “criminals” some believe to be loosely affiliated with the Chinese government–no proof but some of those attacks have been “very good.”). I don’t blame Microsoft really. They were losing money because THEIR property rights to their software was not being honored over there. So the deal was made (Did you know that MS sells the same software we get for A LOT cheaper over there?) to recover lost property rights in essence. Still, it is a sobering reminder of reality in the digital age.

“This guy who used to work for Google is on the same committee of people I don’t like! He backs Net Neutrality which I’ve lied about for the last year! He‘s a member of some organization that I don’t know what they do but it sounds scary!!!”
What a loon. Newsflash: Having an employee become a part of something DOESN’T MEAN THE COMPANY IS INVOLVING ITSELF!
Sadly, nutters like Beck were regulated to their mother’s basement 10 years ago, listening to re-runs of Albert Bell and reading up on the Moon Landing “hoax.” Sad days.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 12:02amI’ve been concerned about Google for quite some time. I’m also concerned with what Facebook can do, as well. Facebooks includes addresses, names, nicknames, where you went to school, what your political beliefs are, who your friends and families are, and what you interests are-they should call it “YourLifeBook”. You can do a whole lot of investigative research on one blog-legally.

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 12:53amBroker, go to a website you have never been to, shop, and go to the final step before actually paying, it is usually some personal information. If Google is involved, at least five prior versions of your name will pop up giving you a choice of what to chose this time. Is it okay that from prior unrelated sites records of your name pops up? Let your modern mind wander…

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 6:43amLike Glenn says, do your own homework on Google. I agree that with all the stories on Google “spying” on people and stealing WiFi passwords/data. Their “street view” cars coming up against resistance around the world. Their “cozying up” too close to the government. Independently, they may mean nothing. Collectively, something smells rotten. You got it wrong! I listen to Glenn but I trust only God. You lefties have to have trust because your secular faith (Marxism/Socialism) is for the most part, nonsense and when no rational analysis can be applied, under such circumstance, faith and blind trust is all that is left. Someone said the character of a person is define by the company he/she keeps. Have you looked are your allies lately?

COURT AGREED AND SAID THAT IT WOULD BE OVERREACH OF THE GOV’T. WELL, IT SEEMS THAT THOSE REGULATIONS IMPLEMENTED BY THE FCC DO NOT APPLY TO SEARCH ENGINES! IT APPLYS TO THE BROADBAND SPECTRUM, EVERYTHING EXCEPT SEARCH ENGINES, WHY? now this might not lead anywhere, however someone out there might have a clearer picture of this than me. i don’t know. i have limited resources, yet still working to increase my resources. input on this would do just that for me. maybe getting this question to glenn use his resources, I will send similar e-mail to glenn, all hands here are welcome to assist on this, LETS DO OUR HOMEWORK FELLOW STUDENTS. A window opened asking me if it was ok that Google shared my GPS address with others. At the time I of course replied no. But it begs the question: 1)Why did they want to share my GPS location and 2) whom did they want to share it with?

Report Post »abc
Posted on February 17, 2011 at 2:39pmBeck looks really silly now. It was social media sites like Facebook and Twitter that enabled the mass organization by young protesters that overthrew the repressive regime in Egypt, not Google. An employee of Google helped take a leadership role in this organization, but he was doing it on his own time, not as a part of a corporate strategy of that tech giant.
I wonder if Beck has the same misgivings about the US Army since Timothy McVeigh worked for them…

Posted on February 17, 2011 at 10:26pmI used to play a game on my pc called “America’s Army”.
It started off as a virtual reality simulator for training US troops before it was made available to the public as a downloaded game.
After being made public, it continued to be managed by the US Army.
I played for a number of years, until something happened.
The US Army and Feds put out a statement saying essentially, just by installing this game, your computer becomes Property of the US Army, and they can prosecute you and seize your computer for messing around (hacking) the game.
Needless to say, I stopped playing the game, uninstalled it from my computer, wiped my hard drive to zeroes, and reinstalled everything clean from factory.
