Beck Warns: Don‘t Let Radicals Use Trayvon Martin’s Death to Push Political Agendas

On his Thursday radio broadcast, Glenn Beck delved into an incident that has ignited a whirlwind of controversy — one that has raised pulses of people from all walks, but all for different reasons. His radio segment with a caller concerned over the fallout follows below, but first The Blaze provides some background:
By now, many are probably familiar with the disturbing story of Trayvon Martin — a 17-year-old black teen gunned down by a Florida gated community’s self-appointed neighborhood watchman. Much of the current evidence indicates the shooting was a hate crime, as the unarmed boy, who was said to have been seeking shelter from the rain, was carrying nothing more than a packet of Skittels at the time of the incident. Adding to this theory, police indicate the shooter may have uttered a racial epithet — “f–king coon” — prior to opening fire on the Florida youth.
The shooter, a Hispanic by the name of George Zimmerman, claims he was acting in self defense and as such, has yet to be arrested. He maintains he was attacked by the teen, but a statement by the deceased’s girlfriend — who was allegedly on the phone with Trayvon at the time of the shooting — suggests it was in fact Zimmerman who assailed Martin.
Although Zimmerman is attempting to shield himself behind a 2005 Florida “Stand Your Ground” law giving citizens the right to defend themselves when threatened, it is clear this was not a case of meeting force with equal force.
According to reports, public records reveal that in 2005 Zimmerman was arrested in Orange County for resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer. Residents of the Sanford gated community also allege the shooter had been overly-aggressive during his watch-shifts in the past.
It is possible then that Zimmerman may simply be a deeply disturbed, paranoid individual with a propensity for violence towards just about anyone.
In any case, few if any believe Zimmerman should not be arrested.
Even Stand Your Ground’s sponsors are calling for his arrest and do not believe the gunman deserves immunity under their law.
Former state Sen. Durell Peaden and current state Rep. Dennis Baxley said the law was specifically engineered to protect people who are clearly in danger of suffering bodily harm.
“They got the goods on him [Zimmerman]. They need to prosecute whoever shot the kid,” said Peaden. “He has no protection under my law.”
Section 3 of the statute reads:
A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.
Self-defense laws in other states say a victim must at least make an attempt to flee before using force, unless they are at home, under the broader “castle doctrine.”
Now, the Congressional Black Caucus and other left-leaning lawmakers are rallying for hearings to revise Stand Your Ground – even though the language of the bill and its provisions fall within the framework of most would consider right and just.
And Van Jones’ Color of Change, Change.org, Al Sharpton, NAACP, CAIR and others are hopping on the bandwagon — both with regards to Stand Your Ground and the alleged misconduct of the Sanford Police.
Beck said the law “doesn’t apply“ in this case and that ”you can’t just go follow somebody down the street and claim the stand your ground law.”
“You have to have a right to stand your ground…and say ‘this is my property, you are in violation.’ Not just to be able to shoot people, but to protect yourself and that doesn’t include going down the street and following the guy down a block. That’s not what you do.”
Yet, “the left is saying that you don’t have a right to stand your ground.”
Beck’s co-host, Stu Burguiere, noted that the left will oftentimes uses tragic events such as these to overturn a commonsense law that everyone “knows is the right thing,” but that they could not justify overturning otherwise.
“Again, we don’t know all the facts of this case yet, but it seems as if this guy… was calling him [Trayvon] racist names and following him, then shot him in cold blood. It has nothing to do with this law.”
Glenn said that “by any stretch of the imagination,” it does not appear Trayvon was the aggressor in this case and that justice needs to be served, but also expressed concern that the left is using this tragedy to push their political agendas.
He also suggested that anyone who really understands the Civil Rights Movement would hardly push to eliminate a law that protects people from allowing thugs to assault them.
But if calls to change a law most would argue is reasonable and had naught to do with the boy’s death were not enough, now this neighborhood vigilante’s head is being called for by…other vigilantes.
The Blaze reported that The Black Liberation Militia and now, Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan, has vowed vengeance and to take the law into their own hands by hunting down Zimmerman wherever he may be and conducting a citizen’s arrest — a measure of which Martin’s own father disapproves. The Black Liberation Militia”
Beck responded: “We have this extremist African-American militia group that says they’re just going to come in and handle it. You’re got Al Sharpton winding everybody up. You’ve got Color For Change winding everybody up.”
He also noted that Zimmerman will likely become a poster child for police brutality and racism even though the police were not the ones who committed the crime, and thus far, only stand accused of conducting a sloppy investigation. To that end, Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee ended up stepping down – at least temporarily — over the incident late Thursday afternoon.
At the end of the day, Beck believes that it is not for Change.org, or Al Sharpton, or a rogue militia in the spirit of the Blank Panthers to deliver retribution for the child and his family, and that the goal in all this is clear: Seek justice not an agenda.
Yet that will likely not stop the allegations or calls for vigilantism from flying, even though something is being done — it just may not be the “something” some people may want:
Initially, most of the calls for action were prompted by progressive website Change.org, which has been circulating a petition calling for Zimmerman’s arrest already garnering nearly 817,000 signatures to date — and has clearly accomplished what it set out to do. The Department of Justice has taken notice of the case and, just hours after the FBI announced it was launching a probe into the murder, Florida state Attorney Norm Wolfinger announced his call that a Grand Jury be convened. His full statement follows [emphasis added]:
“I share in the desire of the family and the community to accurately collect and evaluate all the facts surrounding the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. That is why I directed the expeditious review of the investigation which was delivered by the Sanford Police Department one week ago today; areas for further investigation have been identified; and, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has agreed to assist and has been working hard with my office since Friday March 16th.
“I will also be utilizing the investigative resources of the Seminole County Grand Jury which will be called to session on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
“I respectfully request that the public remain patient as this process continues forward. We are a country based upon law, and as the State Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit I am sworn to uphold those laws. As I have previously stated, the public is entitled to no less than a thorough, deliberate, and just review of the facts. We intend to honor that commitment.“
Yet rogues and political activists do not seem as vocal in their praise of Wolfinger and others who have vowed to deliver justice as they have been in their scorn of the Sanford police department and a Stand Your Ground law.
While allegations have been made citing the Sanford police’s “checkered past,” such claims have yet to be substantiated, and the fact that many news outlets are reporting Zimmerman as “white,” when he is Hispanic (his father referred to him as a “Spanish-speaking minority with many black family members”), isn’t helping matters.
“He’s not white,” Beck said. “So, who’s the bad guy — he’s the stereotypical bad guy? You [the left] don‘t want to demonize the Hispanic because he’s part of the oppressed.“ He added that this sort of ”radical thinking” is the kind one sees within the Occupy movement, where facts are disregarded entirely. ”I mean, did Al Sharpton ever care about the facts?”
Of course, people of all races, creeds and religions can be racist, but it seems to only fuel the fire when agitators paint Zimmerman as a white racist hiding under the “protection” of a “flawed” Stand Your Ground law and a largely white, “racist” police force. In fact, this narrative seems eerily in lock-step with the “enforcing negative stereotypes“ component of ”Political System X.”
Beck ceded that the man who shot Trayvon could indeed be a racist, but that many of his detractors are driven by a racial agenda too, and thus are everything they claim to stand against.
Regardless of Zimmerman’s motives, a child is dead. And it does a horrible diservice to this boy’s legacy and memory when those with ulterior motives exploit his death to further their own agenda.

Again I ask, why didn’t the victim or his girlfriend also call 911 immediately when HE thought HE was being followed, chased, pursued (Websters dictionary defines it; to follow in order to overtake, capture,or kill; chase). There is an old law enforcement saying; “Flight is Guilt”.
It is and was a tragedy, but the leftist, liberals and the blacks are acting as if no person of color has EVER commited a tragedy against a White and the media is hypeing him as a white man, not as a Hispanic.
America is so easily drawn into the leftist liberal web, that’s why I say; “Barry will win re-election in a landslide”.

Thousands of young black men are killed by other young black men every year and virtually none of their stories make the late news. But because this shooting involves a ‘white’ shooter all the black racists are trotted out to score points against the ‘white oppressor’. It seems that black on black crime is not worth reporting and only ‘white’ on black crime is newsworthy because it allows bottom feeders like sharpton to build and consolidate his power base.

http://youtu.be/sY3sYY1eKYE
I don’t think I saw the story about the 15yr old white kid from KC having gas poured on him and set afire because he was white on FOX CNN MSNBC etc either although the Blaze did cover that story.
What’s with the selected coverage people? I‘ve said many times and I’ll say it one more time because people are just not getting it.. Upwards to 10k Whites are being raped or murdered each year by blacks. Those stats can be found in the FBI stats; however, you can’t find 10 blacks raped or murdered by whites yet the Media covers all 10 or so cases but rarely mentions the other cases where whites are victims.
Is this obvious to everyone? You then have to ask why. Why the selected coverage? Who/what benefits by concealing the extraordinary amount of black on white crime in America?
The primary reason why this is concealed is because it strikes against the notion of multiculturalism, diversity, and pluralism which are lofty notions in theory but are turning out to be deadly for many unfortunate unsuspecting and uninformed members of the White race.
Next you have to ask who is promoting the multicult, diver, and plural in America and why.. I hope that you will begin to question Boldly even you Mr. Beck.

If the do-gooder bigots want to fall victim to their gullibility, note one thing: Every incident involving vicious black on white mob assaults…..WHICH ARE IGNORED BY THE MSM AND THE WHITE POPULATION AT LARGE…….has as its basis some kind of idea that these criminal blacks are “getting even” at whitey for one imagined justice or another, and they purposely ignore the literally thousands of black on white assaults and attacks their tribe commits every year.
By jumping to conclusions and siding with black race baiters like Shartpton, Farrakhan, the Black Militia and the Black Panthers, the do-gooers screraming the loudest could well be setting themselves or their families up for beatings, murders and assaults all under the pretense of blacks “seeking justice for Trayvon,” just like these two recent examples:

“Black guys have the worst attitudes on the planet. And don’t give me that slavery crap.”
That couldn’t be more accurate. Black attitude has nothing to do with slavery. Slavery is just an excuse to use when they invariably fail, which allows them the advantage of blaming their lack of achievement on whitey, who they delight in mobbing and beating to vent their frustrations at failing and being unable to compete with anybody actually, not just whites.
If this country was majority Hispanic, with Hispanics holding the majority of power, blacks would be blaming them for the same lack of achievement they blame whites for right now, because Hispanics also outperform blacks in almost every endeavor but sports.
All the states right now that have large and/or growing populations of Hispanics and blacks are involved periodically in racial fights, especially California, which Lee Baca, the Sheriff of LA County, described as a legitimate race war in every sense in an article he wrote for the LA Times. He should know. He’s at ground zero.
Blacks are also fighting with Asians in schools that have larger than average Asian populations, and it’s because Asians outperform them so greatly it puts them to shame, so their jealousy prompts them to bully Asian kids too, just as they do white kids.
Black attitude will not improve either. It will either be consumed in a civil conflict or they will fall so far behind they’ll fill the jails and prisons.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 11:24pmSo, an accused gets a jury of his peers. Who are Zimmerman’s peers? Whites? Hispanics? The Batson case ensures a person gets a jury composed of at least a portion of his peers (ie., same race). What race is Zimmerman? It has real legal implications.
And what if there is a “not guilty”? Riots. Worse than Rodney King. Get ready. Could get nasty.
Jesse Jackson’s comments that blacks are being targeted is interesting since there are some pundits who believe allowing hispanics to dramatically increase in numbers is an intentional efforts to marginalize blacks in America since hispanics are workers and family-oriented.
Blacks are in a tough spot (self-inflicted for much of it) by not focusing on education, committing too much crime per capita and having children out of wedlock (one of the surest ways for a group to stay mired in poverty).

Instead, he actively pursued Trayvon Martin and “maybe” Trayvon fought back in an attempt to protect his self. Trayvon Martin looks far more intelligent than the beady eyed Zimmerman. Trayvon might have tried to fight off a neanderthal looking man, that was obviously in pursuit of him. Stand Your Ground doesn’t include chasing after someone who has moved away from your “ground”. For example, if someone walks in front of my house and glances at it, and then continues on his way, there isn’t any reason for me to believe that, that person means me any harm. It’s clear that “Stand Your Ground” doesn’t apply here, and therefore should not be rescinded. Also, this is not a White man that killed a Black kid, but a Latino man who killed a Black kid. I have always believed in “the individual” & “reasonable amount of necessary ”laws”..not getting into “the weeds” with that comment, about 30 yrs ago I would find myself thinking “additional laws added to the books” applied to the 20% of citizens that just want to ignore common decency. Today about 30-35% of the population has no problem with unsavory behavior in a civil society. HOWEVER these additional laws added for these unsavory citizens take away all of our liberties….I don’t use the term “rights” because it has been mis-used for unsavory purposes. If this sounds too simple.well, when I initially heard the 1965 words of Paul Harvey in 1965 (I listened to him daily for all those years) many today would find it “simple & possibly (my word), crude“ and ”truth” now-a-days is considered “crude”!

Hate crime is a sin not a crime. We can punish someone say something hateful because it is a sin! Folks be strong! When someone slam you, just ignore the statement and bless them. You are living in a sinful world, what could you expect! Hate crime law is a dumb idea. I am saying it and plan not to take it back, period.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 2:27amLEADNOTFOLLOW just look at the disparity of who is in prison. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) non-Hispanic blacks accounted for 39.4% of the total prison and jail population in 2009.
According to the 2010 census of the US Census Bureau blacks (including Hispanic blacks) comprised 13.6% of the US population.
I’m sure that will put a smile on your face.

Report Post »Due to poor media coverage, only one suspect is in custody. The other suspects in Mrs. Strait’s rape and murder, have not been arrested.
The police have stated, that there were probably at least FIVE attackers.
If this story was being reported as heavily as the Trayvon Martin death, the other suspects would probably already be in custody.
Until all of the murderers are apprehended, justice has not been done in Mrs. Strait’s murder case. Black on white crime doesn’t make big news, like white on black crime does.

The eye witness is afraid to show his face! Gee, I wonder what he is affraid of? Oh yeah, the sea of useful idiots marching for a cause they know exactly nothing about! This is angering.
These videos are actual local news reporting the facts and evidence of the case.

Justice??? That is interesting. If it is a justified shooting, then we already have it. Zimmerman should reconsider his apporach to neighborhood watch, and get more training, but I do appreciate a person willing to put himself on the line to protect his negihborhood, however ill-conceived the idea of following a 6′2“ ”child” in the middle of the night, in rain, and alone. Intentions amount to a hill of beans when “someone must pay”. BTW- justified does not mean the incident was unavoidable, smart, or ideal…just legal. People who take RTKBA as seriously as they should know what I mean.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 1:33amThe reason this is making international headlines is because there is strong evidence of Police corruption because of the 911 tape. Zimmerman was told not to pursue this kid. Zimmerman murdered a kid who was returning from store to buy a soda and some candy. How in the heII would you feel if that was your child.
Report Post »flagkeeper
Posted on March 23, 2012 at 1:41am911 dispatchers will tell you avoid confrontation or even to put your weapon away, even if a burgaler is in your house! That part of the tape means nothing. The part that does mean something is that Trayvon‘s father said the voice screaming help was not his son’s!!! See the video i linked above.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 1:13amThis will play right into the progressives and radicals (thus Obama’s) agendas for all it can be milked; they will stop at nothing in the matter and I do see a fair chance that someone will take the shooter down with violence and kill him outright. At that point, there is a greater chance of unrest breaking out and the matter escalating.
Look for the Democrats at any time start to push massive legistlation on the matters of self defense rights and gun control laws by the score; all aimed at underminding the right to bear arms and our rights to self defense.
As I tell people with my home in Az, any intruder daring to break into my apartment will be dragged out by his feet.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 12:56amOh no, no we don’t want redistribution of wealth, no. Really? If I have to pay for a highway in Iowa, guess what? That’s redistribution of wealth. If I have to pay for some old person to get medicare even though I myself will gracefully pass when it’s my time, then it’s Socialism, and redistribution of wealth. And to boot, here’s the kicker, many many old people have known the country would eventually collapse on their grandchildren but they thought “So what, I won’t have to deal with it” even though they don’t give a damn about it collapsing on their grandchildren who are paying taxes for their miserable old butts. Giving people medicare and Social Security is Socialism, and there is no picking and choosing. You either are or you are not! And if you are, then you deserve whatever monsters you have created that come out of hiding.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 1:17amBecause here’s the thing: if you have once or twice in your life when you were younger stolen a candy bar or a few dollars, then you “Have” stolen before but you are not living by thievery. But if you redistribute wealth through Socialism for security reasons to people who don’t want to have to lose their life style, and you do it regularly to live, then you are ‘living’ through thievery.
