Beck’s Europe Trip Sets the Stage for Religious Freedom Coalition & Int’l Tea Party Movement

Glenn Becks Europe Trip Sets Stage for Religious Freedom & Tea Party Coalitions

Over the years, Glenn Beck has been a vocal proponent of religious freedom, as he has spoken candidly about the need for people of faith to come together to fight against rampantly secular attacks on religion. As The Blaze reported on Sunday, Beck met with Catholic Church leaders to pledge his support for religious freedom, while exploring ways in which people from various faith traditions can coalesce to stand against ongoing assaults on religion.

In addition to these important meetings, he was also invited to address Tea Party leaders from numerous countries to discuss the creation of an international peace and freedom movement. Both of these initiatives – one focusing on the freedom of religious expression and the other on peace and prosperity – will result in massive and influential international coalitions.

On the religious front, Beck is seeking to form a collective comprised of people who espouse diverse theological views, but who share a passion and willingness to stand up for religious freedom. As evidenced through his work, he has long encouraged people of all faiths to stand together — distinct and separate in their beliefs — but united in their support of everyone to practice those ideals without persecution.

This most recent meeting with Cardinals, Monsignors, Archbishops and other leaders comes as the Catholic Church in America is embroiled in a massive religious-freedom argument with the Obama administration. The so-called contraceptive mandate is being foisted upon church-affiliated hospitals, colleges and institutions, as the Obama administration is demanding that the Catholic Church violate its conscience to provide contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs in nearly all health plans. This, Beck believes, is a direct attack on the freedom of religious practice – one that he’s prepared to combat as part of a faith-fuelled collective.

Beck’s discussion with Catholic leaders is the latest in a series of ongoing dialogues he has had with various faith leaders. Since 2010, the radio and television host has held restoration projects (“Restoring Honor,” “Restoring Courage” and, in the summer of 2012, “Restoring Love”) and has developed content for his radio and television programs that has overtly focused on the protection of religious liberty. These events, initiatives and collaborations are culminating with the launch of a non-political movement that will focus on a collaborative approach to ensuring that the free exercise of religion continues in America and beyond.

“I can stand here and tell you with absolute certitude that God lives, God cares, God is involved in our life. I know it,” Beck said during a special GBTV episode about religious freedom at the end of January. “We are not battling for the next election, we’re battling for the very soul of each of us and of our nation.”

Recognizing the pressing need to address religious liberty, Beck has consistently brought together diverse faith leaders. In one recent example, during the aforementioned episode, he assembled Catholic League president Bill Donohue, Rabbi Daniel Lapin of the American Alliance of Jews and Christians, and Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church in Texas, to discuss the issues surrounding the contraceptive mandate and religious freedom in general.

Beck’s weekend meeting with church leaders follows personal discussions with some of the most prominent evangelical leaders in America — Billy Graham, Dr. James Dobson, John Hagee and James Robison, to name a few. Additionally, he had met with Israeli Chief Ashkenazi, Israel’s Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger and Rabbi Marc Schneier. He has also met with high-ranking officials in the Eastern Orthodox community, Coptic Christians from the Middle East and others. Beck’s efforts to connect with these communities reflect what he sees as a need to build bridges between various faith traditions so that the collective can have a stronger voice in fending off secular attacks.

In addition to the support Beck offered to the church, he also announced the “We Are All Catholics Now” movement last week, which encouraged the public to call their Senators to rally support for the “Blunt Conscience Protection Amendment.” Both of these instances mirror Beck’s similar pledge to stand with Israel during last year’s “Restoring Courage” rally. In fact, much of his work over the past two years has paved the way for this newfound faith coalition.

If you’ll recall, on Aug. 28, 2010, hundreds of thousands joined Beck for the “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington, D.C – an event that, in many ways, laid the groundwork for this movement. The rally, which took place on the National Mall, encouraged attendees to return to the essential principles of “faith, hope and charity.” It was here that Beck proclaimed that, without faith, the nation would have an uncertain future.

“This is the beginning of the great awakening of America,” Beck said in the hours leading up to the event.

“Something that is beyond man is happening,” he later told the massive crowd that convened in the U.S. capitol. “America today begins to turn back to God. For too long, this country has wandered in darkness.”

In 2011, Beck followed this event up with the “Restoring Courage” rally on Aug. 24. It was there in Israel that he laid out the challenges that lay ahead for people of faith. In addition to encouraging people to participate in transforming their nation and world, he offered a warning about the impending need to fight for religious freedom.

Glenn Beck speaking at "Restoring Courage"

“Our problems demand more than checkbook courage. It’s easy to write a check,” he said. “But we can’t outsource love and truth and courage. We must do it ourselves. We must roll up our sleeves to make a lasting difference.”

Building upon the message he had uttered just one year before, Beck called for a movement of “honor…courage… and responsibility.” He spoke about the role the faithful must fill to “fight for the rights of others to worship freely,” while telling the audience that each individual also has a responsibility to “fight falsehood.”

“Evil is counting on us to do nothing,” Beck proclaimed. “Evil is counting on us to be afraid. But evil has misjudged us.”

Below, watch a portion of Beck’s speech at “Restoring Courage”:

It was at “Restoring Courage” that Beck offered his support to the Jewish state and people, proclaiming, just as he has with the Catholics, “I will stand with Israel. I will stand with the Jewish people.” He has consistently spoken, as evidenced here, of the disturbing rise in anti-Semitism and secularists’ attacks on faith.

On the Tea Party front, FreedomWorks and Mercury One co-sponsored an event between Beck and international leaders from various countries. Together, the associated parties are working to launch an international Tea Party Movement. Among those in attendance were individuals from Rome, Milan, Serbia, Austria, Germany, and London, among other localities. These leaders represent the front lines of the freedom and peace movement in Europe and beyond.

During the meeting, the small-government proponents expressed concern that America is heading down the same fiscal and legislative path Europe has taken over the past five decades. They expressed dismay and wondered why — in their view – the U.S. would be willing to risk its freedoms to embrace policies that have been proven impractical. Those in attendance were not simply speaking in political terms, though, as they acknowledged that politics, alone, won’t solve international problems. Instead, they stressed the need for people from different countries to come together to push values associated with peace and freedom.

These meetings with faith leaders and international Tea Party groups and the ongoing focus on the secular community’s infringement upon people of faith will lead to Beck’s next event, “Restoring Love” – an initiative that will kick-off a national movement of service, love and religious freedom taking place from July 26-28 in Dallas, Texas. Beck recently explained that the event “will be a reminder that we best serve our God when we serve each other.”

The US is so close to being the next Greece. We no longer have control over our country. It has been taken over by corporations and warmongering elites. Hardly anything appears rational anymore. The people we elect no longer look out for us. Its time for a radical reset back to the constitution and accoutability.

That pretty well sums up the situation in a nutshell.

Those elites are importing warm bodies in order to increase their wealth and power with more consumers and tax units. The entire basis of PC is to employ Big Brother tactics in order to intimidate the tribal factions to get along, so they can have more power and earn more money.

Greece debt to GDP ratio is about 150%. The US is over 100% debt to GDP. It’s less, but it is still in very dangerous territory, but, more seriously than Greece’s situation, IT IS GROWING AT LIGHTNING SPEED. We’ll surpass Greece by next year if we still keep deteriorating at the pace we are on now.

But as you imply, our problems both financially and socially are much more than just debt. I’m afraid the empire is coming to an end.

Secessation and civil conflict could well be in our immediate future. More likely than not, both will occur. If ithey do, many people are preparing to be able to set up a huge swath of the US for those who want a return to a true constitutional Republic under the dictates of the US Constitution.

I love Glenn. Been following him since *THE DAY* of the 2008 collapse. I buy his shirts & books, listen to him almost every day, read The Blaze almost every day, etc.

    We need more Glenns.

And I appreciate, I really do, what he’s doing in the name of religious freedom.

But I am not religious (well, not in the traditional sense). I am a Deist. I believe some greater power is out there and that nature makes it evident, but I don’t believe men can accurately define or speak for God.

I am sure there are more Deist and non-religious types that love Glenn — and want everyone to keep the right to practice their religious views in freedom and peace.

I only wish Glenn’s voice talked a bit more about all of us, and all of our rights to practice our freedom of conscience. I wish his focus wasn‘t so much on just the theist’s point of view — though I appreciate his right to do so.

Whether or not us non-theists are your “brothers in Christ”, many of us sympathize with you and are your “brothers in Liberty”.

Please don’t forget about us. Please don‘t push back against the tyranny so hard that in 20 years we rotate around the other way and end up in something closer to a theistic gov’t.

God loves us all, regardless of our religious views, as evidenced by the fact that we all enjoy life and self-realization.
We should love each other in the same spirit.

A couple years ago when the TParty needed them to stand with us they choose to make deals with the devil. The devil stabs them in the back and now they want our support? You have to remember that the Catholic Church has been infiltrated all the way “up to the top”. I don’t believe that the Pope is part of the infiltration. John Paul II called many catholics who go to church the “pew sitters”. The go to church on Sunday and that is the extent of their faith. There are many good Catholics and there are many that are pro abortion, vote socialist or worse and have forgotten how Catholics lost their freedom under Hitler. It is a shame but we have to stand up for our faith, for our country and for our freedom.

Nice to see Beck and The Blaze evolving.
It was not a few weeks ago that Sunday articles were Bash ‘Catholic church day’.

Umm, lets see the Catholic Church has been holding these kinds of meetings for oh, idk around 2000 years, In recent History, Pope John Paul II threw open the doors of reconciliation between faiths, Just sayin’

I find it very cynical some of the comments here wondering if Beck should “help” the Church or not.
Cynical in that you, and he for that matter, discounted the 70 millions of U.S. Catholics Quietly Observing our faith.
It seems to me Beck sees what Obama does not, we are kinda a silent majority, and quite active, if you have eyes to see.
We DO welcome back those of sincere and good conscience. I find it amusing that there are people ignorant of faith assuming the Church is throwing in with Beck, when it is in fact the other way around, at least on this obamacare and freedom issue.

I welcome it, if he is not against you he is for you.
Work your own salvation out with God.
When you are ready for more than milk, the Church will still be here.
Until then, Welcome to the party – we will shake out the dust of evil-

My challenge to you, Beck, Renounce your religion and embrace your Faith. It’s high time that Christians do this and stop being call Mormons, Catholics, Baptists and etc. Time to be simply called Chrstians, for what makes you better than another that you have to use a term to separate you from other Christians. Time to cast out bad doctines that have creep in and decieved the flock. Time to get back to the core roots of what Paul and apostles taught. Along the way we lost our way as a whole being the Church of God. The field is ripe for a harvest and time for Revival. It is a time to embrace THE FAITH OF OUR FATHERS.

I wish that was possible, but it isn’t. There was only one church to begin with, the Catholic church. Luther splintered off, and the splintering has continued. But, we can stand together as Christians and fight for our religious freedoms. We believe in Our Lord. That is our common bond. And with the Jewish people, we stand with them believing in the one true God. Republicans are tearing each other down and Christians are tearing each others faith down. Let us unite and stand together to defeat the real enemy – Obama.

      JOHN_THE_BELOVED,

I totally understand where you are coming from. I myself am having trouble figuring out what denomination I am, so that it will help in selecting a good church. I belong to Christ! But we together, belong to the Body also.

The problem is, that while we all are called to participate in the building of the Ever-Lasting Church, we organize and participate in earthly organizations because they give us the framework we need while we are here. Churches provide “scaffolding”, in my opinion, to enable us to work together building (through the Holy Spirit), the eternal structure that is not made with hands, but with His Spirit and our hearts. Currently, I am trying to do my part on a ladder, instead of with others on a scaffold- and I can tell you that I really need to find a scaffold with brothers and sisters in Christ because ladders aren’t as effective.

In the end, all ladders and scaffolds will disappear, be cast off for the cleanup crew, as we all join the true Body of Christ beyond the veil. But these organizations serve a vital purpose. We need this extended family of believers that touch our own little bubbles.

Real harm comes in to play when we spend too much time attaching the faithful, which I believe is what you are saying. If we do not stand with believers, then we don’t stand with Christ. If we are against believers, we are against Christ. I think this is a great start, and I am so encouraged that my heart has been smiling a

People often speak of the things that must happen before Jesus returns. Usually mentioned are wars, earthquakes, the anti-Christ and so forth. But one of the biggest things is the unity of believers that grows until that which is perfect has come, and Jesus has brought all into all:

Eph 1:9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both [fn1] which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.

Eph 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, 3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.

There is a worldwide battle going on for the hearts and minds of people who believe in the collective versus those that believe in the individual. The left is organized and have merged strange bedfellows to fight against individualists. Unions, communists, socialists, Marxists, Islamists, statists…collectivists all, are trying to hasten the downfall of capitalism, the Western way of life. They want their own perverse Democracy while controlling individualists from enjoying their freedoms and liberties.

A couple of hundred years ago men stood up, from different religions, backgrounds, parties…against tyranny. They were ridiculed. They were persecuted. History has a funny way of repeating itself. We are almost full circle in an oncoming fight against tyranny. Sadly we have allowed it to come from within.

I am glad Beck is helping to organize a worldwide resistance to tyranny. Some people are so myopic worrying that because Beck is Mormon that it somehow taints his efforts. Or that the Tea Party should not go international. That somehow the Tea Party cannot remain faithful to the ideals of liberty if it’s global. It did once before. It’s what we call our Republic. Besides, if you love liberty and freedom, you are going to need, to want, all the help you can get.

We’re witnessing quite a phenomenon here. Why?

Because, more than ANYBODY Glenn Beck created the US Tea Party with his on air requests for unity by requesting photos of people to show they aren’t alone. That was absolutely brilliant.

He will have the same success with the International Tea Party.

The bunch responsible for Glenn’s departure from Fox will rue the day they ever uttered a wimper about him, because he’s going to be a global force that will cause them more grief than they ever thought possible.

We might soon be engaged in civil conflict, but when it ends we will have the kind of government we want, less all the flakes, oddballs and misfits on the far left. There will be no NYT or Moveon.org, and Geoge Soros will be on the run, if he doesn’t croak first from old age.

IN OTHER WORDS: Glenn has on many occasions talked about “the pendulum”. Until now (here in America) the religious pendulum has swung back and forth but never been stopped. At the Federal-level it has always been allowed to swing (so far) and at the State-level it was in fact allowed to be stopped in our early days — but given the nature of Federalism, every State enjoyed a different situation — and like-minded people could move to a State that was more aligned with their views. That basically represented a win-win for everyone.

But if we stop the pendulum at the Federal-level (whether in favor of Atheism or in favor of Theism), we will have violated our founding principles — and ultimately will destroy both Freedom AND Religion.

Let’s unite together: and demand the Federal religious-pendulum be left free of gov’t-intervention.
And, yes, I mean that sincerely. I am not a Theist, but I am also not an Atheist. I don’t favor prayer, per-se, but I am also not antagonistic to it.

      Individual Liberty.
      To each, his own.
If you want to pray in public, pray.
If I don’t like it, I can ignore it, read a book, or get up and move to a different area.

      Liberty.
      That should be our goal.
Heaven helps us if we enable the pendulum to be stopped: even if it seems it’s stopped in our favor.
Because tomorrow, a different dictator will arise; and he may not like us.

As I said before, something beyond men is happening, the light lights up the fruit of men whether it is good fruit or wicked fruit.

Mmmm, I don’t know A global Tea Party seems antithetical to the principles of the Tea Party. At least that’s my gut reaction. Anyone else getting that feeling?

I don’t know. This seems to be a battle between Tyranny (Socialism/Fascism) and Freedom and the Tea Party stands on the side of Freedom. Definitely the world needs America to be saved first so we can help others, but there are people seeking freedom elsewhere and we should stand with them. The world needs less gov’t regulation and lower taxes and definitely more individual freedom.

I agree and am very concerned, there is such a lack of understanding of religious history in this country. People think this cooperation is all lovely and compassionate. But joining with the Vatican (not crticising the Catholic people) Is dangerous. For centuries, the church heirarchy did everything they could to discourage religious libety on a global scale. We will be usd to gain more global power.

Oh, yes, I‘m seriously wary of Glenn Beck’s idea of initiating “an international Tea Party movement.” The Tea Party movement was NEVER meant to be an global movement, let alone a global movement of religion. Glenn and most of his followers here on The Blaze seem to think that the unionization of people of all different religions from other countries is great, but it isn’t; in fact, the imminent result would be OMINOUS, since they would, be it unintentionally or purposefully, be pushing for a GLOBAL THEOCRACY.

Just Angry, Did you hear Glenn’s dialogue on the radio show this morning? Glenn said he was contacted by a leader of one of the Nato nations who wanted to start a Tea Party. First, Glenn stated that he was not the leader of the Tea Party (It started with Santelli’s Rant on Wall Street). Glenn then stated he declined to meet with the leader as there seemed to be no understanding that the Tea Party does not come from the top – it is a movement of individuals and ceases to be a Tea Party if it starts from the top down. I do think we need to be very careful. We must teach about the individual and freedom, but I agree that is good to be teaching Europe about the philosophy and economic thought that inspired the Constitution of the United States of America as it was forgotten by them as they choose socialism and communism over individual liberty.

At last … someone is standing up for our religious freedom in this country and abroad. For too long now religion has been beaten, battered and vilified by the secularists. And guess what? The media has sided with the minority. It’s time people around the world unite in this battle to restore religion to our countries. Once we go down the path of eliminating religion from our culture, it can never recover the loss.

The anarchists are misguided if they believe that sparking a revolution will get them what they want. They will end up with a dictatorship that will just gun them down if they get in the way. Better to figure out a constructive way to deal with the crisis and help family, friends and neighbors cope. That is the only way the Greeks will keep a free society.
