Beijing Police Detain Members of Illegal Church as They Gather for Easter

BEIJING (AP) — Chinese police detained at least a dozen Christians belonging to an unregistered Beijing church as the congregants gathered Sunday to hold Easter services.
Police stopped the worshippers from the unregistered Shouwang church at they gathered near a public plaza in the city’s university district, then bussed them to a local police station. It was not immediately clear whether they were arrested.
Shouwang members have been trying to meet at the plaza in Beijing’s Haidian district every Sunday since the congregation was evicted from its usual rented place of worship three weeks ago, but they have been detained or put under house arrest each time.
A church member told The Associated Press by phone Saturday night that he and the church’s pastors and leaders were all under house arrest. The member would give only his English name, Kane, for fear of reprisals by officials.
While China’s Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, Christians are required to worship in churches run by state-controlled organizations — the Three-Self Patriotic Movement for Protestants and the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association for Catholics.
However, more than 60 million Christians are believed to worship in unregistered “house” churches, compared to about 20 million in the state churches, according to scholars and church activists. The growth of house churches has accelerated in recent years, producing larger congregations that are far more conspicuous than the small groups of friends and neighbors that used to worship in private homes that gave the movement its name.
Their expansion and growing influence have unsettled China’s rulers, always suspicious of any independent social group that could challenge Communist authority.
Shouwang members have for years been at odds with Beijing officials over their right to worship. Tensions escalated earlier this month when the congregation was evicted from the Beijing restaurant where it had been holding services. Church leaders decided to temporarily hold services outdoors in a public space, prompting police to tape off the area and detain anyone who showed up to take part.
Shouwang leaders said in a statement last week that they tried to register with the government in 2006 but were rejected.
In December 2009, the church bought property in northwest Beijing for regular Sunday services but government interference prevented the group from occupying the space, the statement said.

@JGRAMHAMIII All chuches in America that have paid off the church properties or even close. Cancel there 501/C/3 status. And start paying taxes on the properties. And start talking about what’s going on in the country on Sunday nights or other evenings thru the week.

Posted on April 24, 2011 at 12:24pmagreed! However, there is another tax-exemption I’m told that carries no reporting of any “revenues”, and is a 508-a I think. It predates the use of the 501C-3 which was a device foisted on the churches by Lyndon B. Johnson when he was majority leader of the US Senate in the early 1950′s. The churches eagerly fell into the trap, giving up what they had already. Exemption or not, I will still give where I feel it appropriate without regard or approval from Uncle Sam. He is Risen!!

Posted on April 24, 2011 at 12:01pmNo government of men can stop the advance of Christianity. The Church historically has thrived under persecution when it comes from outside the ‘walls’ of the Church. It is only when the enemy is “inside the gates” as it were that the Church has trouble: the wolves in sheep’s clothing syndrome. I have it from someone who has very reliable connections in China that there are upwards of 150 million christians attending ‘unauthorized’ church services. Not an unimpressive number especially when one considers that in China, to become a Christian is in many cases to surrender any and all job opportunities and family connections. So, they hide, convert their entire families and keep on keeping on, meeting in homes and staying under the radar. It is the power of answered prayers that draws more people every day.
Report Post »The Church in America has it so good, most don’t think they need much help from outside, nor do they see danger on the horizon from the good ol’ US of A. Mark my words: if the government can sucessfully confiscate retiree‘s 401K’s and other retirement plans, can taxation of church properties and collections be far behind? The house church movement in this country is alive and well, but needs to wise up to what their persecuted brethren already know: don’t go to the government for a thing. The less Caesar knows the better. I do not tithe so I can get a deduction off my federal taxes. Most times I won’t even list it. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s. What I don‘t owe Caesar he doesn’t need nor does he need to know. The churches in America would do well to stay well away from the 501C-3 classification, as it tells the IRS EVERYTHING they want to know about your church. I believe the time has come for the Church here to reevaluate just how important that fancy new building is with all its expensive programs as opposed to winning the lost. It is time also to know who your friends are and be able to step back into obscurity if need be when trouble comes. China is a picture of what Christianity will be like here if we do not wise up.

He caused the death of 70 million easily while he himself lived and enjoyed everything that he deprived the people of. The long march was a myth as Mao was carried the entire way. Was it not just the other day that our own dear leader said we need to be more like China? So what are a few million deaths if it brings about control of thought through fear and intimidation. How else is one going to control freedom and liberty, the death knell to marxist/communist/socialist idiotology

Posted on April 24, 2011 at 10:27amThe Constitution is a bill of negative liberties.
It tells the Fed and State what it can’t do.
But if the law doesn’t specify exactly what cannot be done by the Fed and State, then the Fed and State feels it can perform that action, until legislation specifically prohibits that action.
Case and point, I was told by the Cleveland Police that the Cleveland Municipal School District has the authority to issue children “Identification cards” for the purpose of “securing” the PUBLIC building, to “enhance safety”, and to “expedite” media center and cafeteria services.
It’s called the P.R.I.D.E. program, for “Priority Recognition and Increased Data Efficiency”.
That acronym just said that kids with their police state ID cards will get “Priority Recognition” for getting library books and lunches (favortism), and that their tracking of my child will have “Increased Data Efficiency”.
The ID cards were issued without parental authority, without notifying parents ( I just got a notification over the Easter Holiday…I don’t wonder if that was deliberate) and they used photographs that were obtained from class pictures. As you know your kid can’t even get a library card without your permission. Children are NOT required by State Law to carry an ID. But these Nazis told me that my kid couldn’t come and go to school, a public building, not a federal building, without their student ID cards and that they wouldn’t be able to get library books or lunch without their Police State ID cards.
The Nazis then told me that PARENTS would not be allowed to enter the school building, a PUBLIC building, without showing them a State ID or Driver’s License.
I contacted the FBI, Local Police, School Administrators, Councilman, none of them could give me an explanation with a basis in law that gives them the authority to restrict access to public places and demand the showing of identification to enter a public building. They also couldn’t give me a basis in law for the illegal search at the door of a Public School without probable cause. They couldn’t explain what law gives them the authority to issue ID cards to children.
This is what happens when the public is not informed enough about the law and their rights. The State and Feds will TRAMPLE all over your rights and violate any law.
The Police Officer told me that the School District isn’t breaking any laws, but after researching the Ohio Revised Code and Cleveland City Ordinance, there are several laws on the books prohibiting this type of overstep of authority.
Namely Kidnapping, Interfering with Civil Liberties, and Unlawful Restraint. So you can see that this is selective enforcement by the Police because it furthers their police state agenda.
I’m sure people can see numerous problems with your public school issuing ID cards to your kids. They’re already indoctrinating them and training them to accept the Police State that is being erected around them, namely being erected around their school.
There is no probable cause to search me at the ingress and egress of a public place or building. The sidewalk and School Building is one continuous public area. There is no right to set up a checkpoint for illegal searches at any public place. If that were the case, residents in a community could barricade their entire neighborhood with checkpoints and not allowa person the liberty to pass until some form of illegal search is done and some State ID or Driver’s license is shown.
We all know we can’t do that. So why the hell can they? They get their powers from us. The authority they exercise is the same authority we have the right to exercise, all the way down to arresting a person at gunpoint.
This is the arbitrary expansion of powers by authorities without any basis in law, without any consultation from the general public, and without any recourse.
This is a symptom of “creeping martial law”. You can imagine if they have the authority to stop you at the ingress and egress of a public area and demand your ID (Your papers, please!), and deny access to public areas, then TECHNICALLY they can come right up to your front door or sidewalk and prevent access to the outside unless you show them your papers!
You do realize that your cell ends where the sidewalk begins, and that sidewalk and street is like a hallway in a giant prison where the Corrections Officers prowl about looking for someone to harrass…
Are we going to let them intimidate us into staying in our cell? Are we going to let them trample all over our rights with “Color of Law”, where there is no legal basis for their actions, but they’re just going to do it anyway?
REVOLT.
So what that the law may not specifically state “They have no right to prevent access to public areas or perform illegal searches without probable cause”.
Any rights not specifically delegated to the FED is reserved to the States and the PEOPLE respectively.
Nullification.

They actually prayed in the state houses and even held church services. What they did say was that we should be ‘free FROM religion’; meaning we have the right to worship and we please and the government shall impose no religion upon us. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the Founders were not of God and that cannot be further from the truth! The called on HIM every step of the way and if you read some of David Barton’s books (for a start) you will see this to be true.
