    Matthews seems to see every little tiny thing that the conservatives do wrong but not the liberal progressives. I am sure that is partly due to the fact he is one of them. As far as the gaff from Bachman, it is ridiculous for that to come under all of this fire. Everyone has a slip of the tongue at times. With Matthews and Obama it is almost constant—-which is really known as LYING! How well Bachman does or does not know her high school history is a stupid comment on Matthews part. I would be surprised if he knows his grammar school history. Maybe this is why he keeps saying such stupid stuff. He just doesn’t know anything else but STUPID!

      Texas, it’s called a mistake, not that she doesn’t know history. Mistakes are apparently allowed on the left but not on the right. Obama has made many, some were named above – 57 states and mispronouncing corpsmen (which he has done on several occasions). There are others – leaving out ‘endowed by their creator’ when citing the Declaration of Independence (which he also did on several occasions) and his reference to Europe as a country. Yet I never heard Chris say, ‘should a person be president if they don’t know the Declaration of Independence and who gave us those unalienable rights?’ I think the point most people are making is Chris will make excuses for Obama gaffs but calls into question the intelligence of people on the right when they make a mistake. It’s called hypocrisy.

This most recent one, fine, i give her a pass…as somone who travels a lot I understand what its like to have to think about what city you are in…but how about the one where she claimed our founding fathers worked hard to eradicate slavery?       Not to single some people out, but anyone who disagrees with Obama that he had been to 56-57 states is the ignorant one. There is in FACT of the matter 57 “States” in this country. I am not sure how anyone could NOT know this who has completed a grade school level education but here it is.

      50 states of the Union plus the “Federal States” of District Of Columbia, Guam,Virgin Islands, Porto Rico, Marianna Islands,American Samoa. For the purpose of the IRC, any city with a population over 250,000 may also apply for status of “State”. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-wd/0634001.pdf

      How is it possible that the super smart individuals who mock Obama’s obviously superior and factual knowledge, are unaware that, for instance. residents of Porto Rico can vote in the primaries to select the presidential nominee.? Anyone think he might go there to campaign?

      Do you know how many of the FFs were abolisionists?

      Do you know how many of the FFs were Black?

      Before and during the drafting of the Constitution, what were the discussions on race and what was the outcome?

      Find these four things out and then come back and post your question if you still feel the need.

      The 3/5 clause meant to force the Southern States to free their slaves so they would be included in representation? Article I section 2 clause 3

      Do you NOT know that this prohibited the importing of slaves after 1808? Seems pretty antislavery to me. But you obviously wouldn’t know about that because you are clearly constitutionally illiterate.

      I can not personally answer that question. I do not know for fact which he had been to. What I do know for fact is that EVERY president Campaigns in them. I do know that the people there vote in every election cycle.

      Obama stating he had been to them all was in my opinion a Freudian slip of the tongue. The cattle are not supposed to know that this country has more than 50 “States”.

      If they knew this they would start to question what the difference between US and USA are. This would lead them to learn that America (the 50 states) are a separate and foreign nation from “The United States”. The “14th” amendment tells us the truth. Anyone born or naturalized “outside” the Union and subject to the jurisdiction of the federal government is a “citizen” of the united states AND a citizen of the state he resides in. Thus dual citizenship. They are “American” Citizens of a “state” and also a “US citizen” of the foreign corporation named “The United States”. Law is Law and ignorance of this fact is no excuse.

      I could have included the “Trust territory of the Pacific Islands” which includes Palau and Micronesia, but didn’t want to confuse some people even more than they apparently already are.

      And you are exactly correct. All the cities you named are in fact “states” for the purpose of the IRC (Internal Revenue Code). Did you attempt to read the PDF to confirm this?

      By the way, Guam,Porto Rico,Virgin Islands, etc are NOT territories. They are “nations” just like each “state” of the Union is a separate nation.

      The United States has 50 states, peroid. Anything else is either a territory or a protectorate, neither of which is a state. So anything outside of 50 states is idiotic.

      You took my line. I still think that Obama plans for there to be 57 States. If you made all the U.S. Territories(6 of them) and D.C. into a state, then we would have 57 States, so it may have been a gaff more than an error in speaking. Imagine from a democrat prospective, adding 14 senators that would stay democrat, at least for a long time. It would become impossible to get a majority in the Senate for conservatives.

      Obama did not know there are only 50 states in the United States. But he does know there are 57 states in the ORGANIZATION OF THE ISLAMIC CONFERENCE with delgates to the United Nations.

      @Wildbill_B -Hope you were being merely tongue-in-cheek. If you weren’t, this reasoning doesn’t work as people born in American Samoa, though American nationals are NOT American citizens (Unless they have a parent that’s a US citizen) and as such may not vote in US presidential elections.

      The popular (reasonable) explaination of the the 57 states gaff was that he meant to say all [lower] 48 states except one[which would have been 47] Trouble is he got the “fifty” out and instead of correcting himself, muffed the correction by saying the “other half” of the number, “seven”. He probably could have saved it by just going “Oops, my bad” and correcting himself, instead of trying to go on like nothing ever happened.

      Still, Chris shouldn’t be quite so self-righteous as I’m sure he’s committed his own share of verbal gaffs (like when he stated the Panama Canal was in Egypt).

      A President should know the American history and We the people should know the history of the President. Why is Obama hiding his history? Should’nt Mathews want to uncover the history of his day? If history is so important to this guy then release the records under lock and key or is this the Palin way of calling the opposition idiots even before anyone announces their candidacy. Look for these loons to tell us how anyone who does not agree with the progressives that they are idiots. These folks playbook is old.

      Ms. Bachmann and Glenn Beck have revisionist American History and constitutionary understandings.

      Its like the bible to them. they interpet it the way they read it. They dont really understand it. they understand it the way they see it. Many people read the bible and say it says this to me. or means this to me. Thats how they understand history. thats what home school does to you.

      But in this one case Ms. bachmann made a huge mistake. and should just own up to it.

      She will never be president, but if she wants to run please do. stand next to O’bama that will show the whole world the difference between educated population and non educated population.
