A Flemish nationalist politician in Belgium said he and his daughter have received death threats after she posed in a Muslim veil and bikini as part of his “Women Against Islamization” campaign.

Filip Dewinter, head of the far-right Vlaams Belang — or “Flemish Interest” party — used a photo of his 19-year-old daughter An-Sofie wearing only a niqab — a face-covering Islamic veil — and cloak over her swimsuit-clad body in the campaign earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported. Across her chest is the message “Freedom or Islam?“ and ”You choose!” over her hips.

According to NBC News, Vlaams Belang advocates strict immigration limits and believes new arrivals to the country should adopt the Flemish language and culture.

The point of the campaign, the Daily Mail said, is to convince Belgian women to take a stand against Islam:

Ms Dewinter told the Belgian press she does not feel used by the party.

She said: ‘I’ve suggested (the poster) myself, I have learned to live with it but I have had everything up to death threats made at me.’

She said that she ‘ wanted to make this statement.’

She added: ‘What is the greatest contrast with a niqab? Nude.

‘The campaign fits in perfectly with how I feel about the whole issue. As women, we must choose: freedom or Islam.’

Since the campaign started, Filip Dewinter told Fox News, he and An-Sofie have received hate mail and death threats.

“There were some threats, yes of course, and I’m very worried about them,” he said. “But nevertheless if nobody speaks up — she’s a grown up girl, she’s 20 years old.”

For her part, An-Sofie seemed to brush off any possible danger.

“It doesn’t scare me,” she told Fox News. “I don‘t think they’re serious. I hope not.”

    I hope every bra burning feminist is raging against the muslim faith for this. I’m amazed at how many of the bra burning news reporters you see wearing apropriate muslim garb while interviewing a muslim leader. They are so afraid of looking at all prejudice they forget their feminist roots.

      To add a little bit to my previous comment, chatholics state that they won‘t pay for birth control for workers not even that they can’t use it and the media hammers them as being represive and out of touch. Muslims send death threats to a women for wearing a bikini and it will be crickets.

      Sad irony for Europe’s feminists:
      (1) low birth rate as motherhood is disparaged
      (2) immigration from Muslim North Africa is subsidized to make up for population lost from low birth rates
      (3) new immigrants have large families (subsidized by the state)
      (4) new immigrants refuse to assimilate & retain Islamist beliefs
      (5) Muslim majority passes laws that the feminists are not too happy about
      (6) feminists can do nothing as they are part of a reviled minority (Flemish and Waloons in Belgium, Duthc in Holland, Danes in Denmark, Swedes in Sweden, etc.)
      (7) not such a sweet life for the daughters & grand daughters of the feminists.

      You are mistaken. Men and women God created them, and it was for a reason.

      Tell me, why is it that women did not save the world yet? They had ample opportunities at numerous occasions. There were matriarchal setups throughout history and none of them made it to modern times. One of the main reasons is imbalance.

      If Islam is to take a hold, it would be mainly women that would usher it. I don’t have time to explain it, but if you want, take a raincheck. But consider only the stats for now, women converts to Islam beat men 2 to 1.

      She is not brave. She is ignorant. Violent crime is soaring in Europe and the barbaric Muslims are largely responsible for the increase. Oslo, Norway had very little violent crime until the influx of Muslims and Eastern Europeans. The 44 rapes in Oslo last year were committed by Muslim men.

    Belang is right on about having strict immigration rules – re Islam for sure — that’s what we should have done in the beginning. But even then, they would just lie and pretend to be peaceful until the time they have more numbers and call jihad. That’s what they always do and is the goal. However, think it very unwise to do this ad b/c it shows they don’t understand Muslims and their mindsets/beliefs. They would love to kill both of them & I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. Shows their naivete, like us Americans and all in Europe – why is it so hard to accept how Muslims believe and then to act to prevent them coming to your country? History alone tells you. Now look what’s happening over there….soon to be here as well. They are taking full advantage of all the freedoms & ignorance, foolishness in these countries. We are all bringing it on ourselves.

    I saw the interview and noticed the only thing she said wrong was to “hope” that the death threats weren’t serious. What she should have said is “if they kill me, they prove me right”.
