Berkeley Police Too ‘Occupied’ to Deal With Brutal Beating That Left Man Dead

A man in Berkeley was beaten to death while confronting a man trespassing on his land. And according to reports, police were too busy dealing with Occupy protesters to respond.
The San Francisco Chronicle has the story explaining how an unidentified victim savagely beaten by a trespasser — suspected to be a mentally ill 23-year-old named Daniel Jordan Dewitt — attempted to call the police regarding his assailant. The call was ignored because Berkeley police were too busy dealing with Occupy Oakland protesters:
The victim had called police on a nonemergency line after first seeing Dewitt, according to sources familiar with the case. But police were busy monitoring an Occupy Oakland march to UC Berkeley, and officers were dispatched only to high-priority calls.
The trespassing call was even further ignored when an officer told the dispatcher he had plans to go check out the call, but was told not to go. Minutes later, the victim was beaten to death with a potted plant.
The alleged perpetrator, Dewitt, is a graduate of Alameda High, where he played football, as well as the grandson of a former Berkeley city councilman. His mother told authorities he had a “history of mental illness,” though of what kind, it is not known.
Occupy Oakland, on the other hand, has been far more consistent and understandable in its application of violence and trespassing. Protesters have already degenerated into violence in the city — as even the Huffington Post, which many believe is sympathetic toward the movement, reported:
A protest that shut down the Port of Oakland to show the broadening reach of the Occupy Wall Street movement ended in violence when police in riot gear arrested dozens of protesters overnight who broke into a vacant building, shattered downtown windows, sprayed graffiti and set blazes along the way.
Ironically, they claim to be the wronged party in these events. A lawsuit filed by Occupy Oakland against the city alleges that they have been the victims of excessive police brutality — brutality that offers claim was warranted, given the high amount of violence that has taken place among the protesters.

Posted on February 21, 2012 at 10:50amThe right decision, I’m sure. Once you’re dead, there really “IS” nothing you can do.
Thank goodness the police had an alibi, though.
This OWS c r a p “IS” way out of hand. It’s time to cut the losses and roll up the circus. Clean up the mess and paint over the graffiti. Repair the damaged and destroyed and return to business where we can.
Finally, I‘d see if maybe there wasn’t some kind of point that I could walk away with after all of this pointless tantrum throwing and random victimization, as part of a miserable failure of a well intended but horribly executed movement in the 1960′s revolutionary style. Shameful.
I‘d look for people that had too much 1960’s history as their background, that would be the reason ‘why’ it failed. Generally speaking. They failed then the same way. Because their tactics are wrong. Despite having met marginal success over the years. Reassessment of goals and methods would be in order.

Posted on February 21, 2012 at 7:21amThe “A” anarchy symbol and the “peace” sign are both the same logo. The “peace” sign is a cross broken turned upside down and surrounded by the earth (dirt worship). The Anarchy symbol is created by taking the arms of the cross and rotating them until the familiar “A” is formed.
Many have been deceived into taking and using this symbol of death.
The “Peace” sign is the sign of Anarchy and Death. And now they display both together in violence…on a black background.
Peace? Peace has a religion? Religion of Peace?

the PEACE SIGN history
The “fork” in the middle of the circle is how the letters “N” and “D” are spelled out using the visual signals created by extending one’s arms while holding flags. The “N” and “D” stand for “Nuclear Disarmament.”

Posted on February 21, 2012 at 10:16amI disagree with the ND hypothesis.
I too remember the story of the “peace sign” my grandfather told me that
its to symbolize a celebration of the death of Peter (And not in a good way either)
Peter was crucified upside down for Peter felt he didn’t deserve to die in the same manner as Jesus and felt humiliation was appropriate. The arms of the cross were broken by the executioners to quicken the death of Peter. And of course the circle represents the Earth. (Never said “dirt worshipers” but I get the resemblance).
Of all the years of hearing people discuss the peace sign, “ND” was NEVER mentioned and I’ve been near some WEIRD people. (dirt worshipers)
Even if they showed it in the history channel or news tomorrow, it has been implanted in me and told in story to kids as well that the peace sign is a symbol of killing the apostle Peter and in their minds, the killing of the Church.

Many of us in other parts of the country are seeing signs of these sad idiots and their destruction, but we are watching and preparing to take our stand, with or with out the radical socialists thugs now in the white house. The busy police basically have their hands tied , due to several reasons , if and when all hell brakes out, the rules of law will mean little, self preservation will rule. These fools want anarchy, they are going to see it soon and it will not be fun for any of us,period.

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 11:37pmTo the ignorant and uninformed. I live a few miles from UC Berkeley and Oakland. I have been preparing for the inevitable collapse of “civil” society that will no doubt come as a result of riots and strikes in the SF Bay area this spring, summer and fall. The unlawful trespassing on the Port of Oakland was the real indication that the local authorities have no control over the situation and it will not take much for further attacks to cascade into sympathy strikes that will rid supermarkets and gas stations of supplies. Once this happens, I believe that full scale civil disobedience and violence will erupt. The biggest catalyst, however, in my opinion, will be when Obama loses the 2012 presidential election. My family has fortified our home. We are prepared.

I hope your home is not the typical siding, insulation and sheet rock construction and you don’t have a lot of windows and doors. Most homes are not designed for defense. They are kill zones.
While I am prepared, I also know that I can’t prevent a breach because there are too many ways to get in. My wife and I can’t cover all of them. Don’t plan for an Alamo stand. Lone wolves don’t survive.
Start forming trust relationships with likeminded people. Places to connect with include your immediate neighborhood, church (doesn’t have be your faith), fraternal organisations, vet groups, etc. I am not talking about a militia. I am talking about like minded helping one another. Likeminded doesn’t need to be based on race or religion. You have to stand united to survive. Be prepared to help others. The faster a community is formed the better the chance of survival.
When “The Bad” come to your neighborhood make sure you and your friends have a tactical plan. If you can’t form a trust relationship group, have a escape and evasion plan.
I don’t want to sound preachy or lecture you. I am no expert but I have given a lot of thought to this. I got some great input several months ago from another Blaze poster. His/Her comments steered me in the right direction.
All my neighbors in our cul de sac are either veterans, law enforcement or understand the need for protecting ourselves. We have plans in place for a variety of senarios.

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 11:08pmDo not fear the riots, just be prepared. Like the Ca wild fire that roared around us a couple of years ago, preceded by panic for those caught unprepared, those of us who were ready got out in time to a safe location with our prized possessions, mostly photos and fam heirlooms, and when it was over, within a year all was green again, old homes that had burned were built anew. The riots will cleanse some of the most vile places in this country, afterwards, morticians, construction etc will have work, life will go on and we will have culled some of the lowest human bile on the planet!

Posted on February 20, 2012 at 10:49pmI’m not sure what all this is going to lead to. We had the riots in Watts in the 60′s, practically burned the place to the ground. We had the Rodney King uprising and again the places were going up in smoke. Chicago during the Dem convention.Philly, ,etc. If we look at all these past riot events they really didn’t all erupt simultaneously. I’m afraid what the Occupy movement wants to do is to get the ire of the public high enough to start responding violently against them. Unfortunately IF normal people start defending themselves with real weapons and some of these fool get killed the powers that be will declare Marshall Law. Under that premise I’m afraid they would try to start “collecting and confiscating” all of the registered guns nationwide. Maybe I need a tin-foil hat but that is where I see all this going.
