Bernanke Admits: Inflation Rising

While he did announce the Federal Reserve will end its second round of quantitative easing on schedule, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke admitted that inflation will rise, which was the fear of those who criticized the program in the first place.
CNBC reports:
In his first regular news conference, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank was continuing its stimulus policy because it was projecting slower growth in the economy with only a modest uptick in inflation.
Wednesday‘s event marks the first regularly scheduled news conference by a Fed chairman in the central bank’s 97-year history.
The Fed cut its growth estimate for 2011 to between 3.1 percent and 3.3 percent from a January forecast of 3.4 percent to 3.9 percent.
The Fed also raised its estimate of inflation this year to a range of 2.1 percent to 2.8 percent, taking into account a recent surge in oil prices. However, it bumped its core inflation forecasts only marginally to a 1.3 percent to 1.6 percent range.
That’s a much different picture than the Associated Press decided to paint:
The Fed downplayed inflation risks. It acknowledged a spike in oil prices, but concluded that the pickup in inflation will be temporary.
Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke spoke at a historic news conference after the meeting. It was the first time in the Fed’s 98-year history that a chairman has begun holding regular sessions with reporters.
Bernanke said Fed officials expect the moderate economic recovery to continue after weak growth in the first three months of the year.

He is low functioning due to memory issues PTSD/TBI, and is unable to be left alone. Living on the fixed budget is very difficult for us with raising costs of essential items. Even, if he was able to overcome the symptoms of his PTSD/TBI he physically would be unable to work most employment. I am his caregivers and gave up a career and earning potentialto stay home and care for him. We have 4 children to raiseand it’s very difficult and challenging to provide for them on this fixed income. Many family members helpful suggest that I return to work. Or even better- my husband and I should have planned better and maybe chosen to have fewer children. I was shocked to learn many of our family members feel like we live off “the dole” for everything since we live solely off his disability benefits. Which my own mother pointed out comes 100% from the government and tax dollars. With no COLA and raising costs of food, gas and energy hitting upwards of 65% we both stress what is to come financially in the next 5 years. I hope everyday that my husband can regain his ability to care for himself, that I can return to the workforce, that my husband could shrug off the shame and depressionhe carries around being a grown man unable to care for himself or his children, that one day we may have the same quality of life which we at one point enjoyed. Until then we just pray and cope the best that we can. We try to heal our family. I hope that Veteran benefits change, improve and that the public’s attitude changes.

it was not called that until 1978 so, why does it say that now ????? he was born in 61
The facility was originally founded by Queen Kapiolani as the Kapilani Maternity Home in 1890 for which she held bazaars and luaus to raise $8,000 needed to start the Home. Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital opened in 1909 named for Emma Kauikeolani Napoleon Mahelona (18621931), the wife of Albert Spencer Wilcox (1844-1919).[1] In 1978, it merged with Kapiolani Maternity Home to become Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 6:25pmI think you’re reading it wrong. The present day name is “Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children.” In 1961, there were two hospitals “Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital“ and ”Kapi‘olani Maternity Home.” Obama’s CoLB says “KAPIOLANI MATERNITY & GYNECOLOGICAL HOSPITAL.” That is far closer to the old name than the present day name.
You’re freaking out over the words “Home” and “& Gynecological Hospital.” If there was a difference than I wasn’t born in a hospital but rather a foundation. Give it up.

Like back to school maybe, as he and Obama must have both flunked math. If it was just a financial collapse in this country, that would be bad enough, but the reason they want to bring us down is to force this nation into their New World Order. They know we would not go any other way. This has been on the table for a long time, and they finally have things where they want them. What they don’t know would sink a big ship; the Bible prophecies a last days world empire, and it’s run by a dude named Antichrist. The one thing that might generate God’s mercy in America is to stand up for Israel, but Obama won’t even do that! So we kill babies, and do all that other stuff that got Sodom and Gamorah toasted and we are really arrogant enough to think it’s OK for us? NOT. Time to dust the Bible off, dear hearts. I’ve taught Bible prophecy for 45 years, and WE ARE THERE! God is our only hope, through Jesus, His Son. He loves each of you, so give Him a chance. He loves the Muslims, too, so save your anger and fear for the radical Islamists, the Shiites like Amhadinejad who can’t wait to toss a few nukes at us and Israel. It can be scary but I know the Lord, and He is in charge. I’m sure He has a good laugh when Obama and Bernanke and the rest of that bunch hunch over their secret meetings. They think they are so cool but where that road ends for such people, it’s not cool…..ya’ know.

Beck, Schiff, Celente etc have all said this is coming but the worst apart about it is how they are keeping rates low while running the printing press. Let’s see if I can help, tho I’m no expert.
As I understand, the QE2 was little more than printing new dollars and more or less flooding the market. Each new paper bill deflated the value of those already out there, because there aren’t enough precious commodities like gold, silver, and platinum to back them up. The same with the bonds. All are basically backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.
Years ago, paper money was issued in gold and silver certificates, payable in the metal to the holder on demand. You could walk into a bank, drop down a $1 silver certificate, and receive $1 in silver. And, until 1964, coins were mostly silver. We stopped minting gold coins in the 30s.
Now, what good is paper, really? They’re basically promissory notes, held as the go-to currency of the world since about 1955. Everything, at exchange, is based on the dollar. If the world decided to use the Euro as the base currency, then all that American paper money held around the world comes back to us–with the demand that we produce the precious metals in return to the holders.
If that happens, we can say goodbye to Hollywood (like the song goes). And to the United States.
No one knows how much gold and other metals are in Fort Knox. As a matter of fact, no president can go in there without an Executive Order allowing him to go in, the security is that tight. People who work there too long, who start becoming too knowledgeable of the system, are summarily dismissed.
If the world starts trading in its dollars and bonds in bulk, we are screwed.
That’s basically it, the short version as I understand it.
Aren’t you glad you woke up this morning?

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 5:25pm@Upstate where are you getting your facts from? The US dollar is not backed by gold or any other precious metals and hasn’t been since Nixon. Foreign holders of currnecy would have to exchange their dollars at the current exchange rate for what ever new currency that replaces it, they could not ask for gold to make up the lost value.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 6:01pmAnyone with any intelligence knew inflation would occur…..Anyone with any intelligence understands there is no return or fixing the trouble WE THE PEOPLE have caused….
You will have one side blaming and hating BO for everything bad in our country while another side will blame Bush and his cronies blah blah blah…. Fact of the matter it is our own fault for being greedy, for turning from God and for breaking virtually every commandment we are to adhere to given by God…
It is quite ironic all those gnashing teeth and pointing fingers usually are the same ones with their hands out for Medicare, Medicaid, social security, welfare, WIC, etc…..If you have your hand out while you complain your a hypocrite…..
America has become Godless….The Roman Catholics, whom proclaim the pope is Christ, worship the anti-Christ….The Protestants, whom got the name Protest-Ant for protesting the Anti Christ Catholics, now bow to the pope and worship on his declared Sunday which goes against the commandments…..Then you have the plain old Pagans…..America has become Godless and because of our wicked ways, wicked things are occurring….It is not BO‘s fault or Bush’s fault, it is OURS for turning from God….The only way to fix our wickedness is to turn to God and stop looking for a “man” to fix it…..

I know how it works. We still have an exchange rate but, if the dollar tanks and the world reserve currency is changed to the Euro, do we have enough Euros on hand to do the exchange on demand? I doubt it. So, the only recourse for other countries holding vast sums of dollars is to demand gold and such to sustain their own economies.
Paper money and exchange rates are abstracts, almost theoretical. For example, if you can buy/exchange a Euro for two dollars today, but tomorrow you need four dollars to secure a Euro, those countries holding those dollars just lost half the value of their dollar holdings against the Euro. If the slide continues, the only logical recourse will be to demand hard commodities if those countries want to save their own economies.
The time is long past when we controlled half the Gross Global Product and could basically dictate terms, conditions, and outcomes. If the IMF gets together and demands we pay our creditors in gold, silver, and platinum, we have no choice other than default.
Most of the trading is done by computer. Imagine a major failure of that system for sixty seconds, either by accident or design. Billions, if not more, could simply vanish; Trump could literally go from prince to pauper before you and me brew our morning’s first cup of coffee. I know there are safeguards and backups, but nothing is perfect.
What we have done since Nixon is remove all the barriers that keep stable economies in check–like issuing no more paper money than is worth the value of gold reserves in the Treasury. Since we’re on an abstract system that is starting to crush under its own weight, worldwide, the only recourse I see is that at some point is we’re going to have to return to what worked for centuries: hard currency.
And we don’t have it.

————————————————–
We sure as heck didn’t need him to tell us that, just go and buy some groceries every week and you will see it for yourself.
Everyone thinks that high gas prices and inflation affecting food, clothing, etc, will be the downfall of Obama in the next election. For those of you that think that, I have a message for you… DON’T COUNT ON IT!
I fully expect this next election to be the dirtiest, nastiest, ugliest, most expensive, and possibly the most crooked ever in our nations history. The Obama machine will stop at NOTHING to make sure he stays in the White House for 4 more years, and possibly longer. Yeah, I know he can’t serve more than that, but this gives you an idea how much I trust him and his administration. Do you really think Eric Holder would uphold the law if Obama was to stay longer than he should????
The only way to make sure that Obama cannot win (legally), is to produce a candidate to run against him that ends up winning by an overwhelming landslide. I think the only person today that can do this is Col. Allen West. Our poll results gives us that insight…

Then on top of that, the Oboozler, is playing the race and class cards, whipping up the frenzy, so he can do his top down thing, but he will be in for a rude awakening when he does!!!!! Posted on April 28, 2011 at 1:57amThe rate of inflation cannot be that low. the price of gas has gone up almost a third and gold has doubled in the last year. All signs point to 30% in the last year alone people. Why do you think the stocks have rebounded as quickly and fully as they have? The answer is stagflation. I‘m not sure how much more it’ll go though. I’m just crossing my fingers hoping that the fed stops printing and issuing credits for a while so the actual wealth builders can produce the products to back up the funny money.

“In a speech in Phoenix last November, Governor Palin warned that Obama’s long-discredited Keynesian fiscal policies combined with Ben Bernanke’s ill-conceived efforts to monetize Obama’s debt was causing inflation, particularly in the food and energy sectors. She noted that Bernanke’s plan to print another $600 billion through yet another round of quantitative easing (QE2) would only exacerbate the problem going forward……” > http://conservatives4palin.com/2011/04/new-york-sun-sarah-palin-for-the-fed.html
