‘Best Show I’ve Ever Seen’: Why Beck Spent Epic Half-Hour on Radio Praising Spider-Man Musical

The new Spider-Man musical doesn’t have too many fans. The production, the most expensive in Broadway history, has been riddled with accidents and poor reviews. Certainly, no major media figure has fawned over, and endorsed, the production. And certainly no media figure would claim the show espouses an anti-liberal view.
Until now.
For almost 30 minutes on his radio show Wednesday, Glenn Beck gave the production rave reviews after seeing it over the weekend. “This is by far the best show I’ve ever seen,” he said. He even went as far as to encourage people to fly to New York just to see it: “This show is not only worth worth the price of a ticket here on Broadway, which is pricey, it is worth the price of an airline ticket from Los Angeles or Hawaii to come to New York to see it.”
Later, Beck defended his endorsement, saying the storyline reflects current events by setting up the antagonist as one who adopts liberal ideas. “This is the best show I’ve ever seen, bar none”:
“Come from Nebraska to see it,” he said.
“Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” officially opens in New York in February. It is currently running previews.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 8:37pmThe best thing that could happen to Broadway and New York‘s liberal residents is for them to owe their economic revival to America’s Conservative Prince who they malign continuously but who can sell more books and move more people than all the shameless liberal media combined: NYT, CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC… At the Movies with King Limbaugh. I’M LOVIN IT!

Just google Beck + Gold Standard, and see what I mean.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 8:39pmInteresting take on things Foolsgold.
From the absolute facts that we do know about this Loughner person:
He liked to smoke pot. Would you agree that weed made him a killer?
He listened to music. Are you ready to charge that a song drove him to kill?
He like Mein Kamph and the Communist Manifesto. Perhaps Hitler or Karl Marx incited him during a “lucid dream”?
He had it in for Giffords since 2007. Are you going to blame Giffords for this maniac’s shooting spree?
He hated poor grammar. Perhaps it’s posts from tools like yourself that drove him over the edge?
Yes. That’s it. It was YOU that incited this unstable individual to go on a kill crazy rampage. That’s all the evidence you need. Isn’t it?

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 3:13pmHaving read the descriptions in the reviews, it seems like a good spectical, but not a show that appeals to me. Still, I hope it does find an audience instead of killing the carrers of a talented people.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 2:25pmDid you know that Bono has a charity organization called ONE? Also, did you know that of all the money that is donated to Bono’s charity organization ONE. One percent that is donated actually goes to help the needy and 99 percent of the funds go to the people that actually run the organization. WHAT?
Stronge
Posted on January 12, 2011 at 11:58pm@hot22dog – what you say is actually misleading, though, isn’t it? The ONE Foundation is an advocacy and campaigning organisation, not a grant-making one. And it doesn’t solicit donations from the general public. This information is all readily available on their website.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 2:08pmI’ve been following the production of Spider Man for over a year now… I was really hoping it would be good… glad to know Beck likes it. I’ll definitely try to see it. :)
Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along” was a great show–it bombed only because it had so many previews. Everyone thought that only a bad show would run so many preview shows, and rumors spread faster than fact. Too bad. Hope that doesn’t happen with Spidey!

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 2:29pmGod forbid he should go off topic. I mean he probably only spends 12 hours a day focusing on politics and world events and how they may effect you and me. So Glenn “get a life” sorry correction “loose your life”, just because it is your radio program, and just because you busted your butt for years to build it, doesn’t mean you have a right to tell us about a good way to spend a little downtime. And while we are on the topic next time you are in Philly keep your eating habits to yourself. From now on show a little respect for the few minutes every day we take to listen to you for what is important, if we don’t have that we might have to take even more time out of our lives to find out for ourselves.

Posted on January 12, 2011 at 5:02pmI agree with 99% of what Glenn says now. My friend and his wife who’s a huge fan of plays said it will be great and we must go see it! It was 3 hours of my life I will never get back. It was a waste of time and a waste of money. The four of us who went and saw it all agreed that it wasn’t worth seeing. You could tell that it cost a lot of money to produce, so you would think it would be better. But don’t take my word for it that is just my opinion. I’d rate it a 2/10
