‘Betrayal’: New Paul Ad Savages Santorum

Ron Paul’s campaign is out with a new attack ad, this time setting its sights on surging rival Rick Santorum.

Titled “Betrayal,” the one-minute spot paints the former Pennsylvania senator as “the worst in Washington,” hitting him for voting to raise the debt ceiling and accusing him of taking money from lobbyists and siding with union bosses over workers.

The ad will air South Carolina starting Monday, one week out from the state’s primary.

As Politico noted, this is the first time the Texas congressman has gone after Santorum in a TV ad. It strongly resembles the anti-Newt Gingrich spot the Paul campaign ran in Iowa, which helped bring the former House Speaker’s numbers down before the caucuses, and could potentially have a similar effect on Santorum.

Just days out from the New Hampshire primary, a poll released Friday had Mitt Romney in first place at 40 percent among likely Republican voters in the state, Paul in second place at 17 percent and Santorum third with 11 percent.

Give Ron Paul a couple of weeks and he will deny he ever endorsed this ad. Just like he did with all those antisemitic letters with his name on them. If you can’t run a news letter and take responsibility for it. Then how can we let him take the responsibility of running a complex nation as ours?

Well, the worst I have heard about Rick Santorum is that he has thrown in with those same religious BIGOTS who savaged JFK for being Catholic when he ran for President. So Rick Santorum, who is a Roman Catholic, has thrown in with those Evangelicals who want to prevent the Mormon Romney from becoming President. Hmmmm Maybe Rick the “Jesus” candidate Santorum is proving that he is willing to do ANYTHING it takes to get the nomination? Not the integrity we were hoping for in a candidate for 2012.

When did Catholics become Christians to the Evangelicals anyway? And don’t try to play us by saying that Evangelicals were ALWAYS supportive of Catholics. Too many of us Blazers are history buffs to be manipulated by that kind of nonsense.

Riligious Bigots??? Well isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black :-)
Paul’s brand of libertarianism is shared with the frequently overlapping John Birch Society, Constitution Party and Conservative Caucus (both founded by Howard Phillips), and the American branch of the Austrian School of Economics – the Ludwig von Mises Institute. Like Paul, these groups are located on the ultra-conservative end of the political spectrum. Their distinguishing feature is a brand of libertarianism in which the federal government is to be dramatically reduced in favor of “states’ rights” and, as described by the Constitution Party, local application of “jurisprudence based on biblical foundations.” This is theocratic libertarianism, the type of libertarian “freedom” promoted by Christian Reconstructionist Rousas J. Rushdoony. Theocratic libertarianism may sound like an oxymoron, but it appeals to a segment of the American population that could never embrace Ayn Rand’s atheistic Objectivism. It draws heavily from those in the South who still harbor anti-federal government animosity left over from the Civil War and Cold War warriors who sanctified capitalism as the godly alternative to atheistic communism. Read More, it gets better….

Ron Paul Letter to the GOP
“I want to totally disassociate myself from the policies that have given us unprecedented deficits, massive monetary inflation, indiscriminate military spending, an irrational and unconstitutional foreign policy, zooming foreign aid, the exaltation of international banking, and the attack on our personal liberties and privacy,” he wrote in a letter offering advice to the Republican party: not a letter about the Obama administration — a letter about the Reagan administration. It’s easy to attempt to lump Santorum in with the rest of the progressives. What most people don’t realize is he got caught up in the old school business as usually during his first experience into politics in Washington, D.C. Almost every House member and Senator who is newly elected falls into the trap of the compromise game played by the progressives. It has been difficult, but the TEA party has done a great job of identifying those candidates that can go to Washington and put their feet down against the pork spending and compromising of the progressive establishment.
Romney is a new school progressive. Who will be easily defeated by Obama once the media begins it’s attacks on his religion.
Gingrich is an old school progressive. He has enough baggage and reminds too many people of an old racist.
Paul is an old school liberal, that calls himself a libertarian. He has dangerous international policies, dangerous domestic ideas about legalizing drugs and will be attacked as a racist by the mainstream media if nominated.
Santorum has a chance to step in and defend all religions and particularly Christianity, which has been taken out of our schools and government at an alarming rate, even though those are the morals, ethics and values used to establish this great nation.

The socialist have worked hard since WWII to remove our Christian-Judeo values from our country in order to defeat America. Without those values re established in our country our freedom is doom

@heavyduty Here‘s Paul’s response in an interview: (Go to the 5:30 mark) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLonnC_ZWQ0

      - Interviewer: But you made money off of them?
      - Paul: I was still practicing medicine. That‘s probably why I wasn’t a very good publisher because I had to make a living.
      - Interviewer: But there are reports that you made a million dollars off of them in 1993.
      - Paul: I’d like to see that money.
      - Interviewer: But would you give it back?
      - Paul: To whom?
      - Interviewer: But if you made money off of them and you disavowed them.
      - Paul: Really?
      - Interview: Well, to charity.
      - Paul: That’s nonsense.
      - Interviewer: If you made money off of them and you disavowed it.
      - Paul: You know, I didn’t write them. I don’t endorse those views. And I’ve explained it many times.
      - Interviewer: So you read them but never did anything about them?
      - Paul: I never read that stuff. I probably became aware of it ten years after it was written. And it’s been going on twenty years that people have pestered me about this. And CNN does every single time… I didn’t write them. I didn’t read at the time. And I disavow them.
      - Interviewer: But you made money off of them.
      - Paul: If you know I made money off of them then you know more about my finances than I do… It was published for ten years. So if that was ONE PERCENT of all the newsletters, I MADE MONEY TALKING ABOUT GOLD STOCKS. I think you’re really confused on that.

Ron Paul is also amonng 3 wo do not want to allow the 2 greates weapons against America to exist. THat being man made global warming, and thetax code. MS PATRIOT, very true. Is Santorum the perfect candidate? No, but you will never find one, but Santorum is a more viable candidate than Mitt Romney or Ron Paul and probably Gingrich. Santorum has more integrity than the rest of the field, and is not necessarily a big spender, and in fact helped navigate the welfare reform bill through the Senate in 1996, which significantly reduced welfare benefits, and welfare eligibility – definitely a good thing. Just be cause he voted for increasing the national debt does not make him an unacceptable candidate. The economy was not quite as visibly in deep trouble, and there is little doubt that Santorum is not aware of our present dire straits, and more than others, he has the integrity to make the right decisions. He has no doubt learned more than likely learned from his past mistakes. You can not pin the label flip flopper on him. He is as pro life as one can be, and when you really get down to the nitty gritty, there is no middle ground in that arena. in addition, you will not see Santorum sell out Israel.

That is why the cloture vote had only 38 of the 53 GOP senators voting for cloture. They had just won the senate and only had 53 GOP including those RINOs they always have up north. **********************************************************************************************************

So Paul‘s 11 terms in 23yrs doesn’t make him a “career politician? Your so full of it!
And Paul is not even a very sucessful one either.

Paul, who has served 11 terms in three different stages dating back to 1976, didn’t get a single law passed until 2009, when he authored a bill that allowed for the sale of a customs house in Galveston, Texas. Failure is often the norm in Congress, where only 4 percent of proposed bills get a President’s signature, but Paul’s approach to lawmaking is particularly suited to not getting things done.

Of the 620 bills sponsored by Ron Paul during his long career in the House of Representatives, only four have ever made it to a vote on the House floor and only one of those became an actual law. An analysis by The Washington Post shows that Paul’s success rate of 0.2 percent falls far below that of most legislators, as Paul has chosen to stand up for his personal crusades, rather that build coalitions for more popular, but less ambitious, proposals.

“Paul’s success rate of 0.2 percent falls far below that of most legislators, as Paul has chosen to stand up for his personal crusades, rather that build coalitions for more popular, but less ambitious, proposals.”

In my opinion that is exactly why Paul should NOT be labeled as a career politician. He easily could have have advanced his career by going along with the establishment, but instead he was willing to risk stagnating his career by no compromising on his beliefs.

As far as I see it, a career politician will do and say anything to get re-elected. This simply cannot be used to describe Dr. Paul.

“I’ll say it again: Ron Paul’s vote has exactly the same weight as everyone else in Congress.”

You are right, Ron Paul took an oath to execute his duties as a member of the House of Representatives, yet he failed to show up to vote against the NDAA, a bill he supposedly opposes. He didn’t bother to take a few hours out of his day to vote against something he considers dangerous to American rights and freedom. Instead, he decided to ignore his congressional responsibilities in order to remain on the campaign trail. You’d think a self-proclaimed libertarian would do his job when bills as important as the NDAA come up?

If any of the other candidates would come out against it, I’d consider voting for the lesser to two evils again, but I’ve had enough. I really wish they’d listen, but no one will openly support it and their candidates won’t repudiate it. They simply move on and ignore it as if it doesn’t exist. A devout Catholic, Santorum has been a consistent advocate for pro-life issues, but in key political moves that could have benefited his own career, Santorum backed pro-abortion candidates.

Early in the George W. Bush administration, along with Dick Armey, Tom DeLay, and Grover Norquist, Santorum was at the center of the Republicans’ tactic of pressuring lobbying firms to hire only Republicans. At regularly scheduled once-weekly meetings held since Republicans took Congress and in 1994, Santorum and other leading Republicans were provided with a list of job openings at lobbying companies, and literally told the lobbyists who to hire — always well-connected Republicans. It was called the “K Street Project” because most lobbying firms have offices on Washington’s K Street, but the system backfired when the lobbyists’ “freeze-out” of Democrats became so successful that all the legislators on the take from crooked lobbyist Jack Abramoff were Republicans. When the arrangement was first reported in 2006, Santorum denied it was true and claimed to not even know Abramoff. When it was proven that Abramoff had been involved, Santorum announced that the “K Street” meetings had been ended. Months later it was reported that the meetings between lobbyists and Republicans were still being held at the same time, place, and day, once weekly. Oh my gosh, enough! All candidates have a list of undesirable things they have done, including your beloved Paul. Quite taking up so much space with your laundry lists.

VECHORIK, your website post for Santorum’s mortgage problem is inaccurate, but the other posts are accurate and true. Santorum had more than one opportunity to admit and/or correct his fraud on Pennsylvania taxpayers , and instead of admitting and fessing up, he lied about it and got caught again. Along with his miserable non-conservative voting record, it definitely appears he is not Presidential timber, whether you are trying to turn the country around or not. He will be eaten alive by the lame stream media and deservedly so.

Still don’t have a viable candidate, as Ron Paul still has some significant issues, many of which come from his foreign policy and his stance towards Israel.

We still may need someone else to reconsider and jump in – Sarah Palin would be a definite posibility. She has the integrity, is not a Washington insider, and is not afraid to buck the system nor the elitists, one world government types. Nor does she have issues or baggage.

Ps. She could eat Obama’s lunch in a debate, along with his breakfast and dinner.

Paul made calls & ran ads saying Santorum was pro-choice and not conservative in Iowa. It didn’t hurt Santorum there, because the attacks are absurd. I doubt anyone in SC will be listening to Paul’s lies either. Really sad. Make points on issues, but dont make up stuff against a fellow republican just to win. It shows lack of character.

I can say Santorum is disgusting. What does that prove? Nothing.

Who is the most negative candidate in the 2012 election race for Republicans? Ron Paul is the dirtiest and most negative campaigner in the 2012 Republican race for president.

Ron Paul has gone negative since day one. He has lied. He has smeared. He has distorted. Ron Paul has so much dirt in his past, he’s hoping the dirt he throws will distract everyone from his dirt.

      HEY! Bring on the Dirt!

We have handled all of the fabrications and machinations. Does anyone have any actual dirt?

No. All they can do is close each of their interviews with the same questions about a 3rd party Run or the newsletter Articles and primers that he did not write.

Now they want to pin him in as a Dove on Iran, which we are not lilly-white on, but everyone else seeks to use violence to control the wife after we already broke her cheek.

      Yeah, right.

      Get real!

I remember just before the debate at the Reagan Library when the Paul campaign released a negative smear ad about Rick Perry blah-blah-blah. The ad showed Paul as a young Congressman Paul who “stood with Ronald Reagan” and this booming voice over… Blah-blah-blah. That was the start of the newest Ron Paul Revolution of BS and partial truth smear. Don’t waste my time with your Ron Paul spin.

Paul “stood with Reagan”… what a crock of crap.

you must be so happy with status quo, because either Santorum or Romney will stud up to UN, FED and rest of the globalists. Read some more, so maybe you will learn, people who stud up to the The Bank usually had “call” on them. Jackson, Lincoln, JFK.

@SOCIALISM. I‘ve been reading since the late 1950’s. How about you? I‘ve probably been voting longer than you’ve been alive and actually saw John F. Kennedy on his campaign trail. Most of you Paul followers are newbies to a lot of things, not just politics.

This is coming from the attention-seeker who named himself “Time to end the Paul Campaign in 12”.

Do you think you have an ounce of objectivity that anyone needs to care about? Stop deluding yourself. All of that haranguing and juvenile ad hominem attacks on Ron Paul and his supporters aren’t convincing anyone, what it’s doing is making you look like a desperate, frothing-at-the-mouth fool.

What you’re more likely to cause is the opposite outcome of what you are trying to affect, people are likely to rebel against your heavyhandedness and manic-like pressure and vote for Ron Paul just to make you burst a blood vessel.

      Who are you voting for?
