Biden Brings up Rep. Ryan‘s Deceased Father While Questioning the Congressman’s Values

Vice President Joe Biden on Monday brought up Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) deceased father while questioning the Wisconsin congressman’s values:

“My dad used to have another saying, for real,” Biden said to a crowd in Durham, North Carolina. “And, by the way, I’ve been saying this for 30 years. And I’m glad to see that Congressman Ryan likes his dad, too, and quotes his dad. I mean that sincerely. But my dad [had] a lot of wisdom.”

“Every time someone tells you, say, ‘Look, let me tell you what’s important to me, what I value.’ My dad would go, ‘No, no. Don’t tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I will tell you what you value,’” he added.

Rep. Ryan’s father passed away when he was only 16-years-old.

Watch Biden address Rep. Ryan’s record at the 28:30 mark [via WRAL]:

Final Thought: Reaction to this video has been generally of the furious variety, and one can certainly see how the vice president’s comments do come off as inappropriate. However, they’re vague enough that no insult may have been intended.

What do you think?

Even IF (big if there) Biden’s dad talked about budgets with him I would have to ask Joe and Barrack where in the hell is their budget? Why hasn’t the Hypocrats put forward a budget? Why right do they have to talk about anyone elses budget right, wrong, or indifferent when they can’t even be bothered to put one forward? Hell at least Ryan has proposed a budget and a sensible one at that.

Hey Joe! Show us YOUR budget!

My dad died 34 years ago. The statement about Ryan liking his dad. Nothing is wrong there. As I said My dad has been gone for 34 years. I still like him. So… there was nothing wrong with that statement.

That being said. Two OK statements from Biden does not a trend make. He is OK saying Ryan likes his dad, he is also correct stating Obama inherited a 1.5 trillion dollar deficit. But what did he do with the 1.5 Trillion dollar deficit? He added his own 5.5 Trillion as icing on the cake.

When you lose a parent at a young age it affects you differently, my best friend growing up lost his father at the age of ten and a switch went off in him that later in life I could only envy.
At 10 our friendship changed because he took on a man’s responsibilities, but the subject of his father was difficult for him even into adulthood because of his age when he past.
Point: some personal things should be just that personal!

My father passed away at age 56 at the beginning of my senior year in high school. Something does happen to you. Part of your childhood is replaced by adulthood. I resent Biden mentioning Ryan‘s father and throwing the not so subtle jab that his father had wisdom and Ryan’s did not.

My parents were Democrats. They would not recognize their political party today.

Biden is a mean-spirited person. Folks say he is likeable. BS on that.
