Biden Calls Obama ‘Great Man’ — Says GOP Medicare Plan and Bin Laden’s Death Will Help Dems

Joe Biden sees victory on the horizon!
In a speech on Wednesday evening, the vice-president unleashed his theory that the GOP‘s Medicare plan and Bin Laden’s death both have voters looking more favorably at President Obama. These two pivotal developments, says Biden, will fundamentally change the way that voters think about some of the more controversial and unpopular decisions the president has made thus far. Politico, has more:
“The American people now … have a crystal clear picture of how strong and decisive this president is. And that’s the last piece of the puzzle that had to be put in place for this great man.
The American people will no longer confuse being contemplative with being a coward. People are now beginning to take a second look at those incredibly difficult but absolutely necessary decisions the president had to make the day we walked into the West Wing.”
While the president did, indeed, experience a surge in the days following the Bin Laden raid, his numbers could have gone higher. While certainly not comparable in terms of magnitude, President George W. Bush shot up from the 50s in the weeks preceding Sept. 11 to at least 90 percent during the weeks following. To compare, some polls saw Obama move from the 40s up to the high 50s following Bin Laden’s death. Not exactly earth-shattering.
Currently, Obama’s job approval rating stands at 52.5 percent, with 42.6 of the nation disapproving. While Biden believes that Medicare and Bin Laden may be the key to changes in public perception, it seems the economy will have a greater impact. We shall see. And 60 plus folks like me, drag their arthritic bodies out of bed each day and do 3 peoples jobs, and do a good job of it…never taken a dime off the government, and only PRAY we don’t have to pay even thousands more in taxes each year because we go out and work 12 hour days??? Have you noticed how much less specific the criticism of Obama is here recently? Sure there are the same people that post here non-stop that use these friendly confines as a comforting echo chamber. But lets face it, there are probably fewer than five conservatives on this board whose comments are EVER worth reading in their entirety…and please don’t challenge me to name them, I couldn’t. Just think, this group makes up the base of the GOP, these are the de-facto kingmakers of the GOP primary field! I think your critique illuminated this vacuum of critical thought quite well….and demonstrates a deeper problem for the GOP….and specifically the problem for the “dead-enders” that post here morning, noon and night. Their message (or lack thereof), is appreciated essentially by those in their own group…while the remaining *majority* of the country merely roll their eyes as I‘m sure you and I would both agree we do daily while sifting through this blazin’ trash. Under Obama, daily crude oil prices have been 41% higher on average and the average weekly retail gasoline price has been 25% higher. Average monthly housing starts are 66% lower under Obama. Do I really need to keep going?
