Biden: Obama ‘Rage’ Article is ‘Science Fiction’

Vice President Joe Biden appeared with Rachel Maddow yesterday and chided Newt Gingrich for echoing Dinesh D‘Souza’s new “garbage” article in Forbes, which suggests Barack Obama‘s policies are a reflection of his father’s ideas.
The article, titled “How Obama Thinks” and adopted from D‘Souza’s new book The Roots of Obama’s Rage, explains how Obama has been influenced by his father’s anti-colonial thinking. Gingrich called the article the “most profound insight I have read in the last six years about Barack Obama.”
But Biden used D‘Souza’s article to point out how Washington is losing moderate voices. “Look at that Forbes magazine article about the president,” he told Maddow. “If you read it, the article reads like science fiction. … And guys like Newt Gingrich repeating that garbage?”
The vice president dismissed the article, and Gingrich’s support of it, as an attempt to discredit one of the greatest politicians in recent memory:
I mean, this is kind of — what’s happened on the Republican side. … When you can’t compete in ideas, what you do is the same playbook out of the conservative playbook. You try to delegitimize the other guy. That’s what’s going on … the attempt to delegitimize one of the most talented men to enter American politics in three generations.
Yesterday, Glenn Beck interviewed D’Souza about the article:
(Editor’s note: In the spirit of full disclosure, I want to point out that D’Souza is the president of my Alma mater, The King’s College-New York City.)

I‘m not implying that he wasn’t born here. The fact is; I don’t know if he was or not because he refuses to provide a copy of his original birth certificate and so does the Governor of Hawaii

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 11:17amUNIONROCKSTAR, well said. I have not once questioned whether or not this president is a born citizen, although I reason that it‘s likely as his mother probably couldn’t afford to do much globe-trotting as a single pregnant woman back then, although I could be wrong. But, since it has been brought up so many times, I would think that any reasonable person would have long ago plastered copies of my birth certificate all over the place, billboards, the internet, telephone poles, therefore there must be something fishy going on. Why would anyone subject their heritage to this?

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 12:44pmI‘m happy to see in Glenn’s video that he made it clear that Mr. D‘Souza’s new book is not a “Birther” book. To date, I have seen no hard evidence that Mr. Obama was born anywhere other than the State of Hawaii. However, I would include myself in the camp of the “Constitutionalists” which believe that the “natural born Citizen” clause of Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the US Constitution means naturally-attained citizenship where the person is born on U.S. soil to two U.S citizens, which would preclude dual citizenship. This status as a “natural born Citizen” is something that takes place at one’s birth. It is not something you can obtain later. It is also not something that can be granted to you by the 14th Amendment and not something that you can have taken away from you (unless you officially renounce your U.S. citizenship). The inclusion of the term “natural born Citizen” was a security requirement intentionally built into the U.S. Constitution by the Framers that applies to only one job in the Federal Government, and that is the requirement to be a “natural born Citizen” to hold the title of President and Commander-in-Chief of the United States. [NOTE: Please do not confuse being a US citizen or a naturalized citizen with the term “natural born Citizen”. They are NOT the same thing. Under current US law, just by being born on US soil would make Mr. Obama a US citizen (regardless of whether either parent was a US citizen at the time of his birth). The term “natural born Citizen” only appears one time in the Constitution, and that applies to the requirement to hold the office of the President of the United States. To be a member of the House or Senate, you only need to be a US citizen – but DO NOT have to be a natural born Citizen.
Obama’s father was not an immigrant to the US. He never applied for and was never granted US citizenship. He was a Kenyan and a British citizen at the time of Obama’s birth, and Obama’s own Fight the Smears campaign website admitted that Obama junior was also a British citizen when he was born.
Unfortunately for all of us, the Founders did not include a definition of who is included in the definition of “natural born Citizen”, but several individuals attempted to have the courts clear up this potential issue before Mr. Obama was sworn into office – all of which were dismissed due to a “lack of standing”. It is STILL critical that this issue be resolved by the US Supreme Court sooner rather than later. If the Court determines that have one parent (Mr. Obama’s mother) as a US Citizen with Mr. Obama born on US soil is sufficient to establish natural born Citizenship, pursuant to the intent of the drafters of Article 2 of the Constitution, then the matter is resolved in the President’s favor. However, if it turns out that the US Supreme Court determines that natual born Citizenship requires being born on US soil to two US citizens, then Mr. Obama would be ineligible to hold the position of President of the United States and then, suddenly, all legislation enacted and signed by the President would be revoked, all Supreme Court justices appointed by Mr. Obama would have to be removed, all federal judges appointed by Mr. Obama would be removed and all of the cases heard by those judges would immediatley be appealed, etc. Not a pretty picture, but better to resolve this outstanding issue now and minimize any damage that might arise should the US Supreme Court determine that the Framers intended “natural born Citizen” to require being born on US soil to two US citizen at the time of the person’s birth.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 1:22pmThe new Republican House and Senate should make sure that Congress passes a law that any one running for the office of President of the United States of America, must show his or her Birth Certificate to the Supreme Court Justices and it must be put on display for the members of the House and Senate to authorize as legitimate, along with full disclosure to the media. Making this a fundamental condition of one’s candidacy, showing proof of national origin of birth, will make any candidate unable to so, to think twice about running for the highest office in the land. Furthermore it would should and must also include proof on the part of the sitting President as well. This will smoke out and find out once and for all, the legitimate truth, about whether or not Barack Obama is a legitimate US President or not. If he isn‘t and can’t prove it in the 2012 election, watch him run as fast as he can back to his home in Chicago, and let Biden and Hillary slug it out.
Report Post »A new Republican Congress can do this if they are willing enough, and brave enough to do so. One thing’s for sure a lot of laws that were passed including Health Care will no longer be legal if Obama is unable to legitimize his place of birth. To a large extent this is why most of Washington is afraid to find out, because of the Chaos that it would create.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 2:31pmI think that it is critically important that the US Supreme Court determine the meaning of “natural born Citizen” – not just for this President, but for any/all future candidates. Can a person born in the US to one or two non-US Citizen ever serve as President? What about a person born to parents who are not yet citizens, but are here legally seeking to become citizens? What about a child born on foreign soil to US parents on a US military base? What about a child born in a foreign land to US parents in the military, but the child is born “off-base”? Would it make any difference if a child was born in the US to one US citizen and one parent that is not yet a citizen, but is going through the naturalization process and has revoke his/her foreign citizenship? What about a child born to two US parents in a US protectorate like Guam or Puerto Rico?
Again, we are not asking; “Are these people US citizens?” We are asking; “Are these people born under these circumstances eligible to serve as POTUS based on the Constitutional requirement that they be a ‘natural born Citizen’”. If the US Supreme Court determines that, based on the intent of the Framers, these individual do not meet the requirement, does it make sense to to amend Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 by removing “natural born Citizen” and replacing it with “United States Citizen” or United States Citizen born on US soil? In today’s world, is being a US Citizen sufficient? Would we have a problem with a child born in Canada who has lived in the US for the past 14 years, is at least 35 years old, and has become a US Citizen becoming a US President? What if the child was born in Iran, or Iraq, or Saudi Arabia?
2008 was the perfect time to have the US Supreme Court answer this question as it related to both Mr. Obama and Mr. MaCain (I realize that the US Senate passed a non-binding resolution affirming that Mr. McCain met the definition of “natural born Citizen”, but unfortunately, it is not within the authority of the Senate to interpret and rule on the US Constitution, that role is left to the US Supreme Court, so this no-binding resolution would not have been worth the paper that it was written on if the US Supreme Court ruled that Mr. McCain failed to meet the Constitutional definition), but the failed to do so, and We The People, may be stuck the potentially disastrous consequences should this President or a future President be later held to have failed to meet this Constitutional requirement.

Even if he wasn’t born here…it doesn’t matter anymore. He is the president now. You know that if he had been born somewhere else that they won’t strip the presidency from him over it at this point.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 5:23pmQuazza,
I have seen no verifiable evidence of any kind that conclusive proves that Mr. Obama was born anywhere other than the great State of Hawaii. Therefore, unless/until there is any verifiable, non-hearsay evidence to the contrary, I full agree with you that Mr. Obama is a United States citizen born in Hawaii.
I am not asking for proof of where he was born or if he is a US citizen. I am asking the question; “Does Mr. Obama being born to one US Citizen (his mother) and one non-US Citizen (his British father, Barack Obama Sr.) comply with Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the United State Constitution which requires the President to i) be at least 35 years of age; ii) have lived in the US for at least the past 14 years; and 3) be a natural born Citizen?”
I have found no evidence showing where the Founders clearly defined what it means to be a “natural born Citizen”. There are those out there who have stated that the Founders relied upon Vattel’s book “Law of Nations” which requires being born on US soil to two US citizens. I have also heard of people who have quoted a letter from James Madison to Thomas Jefferson at the time of the drafting of the Constitution suggesting that one of the conditions to being President and Commander in Chief be that the President have no divided loyalties and that they add the “natural born Citizenship” requirement to all persons born after enactment (and thus excluding the Founders from this Requirement since many, if not all indeed all, were British citizens at birth).
Notwithstanding the forgoing, the US Supreme Court has never specifically ruled on what the definition of “natural born Citizen” means with regard to the US Presidential Constitutional requirement. That is the question that I would like resolved. It would have been best for ALL parties involved if this had been addressed prior to the 2008 general election (giving both the Dems and Republicans the opportunity to find replacement candidates in the event the court ruled their respective candidate ineligible).
After they way Mr. Obama insulted the conservative Justices at his State of the Union speech this past year, do you really believe that the Court (with Ms. Sotomayor and Mr. Steven’s replacement being recused from ruling on the matter since they were appointed by President Obama) would balk at ruling that Mr. Obama has failed to meet the Constitution requirements to serve as President if the facts and research prove as such – and that, after this 2010 election, with a House most likely controlled by Republicans (and perhaps the Senate as well), would not seek President Obama’s immediate removal (keeping in mind that this would not be an impeachment – and impeachment is meant for a lawfully sitting President – if the Court finds that Mr. Obama never met the requirements to serve as President, then the only action is to have him removed [by force if necessary] as a usurper).
Again, I believe that this exact same ruling from the Court would be called for today if Mr. McCain had been elected President. And I think it was foolish for the Republican Party not to ask the US Supreme Court to rule on Mr. McCain’s eligibility to establish, for certain, that he had, in the US Supreme Court’s eyes, met the Constitutional requirements. To find out before the election would have been embarrassing. To find out AFTER if your candidate won and then had to be removed would have been the biggest political blunder in US History.
We shall see how History plays out – but imagine the embarrassment if all of the legislation passed since President Obama’s inauguration had to be repealed and revoked. Imagine if this Supreme Court ruling takes place after 2012 and the two liberal Supreme Court justices appointed by Mr. Obama are removed from the bench (since they were not properly nominated by a valid US President) and, at that time, there is a Republican President along with a Republican majority in the House and Senate – it could lead to a massive ideological shift to the right on the bench, and if the two conservative replacement nominees are in there late 40‘s or early 50’s, it could mean a heavily leaning Conservative court for the next 30 to 40 years.
Shame on America, the media, and the US Senate for not doing its job and clear up this matter before the 2008 elections.

This quy can’t even get the job numbers right from the stimulus program and his state is ready to give his seat to a Republican challenger stands against big government, big spending and the good ole’boy network.
1. First this is not a tax cut. It is a TAX INCREASE. Obama wants to increase taxes, not cut them. Keeping taxes exactly as they are is not a cut.
2. Biden‘s precious stimulus program has cost US citizen’s more than the entire 8-year Iraq war that freed an entire nation. We will have little or nothing to show for the stimulus, except for debt that we will pass on to future generations. It has been more like a “wreckovery summer.”
3. Taxing the rich can only get you so farm and then it backfires. The rich are generally the risk-takers and the job creators. You can tax every single dollar of revenue at 100% from people that make over $1 Million dollars and it would only cover the federal spending of this nation for less than a week. Why kill the golden goose when unemployment is at an all time high. It doesn’t make sense.
4. The argument that the Republicans do not have any ideas does not hold up. They say they want ideas from the other side of the isle. When he gets the, he and his administration do exactly what he is accusing the Republicans of. He tries to de-legitimatize them.
5. It is extremely unbecoming of a sitting Vice President to call out private citizen’s for simply voicing opinions in a nation that stands on the principles and values of of free speech. The book is not even out yet, but somehow he opinion of it.

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 10:15amObama may be the best politician in three generation particularly as it relates to lying, ignoring the wishes of constituents, and affecting legislative action to his benefit his agenda, even while delegitimizing the constitution, to use Biden’s terminology.

You try to delegitimize the other guy. That’s what’s going on … the attempt to delegitimize one of the most talented men to enter American politics in three generations”
Okay…remember GHWB…Dan Quayle anyone…Biden is so chalk full of “bushisms” that he makes Quayle look like Einstein. “what you do is the same playbook out of the conservative playbook” WHAT the heck does that mean?? Isn’t he talking about Gingrich, a supposed conservative who wrote the playbook back in 1994 – Contract with America? A playbook out of a playbook – DUH!! And can an English teacher out there tell me the definition of “delegitimize”. I have heard of illegitimate, illegal even, but what the heck is “delegitimize”?

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 2:29pmThe “Three Generations” comment can only mean that he is again pushing the comparison of Barack to FDR. These guys all love these socialist policies and they seem genuinely baffled that the American People are not embracing them. It’s the only way to explain the constant promotion of their agenda.

I’m just wondering how many times both of you voted for Bush…Yeah, great choice fellaz…The republican Party obviously knows how to pick em…Lets think about it the last 2 Republicans Presidents Dumb and Dumber Bush and the Last 2 Democratic Presents Clinton who lowered taxes and built a surplus for this country and President Obama who has already exacted more positive change in this country in 18 months than any president in the history of this Country…Check and Mate

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 5:09amThere is no way anyone can know if the claims are reasonable without carefully reading ‘Dreams From My Father.’ Obama tells the reader, over hundreds of pages, exactly who he is. I suggest the audiobook because he reads the book himself, applying vocal nuance to amplify passion/dispassion.
I suggest Steve Sailer‘s book ’America’s Half-Blood Prince.‘ Sailer deconstructs ’Dreams From My Father.’ The book was published months before Obama was elected.
