Joe Biden has a message for GOP senators complaining about Democrats using Christmas as a bargaining tool: “Don’t tell me about Christmas.”
In an NBC interview airing Thursday Morning, Biden lashed out at Republicans angry that Harry Reid has threatened to keep the Senate in session through January 4 if the START treaty is not ratified.
“Don’t tell me about Christmas,” Biden said. “I understand Christmas. I have been a senator for a long time.” He went on to say there are 10 more shopping days until Christmas, and that he hopes the session doesn’t “get in the way of your Christmas shopping, but this is the nation’s business.”
The tongue lashing was in response to comments from the GOP and Sen. Jon Kyle (R-AZ) who said keeping senators through Christmas would be “sacrilegious.”

Now they’re playing the religion card. Amazing.

Posted on December 16, 2010 at 10:26amMerry Christmas VP Biden! Using the lame duck session to accomplish your progressive agenda against the will of the greater majority of the American citizenry is an abomination. We will remember that you put your party above the nation. You have lost the respect of the country. Congress’s approval is at 13%. Can you blame them since the so called leaders are no longer statesmen and women. The ends justify the means even if it means the destruction of the country. It does not make sense so we must conclude you have a hidden agenda – fundamental transformation after collapsing the economy and rebuilding a socialistic government ontroled society. You will fail!

I thought it would be reasonable discourse between liberals and conservatives trying to solve problems instead of stating their propaganda and stating the obvious about politics and politicians. I read every post and there may have been half of a comment that was really about something instead of slamming Biden, Obama, Beck, a liberal poster, a conservative poster or something regarding a great conspiracy against the right. This kind of crap is why our country is sucking the gas pipe. Liberals (my group) and conservatives are all to blame. Posted on December 16, 2010 at 1:38pmYou have to understand that Progressives, when going down in defeat, always fall back to the “Capt. Ahab“ from ”Moby Dick”/“Khan” from “Star Trek-The Wrath Of Khan” mindset;
“From Hell’s heart I stab at thee. For Hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee”
In this context, substitute “a Free People” for “thee”.
It’s the “dog in the manger” parable. If they can’t rule it, they’ll destroy it…even if they go down with it…just to prevent any other ideology from triumphing. The same behaviors happened with Hitler & Germany during the last days of WW2.
Hitler kept Germany fighting to the very end, even after it was obvious that Germany had lost and further fighting would only damage Germany and kill more Germans needlessly. Hitler even killed Eva Braun and their children, then himself at the very last.
Sadly, I expect the same attitude and behavior from Progressives. It wouldn’t surprise me if Obama starts a nuclear war as a “final solution” if it looks likely that the Progressive “fundamental change” and their century-old hold on power in the US and dreams of revolution & global hegemony are dashed.
Tyrants and those plotting tyranny never accept defeat gracefully.

Seriously though, there should never be any bills passed during a lame duck – the Congress should be shut down until the new congress is in place. any essential work should be addressed before the elections. Take away the summer recess and other various breaks if they can’t manage to find time in the first 10 months of the year to get essential work done. Either that, or seat the newly elected congress on Dec 1st. Congress needs to spend the finall month of the year naming post offices and libraries, with no access to Taxpayer money.

100% correct. QE1, 2, 3…..etc. are euphemisms for hyper-inflation. The Fed is “printing inflation”. This is what Peter Schiff has been saying for quite a while.
I’m still hopeful that by the grace of God that the Senate votes this Tax extension / pork bill down, or at least it gets delayed until the tea Party electorate gets into office. Otherwise this will be a campaign distraction for the 2012 election. Obama will use the same tactics of “tax reduction for the rich” which might fool enough idiots into voting him in for a second term.
Republicans and conservatives in the House and Senate need to wise the “F” up and look farther than a few months down the road. This country needs a serious fiscal policy enema.

They do not pay SSI on Income from investment because that income will be confiscated with the death tax. Plus an investment will never need to use a government benifit so it does not need a forced retirement plan. You should be glad the rich pay in and typically use less then they paid. Serious comment. Please calculate how much you paid over the years, the SSN administration actually issues that information if you request it. Now add up how much you’ve collected, and stand to collect if you live another, say, 10 or more years.
SSI is a ponzi scheme. You pay in, yes, not by choice, and then because of how it was designed, you receive back far more than you paid in by exponential amounts.
This of course is not really the issue. The issue is the class warfare mindset you evinced in the original post I was responding to. You rail against “Christmas for the rich”, which is codified “covet thy neighbor’s property” thought put into political speech.

It all becomes clear when you do this.
Also… directly to tower. Say a single man owns a consulting business. He grosses $200,001. He has 4 employees that he pays $40,000 a year, which is an even 5 way split. He takes no more or no less than his employees. Under your tax the “dirty capitalist pigs” dream he would pay 39.6 % federal taxes while the others pay 15%. How many employees would he need to let go in order to earn his own living wage??? To put it another way…
Barstool Economics
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
‘Since you are all such good customers, he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.’ Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men, the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’ They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings) .
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings) .
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
‘I only got a dollar out of the $20,’ declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,’ but he got $10!’
‘Yeah, that’s right,’ exclaimed the fifth man. ‘ I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!’
‘That’s true!!’ shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’
‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important, They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
