Biden Uses Fake Indian (or Russian) Accent During NH Jobs Speech

Vice President Joe Biden is known, by many, for his gaffes. Today, the prominent American politician set himself up, once more, to be fodder among those who enjoy poking fun at his verbal slip-ups. While delivering a speech at a jobs event in Rochester, New Hampshire, he used what appeared to be an Indian (or as some allege a Russian) accent to imitate a call-center worker — you know, the individuals you sometimes encounter when you’re on the phone seeking customer service.

Here‘s a transcript of Biden’s comments (the portion in italics signifies where he spoke with the accent):

“Even call centers, even call centers rushed over seas, hundreds of thousands. How many times you get the call, ‘I like to talk to you about your credit card?’ Or that ad on TV, what is it? ‘Nancy, this is Nancy, can I talk to a supervisor?’ Right? Ok? Well, it’s a little overdone but the truth of the matter is these jobs now are paying about $19.50 an hour if memory serves me.”

This is at least his second controversy centered upon Indian accents. Back in 2006, he told an Indian-American supporter, “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

New York Magazine, though, offers up a different theory — that Biden may have been speaking with a mock Russian accent:

…it’s possible Biden may have actually been showing off his mediocre Russian accent. Just after doing his impression, Biden mentions an ad involving someone named Nancy. There’s a good chance the 69-year-old Biden meant Peggy, as in Discover Card’s “Peggy” ad series.

The vice-president is in Rochester today to promote jobs training partnership programs between community colleges and businesses.

      Biden’s memory does not serve him correctly.
      Show me proof that operators in India make 19.50 an hour to answer phones.
      If they got paid that much, companies would never have outsourced those jobs to India in the first place. Biden needs to ease up on the Irish Whiskey. If it’s not already too late…………

      What do you want to bet that Biden will not run for VP with BHO? Did anyone else catch Hillary at the SOTU address? She looked very disgusted and bored. I saw today that she said would finish out f her post after this year ends and has no intentions of reamaining there.. Something is in the works with her. Don’t count old Hillary out. They know that she is the wild card up their sleeve. There is a plan for HILLARY. If Obama’s supporters continue to decline either she will take the nomination or be the VP spot to run with him. Did you guys notice her the other night?

    Oh, good grief. We all know what he is talking about because it is true. Even the Simpson’s writers know it. Can we stuff the PC crap and get to speaking the truth without fear for once? Guess what? Even though more whites are on welfare than blacks, in percentages 40 percent of blacks are on welfare and 90 percent will be at some time in their lives, so Santorum was right..but he isn’t allowed to say it and must deny it. Newt was right about the work ethic in many African American “communities.” But he isn’t supposed to say it. Nation of Cowards indeed. We need to throw this PC garbage out and address the cultural issues that are dividing us. Pat Buchanan is the only one telling it like it is but unfortunately, he isn’t running.

    Hello, my name is PEGGY!!!! That is not an Indian Accent which would be racist since Biden is White!!! Even the commercial uses an Eastern European character with a funny accent as to not come across as racist… The fact that it is Indian that answers your DELL Technical questions and are now leading the world in computer program development..
