Collective bargaining is why the US is no longer an industrial economy we are a service economy which that can’t last more than 12 years. Ford will be closing the Flat Rock plant in Michigan. There will be alot of UAW workers who just collectively bargained themselves out of a job. And ford the pioneer of the automobile will no longer produce an automobile in the US. in fact when you buy american automobiles there is a good chance the car you buy is not made in the US. I have always bought american but now I’m looking at offshore brands.

And ruin all the fun and excitement of reading the entire headline? It’s extensive titles like these that make videos from Naked Emperor News stand out so well. Plus, it saves viewers from the tedious task of watching the video over and over while they’re developing their viewpoints; therefore, I think the titles are at their best in their current form than if they were shortened…at least for myself, anyway. :-)

Come on. This is BS (although yes, she misspoke, please!). This is an obvious attempt to appeal to ignorance, which is does not do our country any good.

As you can clearly hear her say, “62% of Americans oppose efforts by government to oppose government workers from collective bargaining.” Yes, she immediately after that ” the 62% who said that don’t have a clue what collective bargaining is.“ She meant ”38%”

The fact is that the very conservative Wall Street Journal conducted a poll and found that, “Americans strongly oppose efforts to strip unionized government workers of their rights to collectively bargain, even as they want public employees to contribute more money to their retirement and health-care benefits, the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows.

Eliminating collective bargaining rights for public-sector workers over health care, pensions or other benefits would be either “mostly unacceptable” or “totally unacceptable,” 62% of those surveyed said. Only 33% support such limits.”

Those are the results of the WSJ poll. And this website presented the poll as the exact opposite, based on a a single, obvious misstatement.

Please, this kind of stuff isn’t good for America. Slant is one thing but this is something else. Don’t assume your readers are so stupid.

The main problem is that government has gotten so involved with everything that companies cannot afford to hire anyone. I run my own company and if I followed every law on the books not only would I not have any employees, further adding to the unemployment line, but I wouldnt have a company either. The government needs to get the hell out of the way and let business work. Next year with all of the new rules and laws a lot of companies I know are going to be closing their doors forever. People who help a lot of other people to make money. I am one of them and in turn I use the money they help me make to employ others. When the companies that help me, go under, then I go under and so does everyone I employ. Thats what govenment can do for us all !!!!

Here’s what the poll actually said (link below): “Americans strongly oppose efforts to strip unionized government workers of their rights to collectively bargain, even as they want public employees to contribute more money to their retirement and health-care benefits, the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows.

Eliminating collective bargaining rights for public-sector workers over health care, pensions or other benefits would be either “mostly unacceptable” or “totally unacceptable,” 62% of those surveyed said. Only 33% support such limits.”

The poll shows the exact opposite of what is represented here. Most Americans see the value of collective bargaining. Most Americans see the value of employees, like you and me, having a say. If you want to read what the poll said read it here:

      http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/03/02/wsjnbc-poll-strong-support-for-bargaining-rights/

Of course if you don’t believe that you have any rights at all as an employee, and want to be a subject governed by any whim of the boss man, then that’s fine. If that’s freedom to you, that’s cool with me.

I saw on Fox News that Obama’s new brilliant idea for creating jobs is to help with an “industry-led” (ha-ha) effort to place people in manufacturing jobs by training them at local community colleges and, most likely, subsidizing their employment. Though I am not trying to demean in anyway assembly line jobs (I have worked on assembly lines), and those people work damn hard, and it takes a special kind of person to handle that kind of stress, but if all the jobs he plans to create are assembly line jobs, where does that leave the large majority of people who spent thousands of dollars on college degrees. This type of partnership is a win, win for the progressives (1) it places government controls on private business (believe me, this job creating effort will NOT be industry-led, (2) it helps the unions (3) it decides a person’s quality of life.

You would think these elitist intellectuals would have had enough collective brain cells amongst themselves, to think their communist and socialist ideas/ideals through to their logical conclusion (or just read a freakin’ history book, for pete’s sake). If they DID, they would know their ideas are not just impractical, but impossible. Central planning is absolutely impossible to micromanage on the scale of a nation. Do they even know the definition of communism? Of socialism?

If they would have worked to earn a living they would be able to think logically, rather than sit around and hold their intellectual mutual masturbation sessions.

Keynesian economics has failed yet again. Obama and his intellectual elite crowd are just the latest example that history will record as failed socialists.

This new “revolution, America” thing is becoming less of an idiological issue and more of a survival issue. Survival for the Constitution as we used to know it, because as of now it is in flames and in danger of being engulfed. I have railed against these revolutionaries in this administration for a while now, more in a “wake up!!” mode than now.
Now, well we have been infiltrated from within, and our enemy has taken the most powerful seat in the world. Now, we are against those whom seek to enslave us and destroy the “divine providence” which was America. Now, we are dying. ALL of us, even those like ENCINOM who believe the cult leaders, with the tyrrants, they are merely too stupid to know they are welcoming the chains on their arms with a giddy smile. And will die with the the rest of us, but with a disbelieving question as their last expression instead of we Patriots, who die with a look of hate and regret that we could not do more.
I will do all in my absolute strength to defend this America that I love, that I have served, that I will die for.

When the unions get involved, they advocate that even the least productive of the force has the same rights of pay and benifit as the most productive, which minimizes profit and production.

I was responding to the last paragraph of your 2nd post.
You seem to think that workers deserve special “rights’ because the unions bargain for them.

You have the right to work wherever you can get a job that you seek, at whatever pay they are offering. You have the right not to take that position if you do not like what they are offering.

You have the right to do whatever is needed to keep that job, if it is a job that you want to keep. If you make yourself a valuable asset, you will be rewarded.

You have the right to look elsewhere for employment if you don’t like the way you are being treated, or compensated.

Boss man has the right to can your a$$ if you are lazy, unproductive, or disruptive to the well being of the company.

      Unions SUCK. Especially public unions.

public union rights according to the left,
      - the people must pay high taxes
      - the union has the right to force membership.
      - the union has the right to force public workers wages (payed for with taxes) to be collected as dues
      - the union has the right to donate those dues to elect politicians
      - the union has the right to demand more pay (taxpayers money) from the politicians they elected
      - the union has the right to demand full Cadillac benefits even if the politicians they elect bankrupt the state
-the union has the right to intimidate, threaten or lie to maintain the above mentioned rights

      did i miss any ?

      @JZS-

the irony is that you actually missed the point of the video. the video is exactly as it looks: that the congresswoman clearly supports public sector unions. and that the poll results show that 62Z% of people support public sector unions. at least the way the poll is worded.

But therein lies the problem. the “Blaze” is not assuming its readers are ignorant. the Blaze is exposing a congresswoman who clearly does not support capitalism, the individual, or American values. the congresswoman is calling for “GOvernment first!” solutions rather than private sector solutions, and she is usuing the poll to back her views. the reason the “Blaze” posted this is to show HER ignorance and HER disdain for American principles and values.

Polls can be made to show anything. its all the way questions are worded. look at the global warming debate. if you ask people “do you love the earth”, nearly 100% of people will say “yes”. if you ask “are humans responsible for climate change”, that will be considerably lower.

It sounds good to say “government can’t strip workers rights”, of course most people will support that. but if you truly explain to people what is being asked of the governmnet workers, that they are being asked to contribute, and not to be “stripped” of rights, and that public sector unions are working with OTHER peoples money (taxpayers money, not company, or private money), then i bet the numbers would flip flop, and 62% would oppose

You must be a member a union member.

Oh wait, correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember you stating that you have a non-union management position.

      It does not compute.

I know who’s got my vote for the cutest couple since Bonnie and Clyde. It’s the larcenous lovebirds from Chicago: Jan Schakowsky, the most far-left member of Congress, and her bank robber husband, Robert Creamer, who wrote Obamacare in jail.

She needs to go back where she came from, under a rock. we let these people get in government and then they talk down to every one, as if they are so smart. Send her back home.

I just checked, and the rock she crawled out from under does not want her back.

The only way way to create more jobs is to not allow as much imported items into the country or put higher taxes on imported items. Then maybe more factories will start producing more products here in America. We also have to get rid of unions so American factories can compete.People need to get paid to work but you can’t pay someone $50 an hour to tighten lug nuts. You just can’t compete like that.

@jzs first of all, in her speech ole “Libby” was strongly implying that most of us out here are too stupid to “get” collective bargaining. Second, what we are OPPOSED to is not their bargaining, but their assumption that the taxpayers should provide better pension and medical benefits for the hordes of govt. workers than they can afford for themselves. That seems a little backward, don’t you think? Asking govt. workers to pay at least a portion of the cost of those plans themselves–the same as we out here in the “real” world have to pay for ours–is not asking all that much, seems to me–especially since they likely have a better benefits package than 90% of the rest of the country’s workers.

Billy, I’m salaried and work for a company that treats its employees so well unionizing ideas are unthinkable. Employees work in a safe environment, make a competitive wage, have good insurance (although employees pay more of that every year), and share in the company profits both for safety and for record sales months.

I’m very fortunate. I make above the median income for the US, and can safely say I’m more on the giving end of taxes than the receiving end for the school system, road upkeep, libraries, parks, the fire and police department and so on. I’m paying more in taxes than the “average American” for the benefits I receive from living in this country.

And you know what? I happy with that. I’m fortunate. And I’m happy to contribute my tax dollars to help “the poorest among us” in Christ’s words. And, for another example, I’m happy to pay for the education system and higher teacher pay for the best teachers for example, although my children are soon leaving the public school system. That‘s an investment in my country that won’t reap benefits in my lifetime, but perhaps in my children’s.

      @JZS

Yes,yes I know, you have told us all that before, but you totally missed the point and sidestepped the issue.

If you don’t need a union, nobody needs a union.
If you are a good employee, you will prosper.Even without a union.
If you are a slug, you probably need a union to prosper.
