A bit actor who appeared in the first “Austin Powers” movie has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the violent 1990 gang rape of a Southern California woman.
Orange County District Attorney spokeswoman Farrah Emami said Friday that 40-year-old Joseph Son was found guilty of one felony count of torture on Aug. 25.
In 1997′s “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” Son wore a bowler hat and played one of Dr. Evil’s henchmen, named Random Task.
Authorities say Son and a co-defendant abducted the then-19-year-old victim as she was walking her dog by her Huntington Beach apartment on Christmas Eve.
In the back of the car, Son repeatedly raped and sodomized the woman while pistol-whipping her and threatening to kill her. She suffered severe injuries.
Son was later linked to the crime through DNA testing.
The victim released a statement to the Orange County court saying “My emotional scars are intense. My twenties were stripped from my life as I relearned how to walk, see, hear and cope with the outside world again.”
TMZ reports that the victim added “Joseph Son not only cost me my job at my salon but also my college savings … not to mention the impact it’s made on celebrating Christmas year after year.”
The Associated Press contributed to this article.

Posted on September 10, 2011 at 6:29pmJoe Son another friggin’ CRIMINAL foreigner was born in Korea. I bet the Liberals in Hollyweird find his conviction an outrage as his heinous acts took place prior to his part in the Austin Powers movie just like Mimia Abu-Jamal they’ll be rushing to his aid and demanding his release. It’s time we close the borders and screen ALL “visitors” we obviously can’t prevent criminals from entering this nation either legally or illegally.

Posted on September 11, 2011 at 1:18amCriminals are born everyday in many places…so please cut the race crap…the man was wrong..he got caught and he’s going to prison..true it’s not enough to restore the victim to what and how she was before the attack but and until there is another way or form of punishment that would restore a victim..all of us here will have to be content with what we have..as when you look around the world despite what flaws our justoice system has..it is still the best thing going…9/11 Never Forget !

Posted on September 10, 2011 at 5:50pmShould have had his trial moved to Florida. There the jurors would have found him not guilty. But since he didn’t get it moved, then I figure Bubba will be at the door greeting him as he walks in.

Posted on September 11, 2011 at 6:14pmKeep him there? Not a chance! Isn’t California the ONE state that releases criminals for overcrowding? Or is it the expense? Someone look up articles recently posted in the Blaze about Calif justice system farce. We need to get back to the Bible punishment and have no pity on people who commit such atrocity. We need SWIFT JUSTICE again and not the pity parties we have for the criminals, all the while ignoring the victims.

We should not have to house them for the rest of their miserable life, they should be executed quickly as possible and save the taxpayers their hard earned money….(DNA has spoken)

Posted on September 10, 2011 at 4:29pmYears ago Ted Bundy unleashed his terror in FL. He was a nice looking young man and acted normally until he raped and killed you. I am happy to see you are still around to comment on this site. In my opinion, all rapists/murderers ought to go the way of Ted Bundy, only more quickly. Taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for the rest of their miserable lives.

Report Post »Son will now be a bit player in a reality show about life in prison. A role he cast for himself.
I hope the woman will free herself from the trauma he inflicted.
Saint Agatha heal and comfort her.

Posted on September 10, 2011 at 4:24pmSo this guy won’t be in the upcoming 4th Austin Powers movie due to film next year. That’s pretty ballsy to appear in a movie being a violent criminal. I would think you would lay low, not become someone seen all over the world. Of course, maybe he thought he was hiding in plain sight. Oh well, good riddance to him.

Posted on September 10, 2011 at 4:21pmi was one of those who cheered for the Texas death penalty statistics. I’ve seen comments here and on other sites saying, “Who would cheer for death penalty statistics?”. My answer: Those who are not afraid of justice. Yet, even in this case I would not support the death penalty, life in prison and castration is saomething I would clap for in this case however.
