‘Bigoted’ & ‘Homophobic’: Chicago Alderman Vows to Block Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A, as we’re sure most of you know already, has come under fire for allegedly “intolerant” comments made by company CEO Dan Cathy. Anti-Chick-fil-A protest pages have popped up all over Facebook, Boston Mayor Tom Menino has vowed to block them from opening an eatery in his city, and the Jim Henson Company has broken off all ties with the company.
And here’s the latest in the “Let’s Dogpile Chick-fil-A Because They‘re Totally ’Intolerant’” movement: “A Chicago alderman wants to kill Chick-fil-A’s plans to build a restaurant in his increasingly trendy Northwest Side ward because the fast-food chain’s top executive vocally opposes gay marriage.”
Yep, first Boston and now this.
“If you are discriminating against a segment of the community, I don’t want you in the 1st Ward,” Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday, referring to what he said were “bigoted, homophobic comments” from Cathy.

Whoa, whoa, pump the breaks there, “Joe.” Let’s rewind a bit and see what Cathy actually said: “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
Cathy also said the following [via Ken Coleman Show]:
I think we‘re inviting God’s judgment when we shake our fist at him, you know? “We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.”
And I pray on God’s mercy on our generation, that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try and redefine what marriage is all about.
“Bigoted”? “Homophobic?” “Discriminates”?
Is it company policy to deny members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) community employment? No. Does Chick-fil-A deny members of the LGBT community service? No. Outside of Cathy’s “intolerant,“ ”bigoted,“ and ”homophobic” comments, has Chick-fil-A — as a company – done anything to discriminate against the LGBT community? No. Did we redefine the word “discriminate” and nobody told us about it? Hmmm.
“Because of this man’s ignorance, I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the 1st Ward,” said the alderman.
Of course, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who, by the way, is doing a bang-up job running that city, supports Moreno.
“Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values,” Emanuel said in a statement. “They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty.”
Although the company has already obtained zoning for a restaurant, “it must seek council approval to divide the land so it can purchase an out lot near Home Depot,” the Tribune reports. This means they have to go through Moreno.
When asked whether his decision to block Chick-fil-A over Cathy’s comments seemed contradictory to First Amendment rights, the alderman shrugged it off.
“You have the right to say what you want to say, but zoning is not a right,” he said, adding that it will take “more than words” to get him to change his mind.
“They’d have to do a complete 180,” the alderman said. “They’d have to work with LGBT groups in terms of hiring, and there would have to be a public apology from (Cathy).”
Final thought: Mark our words — from Boston to Chicago — this is just the tip of the iceberg. If there’s one thing advocates of “tolerance” won’t tolerate, it’s people who, they say, are “intolerant” [good luck figuring that one out].

However, as oppression has lifted from that community over the years, many there are using their new-found freedoms to turn the tables and ironically oppress and bully ANY other segment of society that disapproves of their lifestyle. You‘d think they’d be thankful to be accepted, but instead, it seems to be “payback time”.
They continue to fish for any tool available to force acceptance and even promote their social viewpoint. With this type of encroachment on the morals and belief systems of others, what can you expect? Many citizens don’t want America to have the same fate as Sodom and Gomorrah and are going to be pushing back, even *if* demonized and labeled unenlightened, superstitious or Neanderthals.
People of faith are being oppressed by many in the LGBT community who are athestic. They are using legal pressure to get us to abandon our faith in order to force acceptance with what our faith clearly dictates is contrary. This forced acquescence flies in the face of “Freedom of Religeon” guaranteed by our constitution.
I accept that many in the GLBT community are peaceful and diminutive, but their front groups, associations and Hollywood luminaries have been increasingly taunting and “slinging mud” into the faces of The Faithful for several years now. What would you do

Well first the CEO of Chick must remember that as he seeks to increase the value of the investment or his investors, Chick creates JOBS. This mean both the Mayor of Boston and Chicago as well as this alderman don’t realize that they are actually hurting their own citizens. The CEO Dan Cathy should take one more step. Close down all of the Chick-fil-A’s in both Boston and Chicago and tell the Mayors and this alderman and any other fool-hearty politician that they and their people will suffer losing JOBS and TAXES. If Mr. Cathy takes these steps, we who are part of his business base will make up the difference so his investors will realize their profit while you show these jackass how much foolish and un-American they are.

My aunt and uncle were both beaten and mugged there (not at the same time). I also remember living there when I was a child in the 60′s and I distinctly remember being literally chased out of our apt bldg by the whack-a-doodle hippies. We wound up moving to Ft. Lauderdale because our abode and belongings were trashed by these boneheads. These are the same boneheads who are running our Govt and country into the ground!

I don’t care if they all want to live together in a commune, give each other pep talks, take monthly tests for aids, etc. They deserve to live their life as they wish, but I just wish they would get out of my face and quit trying to change me. I’m 100% behind Chick-Fil-A. It takes faith, guts and the capacity to turn the other check many times over. As Christians, we must pray for the family and their well-being. Also, I will never buy another Sesame Street character for my grandkids.

Chick-Fil-A is allowed to have their own values and views, and they shouldn’t have to put up with the intolerance of the so called “tolerant”. They’re not bigoted nor homophobic, they are Christians, who follow the teachings of the Bible. They are not going to change their stance, and they shouldn’t have to. It seems like Chick-Fil-A is the one being discriminated against, since they aren’t being allowed to open their restaurants in two cities because of their beliefs. How is that any different from homosexuals being denied something because of their beliefs?

Not only did they say that he supported the traditional family but it was a good thing they were married to their FIRST wives.
Gays are always lamenting with loud mournful wails, gnashing of teeth & pulling of air while wearing sack cloth & rubbing ashes into their hair that Christians do not spend as much time on adultery as the gay lifestyle choice.
