Bill Ayers to University Students: America‘s ’Game Is Over‘ and ’Another World’ Is Coming

Bill Ayers spoke at the University of Oregon last week on the subject of teaching and organizing for “social justice.”  His speech was not free of the radical sentiments he is well-known for espousing (especially in the company of America’s youth). Case in point: he spoke of the end of America, a new world, and what our role ought to be in all of it.

Almost as interesting as Ayers’ speech itself, perhaps, was how the leftist radical was introduced by the university students.  One girl, who described herself as a doctoral student at the university, spoke of the privilege they would have with their honored guest, in an “evening [of] radical imagination.”

Two others, an associate professor at the university and a graduate student, remarked: “Most of us have in one way or another acknowledged the sovereign authority of the U.S. government– or the state of Oregon– in order to be here tonight, either admission to the university, applying for a job, or just paying the parking meter.  We have not, however, asked permission of the [Native Americans] whose ancestral home this is, and to fail to acknowledge that this remains disputed territory would in effect be taking sides, [and] reinforce the erasure of indigenous history and indigenous peoples.”

When Ayers spoke, it was largely of how the “American Empire” is over, and what this means for her citizens (though there was a fair amount of “the wasteful American” theme throughout as well):

The great challenge for our generation [is] to find a way not just to live differently as individuals, but to find a way to think differently about what work means, to think differently about citizenship means, to think differently about what it means to be a ‘citizen of the world.’  One of the great dangers that we live in right now, is I don‘t think there’s any question, and I don’t think any of you would question, that the American Empire is in decline–that economically, and politically, and in  some ways culturally, that we are in decline.  And yet, the United States remains the most powerful, weaponized military system the Earth has ever known.

That’s a treacherous combination.  A declining economic power, and an expanding military power.  And we are going to have to find ways to re-imagine what it means to live in this coun–in this world.  And here we are 4% of the world’s population, 4.5% of the world’s population, consuming vast amounts of natural resources, consuming vast amounts of finished goods, and no politician will say that the empire is declining and that the game is over. 

It’s over.  Now what?  [Emphasis added]

Perhaps we will transform into a Euro-style state, though that was not a peaceful transition for Europeans, Ayers noted:

And you know, my optimistic friends say: “Oh boy, we’re going to look like Germany, or England, or France,“ and I think ”Jeese.”  I mean, first of all, for England and France and Germany to become non-empires it took the deaths of millions and millions of people, so let’s remember that.

On a less chilling, and far more familiar note, Ayers called Republicans racist militants:

But let’s also remember that as power shifts, and as people feel something changing, they can either embrace it as a possible good thing in the world, or they can hold on to and become more, you know, reactionary.  More racist, more militaristic, and that’s happening too.  So it shouldn’t surprise us to see the Republican primaries.

I don’t know about you but I watch the debates as if watching a train wreck, I mean I was just fascinated with it– my wife is just sickened by it– but, I thought it was interesting and also telling that that is a tendency that we’re going to see more and more of.

But how does the leftist radical see the world from here?  With all of the protests and the great changes throughout the world, what does Bill Ayers see for our future?

And that means, for me that means, that it’s our responsibility to fight here and now for a little more democracy, a little more participation, a little more peace, and keep putting our shoulder on that wheel because the opposition is fighting for– you know, another world is definitely coming, but that doesn‘t mean it’s going to be a better world, and it’s our responsibility to jump in. [Emphasis added]

      It’s a shame that the younger generations that these guy prey on, are so ignorant of the facts of history, as this stuff has be removed from the text books so they blindly follow them like little sheep. So history repeats itself again just like the Hitler, Stalin and mao days. And yes the body counts were staggering and shall be again if these people are allowed to prosper.

Unless you give up your car, your clothes, your home, the local grocery store, fast food, the Republic, and live as a nomad following the migration of bison to hunt to feed your family – then give your ANTI-AMERICA propaganda a rest!

      Yes, the Native Americans were screwed over by crooked American politicians. But Native Americans also integrated into this new nation. They helped America win WWII.

      At some point in history every group of people was enslaved and mistreated in varying degrees of brutality. So are you going to sit and weep in a candle-light vigil for the millions slaughtered by Ghengis Khan? Get real. Yes, America has made errors, but compared to EVERY OTHER nation in history, it has done more good for the entire planet than ANY other nation.

      He is right that America is about over as a free and prosperous nation. We will continue the decline whether Obama gets a second term or if Mitt Romney wins the presidency. Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are beholden to the same corrupt corporations that have helped us get to this point. If American voters were to wake up immediately and see that we need to forget all the rest of the negatives and elect a true constitutionalist tas POTUS and replace all the members of the house and senate with constitutionalists in order to get us back to the Republic that made us the greatest nation on earth.     What is truly frightening is this guy and all the others that are like him have not changed one bit when it comes to this evil, crazy, hateful, irrational, dangerous ideology. You’d think maybe they would have “seen the light” after all these years. You can give a “pass” to the youth who don’t know much about life, but I don’t get how these older ones have not changed. I wondered about it in the 60′s. Now I have my answer – too many haven’t changed. They’re all similar to the likes of the evil craziness of Hitler.
    It’s clear as day what is happening to our country – a communist takeover at long last – in all of the highest Depts. & positions in the land. They told us for sure with their recently selected slogan of “Forward” and what do our elected officials say or do – the ones that are sworn to uphold the Consititution, protect “we the people” from this kind of thing – what we’ve fought and died for since our beginning??? Nothing – they continue with their political games – Repubs. just “hopin and wishin” the elections will solve everything. Either they do know and refuse to do anything or they don‘t know and don’t want to know – b/c it’s staring us right in the face with many proofs.       Hey mom, I understand your message, however I can‘t help noticing you’ve missed along with so many other, the cause of these and all things political slanted. Profits. profits are the reason B.Hussein O. just announced a 10 year extension on “training” the afghans. Profits are all the rage and always have been. A Utopia for the people simply will never happen. That would entail, and require actually, at the least, that EXCESSIVE greed be lessened, and also would require that all people, workers,leaders,private and public hierarchies of all manner, subscribe to the idea that capitalism AND the needs of the people CAN in fact co-exist. But this always seems to me to be something that is never thought of. Both sides are so busy frothing at the mouth while blaming the other no one seems to notice. Again, Both true capitalism (a bank lends money,a venture takes off, the venture includes a commitment that some portion of fair and equitable capital be held in reserve for public infrastructure) and public needs CAN CO-EXIST, if NOT for EXCESSIVE greed. You see there is NOTHING wrong with greed and profits, capitalism and free market theory absolutely require it (watch Milton Freemans 10 part series on youtube) but you simply have to have some of the interest going toward roads,libraries,healthcare,education,policing,etc. Yeah I know its called taxes, N.S. but my point is if either side gets too much power, and the private sector in the u.s. certainly has, it is not healthy.

      You are correct both sides are corrupt you used to pay your taxes and it was put into a account for a specific purpose. But the practice of simply transferring the funds out of those accounts to a general funds account to be spent as they wish is now the norm. This practice is why we have are situation
      if there was extra money left in the accounts that was usually transferred to general funds now all of it goes to general funds. Misappropriation of funds they are all guilty.

    I would imagine that this is Obama, his administration, and the majority of the democrat party’s specific sentiment as well. The U.S. is decline and progressive thinking and politics, and overall ignorance of the people are to blame. To the average college student in liberal colleges and universities (most of them), this news was no more devastating than an announcement that the weekend party they were all planning to go to has been canceled.

Hell, I think I barely can, and I am far ahead of most. Life is tough when the electricity stops, the water stops, the heat is off, no medicine, no gas, no stores. Who is ready for that? Few.

      The nice thing is that the Ayers of the world are not ready either. The ones most able to muddle through such a crisis are the militarized nation-states (China). The world is aware about what is coming, but is clueless as to how to deal with it.

      Ayers and Jones among others of this narrow viewpoint seem to talk for the natives of the continent as if they alone have the moral aurthority to advance a “solution” that they think the vast majority of natives would gladly accept. From my personal dealings with natives in a number of locations I would have to say that very few of them see things the way Ayers and Dorn do…they assume that thier soicla justice message is resonationg with a much larger cross section of the polulace (across all races) then it actually is. fact is tier “soultions” appeal to a very small subset of admitted liberals. Delusional thinking and behavior has been the hallmark of groups like those to which Van Jones and Bill Ayers admit to founding/mentoring/guiding. IMO where they have overplayed thier pitiful hands has been in the last 3 years, thinking that with the election of Obongo, that this ‘thinking” has someone reached a critical mass when it has not done so in any appreciable fashion. I would argue that this false critical mass is being proferred with or without any real backing beond the fringe left wing nuts that will support this evil no matter what reality and the general public are telling them. I see no great shift to the left by the general populace of N America…in fact what I see coming is a major correction back to the center, center right balance that was once the delicate balance that made ther continent the envy of the world.       i would agree that we do need change…however, i do not believe ayers, obama,soros etc go about it the right way. \

      we are allowing ourselves to be taken“advantage” of by electing the people that we do..allowing the laws we do..
      i simply do not understand the complacency of the American voter.
      .what does it take to get them off the couch, pay attention, and vote?…

      All of this talk is just pie in the sky window dressing…the real “solution” thay these lefties are backing is the UN Agenda 21 protocol which mandates the world‘s populace be reduced to 500 million souls from it’s current level of 6.5 billion which is stipulated in the “sustainable planet” doctrine (which is 100% green energy based). It doesn’t take much imagination to reach a conclsuion that what these Agenda 21 advocates are pushing for is nothing short of the largest genocide of all time.     If he wants peace so much why does he support a president who’s keeping our troops in Afghanistan until 2024? And I’m assuming Ayres supports indefinite detention without trial for US citizens that his president signed. Ayers must also approve of Obama czar Monsanto in charge of our food safety as well as one of Obama’s biggest donors, Goldman Sachs.

Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, hosted a gathering at their home in 1995, where Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her chosen successor in the Illinois State Senate…I would say they are pretty tight, but they keep it on the down low.
