Bill Clinton: ‘I Like Huntsman and Romney’

Bill Clinton: ‘I Like Huntsman and Romney’Former President Bill Clinton says that as far as Republicans go he likes GOP 2012 hopefuls Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney.   Clinton made his comments on the presidential field at the Aspen Ideas Festival Saturday evening. While Clinton still thinks President Obama will win reelection in 2012, he commented that the former Massachusetts governor is fronting a much stronger campaign than he did in 2008, and Michele Bachmann is looking like “a better candidate” than he thought. Clinton remarked:

“But, y’know, I like the governors: I like Huntsman and Romney. Romney’s a MUCH better candidate than he was last time, because he’s not apologizing for signing the health-care bill. He’s got another creative way of saying we oughta repeal Obamacare, but that’s prob’ly the price of gettin’ the nomination.

“Huntsman hasn’t said what he’s for yet, but I just kinda like him. [laughter] He LOOKS authentic – he looks like a real guy. [laughter] I mean, a real human being. I like his family, I like his kind of iconoclastic way. And he was a pretty good governor. And he wasn’t a right-wing ideologue.

“Bachmann’s been a better candidate than I THOUGHT she’d be, and I don’t agree with her on nearly anything. But she’s got a very compelling personal story, and she gotta lot of juice, and she turns [on] a lot of those anti-government crowd.”

Clinton went on to comment that he thought President Obama would win reelection based off things like the President’s handling of the auto industry crisis, record on national security, and that “He took steps which avoided a depression.” Clinton:

“It’s not like he doesn’t have a story to tell. I also think he’s done a good job in trying to harmonize America’s differences, trying to widen the circle of opportunity. I think he’s got a good record on gay rights. I think he’s got a good record on trying to promote diversity in a positive way.”

Interesting comments. Is “a good record on gay rights”  pushing the removal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” policy which you installed? Great story.

While Clinton’s support of the fellow Democrat and current President is to be expected, it will be interesting to see if his folksy comments on three Republican presidential candidates Saturday along with similar statements made in an ABC News interview last Thursday will have any effect on the GOP Presidential primary campaign.

With some commentators already questioning if Jon Huntsman is too moderate to be elected by today’s GOP, will Clinton’s kind words be hurled against the former Utah governor by his fellow 2012 hopefuls? Will conservatives who already have an issue with Mitt Romeny’s “health care thing” become further frustrated by Clinton’s approval?

How do you think Bill Clinton’s comments will be used, if at all, as the Republican primary race tightens in coming months?

Probably figure she (or Obama) could beat those two or….he wouldn‘t mind having either one as President bc they’re more like him — LOL

I almost jump of my chair a slap him so hard to send him back where he came from. I am a 42 year old combat dissabled veteran. @glennisright The Blaze is just trying to minimalize Romney by saying Clinton “likes” him. Huntsman’s waaaay down on the % polls now so must be Romney….oh, but Dems will give Huntsman attention since he believes BHO is a “remarkable” man and was BHO’s ambassador and will help splinter votes from Romney. They did the same thing with MA health care solution. The differences are critical and in line with our Constitution. But……..people are sometimes too lazy to think for themselves.

In truthful reporting…….COULD it have been that both have had experience as governors? Yes, Pawlenty was governor, but not as “dangerous” as Romney’s poll and $$ raised numbers are looking.

Oh, but this is really not the looking for truth site……..it appears to be a tool for promoting only tea-party approved candidates…..not really truth.

Clinton is the first President EVER to leave office:
Second President ever to be impeached.
Charged with lying to Federal Grand Jury.
      To be disbarred.
To be found guilty of perjury.
To be sued for sexual crimes (harassment)
To fail to earn the respect of the Military and they refused to execute a “Right Face” when he left office and got on the helicopter.
The investigative “Star Report” is so bad, it cannot be opened and seen until after his death.
The democrats, his own party, said he was a rapist that roamed the halls of the White House, after reading this report.
Clintons legacy and reputation was destructive, disrespectful and left a foul imprint on his Presidency and the White House.
The American people probably don’t care what he thinks. We already know who and what he is. He seems to think (along with many politicians) that we suffer memory loss. His wife is more of the same. Hillary wrote her thesis on Alinsky. 75 pages of PRAISE for Saul Alinsky and his school and teachings. So…we are not stupid nor suffer memory or brain cell loss and functions. I wish all these people would retire, leave, go away//you just can’t get rid of any of them once they are “in” office.
I don‘t give one iota about Clintons’ “rectal Recitals”.

Clinton and the rich insiders (Rothschild) etc. who back Huntsman and Romney don’t get it. For you geneology buffs, all of the Presidents have a common ancestor. Only Martin Van Buren is not a decendent of John (Lackland) Plantagenet, King of England (1166-1216). This was found by tracing both the male and female lines. Any of the twelve declared candidates that are not decendants of King John don’t have much of a chance.

Like McCain, they’ll talk them up until the primary is over,
then they’ll crap all over them.

If Clinton is for it; I’m against it.

Shallow thinkers like you–let me amend that, to non-thinkers like you–need to stop thinking in cliches. Warmonger, neo-con–both cliches from the twentieth century. You need to read history, dork.

Who cares what this Freak thinks.
What does Jimmy ‘The Peanut Head’ Carter think? That’s News. He hates Jews too.

I will always vote for Republicans.
When they leave office you don’t have to hear what they think everyday.

If Clinton likes these two, then I surely won’t be voting for them. I have my eye on Michelle Bachman. I only hope that she thinks long and hard when picking her running mate. If only Christie would consider a run!

What a statement. Bill Clinton is THE problem –A total zipper. What a false sense of reality this guy Billy Zipper has—everybit along with BarryO!! Totally traumatized as children, and lying ever since; narcissistc—troublesome private lives and expenses—wearisome. Woman issues. Clinton, sex; Barry? Mommyism with Valerie Jarrett and all his Progressive commie pigletes.
