Bill Maher to Rep. Ellison: Koran Is a ‘Hate-Filled Holy Book’

The emotion shown by Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) at Rep. Peter King’s (R-NY) Muslim radicalization hearings garnered much attention, and we have a feeling Ellison’s appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight will get its share of play as well. Maher and Ellison had an interesting conversation about Islam (Ellison converted in college) – but perhaps most interesting were the harsh words Maher had for the radical element of Islam…an opinion he had no problem sharing to Ellison’s face (or the screen it was on, anyway).
Maher went off on radical Islam, deeming “the threat, potentially, from radicalized Muslims…a unique and greater threat” – one, he said, that’s in its “medieval era.” In addition, he cited “trying to get nuclear weapons” and a “culture of suicide bombing.”
But that paled next to Maher’s criticism of the Qur’an, which he called a “hate-filled holy book…which is taken very literally” by radical Islamic terrorists.

He has mixed Jewsish Christian parents, who probably aren’t very religious either) but I have to give him chops on this. He’s smart enough to know the hostility that attacking the quran will generate among the medeival savages. That’s a pretty brave move on his part.
Maybe he might finally start coming around to the idea that a truce with Christianity might be a price worth paying to fight off Islamic fascism. Christopher Hitchens had a similar conversion when it came to fighting Saddam Hussein. He’s still hard core liberal but one who believe the West is worth fighting for. I remember Maher saying something similar about not wanting the West to become Muslim.

C’mon, all you can do is attack my spelling? I think you know what I meant. I am at work and type quickly. I’m a network engineer so spelling is not something I have to worry about much professionally. I think you could get the gist of it even with a couple of typos. I guess it’s easier to draw attention to spelling mistakes than to address the point of the post. I guess I will take an extra moment to run it through the spell checker.
Reasonable people know typos happen, I overlook them when others do it. I can figure out what they meant, sorry if you cannot deduce that when I typed “usuall”, I meant “usual”.
Well at least I made you feel nice and smug today, enjoy it while it lasts.

It is part of the history of how Israel was created as the fulfillment to Abraham. However, the New Testament changed all the rules for Christians as how to live. I think that the majority of Muslims are like Zudi Jasser, and believe that a “Jihad” is a personal struggle against the “evil” man. Now, I don’t believe that they are saved or going to heaven, but that is my heritage, my belief, and my understanding of the world that God created and saved through the death and rising of His own Son, Jesus. In every other religion, it is up to the individual to save themselves, but in Christianity, God is the one doing the saving, all He asks for is humility and recognition of the gift He gave us at the Cross.

I certainly hope moderate muslims start standing up against radical islam. Bill Maher and Keith Ellison will certainly be considered as “infidels” as well as all moderate muslims and the rest of us. According to the radicals the penalty for the “infidels” is death. The state of South Carolina is trying to pass a law that will make Sharia Law illegal. Something must be really brewing for the lawmakers of South Carolina to acknowledge that Sharia poses a threat to their state. I am as pro-Jewish as they come, so you completely misunderstood what I said. You libs can’t hear a conservative talk about race or religion without calling us racists and bigots. Geez.
