Bill Maher Defends Limbaugh: ‘Liberals Looking Bad Not Accepting’ His Apology

No, folks. This isn’t an Onion headline. Comedian Bill Maher has come out in support of radio host Rush Limbaugh. The seemingly never-ending Limbaugh versus Sandra Fluke debacle hasn’t lost much steam, which seems to be the catalyst for Maher coming to the host’s defense.

On Tuesday evening, the comedian sent a tweet that read, ”Hate to defend #RushLimbaugh but he apologized, liberals looking bad not accepting. Also hate intimidation by sponsor pullout.”

This, of course, wasn’t the first time Maher weighed in on the debate. Last week, he took to his “Real Time” show on HBO to poke fun at Limbaugh, while distinguishing his own past comments about Sarah Palin from the radio host’s harsh words about Fluke.
On Friday, he said that the difference between him and Limbaugh is that he doesn’t have sponsors. Maher also joked that the first company to abandon Limbaugh was Sleep Train, a mattress business. “Sluts use a lot of mattresses!,” he joked.
It seems Maher’s tone — and vocal appreciation of free speech — has changed.

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 11:07amAgree .. he should have reinforced his reason for what he said .. without an apology … btw accepting an apology is a CLASSY thing to do .. and we know the Dems are not classy .. and Ms. Fluke didn’t accept it and we know what she is also ..and also not CLASSY!
As for Bill Maher .. he knows the next time he calls a Republican woman vile vile things (way worse than what Rush said btw and is TRUE) we are NOT GOING TO TAKE IT! Anyone who thinks this man is vile should cancel HBO if they have it!

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 3:39pmIt was priceless to hear Rush blame (the left, the source) and make excuses. It‘s been almost as funny hearing O’Reilly, Beck, and Malkin trying to get in on the action, and seeing the rw pundits’ response (Obama admin set the trap for Rush and SNAP!) ~ not to mention the yellow-bellied candidates (except Paul) cowering at the foot of Mt.Rush. The attack on women’s rights has been a Repub theme since 2010.

and this is the tip of the iceberg. (from my previous post)
This doesn’t even include Repub state govs who have proposed bills to:
-mandate medically unnecessary procedures (transvag’l ultrasounds<abortions) (VA and others)
-call victims of ra pe, DV, stalking "accusers," of robbery, et al. "victims" (GA)
-target especially female dominated careers (teachers, nurses) (WI et al)
-trying to dismantle Planned Parenthoods (TX et al)

Much as I'm sure you support these measures (like all good repubs,) they disproportionately target women, and women know it. :)

Posted on March 7, 2012 at 10:50amUm, I‘m pretty sure the Main Stream media and Obama have turned this into a women’s issue. The comment Rush made (as I heard it live on the air in the context in which it was intended) was to point out the obsurdity of her testimony that this is about women’s rights. Rush didn‘t turn this into a women’s issue he was pointing out the hypocrsy and deception behind it being used as a women‘s health and women’s rights issue when it is CLEARLY about religious freedom. He was making the very point you are now trying to make. You might try to listen to their shows and hearing this stuff in context.

I‘m speaking more to this narrative that’s been developed wherein she and her supporters get to be all outraged at Limbaugh and others criticizing this “private citizen”, as if she was just wandering along minding her own business. They’re trying to have it both ways, putting her out there as the public champion of “reproductive rights”, but then crying over any criticism she gets because she’s a private citizen.

Fluke became a public figure as soon as she propped herself up as the face of the free contraception movement.
